FACILITY: Small, limited seating indoors with very nice, fun, outdoor seating areas. Love this place. MENU: Simple, easy to understand, great photos online if you have any questions. FOOD PREP: Very well done, like professional in just how it looks. FOOD QUALITY: Professional in how it also tastes... Watermelon Gazpacho was perfect with drinks prior to main. LIBATIONS: drinks and bartender were excellent, fun, and the photo print was very cool. WAITSTAFF: just so nice, and fun making the experience all that much better. We have been enjoying The Plaza Theater so spending a little more time in Palm Springs and this will be one of our favorites places to relax prior to an event. OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

YES to everything!…read more The food was excellent. We started with the crab cakes, and although they lacked a bit of structural integrity, they were absolutely divine! The aioli they came with was a perfect pairing. The chili was great! Lots of meat in it & I ate it my favorite way, which was loaded onto some buttered up cornbread! My entree was the chicken pot pie, and wow, wow, wow! What a treat. The crust was perfect, and the pot pie is packed with chicken, veggies, and that delicious signature pot pie creaminess! We were lucky enough to meet the new owners who have committed to maintaining the traditions of the original community stronghold that has been "Billy Reed's". There were lots of conversations around us about the new owners and how these people have been coming here for decades; and I completely understand why. This is comfort food excellence! The service? Incredible. We were served by Jackie. She was an absolute delight. From recommendations to just being downright pleasant and providing excellent service, she was perfect 10/10! The restaurant feels historic! I love the ambiance & everything it offers as an experience as a whole. Can't wait to visit again JUST to have Billy Reed's!

I loved that there are different dining rooms, each with its own art and design. Every space feels unique, and walking through the restaurant is an experience on its own. For brunch, I ordered the chilaquiles, and the Negra Modelo ranchera salsa was delicious and very unique. The flavors really stood out, and I loved the addition of the Spanish chorizo Bilbao. My wife ordered the poblano chile relleno, and everything on the plate was delicious. The refried pinto beans were especially good, and the corn pudding was amazing--like a little piece of corn tamal! Then came the carrot cake sandwich... and honestly, it looked like they saved the best for last. This might be the best carrot cake we have ever tried! The layers of cream cheese semifreddo, carrot ribbon cream, candied pecans, orange crisps, and salted caramel were absolutely incredible. I would honestly come back to Eight4Nine just for the carrot cake. Everything we had was delicious, but the dessert stole the show without a doubt. A big thank you to Sandy, our waitress, for the great recommendations and wonderful service. We loved celebrating our anniversary here and definitely want to come back!

My only criticisms are that they need more waitresses/waiters to accommodate clientele, especially as happy hour comes to a close. I was charged regular price for the Sour Cherry Balsamic Braised Pork Shoulder and Local Date & Arugula Salad. Had the waitress had more availability, I would've received happy hour prices instead. Obviously, this is a management issue. I got the Bay Scallop Ceviche, which was good, but not sure I'd re-order. The Braised Pork Shoulder was definitely worth it and such a fun excursion. The pork was reminiscent of Carnitas, loved the red potatoes, spinach was awesome, and what genius threw cherries in this dish?! I'll definitely return because the hostesses were cool and the floor staff checked in several times.

We arrived just after 1pm which it was pretty quiet. It's a big space so if there's not a good amount of people, it does look sparse. But about 20 minutes or so after we arrived, people did start to arrive and it did get pretty lively. Checked in with the hostess which we were given option on where we wanted to be seated. Hi top, low top, booth or the bar. Option is alway a good thing. We went with the booth seating as it was quite roomy and had a nice back cushion. Of course our waiter David was the sweetest. He remembered us from way back but something else was there that I couldn't put my finger on. Asked him if he worked somewhere else which he did and the funny thing was, he took care of us there about a month and half ago. Guess the desert restaurant experience, you'll run into the same people. Very sweet there and the exact same here. Made the dining situation great. Brunch menu does offer a good amount of items. A mixture of breakfast items, egg dishes, sandwiches and salads as well as miscellaneous items. Plus they have the mimosas deal. You can either go straight with champagne with 2 refills for 12.00 or mimosas with 2 refill for 14.00. Not bad and alway a must for brunch. Food wise, I'm not a burger person but something about the "Gregor" looked interesting. 1/2 pound of fresh ground angus beef, Kobe short rib, beer cheese sauce, romaine lettuce, tomato onion jam, dill pickles in a brioche bun. Also had it with an over easy egg. It's massive and a little messy picking everything up. Not a burger lover but this item was quite tasty. The meats were juicy and there was enough of it. It was worth having a burger. That was served with fries which was more like shaved potatoes. Also the Rolys Cubano sandwich. Pressed under iron skillet roasted pork, Virginia ham, Gruyère cheese, dill pickles and sour cherry Dijon. It wasn't the same as I've had at Cubans restaurants in Miami and others but it was tasty. A little different from what I'm used to but it was good. Also comes with a side which we went with onion rings for an additional fee. They were quite tasty and big. Cooked well and nice and crunchy. Refills of mimosas were always on time whenever the glass was empty. Service was excellent. Everyone working was major dolls. David was excellent and made sure that we were taken cared of with anything we needed. Water was always refilled when it was emptied. The place did picked up during our meal and after we left. They do have patio seating but no one wants to be out when it's triple digit. We enjoyed and had a great time for brunch. Until next time.

To start with the staff was super friendly. The menu was a blast to read. I mean, what else could you have wanted? Everything tasted amazing. My favorite was the Yuzu filtered cocktail called poolside vibes. Special props to our server "Angel" who was a literal angel with helping me to navigate the menu choices and keep everything filled! He even replaced the candle for our table. The menu appears to change seasonally, which is a bonus for those of us who are locals to the Palm Springs area. We are already planning our next visit and can't wait to go back and try more. All we can think about are the ahi wonton tacos appetizer. The vibe is casual classy and you can even bring your four legged best friend if that is your cup of tea! I hear there is a menu for Dogs, which sounds amazing. They brought out Cancha and water, along with a green spicy salsa and chimichurri to top your food with, which was a nice touch and super flavorful. I ordered my first-ever Peruvian Cusqueña beer and was pleasantly surprised. It was light, flavorful, no bitterness at all, and a nice full body to it. The ambiance was lovely too. We didn't get a chance to visit the bar, but it looked beautiful from where we sat, and the music playing was the perfect fit for the vibe. For starters we got the Causa Acevichada, and wow -- this was only my second time trying this dish, but it completely blew the other place out of the water. So much flavor. I'm a creature of habit, so I went with my favorite Peruvian dish, the Lomo Saltado, and honestly this might be the best version I've had. Every bite was packed with flavor (that chimichurri drizzled on top didn't hurt either). My fiancé decided to branch out and try the Arroz Chaufa de Carne, and we were both extremely happy with our meals. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town visiting family. Highly recommend if you're craving authentic Peruvian food!
