I saw a Youtube video about the smash burger craze in LA. For the win was included. Loved the story how it started during the COVID-19 lockdown (look it up, great story!). Anyway, that was enough to give it a try. Had no idea they have so many locations. That's awesome. Here we go with the Highland Park location review. Parking: Small lot and you better be good at maneuvering your car because you'll likely have to do some dodging and weaving because of how it's laid out. Not a lot of spaces. Plenty of metered street parking nearby so that's an option, too. Love the space. They have done a perfect job laying it out. The music was way too loud but I asked them to turn it down and they kindly obliged (my friend and I were the only ones there). The music was excellent, by the way. You can order on a touch screen, but a super kind and friendly employee took our order at the register. Take note, for drinks, they are all canned soft drinks or water bottle. No fountain drinks or ice to go with your soft drink. They also have shakes by the way. We ordered cheeseburgers, fries and Brussels sprouts. Cheeseburger: $9.90. Smashed real good! More burger than bun. Speaking of bun, it's a great bun. Not too bready and its warm and not dry, Seasonings and toppings were perfect. I ordered extra onions and had onion breath all day to prove it. Worth it!! So good!! Fries: $5.25. Nice and crispy. Nothing notable. A little pricey. Brussels sprouts: $8.45. Excellent! Pricey, but tasty! Verdict: A mighty fine smash burger. Worth a try. Not cheap, but you'll enjoy it.

Great smash burgers! Came in for their grand opening. Inside is simple and clean. Decent amount of seating. I got the double cheeseburger and some brussel sprouts. So good! Great charred bits at the edges and cheesy in the middle. Brussel sprouts are a great option and made me feel like I was eating at least a little bit healthier lol. Great addition to the neighborhood. Will definitely be coming back. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's a small parking lot in front, meters on the street, or a meter lot across the street.

UPDATE! I returned for another meal and this time the lacy crispy halo was there in all its glory! Thank you For The Win!!!

i'm not gonna score anything less than than three, which for me is OK at best. I don't see myself rushing back over here. It just wasn't an overwhelming gotta have another for the wind burger moment.. First time here and when I opened the door, I literally thought I stepped onto the revolution Boulevard in Tijuana. The music was so loud so blaring you couldn't even hear yourself. Talk to the next person beside you.. this is an all American burger joint and there's Mexican music blaring like we should have chips and salsa and margaritas. Don't get me wrong. I love diversity, but I think he kind of might want to rethink that one. Or the least you could do is turn it down a little bit.. If we're a first time person, it was a little hard for me to figure out where the menu was what you had to offer how the ordering process was I just kind of stood there like a dare headlight. Your crew wasn't very welcoming. They seemed very robotic and their mannerism.. And I seen that things were kind of à la cart, which is something I'll never quite understand in a burger joint like this. So I got the double with bacon and a strawberry shake and I gotta tell you I'm shocked at the price point for the size of the burger and the size of the shake. It was really interesting to see.. And I'm gonna be honest with you the burger was OK. I ate it. Shake was OK. I drank it.. But there was absolutely nothing with that burger that I could not do it in my own kitchen. Nothing was special about the meat. Nothing was special about the bun and you have the audacity to charge that price point and then say here is your condiments on the table dress it yourself.?? I just don't get it, but I wish you well. And you might want to do a little something to bring some color, some vibe into your dining area. It was very vanilla.

Finally got to try this new spot in town! The service was great! The burger was on point! The fries were on the salty side for me but they were good! Definitely check it out!

Stopped by to try this new place it was late in the day so we ordered light got a double cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, fries and a grilled cheese. My husband had the burger and fries he said the burger was super oily the fries were ok. I got the grilled cheese oh and it was like a child's size super small ( I don't eat meat) and I couldn't even eat the Brussels sprouts or fries because they're cooked in beef tallow . The guy behind the register was a bit snappy the place was nice but won't be going back.

