This review is only for spa services, I haven't tried any of their workout courses. I came here with my sisters because we had purchased a travelzoo voucher for a massage and facial. And for a gym spa this was surprisingly good. I'm no expert at massages but in terms of facials I had gotten a few and this one was one of the best ones I got. Swedish massage: 5/5: I forget the name of my masseuse but she was really good. She did the right amount of pressure and she made this massage extremely relaxing. Nothing that she did hurt and she made sure everything felt ok with me. I came out smiling and completely relaxed. And that's rare because most massages I tend to feel more pain or that it wasn't good enough. Would come back for another massage. Facial: 5/5: so relaxing and great. Usually when I have gotten a facial the extractions are usually painful but when I got mine done here it was actually painless. And for me that's rare since I have a very low pain tolerance level. I do t know what she put on my face but it was relaxing that I actually fell asleep through most of my facial. Embarrassing but relaxing facials can do that to a person! We did try the jacuzzi and steam rooms. The only thing that I don't like is that people go into the jacuzzi naked. Maybe it's just me but I prefer people to cover up a little bit of wear a swimsuit. But other than that I like this gym and would come back in the future! read more

There are many overpriced Bay Area gyms and it was difficult for me to find a good place near Lafayette that had the amenities I wanted: -lap pool -free weight room -treadmills -included spin classes -child care -sauna & steam room Forma does it all and for a ridiculous price given the quality and care they put in. You can tell it's a well ran place by how genuinely happy the employees are and how clean the gym is. Absolutely love Forma - use the upstairs weights, spin classes, water aerobics classes and have had facials/neuromuscular therapy via the spa. The facility is large, clean, friendly and great locker rooms with jacuzzi/sauna/steam. Special shout-out to Yuki Yoshi, Director of Pilates and Spa - have been taking his Pilates reformer classes for a year to help with a knee injury and seeing direct results, and really like the mind-body aspect of his teaching. The classes are a bit pricey as they are on top of monthly membership, but as beneficial for me as seeing a personal trainer several times a week, and much less expensive. Clean gym thats what gets forma a 3 star rating in my opinion . the down side is for the price if your not taking classes its not really worth coming here. Very little equipment lately its bin getting packed a lot of people camping at machines. there is very little parking another down side. and the machines are not well maintained and taken care of. as someone who works on machinery this is something that greatly bothers me and today i saw how right i was about this. 2 machines where down upstairs when there aren't many to begin with. Forma is a very old and outdated gym as are most buildings in Walnut Creek that have not been recently built. I did not sign because it also appeared to be not cared for in terms of hygiene. I was concerned by the curt attitude of the front desk manager who was quite pushy. I found out every member pays a different rate depending on management's mood when you sign. Never trust what they say. Those sales people are just not genuine. I was told that there will be no change to how the gym operates under Covid for a while and 100% money back guaranteed if I am not satisfied within 10 days, and totally changed in 14 days. I talked to Kate 2 weeks ago who is in higher position than the actual sales rep I signed up the membership with. She said she understands my situation and will consider the full refund and will get back to me after talking to her boss, and never did. I emailed her a few times after that to follow up because I need to at least pause the membership, but no reply at all. Today, the gym charged another $125 for the second month. Nice facilities. The ladies locker room has its own sauna, steam room and hot tub. The amenities here are nice. It's the people that brings it down. The service desk staff were not that friendly. Started coming here during the last shut down for indoor gyms. Stuck around to be able to experience the in door and outdoor gym. They provide a large out door gym space with lots of equipment. 3 flat benches, one decline, one incline, and a couple squat racks, pool, lots of cardio machines, lots of lockers. Not very impressed with their "luxury" equipment or price. Expensive for what it is. Since they have opened the indoor portion, there is a lot of more space for people to social distance. They do provide things to clean equipment, but i only see 40-50% of the people actually doing so. Once in awhile I see staff come and do rounds and clean. Saw a couple of staff members clean up weights and make the place look presentable; i think his name was Daniel. Front seat was extremely friendly. I typically go at 5-6am or 3-4pm. Weights were old, and a lot of wear and tear on their equipment that should have been replaced along time ago. Upon opening the membership they would text me frequently to check in but that fizzled out pretty quickly. I think it was more of a way for you to like them so you would open the gym membership. Upon asking and requesting to close my membership it was a nightmare. Had to put in an online request, but didn't hear from them for over a week. Put in a second request and didn't hear from them again. I then called and spoke to someone over the phone and then they helped me. Overall, come here if you must. Don't expect too much. Other members aren't very considerate or have good gym etiquette. Wouldn't open an account again unless i needed an outdoor gym. read more

