First Thing First: Please do not take your car to Foreign Auto Service as their techs are not expert enough and most of the staff is hyper & aggressive. I feel their reviews are all manipulated and Yelp should look into this. I was deceived by these reviews. In my opinion, if you want to change tires, oil or plug the tire, they will probably OK but nothing else. Here is my story: I brought the car (Mercedez S550 2008) to Foreign Auto Service (fasrvc.com) of Chantilly to fix the brake jobs. Brake Issue: The brakes were pulsating when applied and the whole steering also vibrated. Took Car To Foreign Auto Service: So I spoke with Carlos (one of the owners of fasrvc.com). I checked online and 90% of the time all forums were referring to the front brakes except Foreign Auto Service. Tech (Carlos) assured me the issue was because of the rear brakes. And the issue will go away as soon as rear rotors will be changed. I was little skeptical (skeptical in the sense I did have a bad experience from my another previous job when they changed the engine mounts & the brakes and I had the issue as I had vibrations in the body of my car whenever it was on highway) but I gave them a green light as I really needed to get my car fixed. My mistake. Carlos confirmed that he and his tech checked on the car before the repair job and that they were only the rear brakes. Never mentioned anything about the front brakes. He assured me as soon as I will change the brakes all the pulsating issue will be gone. What Happened When I Picked Up My Car: I was surprised to see when I drove my car pass 30 MPH that the same problem was still there (car was driving the exact same way). That was upsetting as I felt cheated and took this car to another mechanic to make sure that it was not the front brakes. Results came back this morning 04/04/19 from the other repair shop and they were the front brakes (they were replaced by foreign auto service a few months ago). I paid the secondary shop $400.00 out of my pocket and didn't feel worthwhile to take my car to Foreign Auto Service as I lost all of my trust. Obviously, if the problem was still there then it was not the rear brakes. Any 4th grader will understand this simple equation. Foreign auto service dragged me to change the rear rotors and unnecessarily made me to spend money when the actual problem was coming form the front rotors. They knew if they point me out to the front rotors, they will have to do it for free (as it was covered under warranty. I felt cheated and disgusted when I addressed this issue to Carlos. My Question: Why I was dragged into the rear brakes when the cause of the issue was the front brakes (that should have been covered by them under warranty and should have been addressed by them on the estimate and should have advised about the rear brakes and then it was upto me to change the rotors or not.). Rather they made me to spend more money in the rear brakes (which was not the cause of the problem). read more

First rate! Let me start with this compliment! Your business was referred to me by my realtor, and he was spot-on in his recommendation. On a Sunday my truck suddenly and unexpectedly overheated, and I got it home after several hours of cooling off and adding a huge amount of coolant. The following morning I was able to carefully get it to Foreign Auto Services--they had the openings to get me in without an appointment. The shop opened early at 7:30 AM. The customer lounge where I entered was bright and clean, and the shop area (from my vantage point) appeared spotless with all tools neatly put back where they belonged. The staff was very friendly, caring, and helpful. The initial diagnosis was quick and efficient, albeit grim. I needed major work done, but Foreign Auto Services broke it down into components: 1) Good; 2) Needs Future Attention; and 3) Needs Immediate Attention. All of this was emailed to me, free of charge, detailing what I should get done now and what can wait until a later service visit. I opted to completed the items that required immediate attention, and the truck repairs were completed by the end of the business day. I was very pleased with the work performed and the pricing was right where I expected it to be for a water pump and drive belt replacement, coolant flush and A/C tensioner repair. I had my first experience with FAS today, and it was very pleasant! I spoke with Scott via phone (to arrange my same-day appointment) as well as in person. He was extremely helpful in hearing my concerns and guiding me through the technician's observations. The technician took photos as well as provided written reports of his findings--very impressive! Scott explained the details of the findings and helped me prioritize what I absolutely needed to give attention to today. He did not push me to do any work either...so calming! I got an alignment, and was very relieved to hear that the original concern was nothing for me to be concerned about (wheew!!). I feel the price was very fair, and the work is backed with a 3-year unlimited mile warranty!! I cannot forget to mention Alfonso...a humble owner of the company, he brought me home and picked me back up, so I can attend to the things I needed to while the staff looked at and repaired my car. And the transportation experience felt quite normal...I didn't feel awkward or as if I was making him do a job he didn't want to do. I'm confident I have found my car's mechanic, and it is with pleasure that I look forward to taking my car back!!! Not only was the experience great, they have Saturday hours, transportation service during weekdays (I am local to the shop), and a team of seemingly committed, friendly, and professional staff! I was a Foreign Auto Services customer for many years before I moved to CO. I still send friends and family there for service even if it's out of their way. The shop has been under the same ownership for a loooong time and that is why I continue to tell people to go there. They have the BEST customer service in the business or any other business I've worked with. I took my wife's car their twice and my car their once. All three times I knew the price was great and also knew that they were not upselling me on anything. They tell you exactly what your options are so you can make your own decision on whether to get something fixed now or wait until you have the time/money to make the fix. They also invest a lot of time and money into making the place run smoothly. It's not just a shop it's a really well run business with an obvious attention to detail and focus on customer service. Carlos is awesome to work with - and I have to say this is becoming more rare these days in Northern VA. The population in the area has grown so much, and due to the high demand for services, many service providers in this area have developed some tastes of NYC, aka, take it or leave it attitude. I was brought to this shop because of Costco auto program. The whole experience was smooth and very pleasant. What's really unique about the shop is it's process servicing customers - from the instant chat (seems like Carlos is very dedicated to this, even for after hours questions), to the onsite interaction, and to the post service feedback. It's clear Carlos really cares about his customers. He also gave me quick quote for some additional services I might be doing in near future and I found the price competitive (I've talked to another shop). It's the small things that set Foreign Auto Services apart from other shops in the area. For me, the most impressive service they offer is an email summary of the inspection they perform on your vehicle, outlining all of the areas on the car they inspected, what they found, what services (if any) are recommended, and (best of all) pictures of everything. Not only do they tell you there's 5mm of brake pad left, there's a picture to show you. The staff is always extremely friendly and courteous, and I've always been given clear explanations of what work they think needs to be done, whether it's critical or not, and why they think it needs to be done. Finally, their waiting room is extremely clean, comfortable and welcoming. There's a vending machine if you get hungry, and the proximity to retail and restaurants (Costco, Target, Famous Dave's, Red Robin, etc.) is a huge plus. read more

This is my go-to mechanic shop. I just took my G8 GT for an oil change and asked they look at my brake pads. After completing my oil change, I was told I will need new brake pads, but not just yet. The mechanic said I could squeeze another 5,000 miles out of them, and to wait until the next oil change. A regular mechanic would have up-sold me on the work and not mention the remaining brake pad life. The owner/manager, Carlos will continue to get my business regardless of what car I own. I had an '02 Honda Accord whose transmission had given up the ghost. I brought it in to FAS, and Carlos was very helpful in getting it fixed with a quick turnaround. His father even gave me a ride in his own car to my parents' house so that I could borrow their car for the next few days. Needed the transmission fluid changed on my Audi A4 and a few places told me they didn't have the tools to do it. I called FAS and they assured me they could do it.
