I had brisket and turkey with mac and cheese and fries on the side, and everything was absolutely delicious. Ford's turkey is our go‑to for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was just as perfect tonight. I'm a regular at the Decatur location, so I was excited to try this location. Unfortunately, my experience was a major disappointment. When I arrived, there was no one at the host stand. A staff member across the bar told me to seat myself, so I did. I waited for a while expecting someone to come by and properly greet or assist me, but no one ever came over. At that point, I decided to leave. Based on this experience, I don't think I'll be returning to this location. I'll stick with the Decatur location, where the service and overall experience have been much better. read more

Actually perfect in EVERY way!!! Met my dad out- our first time! There happened to be a cool car show on Main Street, and we got a GREAT small table on the covered patio. A warm day with a breeze to car & people watch. Families out walking, folks enjoying the cars, older folks, neighbors & a great vibe. A great menu & decent prices. Service was outstanding, our server was attentive & patient with us. The menu is VERY good for any diets, I think. Dad got a basic salad & was Mmmmm Mmmm through the last bite. I had a side of Fried Okra as an appetizer- not as crisp as I like but great flavor. Dad loved his meal & ordered a 2nd full meal to take home for the next 2 days. A lot of food. Menu & pics attached. I believe this may be my new spot, but a 45 min drive from Lawrenceville to Tucker. I had the Smoked Beet Veggie Cuban (no meat). Was SO good!! Actually amazing!!! I don't usually write negative reviews -- I try to give local businesses the benefit of the doubt -- but I have to share what happened here. I placed an online order for over $100 to treat some out-of-town guests to local BBQ. When I arrived to pick it up, the manager mishandled the payment and voided my order instead of just handing it over. He then made me pay for it again on the spot. He apologized, but I'd already lost time on what should have been a simple pickup. When I got home, we discovered a full rack of ribs -- $38 worth -- was missing from the order. I took a photo, grabbed my receipt showing I paid for it, and drove back to the restaurant to sort it out. Instead of apologizing or fixing it, the manager looked at my receipt went to the back for a few minutes, came back out and basically told me I was lying and that there was nothing he could do. I spent over $100 hoping to give my guests a good taste of local BBQ, and instead spent 30+ minutes of my evening being accused of lying about food I paid for, receipt in hand, and never received. That's not how you treat a paying customer, especially one you'd already inconvenienced once that day. read more

You can find Ford's BBQ at 2337 Main St Tucker, GA 30084 - this is right on the Tucker square with free on street parking (sometimes hard to get, especially during prime time) - luckily there are lots scattered about - I often park near the railroad tracks and down some of the side streets. I really, really want to like the BBQ here but there's some quality about it that doesn't work to well for me. The meats are tender, especially the brisket - this is Texas style BBQ so you would expect that. I've eaten here a couple of times and while I certainly respect my friends opinions about the place, I find it lacking a bit. The things going for it: the patio especially during spring and fall. The smoked wings - hard to find them this good. The birra tacos are pretty tasty. If you're really looking for Texas style BBQ they're good if not exceptional. Some of the sides were a bit overcooked but nothing too bad and some are exceptional, like the street corn. The service can be a bit spotty - you'll have servers around at the start but they're really busy so it might take you a while to get a drink refill. Overall and good experience but nothing exceptional. There's not a lot of BBQ available in this part of Tucker so this is pretty much a go-to when I'm nearby and in the mood. read more

My family loves Ford's, but this last visit was kind of a letdown and left me disappointed. I got my usual order of a pulled pork sandwich and a side salad. The sandwich just wasn't as good as it usually is, and the sauce was looser than normal, so it just didn't taste that good. The salad also wasn't what I was expecting. It was just spinach with a ton of onions and tomatoes, and I thought it would be mixed with greens, some cucumbers, and other toppings. It felt like they were overcompensating for not having stuff, but it was just way too many onions. I am just hoping it was a one-off, and it seemed like they were having supply issues because they were out of a ton of stuff, and that impacted the quality of what they had left, but I wish I had known that earlier that day because I probably would have just gone another day. I'll still go again but my expectations will just be a little lower. read more

