Amazing chops and steaks the absolute best scalloped potatoes mouth watering mashed potato spectacular

This restaurant lives up to it's name! Forage, a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I was puzzled at first, then found the flavours from around the world endearing. Lara, our server was kind, sweet and answered all our questions with patience. Appetizers: -Grilled calamari with Cajun seasoning: Well cooked, good texture and one of my favorite dishes. -Crab cakes: Curried cakes served on top of a smoky chipotle aioli next to fresh sprouts and slice of fresh avocado topped with sesame dressing. -Mussels, Thai Sauce: The Thai broth/sauce was out of this world flavourful. Fresh ginger, chili, coconut milk and right amount of sweetness but a few mussels were undercooked. -Focaccia & Olive tapenade: Delicious crispy crust and tapenade loved by all! -Cesar Salad Mains: -Forage Salad-Beautifully plated and was thoroughly enjoyed.(cashew hummus, fresh sprouts, quinoa, arugula, cherry tomatoes, red onion, sesame dressing) -Thai Chicken wrap with fries. Probably our least favorite dish. Chicken fingers, nuts, sprouts and a Thai sweet chili sauce in a white flour tortilla wrap. -Seafood Linguini. Portion was generous, plenty of mussels and shrimp to satisfy. -Cheese Burger was good. -Salmon with veggies. I had the Shrimp and Scallop Curry with Basmati rice. In the sweet yellow, Thai style curry, a medley of fresh vegetables(broccoli, cauliflower, red/yellow peppers, zucchini, carrots, mushroom swam with approximately 4 scallops and 5 shrimps. I ate the entire bowl shamelessly! Needless to say, I was hungry and really enjoyed the flavour. I'm not sure why, but it was served with a side of perfect papadam. Fun but added to the flavour confusion or meli-melo of dishes. Desserts: Keylime pie with fresh cream. Mango sorbet, and according to an Italian guest, very good tiramisu! This was our first vacation away from home for 2 nights at a nearby resort. We found this restaurant by a casual search. We love reading menus and this one struck us as both uniquely varied and unpretentious. We made a reservation, asking for a patio seat. Despite it being a Saturday night some space was available. We were seated promptly and presented with the interesting menu we had researched previously. But let me cut to the chase before I give you the full review. This place would be worth driving in from Toronto (1.5 hours) just to dine! We ordered 2 appetizers. The first was a fresh loaf of French Bread served warm with an appropriately crispy/chewy crust. It came with a delicious olive tapenade, that was well oiled with an excellent and abundant olive oil. Needless to say this is not a 'repas minceur'! An excellent opening to a great meal. Our other appetizer was home made Chicken Pate with a smooth consistency. It was plated with baby gherkins, acidulated sweet onions and a small decorative and tasty salad. It was served with thinly sliced and lightly toasted French bread. A great, smooth pate, with a subtle yet extremely pleasing taste. And then came the main courses. My wife opted for the grilled calamari and a beet salad with chevre both of which were appetizers. The calamari was tender, nicely charred and the portion was extremely generous. The beet and chevre salad was untouched as my wife was fully satiated! Forage serves large portions. We will both enjoy the salad tonight! I decided to order the seafood curry because a curry featuring shrimp and scallops sounded delicious. It was also something (the scallops) not usually found on an Indian restaurant menu. I was in for a treat! The vegetable were cooked al dente. It was a nice marriage of carrots, courgettes, onions, and small florets of broccoli and cauliflower. On one section of the plate a mound of basmati rice completed the dish. It was awesome! Finally a curry that was not overpowered by too much (any?) coconut milk, and unique in its ingredients and preparation. This is not a spicy dish for all of you who are somewhat reluctant try curries. The next big decision awaited. Desert....but we had been defeated by the portions and the great dining experience. This experience was enhanced by pleasant, professional but relaxed outstanding service! In conclusion: what are you waiting for reserve and eat there! You will not regret it. read more

We were hiking nearby and it was hard to look for a restaurant that's still open for dine in, thanks to covid, luckily we found this place. Food was decent, service was on point, desserts were quite good. Food was quite good for the price, they all tasted better than expected with a decent amount of portion. Rare to find chocolate pecan pie, it's hot when served such a pleasant dessert for the cold weather. The bread pudding with rum sauce was great too, but I wish it's warmer. The only downside is the number of flies within the dining area, I could easily count 7 fruit flies beside me casually sitting on the wall and trying to steal my food and drinks when I wasn't paying attention. read more

