Do not bring your fitted hats in this cleaner. I called and asked specifically if they could wash my fitted cabs, and when I brought them, I showed him again as I do not want them crease they assured me they knew how to wash them and could do it properly. I came to pick them up today and all of my hats are creased and are not clean properly at all. I brought 10 fitted hats which are like $500 total. They only charge me 40 but it was really really a bad service. I regret coming here. read more

I came to get my work dress and pants altered on a Thursday and the pick up date was Tuesday at 5pm so that is when i came to pick up my clothes. I arrived at set date and time and they we're barely working on my pants and they told me 10 more min. I waited about 30 min and when they were done i asked for my dress. It turns out they couldn't find it and when they did they didn't even start on the dress, by that time i had already spent an hour there. Never coming back, why set a time and date if the clothes wont be ready especially if its for 6 whole day. So far so good! I've only done tailoring at Macy's and Burlington's before, and the result was okay - adequate at best. Upon several recommendations from my friends, I decided to check Formosa out for a suit I was going to wear to a wedding. Granted my alterations were minor (shorten jacket sleeves - $25, hem pants - $7), the results were just as I had asked, with a couple days turnaround time. I decided to take in a nice pair of jeans that got a hole in the rear area but couldn't bring myself to throw away. They patched it up for $5 and I am satisfied with the result. There are two dressing rooms for you to try on your final products and you pay after alterations are done. Our whole wedding party and my dad also got their suits done here! The pricing was right, turnaround time was right, and the staff is super friendly reserved couple. The only negative is the parking lot is pretty small and kind of tight and it could get crowded at times. read more

I've lived around here my whole life and I can't believe I have never been to Formosa until now. For being an Asian-owned store I think that it's the best well-runned place I've seen. I didn't have anything to complain about and I think they are so organized! For first timers, bring whatever you need to be dry cleaned (I didn't get anything hemmed) and bring it to the counter. The worker will ask for your phone number b/c that's how they keep track of everyone. Since it was my first time, he asked for my address as well... just in case I guess haha. Anyways, he then asked me when I needed it by and gave me a ticket. The ticket has the pick-up date and the price as well. Yikes - I didn't realize they have so many negative reviews. I have nothing but good experiences (knocking on wood furiously) If you're looking for budget alteration and dry cleaning prices, go here. If you want the get-what-you-pay-for treatment on your luxe designer threads, don't go budget and complain then! I was happy with the leg tapering and hem they did on my slacks (very minimal break) and AG jeans. Also got my jeans zipper replaced (zipper won't be as nice as designer ofc) And they've always been fine handling my dry cleaning. If you're the shy type, you may not enjoy their changing room shack for alterations! Chinese speakers may get a better alterations experience. But my ABCness stll got good results. read more

Dropped off my moms dress for a dry clean and went to go pick it up the first time and it was dirty so they said they'll clean it again and just went to pick it up today again and it's DIRTIER then when we brought it in. Idk how that works..... don't know what they did with the dress. Will NOT recommend this place. The short hair lady was very rude kept saying they don't guarantee anything which I understand if you can't guarantee the area that we dirtied but now there's stain higher up on the dress where there wasn't stain before we brought it in. I've been coming here for quite some time, o typically bring my work clothes here to dry clean. The staffs are super duper helpful. I had about a few pieces of clothing that needed to be cleaned and one item that needed a quick fix. I was told to just wait a minute and my repair would be done on the spot. The seamstress took my pants and fixed them so fast. Pretty Impressive ehhh! Talk about quick service! Their alterations are pretty on point too, if you don't have a designated dry cleaning spot this is the place to go. You can't find another place that will they treat your clothing properly like it's their own! Parking is a bit difficult sometimes after working hours tho, hence that everyone will go to either drop off or pick up their clothes. After a semester of clinicals, I knew that my lab coat was due for some dry cleaning. Service is great. My dry cleaning for the lab coat only cost about $4.75. It can be a bit expensive, but I am a satisfied customer. Parking is easy as there is a small lot behind the building. There is also street parking available. I love going to this cleaner! In fact, this is the ONLY place I trust my clothes to go to because the owner really takes very good care of each garment that is brought in here. The owner also charges quite cheaply, while other places really rip you off and don't always do nearly as a good of a job as she does. This place charges the cheapest to clean and preserve wedding dresses (your welcome for doing all of the research for you). It only cost about $105 for everything ($45 for the box and preservation process, which is in an acid free box and will suck all the air out to prevent yellowing of the dress. $65 for actually cleaning the dress). To clean a 3 piece suit, it only cost me $12.60 and to clean other dresses (besides wedding dresses, as mentioned above) prices start at $9.60. Generally, a long dress would cost $12.xx so this place really is one of the cheapest and you will receive your clothing in the same condition you dropped it off (meaning no loose buttons or missing buttons, no rips and tears and such... unlike the place I took my husband's suit to be cleaned where the buttons went missing....). I also get my suit pants hemmed/ shortened and the owner really charges quite cheaply for that service as well (unfortunately I do not recall how much is that charge at the moment). Including in the price for shortening my pants, the owner will also press it as well, which is really nice to see those nice creases in the pants (that's professional baby!). Sometimes this place can get pretty crowded and lines will appear and wait time will be longer than anticipated. Try to avoid the mornings and the after business time if you can. There is a little lot on the side/ in the back of this little place, but I usually try to park on the street since it is hard to maneuver around in, especially since there is only one entrance/exit. Overall, this is THE best place to go to get your clothes altered, cleaned, pressed, etc. If you go somewhere else, I already know that you are paying too much. read more

