The food was delicious! Our table mostly got the original homemade jerk chicken and one person ordered the rasta pasta. The chicken was juicy and season well; the pasta was creamy and had a kick to it. Drinks were good-they have 4 pages worth of cocktails. My friend said the strawberry daiquiri was overwhelming sweet though. Prices ranged from $8-$11. Service was ok, the problem was with the volume of the TV. It is way too loud, I could barely hear the waitress and she could barely hear us. They have it on VH1 Soul which is nice but it doesn't need surround sound with the the bass turned all the way up. Felt like we were at a club. The other issue is there is only 1 bathroom (at least upstairs). Someone from the waitstaff was using this to change in and left it smelling like axe body spray and didn't clean up after himself. I hoped he at least washed his hands. Extremely long wait. Small waiting area. Gave my name to the hostess who did even write it down because she had no pen. I provided a pen to the hostess who dtill didn't write my name down again. I literally had to stand write beside her to make sure that she did her job. My party of 4 was finally seated right in front of the door. REALLY!!!! My significant other order a strawberry daiquiri (Qty. 2 - 1 with liquor and 1 w/o). No liquor in the daiquiri. He decided to order a beer because you cant possibly get it wrong but they did warm beer. I ordered a rasta pasta with oxtail....the oxtail was disgusting (pasta was adequate). Then I ordered 2 orders of rasta pasta 1 with barbecue shrimp and the other with jerk shrimp (stingy with the shrimp). I paid for the shrimp so I should get what I paid for. I asked for the manager and he never showed. The food is usually on point but this location should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for false advertising. The sever was forgetful. read more

This 'restaurant' (if you can call it that) should do everyone a favor and close their doors permanently. First off, let me say that the food is delicious, and that is where it ends ... period. The pervasive attitude in this place is one of total indifference, even from the manager!! I waited for one hour and still my food did not arrive. The reason my server gave was that there were only 2 cooks in that day, yet the table next to mine had their (similar) food after only 15 minutes. I decided I had enough and after paying for the drink I had, waited for my change of $.70 (no tip for bad service). Footprints Cafe is beyond description. I can only highlight the most amazing things about the restaurant because a full report of the events that transpired during our dining experience would bring me to the edge of hysteria. 1. Basic drinks such as Coca-cola and ice water take approximately 20-30 minutes to deliver to the table after ordering, even when there is no other table with guests in the entire restaurant. 2. The bartender doesn't have Bloody Mary's but cocktails such as "F--- me running," "Fuzzy D---," and "Bend me over and F--- me" are readily available for your enjoyment. 3. Employees are sent to a local bodega to fetch bread should you order a sandwich. But don't count on the bread to be toasted, because the waitress is confused by the concept of "toast." 4. Burgers shall be cooked rare, medium-rare, medium-well, or well. "Medium" AKA "JUST medium" is a source of constant confusion, since this restaurant seems to exist in a parallel universe where nobody has ever ordered a burger done medium. 5. The "Jamaican Jerk Chicken Club Sandwich" lacks jerk seasoning, bacon, an extra layer of bread (see "toast"), and anything that can be called Jamaican. It does, however, feature a dollop of mayonnaise that you'd wish you got from a McDonald's chicken sandwich instead. 6. It's dinner time, all the time, since the dinner menu is 25-50% more expensive than the posted lunch menu in the window which the waitress will con you into believing is for "take-out only." My best advice is, if you get stuck having to eat here, order the "F--- me running" and enjoy the VH1 videos from the bar while eating the complimentary peanuts because it's the only good food you'll get served to you. read more

