While waiting for an order to be prepared, I noticed that delivery drivers were not treated with the same level of courtesy and respect that I would expect from a business serving the public. I understand that every restaurant has its own policies, but kindness and basic consideration should extend to everyone who helps support the business, including delivery drivers. I was craving sweet potato fries and remembered that For The Win makes some yummy ones. Lucky for me, a location opened a few blocks from my house a few months ago so off I went. For The Win has built a reputation on its signature smash burger which features a single three-ounce patty smashed thin on the grill until crispy. It's available with or without cheese. My nephew is a fan. I don't eat meat so I stick with the fries. (There is a grilled cheese on the menu.) If you're craving something sweet, they serve thick, creamy milkshakes. (Chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry.) The restaurant is spacious, with tables on each end. Angel greeted me with a warm "Hello." He was genuinely nice and even brought my to-go order over to the table where I was sitting. The fries were warm with a light dusting of salt and they tasted so good, especially when dipped in the fry sauce, which I recommend. The ranch is also good too. The serving size was generous. Haven't ordered from here in a couple months but let me tell you SHRINKFLATION has struck this place hard. I was shocked when I got my order today, it was TINY. Tiny burger, no crispy skirt/edges, the smallest order of fries. It was like a small order from McDonalds. Price hasn't changed, if anything it'll increase and it's not even worth the current price. I arrived at this restaurant as a delivery driver to pick up a customer's order. While waiting, I politely asked to use the restroom and was told that only paying customers are allowed to use it. I understand businesses can set their own policies, but I found this disappointing. Delivery drivers help restaurants serve their customers and often spend long hours on the road. I saw a Youtube video about the smash burger craze in LA. For the win was included. Loved the story how it started during the COVID-19 lockdown (look it up, great story!). Anyway, that was enough to give it a try. Had no idea they have so many locations. That's awesome. Here we go with the Highland Park location review. Parking: Small lot and you better be good at maneuvering your car because you'll likely have to do some dodging and weaving because of how it's laid out. Not a lot of spaces. Plenty of metered street parking nearby so that's an option, too. Love the space. They have done a perfect job laying it out. The music was way too loud but I asked them to turn it down and they kindly obliged (my friend and I were the only ones there). The music was excellent, by the way. You can order on a touch screen, but a super kind and friendly employee took our order at the register. Take note, for drinks, they are all canned soft drinks or water bottle. No fountain drinks or ice to go with your soft drink. They also have shakes by the way. We ordered cheeseburgers, fries and Brussels sprouts. Cheeseburger: $9.90. Smashed real good! More burger than bun. Speaking of bun, it's a great bun. Not too bready and its warm and not dry, Seasonings and toppings were perfect. I ordered extra onions and had onion breath all day to prove it. Worth it!! So good!! Fries: $5.25. Nice and crispy. Nothing notable. A little pricey. Brussels sprouts: $8.45. Excellent! Great smash burgers! Came in for their grand opening. Inside is simple and clean. Decent amount of seating. I got the double cheeseburger and some brussel sprouts. So good! Great charred bits at the edges and cheesy in the middle. Brussel sprouts are a great option and made me feel like I was eating at least a little bit healthier lol. i'm not gonna score anything less than than three, which for me is OK at best. I don't see myself rushing back over here. It just wasn't an overwhelming gotta have another for the wind burger moment.. First time here and when I opened the door, I literally thought I stepped onto the revolution Boulevard in Tijuana. The music was so loud so blaring you couldn't even hear yourself. Talk to the next person beside you.. this is an all American burger joint and there's Mexican music blaring like we should have chips and salsa and margaritas. Don't get me wrong. I love diversity, but I think he kind of might want to rethink that one. Or the least you could do is turn it down a little bit.. If we're a first time person, it was a little hard for me to figure out where the menu was what you had to offer how the ordering process was I just kind of stood there like a dare headlight. Your crew wasn't very welcoming. They seemed very robotic and their mannerism.. And I seen that things were kind of à la cart, which is something I'll never quite understand in a burger joint like this. So I got the double with bacon and a strawberry shake and I gotta tell you I'm shocked at the price point for the size of the burger and the size of the shake. It was really interesting to see.. And I'm gonna be honest with you the burger was OK. I ate it. Shake was OK. I drank it.. But there was absolutely nothing with that burger that I could not do it in my own kitchen. Finally stopped into the HP FTW and have only good things to say. Our smash burgers were perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Every single bite was delectable. We ordered sweet potato fries and regular fries for sharing and they were also cooked and seasoned to perfection. Our strawberry shake had actual strawberry puree and was creamy, not overly sweet and just the right consistency. Everything was so satisfying and tasty. The restaurant is pretty spacious and clean with enough table seatings for maybe 18 patrons. The parking lot can be crowded, as it's shared with Mason's Dumplings, and a few other places. You can always find street parking though. The ladies working were super nice too. You should definitely go and dine in. I know we'll be back soon. read more

This location missed the mark for me. Let me start off by saying, I've been eating for the win since it was Papilles bistro. True story - my wife and I spent 4 days in the hospital after our son was born, once we got the okay to go home, we came straight to Papilles and got some chicken sandwiches. Way back when, I would argue with people that they were THEE best chicken sandwiches around. I used to work two blocks away in Hollywood and would walk to that spot all the time. Naturally, I had high expectations and a large amount of excitement now that there was a location near my house in HLP. I visited this new establish after a dentist trip. I was the first customer of the day. I ordered my usual, a double bacon smash with jalapeños. The patties were slightly gray and didn't have that good finish that one expects from here. Then the guy working forgot the Jalapeños. I asked about them and he gave me a small cup of ice cold jalapeños. I had to add them on myself. Not the biggest deal, but also not a good first look. But the burger was disappointing. It was not cooked well. I would like to chalk it up to the grill not being hot enough but I don't think ide come back to this location, pay $17+ for a burger and have it be mid at best. read more

My first visit was not great and the owner very graciously gave me a coupon to give them a second chance. The young lady who helped me was aces and this was a much better experience but honestly, I just don't understand the hype. The double cheeseburger and fries were fine but not only was it not the best burger in LA as many on social media have claimed, I didn't think it was even as good as a double double and it's three times the price. Ambiance is simple, but the design is nice in my opinion. Everything was clean. I would honestly invite everyone to check them out and rate them according to your own opinion. And then added salt ...and then step away to look at the computer....And then add salt again....And then talk to a supervisor about something. And then add salt again. Holy hell I have met my sodium quota for the next year. And the fries were burnt. But I guess that's the trend for places like this. Burn everything. Salt everything. News flash...smash burgers have more char on them and more char/burn means a higher chance of getting cancer. Look it up. This place also was victim to locals tagging it. Sad. I started eating at For The Win a couple years ago at their Hollywood location and now more recently I eat at the Glendale one. (Food and service have always been great till now) I was very happy about the HLP location since it's my hometown. Sunday I went, bought like 3 burgers and when I asked for a cup of water the guy with dreads looked at me rolled his eyes and pointed at the fridge where the bottle water was at. (Insinuating that there is no free cups of water, I would have to buy a bottle). No words, rude for no reason because they have an electronic kiosk that takes your order so I had no prior interaction with him for him to be so rude. And all he had to say was "we only sell bottled waters" It was disappointing as it was our first time at the HLP location that this was the service we received.
