Pasta Bolognese
Sai Geetha K.

One of our friends might have just introduced us to our current favorite Italian restaurant. Looking for freshly made pasta with delicious sauce (made from Italian canned tomatoes) and ready to be surprised with their flavorful special soup of the day? Look no more. Give Forchettina a try! You can thank me later. We were here for dinner on a Sunday. There's enough parking right in front of the restaurant. The ambiance was so great with festive vibes and a Christmas tree right in the middle. Several tables were occupied, but there was enough room for us and we were seated right away indoors. The owner of the restaurant is a friendly lady who handed out our menus and took our orders shortly after. The daily special soup was Minestrone. It was perfect for our chilly night, packed with veggies. Next, we had Spaghetti Bolognese -- it was so light for a pasta with irresistible sauce and noodles. To top off this goodness, we ended our meal with Tiramisu, which tasted good and not too sweet. Coming back to try their renowned lentil soup someday.

Bruschetta was wonderful. Classic, perfect amount of balsamic garlic and basil on killer bread.

Amazing casual place for dinner in the heart of new Encinitas. Great atmosphere and even better food. We had the lasagna and fettuccini carbonara. Both fantastic.

Just revisited the restaurant now that ownership has changed and very happy with the turnover. The new owners are doing a wonderful job changing over and providing great food and nice environment. We had a yummy focaccia and eggplant parm. Service was great. Owner was warm and attentive. Wishing them lots of success. I will be back.

My son picked this Italian restaurant for his birthday and we have the best time. Super quaint and charming while casual. Love the patio option but we sat at an indoor table. The service and food exceeded expectations! Calamari, pizza and pasta were delicious. Can't wait to come back.

We had the Diavola pizza and the Primavera pizza, both were great. The owners came by and were extremely friendly and did I mentioned how great the pizza was? Crust was excellent, limoncello dessert was good also. Definitely coming back.

We came for the Valentine's Day dinner special. I had the Parpadella and my date had the salmon tartare. Delish. We each had a fantastic pizza with a super Tuscan tasty wine For dessert we had the tiramisu. The restaurant was decorated with all kinds of Valentine hearts and roses. They did a great job. Big crowd. Wonderful service.

Eggplant parm sub--Big! Great bread. Inedible due to salt.

New owners and a much more classy and cozy design but annoying music as most pizza places seem to have. Very attentive staff. A much bigger menu including pasta dishes too. Pizza was 5 star for us and was. New York style. We're from that area and love NY style. Delicious sauce, cooked perfectly and correct proportions- not cheese overloaded. Meatballs were good, about a four but have nothing on Rosanna's. They really fell down in the eggplant parm sandwich. Huge portion and the bread was amazing and unwieldy to actually eat but I can deal with that. The eggplant itself tasted smokey or burnt-- it was not fried in olive oil in the typical Southern Italy way. It's also not breaded like Italian American style but that's fine. The smoky taste was really odd. But what killed it was the salt level. It was inedible. Everything else there leaned salty but this was just too much. Neither of us could eat it. Eggplant parm is one of my yardstick items when I go to these restaurants too. Decent assortment of alcoholic beverages. Next time we'll try the pasta and salads. But for now I can only recommend the pizza.

Parma pizza and Carbonara

Parma pizza and Pasta Carbonara SO GOOD 12/10 rating for me. I used to live in little Italy downtown and this place blows every restaurant out of the water. A cute little mom and pop shop and the staff is so nice! Can't wait to come back!

I just came here with my friends and we ordered 2 vodka sauce pastas (one GF), and pesto pasta as well as a gluten free margarita pizza. This was extremely disappointing as we were here in the past when it was "forchettaboutit" and our food did not taste the same. It was SO much better before. We waited over 30 minutes for our food when they were not busy at all and there was no wait, when we asked the update on our food and the guy (we confirmed it was the owner) was rude and said "theres a whole restaurant before you guys" which was just not necessary. The pizza was cold and extremely saucy and looks like it just had bagged mozzarella cheese thrown on top and a piece of basil and then they called it a margarita pizza. Our friend got a kid size pasta, and we got the regular size and the portion sizes were literally the exact same. The regular size was extremely small for the price as well. Both of the vodka sauce pastas had completely different color sauces that did not look the same at all and really just did not taste good. This dish does not taste anything like before and was really disappointing. We were extremely disappointed in our experience here and will not be coming back.

