Gross. That's literally it, gross. The food was terrible, the salad was soggier than ecoli soaked swamp veggies. The 'ranch' dressing was a congealed, flavorless mess. The cold sushi was served hot and the hot sushi was served cold with bad quality ginger. The noodles were soggy, underseasoned (imagine boiled spaghetti) and greasy. The chicken is super grisley and oiley as well, there was a hard piece of bone which hurt to bite on. It's almost as if they heated up old food to throw at surprise new victi-uh customers. The food quality was just terrible here and felt borderline unsafe. I will not be eating here ever again. The best part was the fortune cookie and even that came thrown in the bag broken and hopeless. read more

I had actually been here several years ago with my brother, and when we were in the area and he asked me if I wanted to hit this place again I was happy to say yes! This is a little hidden gem in a strip mall in Riverton. Don't be put off by the outside, it doesn't look like much but the inside has a cozy feel a great staff and some amazing sushi. I started with the Sake Nigiri which was fresh and very flavorful with no off tastes. Just good, flavorful salmon on fresh rice. Next I had a Vegas and rainbow roll, now for the price I was absolutely not expecting the large well made rolls I received. had I but known I would have only ordered one or skipped the Nigiri. And the price was more than reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. I left stuffed with excellent sushi and some good Sapporo beer and very happy about it. The staff is super friendly, the restaurant is cozy and home feeling, the sushi is top notch, and they even have a good selection of items for the strange people that don't like sushi. I know hard to believe, but they do in fact exist. I will definitely be back again and would even be willing to take the trip past other restaurants to get here. read more

I have personally found it challenging to find good Chinese food here in Utah. However, I once again relied on my fellow elites and gave Fortune Cookie a try. We ordered just shy of $100 worth of food, we were hungry and hopeful, there were too many choices to choose from! We got Cantonese noodles, wonton soup, orange chicken, crispy beef, and fried rice. This was my first time trying Cantonese noodles, and I loved them; they weren't those thick and dense noodles you get with LoMein or ChowMein. These are true to their name - thin and tasty. The orange chicken portion was huge; don't expect to order this for one person. The crispy beef was new for me, but I really enjoyed the flavor, and the portion size was out of this world. The wonton soup was so flavorful, I ate that first, and knew the rest of the meal was going to be amazing. My only complaint is the fried rice didn't have enough meat in it, and it lacked flavor. Ok this would get a 4 star but here's why only a 3. First the sweet and sour chicken and salad w/ their ginger dressing was tasty and good portion. Waiter super nice! It is a loud enviornment which I'm not a fan of. The big reason I'm giving a 3 star is the General Tsao is on a specialty menu which costs $2 more. This is so out of the norm w/ the majority of other restaurants having that as a main stay dish. They also dont give a free egg role/wanton like everywhere else goes. read more

Fortune Cookie is one of those places that was desperately needed in Riverton. Before it arrived there was more chance of finding chicken in a chicken McNugget than there was of finding decent Chinese food in Riverton! I'll be honest, I didn't have high hopes for it, figured it would be your run of the mill strip mall Chinese, and for a while didn't even bother trying it. But one day my wife and I wanted some Chinese, but didn't feel like battling all the construction on about every road that would lead to somewhere more formal, so we decided what the heck, we'll get take out, if it's not great well we'll at least know. We were pleasantly surprised. Love the egg rolls and the hot and sour soup is great. All the Chinese dishes we have had from there (and we've had many different ones over time) have been of good quality. And there's enough food in one main item to be plenty for two people. Just order an extra egg roll and hot and sour soup and you are set! Decent meal for 2 for about $18. Can't speak much for the service since we always get takeout. read more

Wow its been a while since Ive eaten here. The previous owners now own watermoon cafe in Draper. I have to say that my expectations were low but our visit today pleasantly surprised us. We had the crispy beef, vegetables and bean curd, and mapo tofu from the Chinese menu. They were actually very authentic. The owner told us she just hired a new chef from Taiwan. This was definitely good news! The sushi were all half off and it was decent. Big portions even though its 50% off. Delivery came quickly but the food was awful. The fried rice had no flavor and the actual rice was hard in the middle. Either very old rice or undercooked. The chicken dish was terrible too overly salty and the chicken was dry. Save your money don't eat here. This is not good Chinese food. You are better off at Panda Express. read more

