Lunch special soups
Melissa T H.

A-ok lunch here because the lunch Mongolian beef was great... 4 stars with the tender beef, grilled green onions and fabulous flavor. Everything else was just ok, though I wouldn't crave it again: The Rangoons were made with unusually thick wonton wrapper (which I didn't care for) the plum sauce was on the thin side and had little flavor, the honey chicken was too heavily breaded and the pieces a little smaller than I like. The fried rice was too heavy on the soy sauce. It was all edible, but just not great. The service was attentive; she checked on us often, which we appreciated. The interior was comfortable and we would give other entrees another chance if we are close by as the lunch specials were very reasonably priced, but I won't drive out of the way.

Best Chinese we have had in the area. Prepared expertly and was very fresh. Loved this place, staff were very friendly. Look forward to my next visit.

Beef Lo Mien
Kristen S.

Yes!!! Found a good Chinese food restaurant that delivers to Shawnee. I ordered the hot and sour soup, beef Lo mien and Szechuan chicken. The hot and sour soup was a little bland; but, the Szechuan and Lo mien made up for it. I could not stop eating the Szechuan chicken. The Lo mien had an interesting subtle hint of a smokey flavor. It was quite good. I typically have to add soy sauce for extra flavoring on Lo mien, but it was not necessary. Price was reasonable and the portion size was generous. I'm looking forward to eating the left overs.....I have a feeling once the favors settle it is going to taste even better.

Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. For 2 main course dishes your bill could easily reach up to $40. Otherwise, The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and service was quick. It also wasn't too crowded when we visited. I would rate the service 4/5, mainly because we had to ask for silverware, condiments, and tissues separately. The food, though, is definitely a 5/5. Highly recommended! I will definitely return to have more dishes like beef chow fun, the soups and last, but not least BIRDS NEST!!

The standout dish was definitely the bird's nest--it had the best flavor overall. The duck was a bit too fatty, and the calamari was heavily battered and greasy. By the time I grabbed our food and headed back out, the front spots had already opened up again. We did two lunch specials for around $20 total, which feels like a steal for how much food you get and how good it was. We ordered the Chicken with Cashew and the General Tso's lunch specials, both came with soup and a side. The cashew chicken was seriously incredible. A lot of places overload this dish with veggies until it turns into chaos, but this one was balanced with the right mix of ingredients and is easily one of my new favorites in KC. Only bummer: hardly any cashews. Still delicious, but I wanted a little more cashew love. Crab rangoons were hot and crispy with a solid filling even after a bit of a drive home. The fried rice had great flavor, and the steamed white rice was bouncy and soft, not that kind with crispy dry edges. Both soups were spot on, and THANK YOU for including wonton strips. A lot of places skip them and it really can make or break egg drop soup for me. General Tso's had great flavor, but the chicken pieces were a little big and it wasn't very spicy, even though we didn't order it no spicy. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know if you want that classic kick. Inside is clean and cute with tables for about 8 to 10 small groups, the front desk is toward the back, and everyone was kind and helpful. As an Elite, I also loved seeing their Yelp pride around the restaurant. Overall, super solid lunch specials and I'll absolutely be back!!

I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting. There was a sense of urgency and I appreciated that.

Ordering is super easy via mobile/web and you can do delivery through services (some even with no fees!) or just traditional carryout. Dining in gives you a chance to order from a huge menu with Chinese & other Asian styles available. Traditional favorites like Sesame Chicken or General Tso's or some sashimi a'la carte are all over the menu. There is a lunch special of a chef's choice nigiri plus soup & crab Rangoon that runs less than $15 and is guaranteed to satisfy! Service is great and the dining space & ambiance are clean & comfortable. Flavors are outstanding, but as far as portion sizes go for Chinese style, you can get more for your money elsewhere. But the food meets the value, especially the sushi rolls, and from the time you order until the time you pick up, the turnaround time is fantastic, making it totally worth the visit.
