I've been driving Ford vehicles for over 20 years. I must say, this shop gave me the best experience that I could have asked for. I was told that my vehicle (a 2018) wasn't worth repairing, by a well-known shop in my area. I was devastated! I gathered myself and decided to get a second opinion, then I called Ford Performance Specialist in Mabelton, GA. Doug answered the phone, listened to the back story of how I got to this point, then he confidently took control of the conversation, leading with his expertise. That was exactly what I needed, and I expressed to Doug how important that conversation was for me at that moment. Long story short...I had the car towed to Doug, he performed a thorough diagnostic test, narrowing down factors to a root cause. I told Doug that I would be patient with him and not be anxious and rush him through the process. Doug is a stand up guy. I called and inquired about getting my truck in because of a fuel leak. I was having trouble finding the parts so I was just going to have it towed to him to fix. He informed me it was an easy fix if I wanted to take it on and walked me through it. He could have easily taken my money and fixed me up and that would have been fine also but he could tell if I wanted to do it myself he was happy to assist. He has been used by friends for years and the moment I can't tackle something myself I won't hesitate a second to leave my vehicle in his care. This is absolutely the worst inheritance I've ever stumbled upon in the history of having lemon rides --- This is far most the most nastiest attitude having ,unprofessional,anti-black type of atmosphere, save ur time -money-and phone calls ------I was even about to b charged for absolutely -----------------nothing. I've been going to Doug at Ford Performance Specialists now for over 20 years and the reason for this is he knows Fords inside and out. As a field service engineer I put about 70-80K miles a year on my car and Doug has helped me get over 500K miles on each one I have used for my work. He is honest, knowledgeable, and won't sell you a bill of goods - he fixes what you tell him you want fixed and only recommends other work if you need it! His pricing is also great when compared to dealerships and/or other garages. He is a master mechanic when it comes to Fords - if you want your Chevy or Dodge fixed go somewhere else. If you have a Ford product and it hasn't been "Dougerized" then you don't know what you're missing in performance and MPG. read more

My initial call out to Doug the owner was a relatively good call where he quoted me $500 for installing a 4.10 gear into my 08 mustang gt. I had been doing my research and so I was happy overall with this price. I was supplying my own gears and oils so this would be the final cost. A couple weeks later I had my $500 saved up and called him back. I asked if I could drop off the car Sunday night for it to be worked on. He said "why not" and so thats what I did. He confirmed that it would take 2 days to complete. This would surely give him enough time as I have read that it really could be finished in 1 day. So Tuesday rolled around so I called up to the shop to see if it was ready. Doug said that it wouldn't be ready today because he had some other cars come through. I was a little confused about why my car was being delayed by some other cars that came in after me. But that was fine. I asked when it would be finished and he said most likely Wednesday but maybe Thursday. I told him well I will have to take off work Wed because I don't have a ride and don't have money to spend for Uber. I let him know that it really did have to be done on Wednesday or else i don't know what i would do. So Wednesday comes around and I call up to the shop a few times and eventually at about 6pm he says I can come on down. I am driving down and he calls me up to tell me that the price was going to be $800. I told him I only have $500. He says well ok but your going to have to pay for the oils. I told him that I was the one to provide the oil. Sounding defeated he said , oh ok. I make it to the shop and am met with an upleseant attitude that was a bit scary at times. He tries one more time to get more money out of me and tells me that he had to use an extra bottle of oil that I didn't provide. I said thats weird that American Muscle would sell a install kit with the wrong amount of oil. Again I tell him that I am tapped out. After the awkward experience of paying for it was finished I asked him if I needed to bring it back to the shop to have the gear oil changed because I had read on many threads that this was required. He said no, I was surprised to hear it but I accepted it, I also asked if there was a break in period. He said no, again I was surprised to hear it as I read that other shops recommended it. Finally I ask if he had adjusted my speedometer for the new gears as he said that he would on the phone. He said no. I even provided the equipment to do it so I was surprised that he didn't do it. But to be honest that was the icing on the cake and basically summarized my entire experience with Doug. Its really unfortunate because he could have had a repeat customer because I plan on doing further things to my car. But I will definitely not be going back to him. The whole experience was a let down. As far as the car goes, yes it is running fine, there is a whine to the new gears and I understand that if they are put in perfectly their should not be, so i'm a little disappointed about that but to be honest more disappointed in the customer service experience. Doug is an older guy who has been doing this a while and you would think that he would know how to not treat a customer. The vibe I got from him was a lack of caring and that he was jaded somehow. I would recommend going somewhere else but if he's significantly cheaper than it will suffice. Just don't expect too much. read more

This is the second time (1st was 4 years ago) we've taken our 2005 Mustang in to have repairs made and once again, they have done a wonderful job, and our car is running better than before it needed repairs. Well where do I start.... First of all this place is like something from the movie Deliverance starring Burt Reynolds. The front office looked like a hurricane hit it and was a complete disorganized mess. The owner Doug literally ignored me for like twenty minutes while he was on the phone coaching someone on how to avoid getting sued for shoddy work performed. And then as I'm listening to his little phone tirade I notice all of this borderline offensive anti Obama propaganda littering the walls. The only thing missing was the confederate flag which was probably in the back of the shop somewhere. I could be wrong but something tells me they're not too fond of certain types of people, which is okay with me because I will just take my car and money elsewhere. If you're a decent person and want your car fixed by someone competent who doesn't need to focus most of their energy on not getting sued for poor workmanship then do yourself a favor and stay away from this place! read more

Doug at Ford Performance Specialists is the most knowledgeable technician that I have ever come across. While traveling through Atlanta in my 2009 F-350 with the 6.4L Powerstroke, I heard a loud pop and immediately lost all boost for the turbo. Luckily when I searched for a mechanic, Ford Performance Specialists was one of the first results. I made it to the shop just before 6 p.m. and told Doug my story. He quickly identified the problem and ran inside to call the Ford dealership close by to see if they had the part before they closed. Luckily they did. Doug then drove me to the dealership (in his wife's Lightning) and we picked up the part. Once we returned to his shop he replaced the part in no time and had me out the door in a little over an hour. Thanks to Doug and his exceptional knowledge and superior technical skills, I was able to make it to the east coast and join my family for Father's Day.
