I literally had to stop and pray for the Holy Spirit to intervene during my visit here so I would not say anything un-Christlike before storming out. It was the first sign of things to come when the customer before me left with an issue unresolved and saying "that's just bad business." Then it was my turn. As my credit card was being run, the person servicing my lenses announced a break and I was told it would be a two-hour wait, even though I had called ahead and was told the best time to arrive. I will leave out the mean details but I was insulted for letting them know I made a special effort to be there and this was unacceptable and demanded a refund (which was refused). So this is when I told them I needed a moment to stop and pray (first time I had to do that in a public space to keep my cool). Well prayer works. I felt calmer and led to call a sister office, where my order originated, and someone there intervened and was able to communicate via phone past the communication breakdown we were having on site at the other office: I was finally told the 2 hours was a range. It ended up taking less than 30 minutes for the work. This was an unnecessarily stressful situation that could have been prevented with more professionalism, better communication, and kindness. read more

This place is pretty bunk. Expensive ass frames and no warranty of you get the same ones just not name brand. My insurance barely made a difference so she offered me the "no insurance discount" and it was still over $300 for 1 pair of glasses. 10 and Van Dyke has one of "Americas Best" places for eye glasses. read more

When we showed up for my daughter's eye appointment, the staff told us we don't have an appointment. I showed her the phone log where I called to set-up an appointment. She told me she can see the name on their system but no appointment has been set-up. This business in Westland, Michigan has a bad customer service. They wasted our time. I decided to go somewhere else. Now that I checked the reviews here in yelp, I think it's a blessing in disguise with the missing appointment because if we continued with the service we might have more stress in doing business with them. read more

I just completed my yearly eye exam here for the first time due to insurance changes. I am very happy with the service I received and the patience while picking out new frames. The Staff was friendly and polite. The whole experience was easy and painless. Pricing seemed fair and reasonable. I would recommend Fortney Eyecare in the future! read more

If it is possible I'll rate this place minus.... the villain lady at the reception who said that she is the "manager" has a HORRIBLE BEHAVIOR, tries to rip you off overpricing for the things, saying something then again another price... never the same thing. HORRIBLE PERSON. The overall service of that place is GARBAGE. For the doctor I would say 5 star. Very nice person, careful and taking all the steps needed for the check. But the stress that villain at the reception caused to me, made me loose 2 hour of time and believe it or not I left without receiving my results because that villain didn't give them to me?!!! read more

I have used Fortney Eyecare in Warren, twice. I will NEVER go back. The staff is unprofessional, rude and uneducated on CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to return 5 times because of errors that the store made. Save yourself some time and go elsewhere. read more

WARREN LOCATION: If I could give this place a NEGATIVE 10 I would! Had been going there for yrs ONLY because it was close to where I worked. My last attempt (note: it will be my LAST!!) to get glasses was a nightmare. The lazy a** women who "worked" there told me I had no insurance. Said this before even checking my file that would have showed I DID. Clearly these useless, rude creatures would have had to actually do the job they were hired for (which they obviously went out of their way to avoid!) in order to submit for insurance coverage. Much easier for them to just tell someone you have to pay the entire amount yourself & give THEM the $$. Apparently they're used to just sitting on their buts & drawing welfare instead of working for a living. Whoever is responsible for putting them on payroll needs to realize ALL they are doing is LOSING YOU BUSINESS!!! I will NEVER COME BACK TO YOU & you will lose a lot of business as I will tell everyone I meet about my experience. I ended up going to another eye glass provided closer to where I live & guess what?!? They CONFIRMED (in a matter of a few seconds) that I HAD insurance (which I knew I did!!!). The customer service here is awful. No one greeted me when I came in the door. I just stood at the counter for over 5 minutes with another customer until someone came back from their smoke break. Since he was a head of me I was left standing there. No someone will be with you or any comment. When another lady sat down at the desk I asked her if I could be helped. She was very nice then and helped me, but still I shouldn't have to ask to be waited on. On a side note if you have allergies or asthma you might want to avoid this place as twice I came there and one of the ladies has the place creeping with perfume. read more

I had my first eye exam here and I was very impressed! The Doctor was great and the staff was very helpful, not their problem but even with insurance it is quite expensive. If I could rate this place lower than a one star I would! I had an appointment at 12:00pm and arrived early at 11:30am to fill out new patient paperwork the facility felt it was appropriate to take patient who arrived after me before me. I did not get to see the doctor until 1:30pm! This place has horrible service and I would recommend you to take your business anywhere else for faster service. read more

Oh gosh I hate writing negative reviews but it must be said - this place has fallen terribly in the past few years. Eye doc only there 2 days per week - different doc every time you go in - wait times to get an appointment 2 weeks or more. Wait time once you arrive, up to an hour or more. Mix-ups and miscommunications regarding office fees, payments made, etc. The final blow was that after multiple calls and visits, I find that my contact lens order was never even placed. So now I am waiting an additional several days. When I commented that "this is why folks order online", one of the staff replied, "no, they do that because it's cheaper!" Um, no, actually I personally will pay a bit more for accuracy, speedy delivery and convenience. I hope that the owners here will look into things and step up their game - the one really great employee they had (Kim) has been moved to a different location. I hate having to look for a new eye care facility, and I hate to slam anyone's business, but had to be honest and provide this update. read more
