After a work day at home, I went for take out. Ordered the "special"Egg Fu yung. Three huge EFY pancakes with delicious gravy. I could hardly eat one. There was so much seafood in it, the flavor was great. For a Chinese take out, I thought it was great. Oh, $14.99. I was alone in restaurant while they prepped it and the hostess kept me updated on the progress. It is a typical Chinese restaurant theme with fancy lanterns, etc. I will go back for sure when the mood hits!! read more

Stopped by for some wonton soup. The soup was pretty good, I liked the broth. I also got plain lo Mien which was good. The fried rice was disappointing, it was lacking flavor and was almost too dry. read more

We were looking to have a low stress low cost dinner so we went to a strip mall with lots of parking and a 3 star Chinese restaurant. We were the only ones in there which made us a little concerned but as it was just late afternoon for dinner. Food and service were ok but I did get the wrong meal. The waitress was very apologetic and offered to replace it but I was tired and didn't want wait. She did give us a free dessert and again apologized for the food. The food was not great but was plentiful. The ambiance is casual. The typical booths and tables with some Chinese decor. I was not put off by the wrong order and give the establishment 3.5 stars. read more

Resisted trying this place for years and now I know why. To be fair, I ordered two dishes that even a bad Chinese food place should make well. The first was a Lo Mein, simple enough right? Well, the noodles were too thick AND they were mealy with no texture to them. The sauce was tasteless. Then there was the Szechaun dish with whatever protein you want. I'm looking for a tasty sauce, good fresh veggies, and meat. I ordered it medium spicy. The beef was good, but the sauce was overly sweet, not spicy, and lacking in any other flavor. I'm going to give the Egg Foo Young a try, which is also a dish you shouldn't mess up. But clearly, this is Americanized "Chinese" food that needs a lot of work. It's what I expected however, but I hoped to be surprised. If you've EVER had real Chinese food, or been to a Chinatown somewhere, this stuff will leave you wanting your money back and wondering "why did I do this?" read more

My husband and I live close by and have ordered takeout occasionally but always knowing that the food was basic and not expecting anything special. Yesterday we ordered and I ordered Pork Lo Mein for the first time....it was terrible. I've never seen Lo Mein like this...just as somebody else said, the noodles were thick and mealy and little to no sauce. There was VERY little pork, a few vegetables thrown in and NO taste. I only ate a small amount and it went straight in the trash. My husband's Hunan beef was the usual basic. We will now drive to Brunswick for Chinese takeout. We stopped by today to try the lunch buffet. The restaurant was clean, food was hot/fresh, and the service was friendly. The reasons for only 4 stars: no hot tea, no wasabi, and the food was very bland. A sprinkle of soy sauce and a dose of Chinese Chile Oil helped tremendously. Sadly this place is a shell of its former self. I've been eating there for about 20 years and it's yet another restaurant that has slowly declined over the years and several different owners. I Used to eat at the buffet about twice a week and for the past few years now it's barely edible. Went in and ordered Moo Shu pork off of the menu a few days ago and was massively dissapointed by a bland plate of soggy vegetables that I literally had to dig through to find even the tinest slice of pork. Despite some mixed reviews - we tried the Fortune House tonight. We love Chinese and were willing to try a new restaurant. Overall, we would rate the food a solid C! It's ok...not great...not bad but just ok. We got Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. They were crispy on edges but very soggy in middle. Add Chicken Chop Suey, Honey chicken and soup and we had a full meal. Portions were good and there were plenty of leftovers for another day. Not something I'd be pushing to go back to any time soon...but if you are hungry for Chinese and don't want to make it...then it may be worth the time. Just keep your expectations low and you'll be ok! read more

We were habitual patrons of Fortune House, but we have witnessed a gradual lack of quality in the food there. Tonight we paid $17.00 for very little food and it was poorly packaged, and overpriced. The basic meal, Pork Egg Foo Young, which was always fresh and tasty, was overcooked; seemed re-heated and not only didn't at all seem like an omelette of sorts, but was tough and chewy. - First time EVER, in 3 decades that my spouse left them on the plate. The "gravy" was a tasteless flour/cornflour goo, filled with lumps and we had to add soy sauce and what-not even to eat it. The egg-rolls, excellent the first time we bought food there, were like Lincoln Logs. The Special House Lo Mein was greasy tasting spaghetti with not much else in it: perhaps two canned shrimp and a touch or two of old vegetables and meat. This was supposed to be a special treat for our family. - Money is scarce and it was always a delight to go to this restaurant and enjoy something tasty. - Stay away. This was a fine, top-notch restaurant. We recommend you stay away. P.S. Staff is bored and PLEASE, stay away from their recycled watery/tasteless buffet. - One lady was ladling food with one hand and passing a baby in diapers back and forth to other servers with the other. - Ouch. read more

Monday evening diner Buffett. Would have been better spent going next door to the grocery and selecting oriental choices from the hot prepared food deli and taking it to Neptune Park. Just about every Buffett offering was overcooked or dried out leftovers from the lunch crowd. Egg drop soup maybe rated 2 stars but forget adding the dried noodles. atmosphere dated, staff bored. Sampled a little bit of everything and was impressed with nothing. The ending of the story was that my fortune cookie package was empty. Place was empty when we came in at 6:30 .. Unexpectedly good Chinese food. I'm not sure why there are so many low ratings as this was quality Chinese food. They didn't use instant rice which is a huge plus. The Hunan beef was well spiced and the veggies still had some texture. Better than any other Chinese I've had in the southern us. read more
