Came in as a 1st timer, I'm in the group on Facebook Stockton History and seen they posted this business was going out of business and decided to go in for breakfast before it went out of business worst decision ever. Upon walking in we were greeted and welcomed! The table we sat in was horrible the booth chair metal spring was stabbing me in my under bottom and thighs. I asked if we could move to another table because the chair was painful, and the waitress explained to us that a party would be coming to celebrate. So we continued to sit at the table and just went on looking into the menu. The menu is very dirty with old food remnants, menu was hard to read and overpriced. Everything about this place speaks dilapidated so much in ruins that they have to Jack there prices up starting basically $15 and up for starters. Just a FYI, I have no problem paying for a good meal at any cost but not when your in an old dank restaurant that quite needs to be shut down immediately ASAP. The food that we ordered was the 3 egg combo, 2 sausage and 2 bacon with homestyle potatoes and sourdough bread with one coffee and tea. My husband and I already had bad vibes so we ordered one meal and split it to be on the safe side and I'm sure happy we did. The potatoes were brown around the edges, slimy, hard and greasy. The only thing worth eating was the sourdough bread and I was still uneasy to even eat the bread, the eggs were over easy but so raw the white yolk was barely skillet fried, it was like eating the birth of a chicken. Also the waitress apron was so nasty and disgusting it look like she had been washing dishes, cleaning floors and serving food all in one apron. The tea I ordered was luke warm not hot, so warm the tea bag never infused into tea and brewed. The tea kettle had like old dried up ketchup on the handle very disgusting. My husband pointed that out moments after I had been drinking this luke warm water tea for my sore throat. Not to mention the worse of it all was I had to ask for 3 different sets of silverware and Mam you know who I am with this being said. First set had hair on it with old food stuck on it, Second set was an old hard piece of food stuck on it, she then replies 3rd time is a charm and if this one isn't clean I'm going to be embarrassed, my husband said shouldn't you be embarrassed from the first time she giggled a nervous laugh and walked away. The coffee that was being served was served right next to a red sanitation bucket stained with black grease and grime with dirty water and rags that can and will spill over into the coffee pots. Come on you can go to the dollar store a buy a bucket for $1 also the grey bus boxes they place the dirty dishes in we're literally green with algae. Please do yourself a favor and don't come here unless you like burnt food, uncleanliness, hard furniture and nasty exposure. This place does need to be shutdown or go under new ownership but first the health department needs to come and strike this business with food and health violation codes. Will never return back and don't recommend at all. read more

The service is friendly the restaurant has kept its quaint atmosphere. He has daily specials on both sides of the menu. I have a hard time choosing. Ok, so the Ranch is a place that everyone in Stockton should try at least once. I've grown more fond of this place as I get older and it has a lot of history and a great group of staff and customers that give this place a unique vibe unlike any other place in Stockton. If you want to "feel" what blue collar Stockton looks and smells like just swing by this place and take in the aroma of coffee and other amazing items on the breakfast menu. If you didn't know this little restaurant was here, you would totally miss it. We arrived and were quickly seated. Not only were the waitresses nice, even the patrons were friendly. I went with the chorizo and eggs and the country potatoes. Their potatoes were thinly sliced which I love. The food came out super fast. The chorizo and eggs were good the potatoes could be good but had a lot of oil. So much oil that I was afraid this oil would make me run to the bathroom so I didn't eat many of them. No bueno. Saw the strong reviews so decided to give it a try. The location is out of the way (have to drive to south Stockton), but easy access from 99. I would imagine that they have a very loyal clientele during the week from the industries around this part of town. Quaint, friendly, & the breakfast was good, especially for the price. This is a frankly owned and run "mom & pop" diner. The menu is old school, like a typical old fashion diner. You won't find trendy menu items with mangos or gouda cheese. But you will find good ole steak and eggs, country fried steak & eggs, pancakes, etc.... I could not find the hours of operation posted so I'm posting a picture of the hours on the front door. This is by far THE BEST breakfast place in Stockton! Hands down! This was our very first time going in to eat. Now, we are craft vendors and when this restaurant put on vendor events, we would set up here. We have had many of their lunch items, but always as vendors. So, let's sum up our orders! I had the biscuits and gravy with bacon and potatoes! The biscuits were homemade and huge! So delicious. You get a huge bowl of gravy, of which I only used about half. The potatoes are sliced and grilled to a perfect crisp. And the bacon was superb! Perfectly crispy! Another at our table got the Bacon and Cheese omelet, added ham and salsa to top top. Along with potatoes and toast and a side of bacon. The omelet was large, and had just the right about of meat distributed through every bite. The salsa is locally made and even sold at the restaurant. The final dish at our table was the Diced Chorizo and eggs with potatoes and sourdough toast. A nice serving and perfect tasting chorizo. A 55 year old restaurant! Believe it or not! Basically a Diner that has is most frequented by Blue-Collar working types. The original owner, Dorothy Clare, started up this restaurant in 1955 and has been at this location every year except for two. On the menu... Thursday Daily Special - Corned Beef & Cabbage (*** $7.70) With all this rain we're receiving this year, I was thinking to myself that I would not be able to get a Corned Beef & Cabbage lunch on St Patrick;s Day... so why not celebrate it now? On an 8" plate... you'll receive three slices of Corned Beef about 3 1/2" round on a bed of Boiled Cabbage with a side of cut Boiled Potatoes and a side of sliced Carrots and a Hot Muffin. You'll also receive some Horse Radish and / or Mustard. Cup of Coffee (**** $1.70) Strong... not because the Coffee was over-heated. Re-filled multiple times. After the meal, I inquired about the Dessert.. only Bread Pudding and / or Apple Turnover was made in-house. Pies aren't... Decided to skip Dessert... The two interesting things to notice when you dine here are... 1) The wooden relief that takes up the whole North-West wall of the restaurant. The art-work was donated to the restaurant by a customer... Irwin Cormier in 1958. The work is divided into foot-wide panels, I guess to make transport easier, and depicts ranch activities and brands that were local to the area at that time. I asked Roberta whether all the brands are authentic... she replied quite a few of the brands were "made-up". I noticed that there were many duplicate insulators hung up... there's only so many ways to make a glass insulator, I guess. Recommended to her that she rotate her collection once in a while... In summary, prepared meals such as Omelets or Breakfast combos or the Daily Special for Lunch are up to a dollar less than comparable Diners. But the entrees are pretty limited. But there are extensive Sandwich and Burger options. For whatever reason, Pancakes and French Toast are pretty pricey. Because of my Bike-Riding, the size of the Daily Special was, to me, below average... 3-Stars from a Big Eater like me. 4-Stars from everyone else in the restaurant. And...
