I have been calling her for 5 days with no answer or return call. I have been working individually helping the homeless for 5 years so I totally understand . I have many connections which I am happy to share. I have shared with making it happen my connection for all the animal supplies they would ever need, I also turned them on to a great connection for shoes. Since I gave them the shoe connection they have stopped returning any of my calls. I always get clothing donations that I would love to share with Making it Happen but for some reason they prefer not to communicate. I truly hope that I did not upset you by helping your organization, I can only figure that you guys have all the help and donations you could ever need. The hardest thing for me not many can guide you or inform you the people to take you to temporary housing and then permanent housing. Majority of people are not aware of the process it is not instant and takes time for myself and my brother it's almost a year and finding out people discriminate on the homeless whether it's a racist issue or stereo types it is sad we need kindness forward to try to make a little impact of a smile and saying good morning no one is better than other but the true kindness of the heart is priceless. It's located near the…read moreintersection of Pasadena Ave & California Blvd. Parking can be a little difficult since it's all street parking, but if they allow you to park in their driveway, then that's a win for you. My team dedicated a whole morning to cook a meal for the young patients here and their mothers. We decided to go with a Mexican meal because most of the families were Hispanic. We cooked a variety of enchiladas, with sides of rice and beans. And for dessert was a healthy fruit salad that we chopped up by ourselves. They provided us with the kitchen space and tools to do the cooking. Majority of the cooking tools were worn out, so next time I definitely want to donate some new ones to them. There was a kitchen in the front house and a back house, but both were very small. I suggest having a maximum of 6 people in each kitchen at a time, or it will get a little compact and chaotic. We had to take turns because we had a total of 25 people. During our downtime, we got to enjoy the property and interact with the families. I love what the Ronald McDonald House is doing for these families. It brings me absolute joy to volunteer and provide any aid that I can to our community. Our workplace is making this a once a month activity, but I definitely see myself coming back more often than that.

They need money, time, efforts or anything else you can give to help. The house shelters families whose kids are sick and receiving treatment at the hospital across the street. It helps families be near their children as they have operations, skin grafts, appendages mended, or cancer treated. Motel, hotels and inns within the area are neither cheap or as close. Call and see if you can fill a need. Run in one of their marathons.. anything.

Their team is very supportive and they help you through every step of the process. Once certified and placed with a child they are there to help basically 24/7 with resources and strategies. They have parties for them and charge them $15 -$20 to go to these parties or events and give them very small portions of food. They do not notify families when something happens to their loved ones while in their care. The building is dirty due to no janitorial team. please if you love your family take this in consideration.

I used to go to Food on Foot for many years. Everything was great with the food part and most of…read morethe volunteers(always one bad apple in a bunch). But the clothes on the ground were absolutely degrading and uncivilized. Like a slap in the face for any down and out person or anyone for that matter. Who picks up anything up off the ground unless it's trash to throw away. And some of the clothes were very beautiful. Many are seniors and or disabled and can't bend down either. I sure hope they did something about that clothing, shoes, etc. Tables would solve the problem. So depressing to experience a line of food, smiles and hope just to come to the end of the line to see clothes on the ground reminding people how bad it really is(some go back to tents on the ground, etc). Lines and the wait is very long so if you can't stand for long periods(like myself) - bring a rollator walker to sit on.

I went on Google and started doing some research when I came across Food on Foot. Wow. Before I even signed up, I knew that this was something to look forward to. This organization not only gives food to the homeless, but they really work with them to help them with housing and finding jobs. We even got to hear from former people who used to be homeless--they are called 'Graduates'. Their stories and their energy prove that this is such an impactful organization and everyone deserves to know about it and help out. It is $20 to donate, but you actually can see where your money is going. The staff were very informative and friendly. I had an amazing first experience and I will be volunteering a lot more often with Food on Foot.

You wash dishes and the meals are delicious. The meals are made with whatever donations came in that week! Volunteering is flexible and can be done once a month!