My first visit was not great and the owner very graciously gave me a coupon to give them a second chance. The young lady who helped me was aces and this was a much better experience but honestly, I just don't understand the hype. The double cheeseburger and fries were fine but not only was it not the best burger in LA as many on social media have claimed, I didn't think it was even as good as a double double and it's three times the price. I wish them well and grateful to the owner for doing right by the first experience but, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning.

It was getting late, so while I waited for the kid in the car at their activity, I went on The Heights website found an order form and placed an order for some sammies all in 5 minutes. I didn't even ask the hubs or the vegetarian kid what they wanted. I went with what I thought they'd like. 15-minutes later, I was picking the sandwiches up at the walk-in only shop. There was no line and better yet, they were wrapped up and ready to go when I walked in. The smiling lady asked if I wanted napkins or utensils. They have case after case of cold drinks so we picked out a couple of drinks, paid for those and left. It was easy and fast. Enjoyed the yumminess at home. I normally would save a half for another meal but my "Pasadena" hit the spot that I finished it up all at once. Quality bread, meats, cheese, fillings aka all the ingredients...to boot! PS the kid loved theirs and so did the hub. Thanks for making dinner: easy and delicious! There are no pictures because it was too delicious to take the time out and take any. Just order.

So, on our way home from spending the morning in Pasadena, we stopped in for a late lunch. It wasn't too busy when we arrived with a couple available parking spots right in front. The team member at the register was friendly and helpful as he answered our questions. Given our mutual love for pastrami, we decided to begin our experience with both versions -- House and Oinkster with chili fries to share. We were given a number, then got ourselves seated. Our order arrived just a few minutes later. Both pastrami sandwiches were pretty solid -- fresh and tasty. We can't say it's our favorite, compared to others we've had, but well prepared overall. I enjoyed the caramelized onions and red cabbage coleslaw in the Oinkster. The husband is a fan of the small container of horseradish mustard that comes with it. The chili fries were ok. The vibe is old school. The space is clean and bright. There was a constant flow of customers while we dined. It was apparent that most enjoyed having a beer with their meal. I looked at the menu and honestly all the sandwiches looked so good that it was hard to just choose one, but I wanted breakfast so I went with the Plain Breakfast Sandwich. I was asked how I want my egg cooked and I chose sunny side up. Options for cheese were swiss or provolone and I couldn't decide and I was able to get a slice of both on my sandwich! I also ordered a bread pudding on the side. After ordering I was given a little buzzer that would go off when my food is ready. I hung out and didn't wait too long until my buzzer went off and it was a nice loud beeping that would be easy to hear if I had left it in my pocket. After the food is ready then you pay. When I went back to my car and I couldn't help myself I ripped open the bag and I was in awe of my sandwich. Look at my photos, do you see that melty stretch of cheese that is so perfect??????????? The meatloaf itself was tasty, and no so thick that it made the sandwich hard to eat, while the salad added a nice vinegar-y flavor that worked well with the mayo and mustard. It was also a good sized sandwich. While, as I said, it wasn't too much, it also wasn't too little. No sides or dessert required. I also got an iced latte, as I always do, and while it was flavorful, and thankfully not too milky, it also had a bit too much ice. As for the place itself, it was clean, and had a fun diner vibe. It wasn't huge, which probably means there's lines for brunch on the weekend, but when I went -- noon on a Wednesday -- I waited only a moment, though I did have to sit at the counter. The staff were also really nice, though it did take a moment for my waiter to notice me sitting at the counter. Two other things worth mentioning. First, the napkins were the small, flimsy kind you get from a napkin dispenser, which was an issue because the meatloaf sandwich can be a bit on the messy side. Good thing there one of the napkin dispensers was right in front of me, and full, because I used a lot of them. Second, parking is an issue. It's only street parking; I had to swing around the block a couple times before I found a spot. Which, again, makes me not want to go there on a weekend.
