Love this Place Buffet it's our favorite. If you can't find something here you have a problem. There is something for everyone. Big variety, Soup,salad, seafoods, Chicken, Pork, Beef ,veggies, even pizza, desserts. All you can eat ! Which can get you in trouble. But way better than burgers and fries. We enjoy the dinner menu too Ribs, crab legs , so much more. Never been disappointed. We often came with friends . Holidays & Weekends if you have a larger group you might have a longer wait. Ocean County's Best China Buffet. I live in Brick Township which once had the China Buffet Wars with four different buffets (Only 1 buffet remains there today). Those buffets dont even compare to Fortune. They are new standards to the Chinese buffets these days since I have traveled to different places in NJ and PA. Starting with the location being right off Route 37 (2 lights past the Wal-Mart) and within 10 minutes of the Garden State Parkway. The price is great which is $8 on weekdays and $13 on weeknights after 3:30 pm and weekends. The price includes unlimited soft drinks. Beware of Parking as some spots are designated for 30 minute spots as the Shopping Plaza houses a Stadium Seating Cinema, Ruby Tuesday, Liquor Store and various shops. When you walk in, the hostess is pretty nice as table seating is quicker to get than the booth seating that people prefer. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes but it does fill up fast. The buffet has its salad bar, general foods (rice, chicken, etc), seafood (shrimp and clams during lunch which expands to crab legs and more at dinner), Mongolian Grill (worth the money alone), Sushi Bar and Ice Cream Bar as well. Be sure to tip the Mongolian and Sushi guys because they remember your name for the next time and faster service. The place is constantly air conditioned and has a large dining room to watch TV at dinner whether its the ongoing Olympics or CNN. One dislike, The bathrooms are limited with two toilets in the mens room as you are in Chinese buffet loaded with senior citizens in the nearby communities. When your done with your food, the server will give you moist towelettes and your check (you bring up to the cashier). Nice that the buffet accepts debit cards and credit cards as opposed to the Cash Only Buffet by Monmouth Mall. Overall, the best buffet I have been to. In Brick Township, you no longer have to go to China Buffet King, PJ Lee's Mongolian Grill or Shop Rite Sushi department to pick up all the food that you can get under one roof at Fortune. You can actually make a day over it whether you want to do a movie and buffet (go see the movie first, If you catch my drift), you could go to OTB parlor (one light up) or drive the 5 miles to the Seaside Heights boardwalk. read more

I've been here several times, & I must have been a moron to return. The prices are steep & the food is usually lacking. The floor is always dirty. The bathrooms are filthy. The girls at the hostess stand can barley speak english. EVERY SERVER I'VE ENCOUNTERED HAS BEEN RUDE. The only thing they say is "what do u want drink?" Then "have good night" thats their extent of english. They all have fake english name tags on. The sushi chef is an absolute nightmare. He gives you a nasty look if you take some sushi from his masterpiece he creates out of fake crab. He makes you feel uncomfortable to even take anything. When they refilled my drink several times they never dumped out the cup. They just kept filling it up, gross. read more

Eh! This is a Chinese buffet with a wide selection, which earns it one star. The food is pretty good, but not great - many sauces are too sweet, and when I went during a very busy dinner hour, some of the food was cold. They have a pretty good sushi selection, believe it or not (another star), and the service was prompt in clearing plates and refilling my drink (3 stars!). I would not come back, though - the food quality and freshness wasn't great during a busy time, which makes me worry for the less busy times. read more

