Julian came over and assisted us with selecting the proper supportive shoes for my friends needs. He was very kind and patient, thoroughly explained the type of support different shoes had to offer. She tried on three or four different pairs of shoes. Top choice pick was a multi colorful stylish and functional sneaker. Customer service ? Very good . This nice gentleman helped me with all my questions in regards to the water sound that I wanted. Unfortunately, didn't carry what I wanted, but he did suggest where to go, which was REI. He was so knowledgeable that I was able to choose the right footwear that I would be taking with me to the Philippines and yes, I did end up at REI but for the same shoe, I bought it on Amazon because it was way cheap. I had the pleasure of being helped by Doreen. She rocks! She not only understood what I was looking for was infinitely patient while I tried on lots of shoes. Doreen is very knowledgeable and consultative which really helped me narrow down my choices. I ended up leaving there with a pair of Hokas, some really trendy and Ilse Jacobsen's and Oofos. What has happened to our favorite shoe store? We just had the worst customer service ever at Footwear Etc. Hillcrest. We have been going there for well over 10 years with knowledgeable staff that were excellent on customer service and were experts on the store inventory. This time we asked a simple question about a shoe and the first woman who helped us just gave up and wouldn't help us but not before arguing with us and storming off in a huff. The second person who helped us knew nothing about the shoes in the store. How is that possible when you are selling shoes at a shoe store that you don't know anything about the merchandise. Also asked for our phone number in a very rude way to look up our account. We might try to go to the Encinitas branch but it is a long drive and not convenient. SO disappointing! UPDATE: So all is not lost. We had to go back to the store to pick up our shoes that were ordered and Zak helped us this time. He is an assistant manager and he was very knowledgable and helpful. He was pleasant, listened to our needs, found what we needed and even sold us another pair of shoes as a result. Giving 4 stars because although it began as a very bad experience, Zak came to the rescue and was excellent. In addition the Company has reached out to rectify the situation and I will be checking in with them so that our favorite shoe store keeps up the quality of service we have so appreciated in the past. read more

I would have never shopped at this store if it hadn't been recommended by my doctor. It turns out I should be wearing a more supportive shoe if I want to avoid foot injuries in the future. This shop was very nice. They carry a wide variety of shoes: casual, athletic, professional and accessories (handbags, socks, hats) so I was impressed. The customer service was fantastic (thanks Zak). It has been many years since I have shopped at a shoe store whereby the salesperson actually takes the time to put the shoe on your foot. Maybe it just me but most shoe places bring out your shoe choices in a box that they hand to you and they leave you alone to try on your shoes. It was refreshing to have an actually salesperson take the time to put on my shoes and elaborating on the fit, style and design of the shoe. I would not have thought to go to this shoe store for athletic shoes because I usually hit one at the mall but I had a Hoka return, and this was one of the places to return them. JACKSON was awesome, he was so polite and knowledgeable. The store had many customers and he asked about my return. I said I bought them online and never tried Hoka's before. He said it's always best to try before you buy so you get that right fit for your situation. After he asked me a few questions, he made a few recommendations and immediately came back with shoes to try. I felt bad because I thought I jumped the line and he said he had everyone handled - and he did. I wasn't use to this personal one on one experience and it was great! As an employer, getting employees that are helpful, courteous and enjoy their jobs are hard to find and I hope that he is recognized by his boss and company because he is an asset to their team!