I went to the Coney Island restaurant with my family. First of all, it took 20 minutes before we even saw a waitress. We got there at 9:30 at night so you would think it would be less busy. Then after we ordered, another 30 minutes before we saw appetizers and then an additional 15 before the first entree came out. There were 6 of us at the table and only one order came out. It took an additional 10 minutes before the rest of the orders came out. It took almost an hour before I was actually eating my main course. The service was TERRIBLE. And let me tell you, this place has a lot of things that could work. First of all, its in a great location in Coney Island, the place looks nice, and I love that they had a live band that played really nice music. On top of that the food was not half bad. But all of that is going to go down the drain with their slow service. The waitresses and guys that brought out the food seemed confused and flustered and had no idea what went where. They were very unconcerned with the fact that we were not served yet. They moved like snails. And upon telling the manager who said he would take care of us at the end of the night, he did absolutely NOTHING. This would be a great place if they improved their service. I went to footprints in coney island yesterday. Let me tell you it was such a great experience! !! Delicious food, they brought the food to the car, the chief came out to great me and gave me extra plate of food cuz he made too much. They guy was cleaning the front steps with a hose And sprayed water on my truck. Clean car, great food, extra food , and I didn't even have to get out my truck. Friendly people. Loved it !!! Went on Saturday, May 9,2015 This place gets 2 stars based solely on the food. The other stars were withdrawn for poor customer service. We were a party of 4 celebrating a friend's birthday. I ordered the rasta pasta with brown stew chicken. It was my first time trying rasta pasta. It wasn't as spectacular as advertised by "word of mouth". But the pasta was seasoned, creamy with a mild spicy component, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The stew chicken was flavorful, and moist. Two other people at the table had oxtail, which was succulent and fall-off-the-bone. Another friend had the jerk chicken, and I was told it was pretty delicious too, but be careful because the spice level was a little high. The meal ended with dessert. the red velvet cake and an amaretto truffle. Both were delightful. The red velvet was a tad dense, but still moist, and the cream cheese frosting was not overdone or clawingly sweet. (an aside) The music selection was quite nice. Old school reggae track. And our server was nice, and engaging. I believe that this restaurant has potential, but the management needs a course in hospitality. Now to the HORRENDOUS. I called and made reservations 2 days in advance as I was worried that it would get crowded on a Saturday night around 8pm. But I called the day of the reservation to see if I could shift my time slot from 8 to 9pm. Over the phone, I was told that no such reservation existed. I started to panic. However I was reassured and a 9pm slot was available, so I reserved that time instead. Upon arrival to the establishment, we were greeted by 4 workers lazily lounging on couches in the waiting vestibule. They were just there sitting around. It looked so tacky and unprofessional. The manager allows this? As a worker, you think it is acceptable to idle around so customers see the restaurant's "laid back" attitude? OK. We were a little surprised, but I went to the hostess, gave my name and I was told that no reservation was made. SERIOUSLY??!!!!! Why does Footprints have idiots taking reservations? WTF? I think the hostess didn't believe I made a reservation at first, but then when I dropped the name of the girl who DID NOT DO HER JOB, she made up some lame excuse. I was ready to fly off the handle, but there was a table available so we got seated. Oh, but it doesn't end there. Our table was a mess. We got a semi booth, right by the stairs leading up to the second level. There was food, straw wrappers, and balled up napkins under the table, and rice was on our chairs. Is there no policy in place for cleaning up after a party has left a table? REALLY, Footprints???? So, we had to stand and wait until someone came and swept the floor and cleaned off the chairs. In addition, the table was so old and weathered, my shirt got caught in the splintered wood on the side of the table. RIDICULOUS! And our drinks took so long to arrive, that they came the same time that our food arrived. Had it not been for the fact that we were engaged in a very enjoyable conversation, and hopped up on happiness from a previous Karaoke event, we would've been seriously annoyed. Another note for Footprints is: if you have a table of guests, standard protocol/ food etiquette is to bring everyone's food at the same time. I sat there twiddling my thumbs and hungrily eyeing everyone else as they munched away. In short, this place is probably getting by on its "name", or the fact that there are no other caribbean restaurants in the area. If we weren't all running on a schedule, I would've walked out of this place right after getting to our FILTHY table. In addition to that , right before we came in, a table had just absconded without paying the bill after they had received appetizers and drinks...hmmm makes you wonder. So, if you want a nice meal, with clean tables, and ambiance, this might NOT the place...takeout might be a safer bet. To the cook...run!!! You are too good for this place!!! read more

Unfortunately not what I expected at all. Eschovitch wings were not seasoned at all. Basically fried wing with over spicy old onions. Garlic wings were great. My sister's ordered jerk chicken rasta pasta, horrible the chicken was dry only the skin was spicy/seasoned. The pasta has tooo many veggies. I ordered salmon and shrimp rasta pasta, I got snapper. The service is absolutely horrible especially if you are sitting in the top part of the restaurant. I went there this past Sunday for Father's Day and my family and I waited for almost 2 HOURS for the meal to come. Our server basically disappeared and forgot about our table and we had to ask a different server to attend to us. Not to mention many tables were handed food before us who came after us, and many tables had to ask for silverware. The drinks took an incredibly long time to come also. When we spoke to one of the the managers, he made an excuse for the workers instead of addressing the issue. This place was such a great find at 1:30 AM after leaving a show at the Amphitheater and walking in hopes of finding food. I never thought I would find food this good!! I had the oxtail stew with rice and peas and man, it hit the spot in a big way. Waitress forgot our drinks, didn't even apologize just made it seem like we never ordered them as she asked if we had told her if we wanted drinks. We finally got our drinks after what feels like 20 minutes, I noticed that everyone after us was already eating so at this point I'm just thinking she forgot about us again because she did not say anything to us. We sat for minutes 50 minutes then I finally couldn't take it so I approached another waitress that I saw and asked her about how long the food should take when our waitress came out and said we will be getting our food so I just sat back down thinking if we should just leave. The reason why i gave this place 4 stars i solely because its food was so on point. I had Rasta Pasta with Cajun Chicken and My Boyfriend had Jerk Chicken with rice. It took forever for someone to take our order for our food. When they finally did it was out pretty fast but the portion of rice my boyfriend received was so measly he asked if he could order another on the side. He wanted to enjoy his rice with the chicken not eat a plate full of chicken with a spoonful of rice. The waitress said yes and took about 15 minutes before she even went back to go tell them that we needed another portion of rice. The rice took so long to come out that my boyfriend was damn near finished with the rest of his food when it did so it was not even needed anymore. He asked another waiter if he could help because the woman who was our waitress kept walking past us avoiding our eyes. The live Bands - we could have survived without them. Especially on some nights. Hey, NYC/Brooklyn is already loud as it is. So can we skip the bands next time? The food though was everything we needed to survive such big city. I grew up in Brooklyn but i left about 3yrs ago and decided to come back with a few friends and family and we went to Footprints (the original on clarendon was too packed) so we went to surf ave. I loved everythiing about it except the live band. The jerk shrimp and rasta pasta.... I could absolutely take another trip back to NY/BK just to enjoy some more of that. My kids love it. My 7yr old who is hard to feed loved the pasta. So I was more than impressed. read more