I tend to travel around the state for work and get to eat at Buffets from Cape May to the DMB to the tip of northern jersey. I tend to focus on Sushi and buffets more for the time it takes to eat and move on. Fortune I'm lucky to say is close to home and we probably go weekly for the famly. There just isn't a lot of better buffets with the selection that Fortune offers. The grill actually works well, the guy behind the counter cares about his creations and you should ask for suggestions of sauces for the grilling. It's great to have it hot off the grill. Sushi: It's not a sushi place. The guy behind the counter has been there years and will make something custom if you ask and tip. (Guy works hard so tip him and the grill guy $1.00 or two). You will found a decent selection of rolls and sushi. Is it a 10 grade? No but its still decent if you don't want to spend $25.00 for just sushi somewhere else. The fruit station is well stocked. The dessert area has a decent selection. The wait staff is normally right there to clear the plates off your table and refill drinks. The front hostees are warm and friendly when you come in (and they learned my kids names). There will be something for everyone at Fortune. My kids eat the shrimp and pizza, I'm going for the sushi, the grill and the oysters (on weekends if in season). Wife loves the ribs if they are cooked well. They have crab legs at night and that station sells out fast for a staff reload normally. If you get there after 5:30 to 7:00 on a weekend, expect to wait up to an hour to get seated. Before 5:30 and you should be seated in 10 minutes at most. There is an evening rush at Fortune. There isn't a better buffet in Ocean county (the mall buffet doesn't compare in anyway shape or form). Freehold has their Buffet and it's ok but it's dark inside and the selection seems limited as does the sushi station. In the years I've been going into Fortune, I haven't had a bad night and we've had parties of up to 14 there. If you are bringing more then 6, call ahead for a reservation so they can configure the seating for you. Otherwise, you get put on a list for 6 or under. IMO you'll probably like Fortune more then any other Buffet for 20 miles in all directions. A family of four can eat pretty well there for under $40.00. (Two adults and two small children). Kids are charged by their age. My daughter will be 3 for the rest of her life there. One more thing. Ice Cream in this heat. They have gallon containers of Ice Cream and 6 to 8 flavors. I'm surprised by the reviews for this place. This was my first visit and I was really excited about it...at least initially. Once I started tasting the food I wished we had picked someplace else. Lunch was just under $8 pp and dinner is $13 pp monday through thursday...more on friday, sat, and sunday. There is a lot of choices. One island for american fare, one for salads, one for dessert, one for soups/rice/noodles, one for fruit, and two for Chinese food. There's also a small hard ice cream bar (and I mean hard - I couldn't scoop it) with about 6 flavors, a sushi area, and the mongolian grill. The waitress brings your drinks and clears your plate. You pay after the meal so they can add any juice or milk drinks, which are an extra charge. The food was lack luster. Several of the dishes were just downright bad, like the trays full of brown lettuce. The chicken in several of the Chinese dishes was a weird chunky, and the sushi smelled and tasted fishy even though I watched them prepare it. We did not have the mongolian bar. The dessert bar wasn't very appealing but they have this peanut/sesame/honey bar thing that is FANTASTIC!!!! Definitely try it! The ice cream bar however was missing the toppings (maybe that's only for dinner) and the ice cream was so hard we couldn't scoop it out. Avoid the pizza, it smelled like raw dough, and the bacon wrapped fake lobster sticks were bad. There were no crab legs in sight. Do have the crunchy fried wontons...they were also awesome! If it wasn't for the wontons and the honey/peanut bar the meal would have been a complete loss. The wait staff was very nice and quick to clean the tables, but not so quick on the drink refills. They also started putting dinner entrees out around 3pm, complete with a sign saying that it was only for customers who payed dinner prices...lunch runs until 3:30 so why they put it out so early I don't know. Perhaps to up the price a customer had to pay if they ended up putting it on their plate? Either way you were staring at food you couldn't have unless you were willing to put down an extra $5 per person....food that sat for at least a half hour before dinner service started. Over all the place wasn't busy for lunch, but there was enough people filtering in and out it wasn't dead either. The food wasn't great and I was disappointed..I wouldn't refuse to go back but I wouldn't choose to go there, especially if I was paying, and I definitely wouldn't pay dinner prices. read more

We ate here sun night around 730pm after we went to seaside heights. Dinner was $13.49 per person and they had snow crabs. At first they were small but then they start bringing out bigger one. They had sushi but did not look good. It was ok but not worst buffet I been to. read more

