What a gem, went with a friend to do some errands and then came a sweet tooth craving. He shows me this place and all I needed to see was the Oreo sunday parfait. Boomsausce this thing was good! The grill food smelled pretty good too. Only sucked that it was cash only, and no ATM, this can very lucratively be solved by the owner if a fee for transaction ATM gets installed like at stripclubs and Mexican food joints. read more

Great food. Great desserts. Awesome owners. I'm biased because it's in the neighborhood I grew up in and still live in. I really hope they never close. Some of their customers are down right rude and disgusting...well that's what this neighborhood has turned into anyway. For those of you seeking a homogenized fast food experience go to McDonald's. For those of you wanting a fresh, friendly and definitely greasy fast food experience AND a trip back in time this is definitely the place. I recommend a Double Old Fashioned with double cheese, large fries and a milkshake. It's about $10 and I always leave a tip. When I saw this place I was scared to get food here but it actually was really good. I had a burger fry's and shake that I enjoyed more then in-n-out burger. I used to go to a Foster's Freeze back in Northern California when I was a youngster, having taken a wrong turn and finding this gem was destiny. i've only come here for the ice cream and it never disappoints and the food always looks so delicious and tempting! my most recent visit here i was not very impressed :// the asian woman working behind the counter was very rude and unprofessional... my dad ordered a banana split and mistakingly thought you had to choose 3 ice creams and she snapped at him telling him that he had to choose 3 toppings but she was very rude about it and it made us uncomfortable... my mom and i both ordered vanilla dipped cones but the guy who made our order accidentally forgot to dip one of them in the chocolate so my mom asked them to fix it but it was no big deal... the asian lady got mad that the guy messed up the order so she hit him really hard in the back... they both laughed about it but you could tell the guy was embarrassed... it was a really weird experience although the ice cream and fries were really good! read more

I've been going to the same Fosters Freeze for 30+ years. The location is at 1069 Elkelton Blvd., in Spring Valley, CA, 91977. The restaurant has had the same owners for about the same number of years that I've been going to eat with my family. Recently, they've hired new people. They are not newly hired but are new in a sense that they are not the regular people I'm used to seeing. I've had a less than stellar experience when ordering food with a man that works at the restaurant. He appears to be Caucasian or Hispanic, with a shaved head, a really bad attitude and may be around 30-40 years old. He's always really rude in his responses. I've actually witnessed him verbally fighting with other employees while they are cooking on the grill, in front of customers. I've heard him talk down to customers. It makes the situation very awkward, unpleasant and uncomfortable. I've always enjoyed knowing the employees (family) that works at this location and the food was always great. They know my entire family, even my parents. All of us have been going there for years. I've decide I will no longer be visiting this location because of the employee I've described. I've heard others complain about this man. The food is no longer as good as it used to be or perhaps it just has to do with this one person. I don't know if the owners realize how much of a negative impact this one employee is having on the restaurant. Everyone in my family that eats at Fosters Freeze, as often as we do, have noticed the same and have also decided to no longer eat there until this man is fired/removed/replaced/disciplined/trained properly/anger management. The nice thing is that there are a lot of windows so I can see from the street if that employee is there. So if I don't see him, and I'm hungry, I'll go in and order. I know over time places inherit new employees/owners but if they are anything like this guy - they might as well throw their money away because this employee will make them lose their loyal customer base that has taken years to build. He's slowly tearing it all down. I went to order today 03/31/2012, to give this guy another chance, and left after he was so rude I wanted to punch him. I didn't order anything and went to Jack in the Box. read more
