And they weren't there just to hang out--they were there to EAT. That's always a good sign. The brisket cheesesteak left me with more questions than answers. There were definitely some very good bites. The roll was good, the brisket had potential, and there were moments when everything came together. I just wish all those good parts worked together a little better. Sometimes a cheesesteak gives you an immediate answer. This one made me think about it on the way home. $16, fries included. Pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood spot, as it feels so tucked away. I went here with my sister after we left a vintage flea market. We were the only customers at the time, but were encouraged to sit where we like, so we chose to dine upstairs. Our service was great and the food-- this broccoli entree has stayed with me, to the point where I either need to try replicating it, or I seriously need to return here again quickly. The broccoli in the Korean Broccoli was so deliciously crispy. The shrimp was equally as crispy. It was like the perfect marriage, and the sauce was the cherry on top. read more

My friend and I came to this cute neighborhood spot for an impromptu Sunday brunch. First of all, the perogies we got were HOMEMADE by a polish lady. Super legit. Was def blown away by that. The cocktails were all fresh and not too sweet (we had several ), and our mains were delicious and HUGE. My friend made the comment "this is how Philly USED to be" (before price gauging for mediocre food). Our server Kelly was attentive and so sweet and helpful, we asked a lot of questions. My favorite things to get: buffalo wings, old bay fries, and their Caesar salad is by far my favorite one in the whole city and I get it with steak. I came to this bar last night. I heard mixed reviews on it so I decided to try it for myself. When I sat at the bar it took over 10 minutes to get a drink. The place was completely empty and the bar is very tiny. The bartender looked at me multiple times and said she'll be over in a second. It most definitely wasn't a second. When she finally came over I ordered a tap beer. Worst one I've ever had, it had what seemed to be dirt in the drink and the glass was not clean at all. I ordered food and let's just say I would rather eat at McDonalds. I will never come here again the only reason I voted two is because it looks nice. Went to Mifflin Tavern for the first time for my friend's birthday and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered 4 small bites to share and drinks. Both food and drinks were so good! We ordered the cheese sticks, buffalo wings, buffalo quesadilla and garlic and parm fries. The cheese sticks and it was not your regular cheese sticks. These were were wrapped in egg roll wraps and they were crispy, gooey, thicc and delicious. Quesadilla and wings had really good good flavor. Quesadilla was crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. We had our wings ordered as well done so it was really crispy on the outside as well. There's not much to say about the fries; cooked well and well seasoned. Drinks were also really good. Had the blood orange margarita and the blueberry lemonade. My favorite was the blueberry lemonade but because I couldn't taste the alcohol -- it could make it a really dangerous game. The server we had was also very nice. He explained about the cheese sticks (about how it's not like regular mozzarella sticks), made some recommendations and was very attentive thru out the whole night. I am shocked that: 1) this place has so many positive reviews, and 2) that they're even still open. I have been there multiple times as it's close to my house. On multiple occasions they just decide to close on a whim: kick us all out as early as 11 pm when they advertise being open until 2 am. Other days they are just not open at all. The workers, including folks who I believe to be the owners, are unbelievably rude. They have no interest in customer service. Go elsewhere. read more

