Crab cake Bennie with a side of avocado
    Malisa R.

Great breakfast spot located in Elmira. We came here on a Sunday and breakfast is offered all day. We were able to pick our seat. It was busy for a Sunday, which is always a good sign. We started off with coffee and OJ. No espresso machine so you're typical cup of joe. For breakfast, we ordered the crab cake bennie, Greek omelette, and corned beef hash. The crab cake Bennie was so good! I ordered a side of avocado too. Looking at other yelp reviews, the crab cake Bennie may have come with hash browns or fresh fruit in the past. My husband ordered the corned beef hash which was so yummy! My mom got the Greek omelette which she loved. The lunch/dinner menu looked so good. Definitely want to come back for the cabbage lasagna and the meatloaf. The dessert menu sounded delicious too. The Guinness chili are cake with Bailey cream was calling our name but it was sold out. Gives us a reason to come back... very soon!

Went to Forx on a blustery night in 2026. Not many people on the roads and not many in the restaurant, but food and service was really good! The husband runs the front of the bar/restaurant and the wife runs the back. We had the pierogis as an app and then I had the meatloaf and the wife had spaghetti and meatballs. All was done really well! And the meatloaf had fresh asparagus as a side! We were undecided about dessert, so the wife came out to explain the desserts - we selected the coconut cream cake and it was really good. I would call this higher end north woods bar food which is a nice option compared to other alternatives.

LOVED Forx!! Little hole in the wall but INCREDIBLE food, felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. Grilled chicken caesar wrap & chips. Wonderful. Fast & friendly service!

We got here after spending some time at Boyne Mountain and trying to find some good diner food. My husband loves this place. They are proud of their menu and everything is homemade. My husband got the special of the day, a prime steak open sandwich, and I got the Walleye. The steak sandwich is excellent, while the Walleye is a bit oily. They have great mashed potatoes, and the chipotle sauce is a hit.

It takes a lot for me to review a restaurant because usually they aren't worth the time and effort. I can almost always walk away saying "I could have made that and probably made it better". Forx changes that! INSANE food. Everything is homemade and you can actually taste the soul of the person cooking. It's not some teenager in the back dumping something into a deep fryer. It is someone with an insane passion for making food the way they would want it to taste. The result is astounding. Great service, very timely, very attentive. Restaurant is cool, low key, not noisy. It's all about the food. Forx serves high end food you'd expect from a much bigger City, in an unassuming rural pass through town. We won't be passing through Elmira ever again without stopping here for this outstanding restaurant. Don't walk, RUN here!

    The best meatloaf ever!

Food was fantastic! Best restaurant experience we've had in a long time. My husband said his meatloaf was the best he's ever had, and my Cobb salad was wonderful. Worth a drive from wherever you are! Service was great, and a really fun atmosphere.

After hitting the Skybridge at Boyne Mountain, we were heading toward Gaylord on M-32. We were NOT looking forward to the same old chain restaurants in town but thought that's all there was ahead. Passing through Elmira, I almost blinked and missed this place. I'd much rather risk my dinner at a local diner than have the same old stuff I could get at Any Other Town, USA. This could have been one of the best dinner choices I've made in a long long time. I believe the owner said they'd only been open since May (2023). It's not a big place, but it's very clean, and very friendly. Within minutes I felt more like a local than an out-of-towner. I ordered myself a Trifecta which is a blend of bison and lamb, topped with bacon. My GF got a pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw and Carolina mustard. We close things out with a slice of Andes chocolate mint cake. Like I said, the place was spotless, including the bathrooms. The prices were what I would expect, and certainly worthwhile. I don't know where they got their recipes from, or if she came up with them on her own, but she certainly has perfected them. My only complaints are that this place is too far from home, and that slice of cake was way too big for the two of us!! I'm definitely stopping by if I'm even remotely in the area.

Forgot to take a picture of the loaded fries before eating! This was $7 on the happy hour menu and DELICIOUS.

The good - the atmosphere is great, the vibe pretty accurately replicating a French bistro. The food (what we did get) was good. Steak frites was awesome. The bad - never has a server failed so miserably. How? 1. Brought the wrong wine, then lied by insisting the house red was in fact a Côtes du Rhône. 2. Forgot two soups, delivered our entrees, said the soups were "coming" and reported "almost here" when we were half done with dinner. 3. Wrong dressing delivered on the salad, then delivered a different dressing with the request for extra. 4. The topper - the manager's comp dessert was either wrong or the pastry chef has never seen a real Basque Cheesecake. The manager was appreciative for the feedback, but the "fix" was to not make us pay for the wine that was wrong or the soup that never came. Not exactly the experience that will make us rush back. I know that staffing "up north" is tough, but this place was full of servers who appeared well in control and efficient. We drew the very short straw. Eat here at your own peril.

The establishment is very small, so it makes sense that it takes a while to get a table. But, it took about 20 minutes for someone to even come take our order, and even then they only came because we flagged them down. Then, a ton of to-go orders were taking priority over the people inside. It took about 2 hours to get our food after we were seated. No shade I get they're doing their best. The only thing that really made our party angry was the fact that it seemed like they were churning out to go orders and not serving the people in the restaurant in a timely manner.

They were crispy, crunchy, overcooked and tasted like paste. I sent them back and overheard the kitchen staff state that they were fine the customer just didn't like them. Please TASTE the food you're serving, I can assure you, it's not fine, it's beyond nasty. Here's a tip, when cooking pancakes they should only be flipped one time. You pour the batter in 1 spot only and it will evenly spread, wait until it bubbles all-over the surface, then flip it. That's it! When you flip it over and over, it removes the light fluffiness and turns it into a crispy taco shell, like the ones you served me. Also, on over easy eggs, the egg yolk is supposed to be runny the whites are not.

We shared everything and still had leftovers. We were literally fighting over the last bite of that cinnamon roll French toast... I lost. But that's okay because I took my butt right back the next day and ordered a full serving all for myself! Now, the salad wasn't my favorite, but I do want to say this. With everything that's been in the news lately about fresh produce and people being cautious because of recent food safety concerns, I was paying close attention. This salad looked freshly prepared not dumped out of a bag which made me feel much better about ordering it. The real star of the show, though, was that Cinnamon Roll French Toast. It was absolutely worth going back for! The people in Gaylord are some of the sweetest you'll ever meet, and the staff here fit right in. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. The restaurant itself is colorful, cozy, and full of charm. I especially loved the giant colorful coffee mugs decorating the outside they're adorable and definitely photo-worthy! One thing to know before you go: they close at 2:00 PM, so make sure you get there before then. If you're looking for a wholesome breakfast spot with generous portions and a welcoming atmosphere, Rise & Dine is definitely a must-try!

We've had brisket at plenty of other places and nothing compares to theirs and it is absolutely the reason we continue coming back. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience doesn't consistently live up to the food. Wait times for food are often very long, and across multiple visits we've found the servers generally aren't very attentive. The other major issue is the price. It's very expensive for the amount of food you actually get, and especially in the current economy, that's hard to overlook. When you're paying that much for a meal, I think it's reasonable to expect not only excellent food, but excellent service and an overall experience that feels worth the price. That's ultimately why I'm torn. The brisket is five-star brisket, but the overall value and service aren't five-star. We'll probably still find ourselves coming back because apparently that brisket has a hold on us, but better service, shorter waits, and pricing that feels more proportional to the portions would make a huge difference.
