I ordered takeout from this restaurant and got a variety of different menu options. The orange chicken was dry and tasteless. Out of all the Chinese restaurants I've ate from, this was worst orange chicken I've ever had. The cream cheese rangoon's were tasty and on point. The fried rice and Singapore noodles were tasty and on point. I've had better egg rolls from plenty of other restaurants. We decided to try delivery (Uber Eats) from this establishment. I ordered chicken and broccoli combination with fried rice. The food was absolutely delicious -- the sauce made the chicken/broccoli so yummy. They provided great portions of meat, veggies, and rice. This new Chinese restaurant offered stellar service, premium food and generous portions at a reasonable price during my dine-in lunch visit. My chicken with mixed vegetables lunch ($8.95) included choice of rice, choice of egg roll or crab rangoon and choice of canned soda or bottled water. It was brought to my table with a smile just eight minutes after I ordered at the counter. I liked the good variety of perfectly cooked veggies, the tasty, premium, white chicken and the moist, tasty, but not oily fried rice - all with generous portions. I found the dining area to be clean, nice and newly remodeled, but I didn't notice any background music. The owner at the counter was polite, cheerful, helpful, and sincerely interested in feedback to improve the customer experience - nice! My coworkers and I order take out from here frequently. We've gotten to know Cindy at the front counter and she's always a great host making sure our food is good, our table is clean and we're happy with our meal. Our food is still hot when we get it back to the office and so tasty. Portion sizes are very generous. We've also enjoyed dine in as well. The eating area is updated and clean. I'm glad they don't play music that drowns out conversation as so many other places do. We order food from here at least once a week. read more

First time having China Star. Ordered it through Door Dash. Although the delivery time kept getting pushed back, it's hard to determine if it's the restaurants fault or the driver not getting to restaurant on time. We got the order about 7:15 on Sunday night. When the order arrived, it was large bag being handed over from DD. I took the food inside, opened two entrees and realized there was no rice in the bag. I had Garlic chicken and my friend, Cashew Chicken. Both were like soup and impossible to eat with a fork. Rice would have soaked that sauce up but.... Flavor was not bad. I called the restaurant and the man that answered kept telling me I needed to request a refund on DD since I didn't order through them. I indicated to him twice that my intent wasn't a refund but it was 7:15 on a Sunday night and I wanted the meals I ordered. DD doesn't package the meal, the restaurant does. They failed to provide the rice, not DD. He hung up on me. I will never order from this place again and seriously not sure how they have a 4.7 on YELP. read more

I've gotten takeout here twice now and the food was good both times. The kung pao chicken had a little heat but I like spicy. They use white meat but I would actually have preferred dark meat. The menu says white meat so I knew what it would be when I ordered. The pork with mixed vegetables was also good and had a nice variety of vegetables. Lo mein beef was also tasty. Shocked the fried rice is just rice with soy sauce, fried rice is supposed to have onions, eggs, and peas sometimes carrots AND they charge 1$ extra for it... i got sweet n sour shrimp also zero veggies or pineapple you would traditionally see. We ate here tonight for the first and last time. The restaurant was a dive and uncomfortably hot. There is no wait staff because you order on a touch screen. The screen was sticky from previous customers. I ordered hot and sour soup which was inedible. It was mainly liquid, and it smelled and tasted like vinegar. My date ordered sweet and sour shrimp. All he got was fried shrimp (no vegetables or pineapple) and a bowl of runny dipping sauce. My entree was triple delight which was ok, but it was very salty. The guy behind the counter was not at all friendly. We were the only customers there which tells you a lot. My advice is don't ever eat there. If you're in the Lenexa area, we recommend Lucky Wok instead. read more

Was not a fan of this place. The online menu didn't read correctly to me so I called to confirm the exact sauces used for each meal (and confirm allergies) and still the order was wrong. I got up charged for things I didn't ask for and overall the meat was super thick and hard and was not good in flavor. Employees were kind and after explaining my order wasn't right they spent a good amount of time telling me why I was wrong but did fix it. The names of the items I wanted didn't make sense given all other Chinese places and I think it's so odd the fried rice changes? I would skip this place and go anywhere else. Our fav is still China King in Leawood or Moon Wok and would pay/drive for those over this place. Didn't even get a photo of what we got - also crab Rangoon wasn't great which is a big deal breaker for me! read more

TERRIBLE FOOD!! Steamed rice thrown into a wok with soy sauce is NOT fried rice. There wasn't one pea or one carrot or one sliver of onion or any egg! Zero! Zilch! I had the Triple Delight combination and my husband had the General Tso's Chicken combination. The All Day Combination plates come with a choice of steamed rice or "fried" rice (ha ha ha!), an egg roll and one crab rangoon. We also ordered a side of crab rangoon. Again... the first word in crab rangoon is CRAB! Zero! Zilch! Nothing but cream cheese. My husband said the General Tso's sauce was weird... not like any he has ever had and not in a good way! There isn't a soda fountain. No complimentary water. Only cans of soda and bottled water that you have to pay for and then help yourself to in the back of the tiny dining area. Fortune cookies didn't have any fortunes in them! The only good thing I can say is that the food was very hot. Other than that...just don't eat here! Take your business to Fortune Wok! Hands down THE best Chinese food in the KC area! I'm done trying other Chinese restaurants and wasting my money! read more
