Went to fosters for some covid friendly outdoor dining, though when we arrived , they told us that they had released our reservation, candidly we were 5 minutes late, trying to sort parking, though I feel a 5 to 10 minute grace period could've been warranted. We waited 25 minutes patiently thereafter for another table to open, my wife had the fish and chips that were devoid of any real flavor, and I had the steak house burger that was overcooked and not properly seasoned. Perhaps we ordered incorrectly , oh and the server spilled ketchup on my wife's dress. Not an ideal start to a honeymoon but hey, the weather was cooperative. read more

It was good that I went here twice for business meetings. Only place that can hold large groups of people with not too much wait time. It is located int he Kings' Shops Waikoloa across from the Marriott. The food was pretty good. I had the chicken and ribs combo which was plenty of food. It is served with a side of fries. They served really good burgers too. Another time I had the gumbo soup. It was tasty but lack not full New Orleans style. The desserts were a big hit. From the sherbert, lava cake, monkey bread, and cheesecake, you could not go wrong. I do recommend if you want some some Cajun infused food on Kona. read more

THIS PLACE IS AN EXTREMELY OVER PRICED TOURIST TRAP AND IS NOT GOOD. Bad, lunch cafeteria-esque food. little flavor, undercooked rice, very shoddy frying of chicken, etc.. we ordered 2 salads because the fried goat cheese on top sounded good, and when we got them there was no cheese. When our waitress returned, we asked why there wasn't any cheese, and she said it was 'burned in the fryer' with no apology, before giving us a cold plate of the curds, which made us think she just forgot. Went here for lunch with family. Was impressed by how clean it was, many places in area are not that way.we ordered fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, both very yummy. I had tomato bisque soup and grilled cheese, the soup was very tasty and the grilled cheese with caramelized onions awesome. My wife had Thai salad and found it to be satisfying for a lunch items. I have now been to both FOSTER's kitchen. They have real talented chefs here. The food is great, made from scratch and you can tell that there is passion behind the recipes. We visited the island for seven days and this is the best food we had. I'm sure there's other great places here, but this is one worth experiencing. The drinks were really good as well. read more

A bit disappointed in this place. The drinks were fantastic, the ribs were great, and the calamari was amazing. However, the steak was disappointing. We ordered medium rare, but it was barely rare, and in some places, it was still cold - so, uneven cooking of the steak. We also noticed that this place loves to try to make their food look fancy by using the same two ingredients - pesto and leafy garnish - even when it's not even necessary (i.e, they rimmed my husband's plate of ribs with pesto). We had a reservation for outdoors. She wanted to put us outside in the front instead of by the lake. When we said we did not want to hear the music from the other bar we asked for a seat by the window. The restaurant was empty inside. She said we couldn't because tables were all reserved. Ironically we ended up getting sat by the waiter at the window and we were here an hour with ABSOLUTELY NO ONE taking any of the four tables by the window. Poor first impression. Ordered take out and were disappointed with cold food (we drove to pick it up even though the place we're staying is a short walk, hoping it would be hot and fresh when we got to eat), and wrong/missing items. The fish burger was still somewhat good, despite having no sauce, and having to pick off the onions we asked to not have on it. Can't review the slaw as we never got it. This is our 2nd time here in 2 days and we loved our experience the first time so we had to come back before we leave back for home. I accidentally made reservations for the Kona location and Kaylee the hostess was so incredibly sweet she squeezed us in and could not have been more friendly! You guys should consider yourselves lucky to have someone like her working for your company! The waiter (Mark) was also awesome! Greeted us promptly and was friendly and accommodating:) checked in on us often and was one of the best servers we have ever had ...food was outstanding as always! Great location in the Kings Market with lots of parking so easy to get to. We were vacationing with 3 generations of family so finding a place that was suitable for everyone was difficult. Fosters Kitchen was perfect! Broad selection of menu choices for both adults and kids, reasonably priced, and the views of the water were stunning. Service was very friendly and attentive. This is my first review. I've never written a review before but I had to share about my experience because there was absolutely nothing redeeming about it. I paid $28 for a fish sandwich that had no sauce, no seasoning and was bland and dry. There was no "homemade" tartar sauce as listed on the menu. This was the same for the sides- I've never had such tasteless mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. Absolutely no seasoning- the veggies weren't even cooked so I don't know how they can call them sautéed. So disappointed. read more

Vegetarian options were a great grilled cheese and tomato bisque (verified vegetarian!), Fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, and a lilikoi bbq beyond burger. Everything was delicious! Nice local twists to the menu items. As a local, I was happy to see a local restaurant with delicious food. This seemed to be the best option of the restaurants in the area, but we were disappointed. Our food came out extremely quickly but it was cold. We had our server heat it up and that made a huge difference. The pork chops were dry and the ribs we just ok. The best thing we had was the Cajun shrimp pasta. We had a company luncheon here for 34 people, and it was fantastic. As soon as I walked into the restaurant 10 minutes prior to our scheduled time, I could see they had already allowed our employees to start getting seated and get them water or soda. The servers were right there and showed me where our tables were, and they introduced me to Chris who was leading the luncheon for us. I was so worried, but everything came out quickly, correctly, efficiently, and really delicious! I received a lot of great feedback from the employees on how much they enjoyed the food and experience. The employees who ordered Pork Chops said that they were too salty (which I think was the batter) while everyone raved about the pork ribs. Much mahalo to the Foster's staff...You all are awesome! Go elsewhere.... Even if there is a wait. I ordered the fish of the day, Opah, which is supposed to be light, flakey, and moist, it was thin, over cooked and dry. Sent it back and they redid it, still not good, but I ate it (6.3 out of 10). Mediocre at best. The chicken pasta was bland and flavorless. The worst part was the banana puffed pastry desert. The flavor profile was acceptable. However, the puffed pastry, which is supposed to be light and flaky was nearly impossible to cut, even with a steak knife. Should have been served with a chainsaw to cut it. It took a long time to come out, I think they overcooked them heck out of it and tried to cover it up by over-saucing it. I give it two stars because they have a decent puff pastry app (where they cooked the pastry properly) and the NY steak was good. read more

Omg this place is amazing!!!! This is the second time we have come here and we absolutely LOVE IT! This time we came on our honeymoon and we had Amber as our server. I believe that was her name? She was tall, brown hair a large tattoo on her arm and really really pretty! She was absolutely FANTASTIC! Best server ever! Absolutely perfect and knowledgeable and friendly and just all around amazing! The food is incredible! Comes out super fast and it's beautiful on the plate! It's delicious and generously portioned! I ate every bite and I never do as I'm just not a big eater. I was today! It was so good I couldn't help myself! The bartenders Ashley and John were absolutely amazing also!!!! They were Super friendly and knowledgeable as well! They were absolutely amazing! I have to recommend the lychee martini! It looks kind of weird at first but PLEASE FOSTERS NEVER CHANGE A THING! That has become my all time favorite martini! The flavor hits every taste bud! It's like juice but it's def not. Stand-out dining experience! We ordered the seafood puff pastry, stuffed mushrooms, paniolo salad and Cajun salad, ahi tuna salad, primavera, gumbo, and truffle fries and they were all delicious! Oscar provided incredible service.