We'd walked by this place a million times and finally stopped in on a Friday night. No happy hour specials (at least at regular tables) but still a large menu with reasonable prices. I'd say skip the grilled cheese unless you're a kid (it's genuinely just cheese and white bread, nothing to write home about) but everything else was very good! I've been to this bar a times last year so I'm not a newcomer. But I never experienced a bartender that was so rude for no reason. I asked this lady for a drink she rolled her eyes and my friends heard her mumble "no". The best local bar in Pennsport, if you want something more upscale than the typical corner bar here. You will not find Miller, Coors, or Budweiser products on tap. You WILL see Guinness, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, 2SP rotating, Yards rotating, PHL, and many others as the seasons change. Along with a well stocked, full bar, your alcohol needs will be met. Pennsport drinkers will be satisfied. Food is being handled by a seasoned chef, who doesn't F around. Their Bacon wrapped, wasobi shrimp are to die for. Spring Rolls are one of the best I've ever had. Pierogies are his specialty, and options vary with the season. Fries, Tots, are nothing to laugh at. Some of the best in the world, let alone Philly. Traditional pub fair, with a splash of the exotic, a welcome addition to a sorely missing area of Philly. Good crowds, good staff, and a great time, highly recommended for locals, and even those from the traditional spots in Philly. Park under 95 if you're driving, there's ALWAYS spots! Calling the cheese sticks "mozzarella sticks" would be an oversimplification; they have a sort of spring roll-like crust and were, without exaggeration, the best cheese (or mozzarella) sticks I've ever had. The brisket Reuben was incredible and an inventive twist on a classic. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich and described it as "out of this world." Finally, my five-year-old son, who has never eaten more than two chicken fingers in one sitting, ate all four that came with the kid's meal and asked for "one more." Service was great and seating was cool - almost three separate dining areas, with one downstairs and the upstairs divided between inside and outside space. This made it an especially easy spot to dine at for my family of four. I'd also come back for a few pops with friends. Great beer list and loads of TVs. This place honestly has the BEST food and drinks in Pennsport, but honestly the owner is horrible. I called a few days in advance to make sure my service dog was allowed, the lady on the phone said yes, as long as I'm outside. That's strike 1, it is illegal under the ADA act to make a disabled person sit outside, especially in 48 degree weather. Upon arriving we're seated outside under an OPEN tent next to the fire. The owner comes up to us, tells us we must move to an "open" area which happens to be away from the fire. The owner also asked to see my dogs license. All of this is highly against the laws and I'm severely disappointed, since I called to make sure. Sitting outside is no big deal to me especially because of Covid, but being forced to move after being seated and after confirming via phone is very upsetting. It's very simple to follow all ADA laws especially if you only have 1 person a month asking for these accommodations. Keep in mind this has NOTHING to do with the food, drinks, or service. Our server actually apologized for his owners reaction towards us. But because of this owner a spot that's been regular for me will be no more, I'll go somewhere else that actually accommodated those with disabilities and understand the law. By the way, I know the owner will read this all of your actions towards my party and I are highly illegal, and we are taking the proper steps to make sure this doesn't occur to anyone else! read more

My wife and I went to get appetizers after a yelp event that we went to. The first thing that I notice was that we walked into a quizzo night. Even though we did not partake, we had our food and tried to guess the answers as well as we could (Fail). We shared the fish tacos and Cajun Mozzarella sticks. Definitely going to get them again but the mozz sticks were the perfect amount of cheese to spice one would like out of a Cajun mozz stick. Part of me wants to keep this place my own little slice of heaven but what the team at the Mifflin Tavern has done over the past few years is worth the noise and they deserve the praise! Kelly, Joe, and the entire team go out of their way to make you feel like you are sharing a drink and enjoying a meal as a guest in their home. It's perfect for date night, family night with the kids, or a Sunday funday with the boys! The food is always incredible, service is fast and friendly, and they always seem to know what you need. Mifflin tavern is always one of our favorite spots to grab a bite to eat or to hang for a night. It is convenient that they're located a block from our house, but in penns port there's always a bar half a block away, but not like Mifflin. My husband and I have used their upstairs to host birthday parties and have even helped me out for a bachelorette brunch when the original restaurant downtown closed last minute leaving a party of 22+ with no options. Kelly and joe were even kind enough to work with me to keep the price the same as they know the hassle orchestrating a party that large. You won't find the same boring and tired menu here for food or cocktails, they change seasonally, and if you bother Joe enough he may even throw some of your favorites back on there (cheese sticks for the win!). During this pandemic they have worked really hard to keep up with the ever changing restrictions so if you're ever nearby give them a shot, you won't be disappointed! read more

This is one of the best spots in the neighborhood without a doubt. Joe and company give great hospitality and the food is PRIMO. Line music a few days a week and this place is a gem to say the least.