This is my 2nd time here. I was unimpressed the first time, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Still very lackluster. I sat at the bar and ordered their peach sangria that can be made with/ red, white, or sparkling wine. I ordered the sparkling. It was pretty much all peach schnapps; pretty disgusting. I ordered my food to go. I arrived around 8:50 and they were out of about 4 sides and 2 entrees. I ordered the half slab platter (it comes with/ 2 sides). The firies were ok. The beans were sooooooo hot! I really enjoy spicy (and I mean 10/10) Thai and Indian food, but these were so hot that they weren't enjoyable. The bartender who I ordered my food was gracious enough to let me sample the house, hot house, and hot mustard sauces. I asked her is she could include both the house & the hot house with my order. She assured me that the house would automatically come with the order, but gave me a side of the hot house. I'm glad she did because the kitchen did not include any bbq with my to-go order. The ribs were just okay. I think there plenty of options that are better. This place is way overpriced,. The food isn't good. The staff is mediocre and mildly competent at best. Excellent pulled pork that is juicy, but not overly smoky or fatty with just enough crust. Pairs really well with the vinegary house mustard sauce and salad me a f the best greens I have had in a good long time. Served up by a fantastic staff in a super comfortable spot. Worth traveling across the country for, but just don't tell my relatives who live nearby. read more

My wife and I try different places every Friday. Today was the day that we literally pulled Ford's BBQ out of the bag. We went and I picked the rib sandwich and my wife picked the Fresh Air Sandwich. The ribs were super smoky and super tender but completely unseasoned. My wife's sandwich was season-less meat as well. We will never go back. A complete waste of our hard earned money. If I lived closer, this would be my new spot. I was in the area running some errands, and I remembered that I wanted to try it from seeing it in an Atlanta Eats article. I came on a Wednesday afternoon. I lucked up and found a parking space right in front, but I will say if you don't luck up... Parking can be a little confusing and a little annoying. The menu is pretty expensive, and it was hard to choose what to order because they had so many things I was interested in. I ended up choosing the barbecue nachos, which were an insane portion size, and the fried okra. Both were so delicious. I had to take the okra to go, and it heated up perfectly in the air fryer. I sat outside on the patio, and I really enjoyed the outside space. The inside is fairly small and seems a bit cramped. The service was OK-ish. The waitress didn't really help with narrowing things down and wasn't really great with giving recommendations... I got the feeling she was new, but I wasn't sure. An interesting thing happened while I was there. A woman clearly experiencing a mental issue showed up, and I observed the management handle it really well. Kudos to them for that. read more

If I could give Ford's BBQ more than five stars I would! Wow! I had the brisket sandwich and the cowboy beans. Both were excellent! I couldn't decide on a sauce for the brisket so I mixed the hot mustard and the house. It was great. My friend had the nachos. Wow again!! More than enough to share and so good!! Hoping to be able to improve this one eventually as this can be a really great place when at its best. I have visited this establishment approximately 10 times and can tell you they are very inconsistent from a service point of view. If I return again it will be to sit at the bar, the bartenders are generally nice and helpful. The hosts/servers need some work. They literally act like you shouldn't be there and the last time I went there was a big misunderstanding and I felt like I was gaslighted a bit. I am very hesitant to return. I will say their nachos are fire and the food is really good and I miss that. I hate leaving bad reviews but reading some of the other ones that people have written, I concur. Visited on a nice spring evening and sat outside and enjoyed our meal. They have a wonderful bbq menu with a mix of Tex Mex. After ordering drinks we ordered nacho appetizer and the plantains. The nachos were great and all five of us cleared the platter. The plantains were very good. The table ordered pulled pork, ribs, pork sandwich, and fantastic sides. Our waiter said his favorite is the Brunswick stew and a couple of us ordered and were very happy we took his advice. The service was great and our waiter couldn't have been better. Texas Philly cheesesteak was definitely decent and seasoned and fresh. I also enjoyed my okra and the fraud Street corn was delicious as well. I just wish that they didn't actually cut it up. Amazing BBQ. Brisket platter with 2 sides $23. Super tender with great amount of flavor. Some corners were a little dry but still great. Mac is thick and creamy. Wanted Brunswick stew but were out so had the cowboy beans. They were good but would have like a little more meat. The jalapeño cornbread waffles were friggin insane. Came with a maple butter that had the perfect amount of sweetness to complement the heat from jalapeño's. Super creative menu with different specials daily. Would recommend!! read more