I've now been to Fortune Cookie twice and overall my impression is it's just ok. My husband and I went the first time on recommendation from my parents. They'd been there before, knew we were looking for sushi and since it was close we went. My husband really likes spicy rolls but when we asked for something spicy the waiter really couldn't recommend much. He offered to ask the sushi chef to make the rolls spicy which then meant we just got some Sriracha sauce dotted on top. Seriously not what we were looking for. The rolls were ok but nothing special. To me their seaweed salad was kind of funky. Definitely not my favorite. The second time I went was just yesterday with my family and overall not too shabby. My Dad and I ordered 4 rolls between us and found out that if you order 4 rolls they price them at $20 for two instead of full price. Which, depending on what you get, can be a slightly better deal. I believe our waiter said this only works between 11am and 4pm though. I'd ask before ordering if this is a deal you're looking to get. My Mom ordered a bento box type lunch which looked ok but didn't come with rice which to me is strange. My brother ordered the Crispy Beef which was really tasty and really crispy. I only had a bite but he cleared his plate and seemed to like it. The rolls my Dad and I got were ok. I think we got the Tokyo, Hawaiian, Rainbow and Playboy rolls. The Hawaiian was different because it had mango on top which was a different treat. It's rather sweet though so if you're not into sweet skip it. The Rainbow was pretty tasty and had a variety of fish on top. I liked the Playboy better than the Tokyo because of a subtle taste difference. I think the sauce on the Tokyo just reminded me of grocery store sushi so it wasn't anything special. I can say the rolls here are rather expensive. The variety is better than some strip mall sushi joints so they do have that going for them. There isn't a lot that's spicy though so if you're into that go somewhere else. If you're looking for a sushi fix and have people who would rather have Chinese food this isn't a bad option. From the taste of my Brother's plate the Chinese food may be the way to go. read more

Let's just say this little place is one of my favs places to go for any type of food. Yes it might not be fire everyone but the orange beef here is to die for. It is more on the crispy side which is what I like about it. I seriously am in love with the stuff! Also they have great service for a little Asian place! Usually they seem indifferent or a bit unhappy. Here they are very happy and always want to help you and it makes you feel way more welcome! Give the place a shot. We were so pleased with the food. I got shrimp with veggies, fried rice and a salad. My husband had Kung Pou chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. We had the lunch size and brought home a lot of leftovers. The veggies, except mushrooms, were all fresh and cooked just right. We will definitely go back. When we showed up, everything seemed like it would be a good little spot, but we were sorely disappointed. The soup and edamame were both good, but as soon as our entrees came we found out quickly how bad the food was. The sesame chicken was way too sweet and was soggy. The chicken in garlic sauce was 90% veggies, and almost no chicken. Normally places like this have a saving grace in their fried rice, but not this one. I ordered the Mountain Stream roll and it was disgusting. Something wasn't right about it. I gave it to my coworkers and they all said it was gross too. They also give you one packet of soy sauce for to go orders. That's not enough. I asked for extra low sodium soy sauce and I got a one packet of regular soy sauce. So I have to say the owner is so nice and sweet! We've eaten here several times and have always had a pleasant experience and good kind people work here. We've had a few dishes and some sushi. It's not the best Chinese food I have ever had. But it's tasty and does its job as food. Not been disappointed at all. It's affordable and fills the belly. I wanted to come back to update my review and also give a explanation as to why I gave such a poor rating for this restaurant. We first had a poor experience here the time before last when we were in. Our waitress who used to be pretty nice was down right rude and we had awful service- I mean awful - even my children noticed and said she was in a bad mood and not very nice. I asked to speak with the owner and let her know we had a very poor dining experience and that hopefully it was just a one bad experience- we did not ask for a discount or anything. We just wanted her to know of her poor behavior. Everyone has a bad day though right ? A few weeks later we went back and again the service was down right awful again with the same waitress. Again even our small children noticed. Our bill was brought out and I kept adding up the math and it was not adding up ... until I realized a $18 gratuity fee had been added on to our party of fours table - me " umm excuse me mam what is this fee ?" Waitress " that is my fee for you ... I remember when you guys were here last time( pointed to the table that we sat in the last time ) and complained about me , my owner said you guys never tip ( not true ) and I could add a fee if you come here again " ( we NEVER don't tip and what owner would say that ) I asked to speak with the owner and she was in China - we told her we would NOT be tipping her and she needed to take that fee off because that is unacceptable. I waited to leave this full review until I spoke with the owner. She apologized and also told us she would not be letting that waitress go because "good servers " are hard to find - good servers who try to pull a fast one and add how ever much money they feel like to your bill ‍ I then stated we wanted a refund because we would not eating where she is .. we threw out our leftovers because the whole situation freaked us out. Anyways the owner had no interest in refunding us because we already ate there ... seriously !!!! Wow !!! Then she did offer to give me a refund in the end if I took my yelp comment down - umm no thank you that should have been offered in the beginning- If you do eat here just make sure you check your bill over twice -we actually found a amazing Sushi place just down the street that is AMAZING! read more