Forma is a really spacious, modern and high-end gym with outdoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna room, pilates studio,cycling studio and more. I was here on a guest pass and the customer service greeted me right away with warmth and smile. I was glad it stopped there without having them following me around and pushing packages. The locker room is elegant and clean with plenty clean and soft white shower towels. There are gender-specific Jacuzzi and steam room so it is great for privacy. The free weight equipment is on the ground floor and it is definitely more male-centric while 3rd floor has more women using weight machines. I took a peak at the Pilates and Cycling studios and both have nice equipment and Pilates beds. Overall, I love this gym except it is farther from my house than I would like. However, I would definitely recommend for people who don't mind driving or live close by and want a high end gym at a reasonable rate. ($89 for single/month). read more

If you are looking for great Pilates reformer classes I enthusiastically recommend Forma Gym. This gym has outstanding Pilates teachers and a very well organized schedule of classes starting at 7:30 am. Their teachers are deeply trained. Their classes balance strength and flexibility for an excellent workout that leaves me energized and ready for my day. What I particularly value is the attention given to each individual. The small classes allow Forma Gym teachers to personalize training without losing class momentum. They primarily use reformers but also incorporate other equipment to keep classes challenging. The teaching staff must find the gym a good place to work too as there is little turn-over. My favorite teachers are Yuki, Meg, and Karen. They have different styles which adding another dimension to the variety of ways  I can challenge myself.  After 10 years, I still look forward to each class as I continually deepen my core strength and improve my balance, which supports my skiing and hiking without injury.   Additional bonuses: the locker room has a steam room, hot tub, sauna, and plenty of showers stocked with personal hygiene products. Towels are plentiful, staff is considerate, and they keep everything clean. Free parking on the premises making it easy to stay for hours or drop in for a quick class. I was in late Thursday (9/27) night and was DISGUSTED with the music they were playing over the gyms speakers. Super angry gansta rap with song after song shouting FUCK YOU MOTHER, FUCK YOU EVERYONE, BITCH, on and on and on... Not a good place to enjoy my regular workouts but am stuck with a membership. The gym is amazing, and the personal training is top-notch. In just over 3 months of working with Steve at Forma Gym I lost over 25 pounds, got much stronger, and developed more disciplined eating habits. Steve is the type of trainer that encourages his clients to reach their goals through consistent positive motivation. He is always excited to start a workout, and keeps things varied enough such that they never get stale. Literally a week ago this gym sold me an expired protein bar. I found out because after my stomach was hurting and I read the label. So I informed them of this and I got an insincere apology and that was all, I even asked for a refund that(which I didn't get). The disingenuous attitude I received is why I'm not about to come back. I have joined an Aerial class lately, the coaching was wonderful! However, their facilities at Forma Gym need lots of improvements. Their restroom is a bit messy. Their studio's floor is a bit sticky that we need to lay down on it. And the worse is the Aerial fiber rope is quite stinky, seems never been washed! Really worth the price! If you've asked yourself what you really get for those 20-50$ per month at Gold's gym or LA fitness, or while trudging away at fitness 19 or 24 hour fitness while envying those paying the big bucks for Equinox, this place is the solution. You pay just as much and this place is complete with separate cardio equipment areas, a fully stocked weight room, an outdoor gym, a lovely pool and a spa. Cardio: The equipment is in great shape and although it's always busy there are always plenty of machines available. There are also a lot of options of cardio equipment and the room upstairs comes complete with weight machines for the likes of people like me who are not the macho men working out downstairs (ie you won't be intimidated while you're just trying to figure out the machines!) Weight room: Like previously alluded to I don't really do a lot of weights so I can't weigh in on this one too much, but the space is large and has quite a variety of equipment which also looks in great shape. Plus the room comes complete with one of those fancy NASA vibrating stretch/anaerobic training machines. Pool: The pool is large and sunny and has 3 separate divided areas, with plenty of room for 6 swimmers at a time. Plus a great cabana/outdoor area. I just joined this gym two weeks ago. I love this gym! It is super clean and super