Amazing breakfast restaurant serving diner style food but also Thai classics. I love this mix! The food here is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I love how they bring out a jar of homemade salsa to each table, which goes perfect with their egg dishes. Yum. Can't wait to come back.

My favorite diner in all of Los Angeles, maybe best in CA. I love it here- the vibe, the friendly service, great breakfasts & lunches. Love that they have a Thai menu too and even loco moco. This place reminds me of east coast diners I sometimes miss. Easy to park near and lots of cute shops to visit after. Best pens for signing the check too!

Been coming here for years! Did a review years ago but it somehow disappeared. Anyways, the food here is always good and made freshly all the time!! Very good food with many options to choose from. Today I ordered the protein omelette with home fries for my side. It was very delicious too. The service is always good and the ladies are very welcoming! We known them for many years and they are always pleasant and very accommodating. The ambiance is like an older mom and pop diner. This restaurant is good sense it has many different types of food options to select. I will recommend all breakfast items and their sandwiches and Chinese options are superb as well. You can park on the street or in the back. -Marshay D.

Updated menu at Armon's Coffee Shop

Open for breakfast and lunch; reopens for dinner 5pm-9pm. Plenty of curbside or rear lot metered parking..Everything about this cozy and friendly neighborhood coffee shop is spot on! Weekend breakfast can be busy with local families, it you can always find a seat within a few minutes wait. Outside patio seating available too. The various offerings of hot and cold dishes also include Thai-oriented plates. I like the 'Dr's Special of sauteed chicken, green pepper, chili. and light gravy over rice. The hamburgers are awesome. It's very affordable and filling. The food is delicious, balanced, and served in a timely manner. You can opt for Booth or counter seating; all are well kept, sanitary, and well padded. Overall, it's been a great place for me the last 12 years I lived here. The best in town!

Tried their LOCO MOCO (new item), and happy I did. It was delicious, added their house salsa on it too! 9 out of 10 for me!

Cute little diner with a Thai twist! Food portions were good and the service was quick. This place is one of the oldest in the area and it's really nice to dine in here because it's not too crowded.

Hamburger Steak and Eggs

Easily one of the best diners in Eagle Rock. That is saying something because there are over five well-known ones that I can think of and I'm sure there are a few more that I can't. Every time I stop in it's always very busy, but the wait is never that long. We were able to be seated immediately when we arrived for our 10 AM Sunday brunch. They have a lot of seating indoors as well as out, but I always prefer to sit inside to really soak up the diner atmosphere. This is an Asian-influenced diner that has a lot of Asian flavors on the menu as well as a mostly Asian staff. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but parking is very easy to find in this part of town. Our server was very polite and everything we ordered came out extremely fast. I wanted to mix up my usual order so for my last visit so I chose the Hamburger Steak and Eggs. It's basically a large hamburger patty but cooked just like a steak and honestly, it was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the side of hashbrowns was as good as I hoped. The portion sizes are large and the prices are fair so it really is a great breakfast or lunch option. I would recommend to any diner fan or anyone searching for a great breakfast option in Eagle Rock.

Stepping into Armon's Diner feels like a trip back in time. With its retro '50s countertop and vintage decor, the place oozes nostalgic charm--though the two wall-mounted TVs feel a bit out of sync with the old-school vibe. Armon's is an American family dinner serving the local residents with classic breakfast and lunch options. This restaurant is filipino operated. So you will see some Asian fusion. There is limited off street parking. I got lucky found the last spot without having to walk a great distance. There is limited parking in back. The lot is a shared lot with other businesses. I ordered the Denver omelette, which came packed with diced ham, bell peppers, onions, and gooey melted cheese. It was cooked just right--fluffy and flavorful. The house-diced potatoes on the side were crispy on the edges and tender inside, a perfect complement to the omelette. Service was friendly, quick and efficient, and while the décor is a bit of a time capsule (with a few modern interruptions), it adds to the character. Armon's delivers a classic diner breakfast that's comforting, satisfying, and full of charm. There is currently two surcharges applied to most patrons check $1.00 for all egg dishes. 3% to all patrons checks. The 3% surcharge is applied to the $1.00 egg surcharge. Basically you will pay $1.03

Established in 1962, Armon's expectedly retro interior was sufficiently charming, but closer inspection had us looking twice. Amidst your breakfast/diner standards, their menu boasts Thai dishes like shrimp tom yum and chicken tom kha (plus not-so-Thai chow mein and shrimp fried rice). But what really sold us was that half of everyone had their eggs and/or bacon with white rice on their plate. Sitting cozily low at a diner counter you could easily rest your elbows on, out came generously portioned plates with hot, steaming rice fresh out the cooker: Hamburger Steak & Eggs for the lady, and Corn Beef Hash & Eggs for me. Having grown up chubby but half-Filipino, corn beef hash has always been an infrequent but celebrated home breakfast. One year it was almost once a month, but most years you could all but count on one hand. As a free-willed adult, I probably have it 1-3 times a year, but that's largely due to the woefully finite amount of love that most breakfast joints put into this dish. But not here. With a cohesively crisp bottom akin to dumpling lace ("served up"), much justice was done for this oft undervalued dish. In lesser hands, such crispiness is at the expense of the overall texture; where gristle-like crumbing slips through the prongs of your fork. But not here. Instead, it was light and juicy; underscoring the accompanying rice and fried egg; acting as savory solvent for the Sriracha with a few calculated drops of Kikkoman. Instead, this breakfast hit like lost media: a beautifully-salted, Asian-Americana nostalgia I didn't know I was missing.