It was one of the worst experience I had this summer ! It was 90° out side and I had on a tank top around 1 o'clock in the afternoon. The hostess told me I cannot enter with the tank top on. (Meanwhile the restaurant is next to a beach by Coney Island )so I had to put the shirt on because that was their store policy. But I had a shirt with me because I know it gets cold in the restaurant because of the AC .then I sit down and I ordered a steak medium well it came back burn and well done. Then 10 minutes later I see a guy sitting down with a tank top on which I thought wasn't allowed. To top that off the music they was playing had so much curse words in it I couldn't even listen to it anymore. But they want to complain about tank tops but they have music playing with so much profanity. And what really made me get up and leave was that they had so much flies and nats that you couldn't enjoy the food that was kind of good because you had to swap the flies and nats away. read more

I took my husband there for dinner because, he longed for his "home" food. The table we got was looking real bad, strips of varnish or paint missing. They need to upgrade the furniture. He ordered the Jerk Salmon with the rasta pasta and I got the Jerk Chicken breast with white rice plaintains and cabbage. All I can say is my white rice was delicious. My husband rasta pasta was drowning in OIL and SALT. The salmon was Salty and Salmon does not need much salt. My chicken breast was the size of a turkey breast and was tough like leather. It was sent back. They tried to make mac n cheese, it sat on my plate like a brick and that too was SALTY. My husband got a size of "bammy" he liked that. I also got a take home fried shrimp size for my daughter. she liked it. Who does NOT like fried shrimps? The Irish moss drink was pleasant. Over all, that was my last visit. The young lady that took the order, she was not to pleasant, not one smile on her face even when I tried to smile with her. Our bill was $71.00 THANK GOODNESS I had a certificate for $25.00 off. This is my first time writing a review on Yelp but this experience was so horrible that I had to. I live a few blocks away so I decided to put in an order and have my boyfriend pick it up on his way in. I don't know why i did because their food is usually disgusting. When you say grilled they burn it. But every few months I give them another chance with hopes that they've pulled it together. Ordered the chicken and shrimp Rasta pasta with a side of cod fish cakes. First of all the cod fish cakes were like rubbery balls with no flavor just pepper and this is coming from a Jamaican American who knows food. The rasta pasta was not fresh and heavily soaked like it had been made for awhile and they just warmed it up. The measly 3 shrimp (YES 3!!!) were burned and soggy. The chicken was old hard and dry and I would put my life on it that this wasnt made to order. I was livid because I had a long day and was starving so I decided to call and place a complaint to the manager. The female who answered the phone was very unprofessional asking me "who dis" I told her a very disturbed customer. She then placed me on hold for about 10 minutes before she came back to tell me "he left" UN-Freaking-believable!! This place sucks.. I had a reservation for 11pm and was told to have my party of 15 arrive 30-60 minutes early.. The hostesses spoke so unprofessionally, and did not seem at all concerned that we were so uncomfortable.. We waited that time plus an additional 45 mins.. The waiting area is small and theres no space to even stand straight.. Thennn when we were finally called, the employee grabbed my drink out of my hand while i was walking.. Thats all before we were seated, by a waitress who is rude as hell.. While taking orders, she says "helloooo".. Thats so rude.. We've now been waiting an hour and a half, and the waitress hasnt come over not once to check up on our party.. We asked about the food and the waitress just said "soon" and walked away.. This is the most ridiculous treatment.. Not to mention, a party that was just seated had lemons in their water, and we did not get any..