covid-cautious. Everyone is really careful and carrying around sanitizer sprays and towels to clean every workout equipment they use. The air quality is very good, it doesn't have a gym smell, it's very fresh and airy! There are so many places to workout, whether it be indoors or outdoors! I absolutely love this gym. I was gym shopping prior to joining and by far this is the best gym in town. I reviewed like 10 local gyms and nothing compares. I love this place. I'm here in the early weekday mornings and it's quite nice. So, I can't really speak to the classes offered or what it's like in the evenings. In the am it's mostly older folks or business professionals getting their daily workout in. People are friendly if not just minding their own business. Get in, do what you need to do, and get out. I've never had to wait for any machine or shower. I come for the amenities and the convenience of the location to my work. There's always towels and bath needs available. The showers, sauna, jacuzzi areas are a little more used looking than the pix on here show, but still clean and maintained. read more

When I hear the word gym, I think of big hulking guys lifting free weights and flexing afterward. When I think of the word club, I think of nice amenities, cardio equipment, group exercise, yoga, pilates, selectorized weight equipment, and on the higher end for clubs, I think saunas, jacuzzis, and steam rooms. On the higher end, maybe massage and spas, combination lockers, towel service, and nice amenities. Forma Gym combines the best elements of a club and a gym. Downstairs is a strength training area with free weights, benches, and a few selectorized weight machines, as well as some functional training equipment. There's an outdoor area with functional training equipment like tires, ropes, a cage, and step benches, as well as a small pool and sun area. Upstairs is an immersive virtual reality stationary bike studio, a mind-body yoga studio, another group exercise studio, cardio machines, and selectorized equipment. There's also a spa and a brow bar (i.e. a place for women to get their brows threaded!?!). The lobby has a big screen TV and a snack bar. One of the coolest features is a bicycle lending area. The club has about six bicycles that members can borrow. They're not the best bikes, but they're in good working order and are relatively new. It all adds to the idea of the club as a an overall center for fitness. Finally, the locker room is outstanding. It has full length lockers that you set your own four-digit combination for. The benches, about two feet by four, are adequate-sized and padded. The amenities include hair dryers, lotion, and mouthwash in the main locker room, as well as body wash, shampoo in the showers. The showers are clean and in excellent shape, as are the sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room. I really liked the large tiles, which are easy to maintain. I don't live near Walnut Creek, but if I did, it would definitely be my main club. It's beautiful, has lots of options, and is fun. read more

I've been a member here for about 6 months now. I've been pretty happy with Forma. It's clean and not too crowded, especially in off peak times. The equipment is almost all new, they have really nice cardio machines and they're always clean and in service. They have people cleaning and keeping up with the towel service pretty regularly. The locker rooms are nice and modern. Never had trouble finding an empty locker. The staff here is really friendly and helpful. I have yet to try any classes here but there are plenty of them. It looks like parking can be a challenge sometimes for folks because parking is limited. But they do offer valet parking to offset this. Doesn't really affect me as I usually walk here. It is a bit pricy for a gym membership unless you sign a 2 year contract. Even then, it's still a little pricy. But I guess you get what you pay for. read more

She didn't seem at all interested and stated that they check every hour. Not good enough! Forma Gym had a great centered philosophy around "mind-body" and they really treat their members well. You can tell right when you walk in that they care! Great enrollment experience/ tour and I've been a member here for almost a year and I am so glad I signed up. Great friendly staff: Nicky, Sandra, Cheyenne and so many more at front desk and valet Great childcare- K.C., Olivia, and all the others in kidsville , they always have space for my daughter and are accommodating and take amazing care of the kids. It's clean, they have activities, they are engaged. (Would love it they would add a reservation feature in the forma app) - I should add that all the other moms I chat with in classes also feel the same way. Some of us wouldn't be able to workout in such confidence without this amenity. Love the set up of the gym and the floor plan. It all makes sense and they paid attention to so many details. Pool in the back and place to sit on a private deck. Cardio room and classes separate from the main weight room... women and men's locker rooms on opposite sides & childcare and membership right up front... Great classes- spinning/cycle, yoga, bootcamp, Barre classes: Heather and Leslie are my favorite! But there are so many others that are great too. Spa: Laura Berry, best massage I have ever had! She also teaches a great Barre class. I always feel comfortable coming in and always leave feeling like I am happier & healthier. I did a trial pass here and there are not many down sides to this gym. Classes are 5 Star! I took a cycling class and the instructor was amazing! He's engaged, energizing and pushes you. The TRX classes are to die for!! I want tonjo n his gym just for this class!! Midori is very attentive and helps you with every position. I'm still feeling the hurt (hurts so good) 5 days later! Saline pool! Friendly Downsides. LOCATION! In a little pocket right off 680/Olympic. Next to freeway. While inside the club you can't hear the noise. But at the pool it's obvious. Valet parking during the busy daytime hours. But parking is impossible. Classes fill up quickly. I am a loyal Forma member. Friendships built here, great sense of community, excellent equipment, never overly crowded and clean. BUT!! The cell phone usage in the women's spa area in the locker room is out of control. Lots of signage stating cell phones are not allowed. The rule lacks enforcement and I'm tired of policing this myself. Why should members have to be harassed because someone doesn't like being politely asked to put their phone away when there are women naked all around? A young woman called me names when I asked her to please put her phone away and then she insulted an older woman who agreed with my request. Not even ten minutes later I heard another woman ask someone else to put their phone away. I'm so sick and tired of entitled women who feel this rule doesn't apply to them, not to mention feeling wicked uncomfortable and vulnerable when there is a cell phone around and I'm walking around unclothed, as are others. This review is specifically for the Forma spa, although I was a member at the gym for several years as well and enjoyed it. I've had massages with several different massage therapists at the Spa, and have had positive experiences with them. They have been effective, considerate, and professional. The spa area is clean and relaxing. The spa management was also accommodating with a scheduling snafu that happened. I plan to continue visiting in the spa in the future, even though I'm no longer a gym member, and would recommend it. read more

I live in Danville and drive to Walnut Creek for the sole reason that this gym has by far, the most friendly, personable and knowledgeable staff, hands down. The members are all very welcoming to a newbie and that alone is is extremely important. The classes are wide range and they are offered throughout different times to accommodate all schedules. I started going about 1 year ago now, and can say w confidence that this gym is by far, the best gym in the area. And the 100th review goes to Forma Gym!! This place is top notch! It feels more like a private fitness club than a 24 hour gym, which I really appreciate. There's two floors of workout equipment and seven designated areas to work out. I'm impressed by how well they maintain the gym and equipment. I rarely see an "out of order" sign on the cardio machines or a neglected workout towel. They have their own housekeeping crew, which is one of the many reasons it sets them apart from other gyms. Every time I've come into the gym, there's always a friendly face. The staff members look like they enjoy their jobs and enjoy being there, which is great! Another plus... PARKING. They have a big lot right in the front. Keep in mind that some of the stalls are reserved for the nearby businesses. If there's no parking in the front, they have parking all along the side of the building. If you're exercising after 5PM, you can park anywhere! For anyone who has a tough time motivating themselves to push the limits.. take a class! The energy that comes from the instructor and your peers will push you to want to do your best and build that body of yours! I'd definitely recommend taking a "Rhythm and Ride" or "Cycling" class w/ Lauren or Christine. They have great energy and motivate the heck out of you to power through. Without fail, after 60 minutes, I walk out with jelly legs, but it's so worth it! To Lauren: You may be pregnant, but you kick butt! Your drills are fast-paced and fun which makes time fly! I'm even more impressed how you maintain that cadence! To Christine: Way to look out for the first-time class takers! I remember in our last session there was an older woman who was new to the class who reminded me of my Gma back home. She had some trouble adjusting the bike to her height.. Rather than drawing attention to her or making her feel like a newbie, you educated the class as a whole on how to adjust the bike and the types of drills we'd be doing. I appreciated that. Here's the food and bad from my perspective Good: facilities are kept clean and in good repair They have good trainers on staff They offer a variety of classes included in the membership. Locker rooms are clean, have plenty of towels, and provide sundries like deodorant, lotion, etc Decent selection of equipment Price seems to be a good balance. Bad: Parking is difficult. A couple of times I've had to give up and leave. While the claim to have valet that is not always true and it costs ( you should tip the valet) They tried once to push a political event for some 'tool' running for office. Updating my review. I've now been a member at FORMA 3 years and go 4-5 times per week, usually around 9am. I regularly use use their valet, childcare service, cardio equipment, cardio classes, spin classes, weight machines, yoga classes, pool, locker room and