First, let's start with empathy, it appeared that they were severely understaffed with just one busser and one waitress. For that, I feel bad for them. For our experience, they can go ef off. Read below. We visited them on Saturday, December 27th in a group of 8: - Stood at the check in for 10 minutes while the one waitress wouldn't make eye contact with us - Finally sat down, took 20 minutes to get the waitress. However, she did walk by 10 times and ignored us. - I ordered a diet coke. She came back and said they were out of diet coke. - I ordered a tea. It was 1/2 filled and full of tea leaves. I asked for a different pour and she said they were out of tea. - Our meal took nearly an hour to show up. During this time, 8 other tables who ordered after us, got their food prior to us. Clearly, our order was never put in. Here's why the experience is a negative 5 stars. Again, I'm empathetic that they were understaffed. With that... - They could have told us at check in - There was no reason to ignore us - If she had just said, "I'm sorry, we're understaffed, I appreciate your patience", that would have been a decent human thing to do - No reason for her to be rude to us for asking for ketchup for my kids While the waitress was rude, I clearly blame management. If you own this place and you had people not show up, don't put your establishment in the hands of a single server.

Everyone enjoyed all the food. The favorite hands down was the Detroit Style Hot Honey Pizza. It was very rich and I had a small piece which was very filling. The crust was crispy and the flavor was layered perfectly with the hot honey. 10/10! I must also say that the French Fries being fried in beef tallow really enhanced their flavor. Perfect. I think this is a regular occurrence. When the doors open, everyone rushes to get bar seating, which is first come, first served. At the front desk, we checked-in and they sat us at a table in the main dining room. I let it slide since we didn't want to get the Happy Meal anyway, but also wouldn't get any happy hour drink prices. We ordered: * Berry Hot & Bothered - $18 * Societe Bulbous Hazy IPA - $10 * Beef Carpaccio - $29 * Ode-to-Swan - $34 * Johnny Cake & Caviar - $29 * Half-Baked Red Snapper - $48 * Peaches, Peaches, Peaches - $18 * Butter Me Up - $17 The cocktails were fine. Butter Me Up was the best (an espresso martini). The beer was good. The Peaches and Berry drink were very mediocre. Server did get us two small glasses of champagne for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The Beef Carpaccio was amazing. There is a TON of breadcrumbs so if you inhaled, you'll choke. But the flavor was fantastic. Would order again. The Ode-To-Swan reminded me of the Spanish Sashimi at Valentina. Only they put a metric TON of chives on it so you can't even see the fish. This is a huge mistake. The dish was okay but all I tasted was chives. I love sashimi but would not order this again. The Johnny Cake was good but way too sweet! It's basically a thick pancake with caviar on top. The caviar was very savory and the sea bass rillete underneath was smoky. I loved the flavor combination but we could not finish the dish. The half-baked fish was phenomenal. A stunner. Even with the foggy eyeball staring at you. Soo good, I only wished there was more of that sauce on the plate. Even at $50, I would order this again. Total was $270 after tip. They add a 4% surcharge on the bill which is not great. I would come here again but skip the cocktails. Go to SAGO across the street instead for some banger cocktails. Parking was sparse. Street level only. We had to park a block away but the walk was not bad. It was 69° so the weather was perfect. Service was good but our server was clearly trying to get us to order more food. We did not need a second entree or a plate of carrots or potatoes. I would come back, mostly to try new dishes. The food is expensive but interesting in a way you don't know what something will taste like. Please ditch the chives on the sashimi!