Judging from the disgruntled look on my dad's face as I was driving, I knew this was going to be an interesting dinner. You see, my parents will only eat at restaurants where rice comes out in large bowls. This limits their choices to pretty much Chinese food--they don't venture much outside of that realm. They also prefer not having to drive too far to go eat rice, so, that limits them to eating at home, or venturing to a Chinese restaurant. Well, this place was "far" for my dad--more than ten minutes outside of his normal places, and so he was a little huffy, and making comments left and right. We arrived in a newly developed area of Riverton and arrived at Fortune Cookie. Honestly, this was the first time that I had been to a restaurant that served both Chinese and Japanese food. I guess when in Rome ... so we did, but stuck with what my parents wanted--Chinese food. We ordered four or five entrees, including: honey walnut prawns, orange chicken, house special crispy pan fried noodles, and something else. Our waitress was hard core cause she didn't even write down our order, she memorized it, and then punched it into the computer. Hard core, I say! Overall, the food was pretty decent, and my parents although grumbling in the car, were ok with the food. Service was pretty good, and they were quick to take care of our requests fairly quickly. The restaurant was pretty full on a Saturday evening, so I guess that's always a good sign. I'm docking one star for not having a real focus. Most places that I have specialize in one cuisine, not multiple. From what we had, their Chinese selection may be their strength, so I would say go for that if you try it out. read more

I get this place quite often, and get a variety of sushi. I was introduced to an avocado roll witch is just avocado with rice and seaweed. I called to get one the next day and the lady said we don't have those. I told her I just ordered one the day before. She said "oh we don't make those." I asked why they changed and she told me they never made them. Super disappointed because it was super good and I know it is easier to make than something like a California roll. I have also gotten a rainbow roll multiple times and the salmon which is suppose to be orange would be grey. So be careful the food is still fresh and good. read more

I get so hesitant having food delivered because I am convinced it will be cold and soggy. I was desperate last night and decided to have dinner delivered because I didn't feel well and just wanted it brought right up to my door. I was SO surprised when I received my food 20 minutes earlier than scheduled... it was hot, it was fresh, it was yummy and it tasted like they had just brought it out of the kitchen to our table. I have been here twice but on my last visit tried the sushi. I noticed they indicated on the menu and outside on a sign that the sushi rolls are 50% off. Good deal huh? Well, not if you ridiculously inflate the price before you give half off. I don't think I have been to other sushi joints that have $18 and $20 sushi rolls on the menu. But hey, cut that by %50 and all of a sudden $9 and $10 dollar rolls are a fantastic deal...right? The rolls themselves were just decent. The cucumber had no crunch and the rolls with tempura shrimp was soggy like it was out of the microwave.