Overall the food was good but the staff was very rude. The place is a bit messy and you always have to wait for something to be restocked. The selection was nice and the waitress was quick to refill our drinks, but never smiled the whole time we were there. The people that bring the food out to restock seem angry and unapproachable. Fortune Buffet is where I go when I am visiting my mom, but have a desire to find the closest approximation to actual Asian food in Ocean County. Really decent oriental American style buffet. They have at times pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. Weekend crab legs. Standard fair of foods with a few i do not see else where. Was better when it first opened a few years ago but I still go occasionally, and it's hit or miss. If it's busy, the food is usually very fresh. hot and very tasty. The staff is always very fast, and attentive. Most of the time the food is good, and hit or miss, I've never felt like I wasted money. My Wife and I ate there recently and the service was horrible. We both ordered sodas but when the server came back she only brought 1 soda. The food was warm at best and the staff push their way in front of you to refill food. We had to track down our server to get refills on our sodas and to get our dirty dishes cleared away. read more

This is the most disgusting place I've ever eaten at! I asked for a "cracker" for my crab legs and so did my Mom and they said "only one per table"! Nobody came to clean up the plates on the table or check that water was refilled. Most of the food was inedible, dried out or in butter. My wife and I eat here at least once a week when we are in Toms River for the winter. The buffet offers a very wide variety of both American and Chinese fare. No, you don't get gourmet, but the food is tasty and filling. The Mongolian grill is outstanding. My wife and I always start with a plate from the Mongolian grill. You load a plate with whatever ingredients you choose, add as many of the nine available sauces as you desire, then watch it cooked. Delicious. After that, we fill up whatever space is left in our stomachs with offerings from the buffet. For the price, you can't go wrong! read more

Started with sweet and sour chicken. Tasted alright but cold. Half way though waitress comes and takes plate while I'm eating. Took 40 minutes to get a Pepsi. That's unbelievable. I complained about it and waitress got together stared at me and laughed while speaking Chinese. We have a party of 3 sitting at table for 2 and refused to give us a bigger table or booth. And to top it off. I went to hibachi grill had this family take there food and poor it on mine and manager did nothing about it except give me the most dumbfounded expression like I was from Mars. This is not the worst Chinese Buffet I've been to but it's far from good and I'm thinking that it would take extraordinary circumstances to get me to go back. Everything I tried was just plain Meh! It's a buffet I get that but the food was generally flavorless. Four of us went here last night on my treat, and I felt we could have done so much better at so many places around here. $48 bucks without the tip to be jammed in with the senior citizens another review here mentioned is far from an appetizing experience. This area is packed with retirement communities so the "Gray Dawn" factor from South Park is to be expected but it's certainly not a selling point. There's a relatively new movie house here that I like but there are much better eating options at this shopping center, even Ruby Tuesdays and a few other places as well. Oh yeah, a warning, the Duck was downright dangerous, with tiny, little, razor sharp bones and like zero actual duck meat, just really a bunch of duck bones. The pizza had to be frozen, it was thick and doughy and blah. I love Gen Tso chicken but again, despite a sign saying "mildly spicy ",it was far from flavorful or hot as I prefer. I can't think of one good reason to subject myself or friends to this place again. read more

This place is busy although the wait (depends on the amount of people in your party) did not seem excessive. Once seated I wished we held out for a booth instead of a table in the center with people constantly walking by to and from the buffet area. The food seemed to have a good turnover and the workers were constantly refilling the trays. Food selection is about as good as it can get. There is something for everyone and quite a variety from Chinese, sushi, dim sum, barbeque and American too. Great opportunity to try new items. The price is reasonable considering you get soup, all the food you can eat including desert along with an ice cream sundae bar. Staff was attentive to clearing plates the minute you finished your food. Not really a place to relax and pace yourself but a place to eat, eat more, force desert because it's there and then get the heck out because if you stop eating the staff brings your check pronto. read more