showers/saunas. I will review each below. VALET- FORMA shares a park lot with other force buildings. The parking spaces are limited on weekday mornings. FORMA has free valet service for when there are no park spaces available. WhenI first joined FORMA they outsourced the valet. They have since brought this service in house, and the valet crew is AMAZING! Frank, Michael, and Arturo are the first people you see upon arriving and they always have a smile on their faces, very professional, and get you into that gym without worry about your car. They also don't care if your car is dirty like mine always is, ha! These guys are "the face of FORMA" as far as I'm concerned. the place wouldn't be the same without this crew! CHILDCARE- This service is located in Kidzville, just to the right of the check in desk. It is 2 hours per day for $25 child per month, with discounts for siblings. If you use this daily, it's something like 50 cents per child per hour. When I first joined, I had a 4 mo old. They take babies as young as 3 months. Staff was great when I started, then had a year of mediocre staff, and now it is THE BEST it's ever been in my opinion. The new staff makes my kids feel welcomed and wanted (previously they would t even be greeted and even blatantly ignored and I'd observe kids being ignored or being told mean things with previous staff, it was sad and I felt guilty leaving my children in there). Anyhow whatever changes they made to the staff have been incredible and WE ARE SO HAPPY!!! Thank you FORMA and Kidzville staff!!! I do wish Kidzville would be updated a bit- while the rest of the gym has had huge improvements and additions, poor Kidzville is still a bit... dated compared to the rest of the gym. EQUIPMENT- they updated almost all their cardio equipment and weight machines about a year or so ago. It was unexpected, as their previous equipment seemed to work fine, but the new equipment is definitely nicer and makes for a nice experience. They seem to be proactive about making sure machines are in optimal places around the gym, and replacing bands and weights that are showing wear. There is no shortage of bikes,treadmills, ellipticalls, weights, bands... they seem to have the latest and greatest machines to try. CLASSES- These are separated into studios, there is mind and body which has all the yoga and mindful movement classes and equipment. Then group cardio which had everything from HIIT, body power (low intensity), Zumba, dance etc., spin room which has a huge screen up front and fun classes, Pilates room downstairs which is an extra charge, and a jujitsu/self defense room (extra charge). Overall, you can find a class for anything you want. POOL- what I might love best about FORMA is the group of aqua fit ladies and gentlemen who participate in the aqua fit classes. These ladies are dedicated and so welcoming. It was the first class I tried,just having a baby, and getting back into fitness this group and class was SO WELCOMING AND INCLUSIVE! Oh my gosh, I am so grateful for those classes and the love I felt from this group. I still love overhearing their stories friendships in the locker room. The pool is also open to families 1-4 on Sunday which is fun for the kids! LOCKER ROOM/SAUNAS- this is my sanctuary. While I suspect the men's locker room may be nicer than the women's (looking at Picts online), I still enjoy the facilities. The big lockers are free while at the gym, and the small lockers can be rented for $10 a month, which for me, is worth not having to lug my makeup, hair stuff and shower stuff around everyday. I fully enjoy having time each day after my workout to sit in the sauna or hot tub, then shower and get ready for the day without my kids asking for a million things. Having the locker room to get ready or relax in after working out is the icing on the cake and I leave feeling so completely refreshed and prepared for the rest of the day. I pickup my kids feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the rest fo the day. Overall, joining this gym has been one of the best decisions for me. I've been a member here for just over a year and this review is long overdue. I'm giving Forma Gym 5 stars for many reasons but mainly because the community there is warm and welcoming. The front desk staff are kind and the trainers and instructors are top-notch professionals. The membership sales team, as well as all of the staff I've encountered, are always helpful and are genuinely concerned about your experience at the gym. How often are you told "I want to make sure that you're happy"? Outside of Forma, I can't recall encountering that level of concern and commitment to raise the bar and exceed one's expectations as frequently as I do at Forma. Specific to my experience, I can confidently say that "NextBarre" is the best barre method class in the area (and I've taken barre at many different studios!) and their Pilates and MOTR program is excellent. NextBarre and Pilates reformer classes are a huge reason I joined Forma but I can also attest to the high caliber of the other group exercise classes such as Pure Strength and TRX. I can't forget to mention the spa services -- the spa area is beautifully tranquil and the massages I've had there have been some of the best. I love having all of this under one roof; the convenience of all of these quality services, provided by staff with smiles on their faces, all in one place is perfect for me. I'm a fan. read more