I had a very precious HELLO KITTY letterman jacket that I needed to get dry cleaned. So I yelped for help. 50+ reviews and mostly 4-5 stars... oookay! Pretty easy place to find. Across from the cemetery. Very small parking. Asian lady was working that day. Asked her how much to clean my jacket. She did the inspection... flip-flip-feel-flip-rub-lift-feel. Told me $30 because the sleeves were real leather. She also warned me that i'm taking risks 'cause of the mixed material. I trusted her and you yelpers and decided to let Formosa do their thang. I'll be honest... as I was driving back home, i kept doubting her and thinking I shouldve went to more places before finalizing my pick. One week past and I come to pick up my jacket. Handed in my ticket to the nice asian man and he went to the back to get it ready. Wa-la! Very clean. No damage done anywhere on the jacket- happy yelper. Sweet little couple works there... they always make sure to count and mark down what items we bring I don't believe this place is pricey at all! And with all the items I bring from my hubs suits and tie...and my dresses and blouses I would definitely recommend here!! such a bad service! I had my 4 pants shortened here on Friday. it wasn't hurry. so I let them choose anyday when they are ready for me to pick up. and it was on Tuesday after 5pm. I came over on Tuesday at 4pm, thinking that they should be ready already. However she told me that she just cut them and they were not ready yet; that I needed to come back later because the receipt stated after 5pm. There was no any excuses nor appologies. Where to begin..i bought my first pair of designer jeans on a binge buy at Barneys New York...And i spent a nice chunk of change, but as i rushed into my purchase i decided it would be okay to settle on a pair of jeans a bit to long. The length i left the store with was 34 while my normal size is 30 =O.....way off. After i spent hours looking for a good tailor in my area then came across this web page and decided to give it a shot. About 15min away from house nestled in the SGV was Formosa Cleaners, with a huge facility and what has to be the worse designed parking lot i have ever seen. I dropped off my jeans and right from the beginning they had done everything right she had me put my jeans on and folded it to the correct length right from the get go. I was worried about taking my $200 dollar jeans for a hem at a place that only charged me $9. But when i picked it up i was speechless perfect to my size. The original hem was done so perfectly i couldn't figured out how they did it till i brought it home. Based on the recommendations from the previous three reviews, I decided to go to Formosa for original hemming. I was sick of paying $18 and up for original hemming just because designer jeans were not catered to shorter people like myself. In a nutshell, you get what you pay for at Formosa. $8 original hemming is exactly what it sounds like -- not professional or perfect but mostly acceptable. I received my jeans hemmed with original seam from Formosa and was very disappointed. I had black jeans hemmed and they used a very noticeable navy blue thread. Navy blue is not black -- it's very odd they did not simply use black thread to blend it in. I hope the person who sewed it on was not in a dark room or worst, color blind. The major problem I had was not the color of the threading, but why they decided to stitch on a nearly 1 inch line in the front and back of the pants. It's hideous and strange!! I don't know what they were thinking. They are VERY NOTICEABLE, even from afar. Those 1 inch lines turned a beautiful, designer jean into something that looks like it came from a big box store. I had to stitch them out just to make my jeans look "normal" again. I don't want to hate, but I simply cannot recommend or praise their original hems. I won't believe it was a fluke because I'm sure they follow a standard guideline. I am comparing my original hem job to the one I received from Nordstrom. Nordstrom's tailoring was impeccable and near flawless -- I couldn't even tell what they had done. It's more expensive but I have learned my lesson for trying to be frugal when it comes to designer jeans alterations. I did not give one star because it was partly my fault for not asking them to show me an example they've done. Although I like supporting small Asian businesses, this place doesn't seem to have good organization, sorry to say. =/ The benefits of going here is that they have really good prices for altering clothing that are normally much more expensive than other alterations places (i.e. my wedding & reception dress which cost $50 & $65). However, the few times I've been there, they seem to misplace things. The last time I was there, a guy was waiting to pick up his clothes that he got dry cleaned, but there was one shirt that was missing from the batch they were supposed to return to him. The lady said she couldn't find it, & would call him to let him know when they do find the shirt. Mmm... that sucks for him. =/ Also, I've brought my jackets & coats to them before, & they didn't make the cuffs that well. They even got a little pink stain on one of the cuffs, but they offered to dry clean it out, so I hope that's gone when I go pick it up next. read more