Armons. Oh sweet Armons. You are our favorite diner in LA. This is a local old skool diner with the 50s counter seats and booths. The food is always great. You can order breakfast and lunch and Thai! They have the best Thai soups ! You can enjoy your meal with potatoes or rice! The complimentary salsa is so good! They just added more Thai dishes and spam and rice n eggs! The best country fried steak too! The ladies who work there are lovely. The cooks are fantastic. The vibe is so warm and homey. Weekends have a wait time but weekdays are easy. Love you Armons fam!

A few TVs over the bar to watch a game. The menu is a yummy selection of Korean inspired bar food. Can definitely recommend the wings, bulgogi burgers, and wagyu bone marrow corn cheese. The cocktails are tasty. Loved the Meet Me in Pearis cocktail. They also have a good, but limited, happy hour (5-8 Wed & Thurs, Sun all day) only served at the bar. The kimchi cheese fries are a great shareable or a good side for a low-key fatty like me. Only complaint is portions are a bit small. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking or a pay lot behind the building.

"Yicha" more like "Yi-naw."…read more I really wanted to like this place, but the experience just didn't justify the hype or the prices. The food looked like it was trying very hard to be trendy and "experimental," but underneath all of that, most of the dishes were surprisingly bland. Not bold, not nuanced, just lacking flavor altogether. For a restaurant positioning itself as elevated Korean-inspired food, the actual taste felt forgettable. The portions also felt wildly overpriced for what you get. Small plates are one thing when the flavor delivers, but paying premium prices for tiny servings that don't leave an impression is another. It honestly felt more like paying for branding and neon lighting than for quality food. And the biggest red flag? The restaurant was nearly empty at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. In Highland Park where good spots are packed on weekends, that tells you a lot. Atmosphere and cocktails can only carry a restaurant so far if the food itself isn't giving people a reason to come back. I already know the response will probably mention "modern interpretations," or "playful experimentation," but none of those things excuse bland food and poor value. Reinventing a cuisine is fine but .... it still has to taste good.

Glassell Park is a hidden neighborhood in Los Angeles, anyway, and if you don't know what you are looking for, you might zip right past W&S, as we did. Parking is hit and miss, but there are side streets and you will find a space if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes before you come. The neighborhood is mysterious to me, sort of pricey grunge & hipster, iykwim. But! Once you are inside, you are in a completely different world. Bright, clean, genteel, muted, with dappled sunlight dripping through various apertures and alighting in a soft glow here and there on shining metal tables. It's beautiful. Some catchy upbeat contempo-pop music streamed steadily at just the right volume overhead. I found myself resisting the temptation to get up and dance. There are several rooms from which to choose, but I wanted to be seated on the wine-red suede banquette that gave me a view of the whole restaurant and out onto the tree-canopied street. From the time we arrived to the moment we left about an hour later, we were showered with warm smiles and attentive service. And the food? Exquisite. See my pictures. It was hard to choose. One tiny disappointment was they were out of the biscuits that I wanted to start with, but I enjoyed the crusty tender Clark Street bread slices served with warm creamery butter instead. It only got better from there. The two bowls we ordered were filled with fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection, topped with an egg prepared as we requested, i.e., over medium. The portions are modest and it was all so good, we didn't take anything home. We ordered coffee and were brought two tall steaming mugs of Americano, smooth, dark, and delicious. Best of all was the Lemon Lavender cake, a seasonal specialty. Honestly, it might be one of the best, moistest, most flavorful and elegant cakes I have ever had. So fantastic, that I just ordered some lavender buds (if I don't collect them from our garden) to replicate it at home. I don't drink much alcohol but if I did, I would head here for one of their experiences or tastings -- they have a formidable list. Check all this out. And hurry if you want to have Lemon Lavender cake.

Everyone also didn't feel particularly welcoming, from the hostess to the waitress (no smiles). Thankfully, we were seated outside for some fresh air, although the warm murky smell still lingered a bit outdoors. The menu seem fairly limited since nothing really stood out to me as especially exciting. I've studied the menu prior before going, and was only looking forward to their burger, but they didn't have it during dinner apparently. While the dishes were descripted very well on the menu, there was no depth in flavors. I'm talking about the pork belly, lamb chops, tartare, Spanish octopus, and especially the seasonal pasta. I'm happy that it wasn't overly salty, but overall the food tasted mediocre and felt a bit basic. I'm only saying this because I could make it myself, at least the lamb, fatty pork belly, and pasta. Portions were also on the small side. Service was a bit slower as it took some time to get seated and receive our food, and one of our dishes was forgotten until we reminded the staff after already finishing most of the meal. On the positive side, we were able to find easy street parking about a block away, and the restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance that would probably be great for a chill dinner with some wine. However, my group left still feeling very hungry and unsatisfied. To be fair, we came in hungry, and the portions and long wait didn't help.
