As soon as I walked in, the cashier had no mask on, but did put it on after he got off the phone with 2 customers. Apologized for the wait, then put the mask on. I ordered my food. Sat in my car & waited 10 minutes, as he said it would be ready. I seen a bag of food on a table to the right, located behind the desk, I'd assume it was for orders going out. I asked if that was mine, he didn't say anything & bent down & picked MY bag of food off from the floor. I didn't say a word, as I did already pay for it with my credit card. I went to the car with my food & he got my order wrong. I went back & gave kinda what I wanted. But no duck or soy sauce, just hot sauce & ketchup. I guess it's because I'm a black woman, maybe? Maybe he keeps the food for blacks on the floor? The chicken looks diseased, no really, the flesh had that gray color. I just came back from infusions for my illness up the block. So I was famished after being hooked to an IV for 4 hours, I needed to eat. The food was bland. I regretted not getting my money back & just getting a bagel from the bagel shop. When picking up, there have been occasions where an item has been missing, so I highly recommend checking your order before you leave the store. With delivery, I've ordered in GrubHub and been told 45 mins until delivery and waited over two hours. If I was rating just on food, five stars. I've ordered from Fortune countless times over the years. In the last year their service as well as their food has declined significantly! To the point where it seems that the people who work there try to make it abundantly clear that they really just don't care about the customers. The food quality is not what it once was and that is very disappointing considering the prices don't equate to the poor quality. The interesting thing is that the Fortune in Rego Park (who I understand has the same owners) is much much better. It is ok to make mistakes. However it isn't ok to not apologize, be condescending, and have an attitude. The person Mazal on the phone very unprofessional. These folks made a mistake with my order a while after I called asking to replace it, my order was still at their restaurant and was told that that there's a delivery order ahead of me. That would have been a total order time of 2 hours. So I asked to just keep their order and asked for a refund on Grubhub. I'm not sure what's more surprising: me not discovering this place sooner or the fact there is only one other review here. Beware this is a long ass review for Chinese takeout so A buddy and I decided to stop by here after chilling around St John's (two blocks away). Location: tiny spot with about a total of 5 tables. If you have room to sit, do so but this is primarily takeout chinese. Price: We moved towards the dinner combinations, which varied between $12-$15 bucks. As far as they go, it comes with rice, egg roll and soup. There are other items on the menu, standard Chinese take out selection. Along with this, they also have fresh sushi on premise. There is (very) limited availability (two seats next to chef) so call ahead. Food: I enjoyed the food a lot, though I'm sure the pictures will not do justice. All food felt freshly prepared and did not have the signature Chinese-takeout msg poured all over nor the oil. Even though that's something I'm guilty of enjoying, it's nice to eat this and not feel too guilty. Quantity is up there, well worth the price and none of us were able to fully finish. I recommend their beef lo mein and kung-pao chicken. I've tried one or two else but I enjoyed those two in particular. Service: for takeout, this was standard. No issues whatsoever and the people were honestly really nice and helpful. We requested to sit in after we ordered for take out originally, once we found an opening and they were fine with it. It seemed very much like a kind family business catered towards locals. I would've gave this 4 stars as nothing stood out amazingly to reach a five, but the fact that we are comparing Chinese takeout, the ladies helping were kind and the food was clean and didn't feel funny afterward, I'll bump to a 5. Normally don't review places that I haven't dined in a few times but this case warrants it. Ordered 3 entrees on a Monday night with a total coming out to almost $70. Food arrived timely and was delicious. The issue arrises from that they forgot to include the rice with the meals. Considering this was Chinese food we thought that perhaps someone had forgot to pack it. So we call the place up. The person who answered was not only unapologetic but started to make excuses. Stating that we have to select the type of rice we want in order to get rice. I had checked the menu prior to the call and sure enough white rice is included on their menu and you only make a selection if you want brown or fried rice for an added cost of $1. This person was clearly clueless and just refused to acknowledge that a mistake was made. So my family and I sat down to dine on a meal that was not very filling. I ordered food from both the Chinese food menu and sushi. I have to say both were amazing. Chinese food tastes authentic and has nice portions. Sushi was delicious and I was very impressed with the quality of fish. The staff is super friendly and efficient. This will definitely be my go to place from now on.