Food was good. Service was horrible. I had to approach our waitress, who was folding napkins, to ask for the dessert menu, after having been done our meal for about 10 min. We then ordered pie. It took another 10 min. Other couples were also having to flag down the staff - one person for a fork. Impromptu 1pm Saturday lunch with friends, 6 of us, on Oct 3, 2020.Called 45mins before arrival and got a reservation (sweet!). The service servers were friendly, funny and made food recommendations that were on point. 2 had the signature dish Seafood Stew, others ordered the beef cheese burger, mussels, crab cakes and I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Curry. Meal portions are large (ask for a glass of white wine) and tasty! We had dessert afterwards - key lime pie with whipped cream, raspberry sorbet and I had the blueberry pie with whipped cream. The husband found this place while looking for food and we decided to check it out. It's cozy and a great atmosphere. The service is superb: very attentive, knowledgeable and personable. They seem to have a daily special, which has a good selection and a regular menu that also has a good selection. Starters: Me - Grilled calamari The grilled calamari was tender and not chewy. It comes with a horseradish cream dipping sauce, which pairs really well with it. My only criticism about this dish was that it was over-seasoned and in turn, very salty. Him - Crab cakes The crab cakes you can tell are homemade, they come with fresh avocado on the side. Overall, excellent. Mains: Me - Ribeye steak *special menu The ribeye came with scalloped potatoes and steamed vegetables - good portion size. I don't liked scalloped potatoes, but these ones were really good. It's too bad that 1) the steak, while done the way I like it, had a layer of char to it and all I could taste was burnt and 2) the dish was also over-seasoned and very salty Him - Lamb shank *special menu Fall off the bone, tender! Also, a good portion size and came with scalloped potatoes. Only caution would be is that it was also extremely salty. Dessert (shared): Key lime pie Homemade and delicious! Not super tangy but very flavorful. Service: Would probably be the reason we'd return. The server was super welcoming, answered our questions and was a pleasure. This is a gem in Orangeville. Stopped by this restaurant on Sept 6, 2019 because the name just screams out freshness. Ever since I developed gluten intolerant ... finding a good restaurant catering to my needs has been tough ... but this place was able to deliver. Tonight I was tirn between the shrimp & scallop yellow curry and seafood linguini ... but I ended up with the curry because recommended by the server ... it was delish ... This is quite a good restaurant. Every dish is prepared to order. The Seafood Curry I had was so delicious. Cook perfectly. Stir fried vegetables were cooked yet maintains perfect toothiness. Curry coconut milk broth was superbly balanced. If are near Orangeville go to this restaurant! read more

Enjoyed Lunch here Saturday. Atmosphere was good and the menu has a nice variety. Service staff was attentive and pleasant although lacked a little personality. I enjoyed the Fish but did not find it to inspiring. I also had the Fish chowder which was excellent. You could tell that the owners took great care to provide the freshest food possible which added to the taste. I'm a pescatarian - the dishes I really enjoy include the Shrimp and Scallop curry, the steamed PEI mussels in the Thai curry broth, and the Veggie Burger. Both the yam fries and the white potato fries are very tasty - the yam fries are coated in gluten (flour) if that's an issue for you, you can get regular fries if you can handle cross contamination because they are fried in the same frier. I went most recently with my grandmother who eats meat and she really enjoyed the Calves' Liver. My favorite dish is the Grilled Calamari appetizer (see picture) you wouldn't know how tasty it is from seeing it on the menu but the seasoning + the horseradish cream that comes with it is to die for. Definitely order it if you like squid. Ambiance is nice - it can get a bit loud but there are carpets that absorb noise. We also really enjoyed the Ernest Cider (6.5% alcohol). Where do I start ! first of all this is my first experience in Orangeville and it has been a wonderful experience, the atmosphere was very nice , the volume of noise in the restaurant was very acceptable not loud at all, the music was not loud at all I could hear my conversation!! My favourite restaurants in town. We have been there for so many special occasions. Food is amazing. Calamari is incredible so is the forage salad. Actually everything is. Service can be slow and kind of disappointed when they asked if it was a special occasion and I said it was my 60th birthday bring me a piece of cake. We spent nearly $200. Would have been nice. Not impressed. Came to Forage on recommendation from a friend who loves it. We ordered an appetizer and two main dishes. We didn't receive our appetizer and the burger was pink. The angel hair was delicious but I was done my main by the time a replacement burger could be made. We were not checked up on and there was no compensation offered for our poor experience. When I sought out a manager to inform them of our experience there apparently wasn't one on and our complaint was not acknowledged. Very unimpressed and will not be coming back. read more