5 stars, for sure. Its hard for me to give 5 stars. As a student of low and slow, certified on brisket, ribs, turkey... I have to admit, the pit master at Ford has some mad skills. It pains me to admit that their brisket is better than mine. But there is no doubt, these guys make really really good brisket I am not sure why the other reviewers found anything less than 5 stars. I would encourage them to come back, and try again. BBQ is a fickle thing. There are those days when that slab of meat refuses to cooperate. Random fluctuations in moisture, smoke, heat could compromise perfection. Its hard to get the stars to line up perfectly, but by god when it happens, the BBQ is outta this world. Anyhoo, the brisket was super tender and juicy. The bark.. oh lawd.. the bark was savory, deep, smoky. And then the smoke ring... wow. We had the fatty cut of brisket and it was not fatty. The fat was perfectly rendered , and the cuts were super juicy and beefy goodness. Come to think of it... this brisket was better then the A5 wagyu I had. Oh yeah.... I'd choose this brisket over the A5 Wagyu. Pulled pork. Again, so juicy and tender. Sides... I think they should just sell their mac n cheese and jalapeno cream corn in buckets. Don;t overthink your sides.. get the mac n cheese. Its awesome. Cheesy, but not cloying. 5 stars all around. This place should get on the map. I can't believe we haven't written a review for Ford's yet! We eat here pretty regularly and have enjoyed all but one of the menu items we have ordered. My absolute favorite item is the smoked beets. They only come on the Mojo Beet Salad and the Cubano sandwich. I really really wish you could order them as a side, though! The brisket, turkey, sticky ribs, burnt ends, smoked wings, jalapeno corn, loaded chicharron appetizer, jalapeno cornbread waffles, and birria tacos, mac-n-cheese, etc etc etc are all delicious. One day I felt like I sat and sampled the entire menu and that's how I fell in love with Ford's! This place is GREAT. As a new Tucker resident, I find myself trying new places cuz I like to 1. Patronize local businesses because DUH and 2. Eat somewhere conveniently close to home that I don't have to go too far out of my neighborhood for GOOD food. That's always been one of my biggest headaches. But BABY, this place here is IT! The inside space is a little small but you can definitely still go here with a group. They have a patio also that is covered so you have that option as well. The servers are a joy, you can tell they really rally behind their restaurant. The drinks are great! They're always very polite and kind when I go and always have great suggestions on food. I love street corn and they have it, there are days where ill just go FOR that and would order double lol Note they will run out of items on occasion and mainly its due to the events in Tucker Area (Taste of Tucker, Drive In Days, etc.) so if you want them, I suggest you get there early on THOSE days! read more

I have been here many times, and found it to have very inconsistent food and service. About 90% of the time, the food is great, but every now and then you get some items that are barely warm, or some very fatty pieces of meat that are really inedible. Then there is the service, which is good about 50% of the time. In our latest visit last week, the seating was only about half full both inside and out, but we were told there would be a 20 minute wait while we stood in the doorway with no waiting area. If they were short on wait staff, you would think they would offer an apology, but go ahead and seat you with a drink. The service was excellent - take-out. The waitress was very friendly. I like the casual atmosphere. So, I ordered the rib plate. The collards were excellent. The mac & cheese was made differently from the last time I ordered, but it was good. I have to speak about the ribs; they were so dry. I was so disappointed (this is not the first time). I hope the next time I order the ribs, they are close to falling off the bone. You gotta be consistent with the ribs. To be clear, this is not my first time having Ford's BBQ - great food. It took me forever to sit down and really enjoy the food. I'd gotten takeout and it was good. But in person, the food is even better. Most recent meal was with my daughter. She was studying overseas and had 36 hours home in ATL. She wolfed all of it. The brisket is fabulous. Juicy but not greasy. Pork was super juicy. This may be the worst Mac n cheese I've ever had from a restaurant. Short review: Flavorless and dry food and I never need to come here again. Long review: It's the 4th of July and I had a taste for bbq, but didn't feel like breaking out the grill. I knew this place opened up nearby in the last year or so and I wanted to give them a shot. So I placed a phone order and went straight home to dig in. I don't know if I've ever been more disappointed! Pork Butt Sandwich - 2 stars: it's listed on the menu as "pulled to order" but it is definitely chopped. There are perfect squares of meat covering the sandwich which couldn't have been pulled. The meat is dry and absolutely NEEDS sauce. Once you add it, the sandwich is at least edible. BBQ Baked Beans - 2 stars: it's more of a pinto bean soup. When I think of BBQ baked beans, I think of rich and hearty flavor, a smoky taste from the added meat, and a thick sauce binding it all together. This was more like Brunswick stew with bits of hamburger and extra beans. Edible, but not good. Mac and Queso - 0 stars: when I hear the term queso, I imagine a rich and creamy cheese that will be covering the macaroni. I assumed it would have a slight kick to it, and really amp up the classic Mac and cheese dish. Boy was I wrong!! I don't know if I got the last scraps from the pan, but the cheese on this dish was non-existent! It was old and dry pasta and I honestly don't know how a chef could allow it to come out of their kitchen. I literally grabbed a square of American cheese, melted it and added it (along with a lot of salt & pepper) just to make it edible. It was still gross, by the way...
