Fried Green Tomatoes, Scrambled Egg and Cheese Biscuit, Old Fashioned Country Boy Biscuit (Corned Beef Hash and Country Sausage)

I had heard from my friends that Old Hickory House was really good Southern restaurant! This is fairly popular place that has old country farmhouse vibes and plenty of seating. There is a breakfast (served all day) and regular menu with lots of options. Both the service and server were efficient and prompt! We got the Fried Green Tomatoes, Scrambled Egg and Cheese Biscuit, Old Fashioned Country Boy Biscuit (Corned Beef Hash and Country Sausage). The biscuits were really soft and flaky. This was a breath of fresh air as a lot of biscuits I have gotten in prior restaurants were rock solid. I enjoyed my Scrambled Egg and Cheese Biscuit, although I wish I added a meat to it for that extra taste. I really liked my Fried Green Tomatoes! They tasted just like I expected them to taste. My friends liked the dishes that they got and said that one cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I would probably rate this place a 3.5/5 stars if I could, only because I am not a big fan of Southern food. But I do think that this restaurant gets the job done for folks who like Southern comfort food. Plus, it is priced very well (cheap).

We went for lunch. I ordered beef ribs, I got the shredded beef. It's okay, little dry because I don't like the sauce to put it on. The service was something to be desired. Got wrong on my drink order. My favorite was the sweet potato soufflé. The ambience is very family vibes. I think I will try for the breakfast next time.

My favorite barbecue - I grew up on it when it was all over the place. Now there's only one left so I have to plan my trip to come by. The Brunswick stew is the star, followed by the beef, pork, and ribs. ( I've never had the chicken.) Love their garlic bread and breakfast, not necessarily together, but it does sound good Put some south in your mouth!

Finally got to try Old Hickory House in Tucker, GA, after my friends Beth & Luis hyped it up. Got there right as they opened, and the parking lot was already semi-full. (Don't worry, there's extra parking on the side!) This place has strong old-school diner vibes, with great service, a massive menu, and tasty food at a great price. I tried: Barbecue Omelet with Beef: Loaded with beef and paired with thick, non-watery grits - perfection. Short Stack with Bacon: Pancakes were tasty, but I wish they had some crisp edges. The bacon was thick, crispy, and just right. Country Chicken & Gravy Biscuit Platter: The real MVP here! Perfectly battered chicken with flavorful gravy on a biscuit that's crunchy on the outside, buttery on the inside, and doesn't fall apart. All this for just $5! The atmosphere is lively with families, and there's a bar-style seating option if you're dining solo. Nikki, my server, was amazing and made sure my drink never hit the bottom. Highly recommend for a solid breakfast experience. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

We took my aunt here the Sunday before Christmas. She loves veggies and they serve different delicious ones daily on the board. The BBQ pork I had was still great after all these years along with the best Brunswick stew in Ga. Inmho. Ambiance is casual with old pictures on the wall. There are tv's but no music so conversation is encouraged. Service was good even though the after church crowd had the place packed. Bottom line Old Hickory House never disappoints.

Good place with space to meet and talk. Service was spotty. Food, nope. No seasoning and presentation is lacking.

Ask the Community - Old Hickory House

I used to frequent the old Hickory house in Charlotte up until they closed. Is this the same group that used to have the places in North Carolina?

    Yes it would be.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q…read more Fox Bros. has that hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint feel, but with plenty of space to hang out. There's a bar along with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the overall atmosphere is casual and laid-back. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and gave us some great recommendations, which definitely added to the experience. We went with the three-meat sampler and chose the brisket, ribs, and jalapeño cheddar sausage, with tots and the Fox-a-Roni for our sides. The Fox-a-Roni--a combination of their Brunswick stew and mac & cheese--was absolutely delicious and easily one of the most memorable sides I've had at a BBQ restaurant. The brisket was honestly some of the best brisket I've ever had. It was tender, flavorful, and easily my favorite of the three meats. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was also really good, and while the ribs tasted great, ours were pretty small and didn't have a ton of meat on them. My only real complaint was the portioning of the sampler. We were told that as you choose a larger variety of meats, you essentially receive smaller portions of each. I understand the idea of a sampler, but we literally received one slice of brisket and two-three fairly small ribs, so the portion-to-variety concept didn't make a ton of sense to me. I would've preferred slightly more substantial portions, especially considering how good the brisket was! I also ordered a cocktail, but unfortunately it wasn't really for me. It came across very sweet and mostly juice, although I think that may have been more about the particular drink I chose than the bar itself. Overall, the food absolutely delivered. Between the incredible brisket, Fox-a-Roni, friendly service, and laid-back BBQ atmosphere, Fox Bros. was definitely worth the stop. I'd happily come back--I'd just skip the 3 meat sampler next time and order more of that brisket!

Nice beer selection with a full bar. This was the second barbecue spot we came to and our local eight year-old expert felt the mac & cheese at the other spot was better, lol.
