Foster's is fusion cuisine at its best. Their menu is a blend of southern comfort food and Hawaiian. We started with the pimento cheese and cajun dip with crostini. My husband was immediately plotting returning during happy hour to enjoy this dish for a second time in one day. It's seriously so good. The components come separate, so you're seeing my version of the perfectly constructed bite in this picture. My husband ordered the fish and chips. It was an elevated take on a classic dish. The fries are homestyle and delicious, served with homemade ketchup. I ordered a garden salad (available regular and smaller) and I added grilled chicken (also available with blackened chicken and shrimp). I had to get a salad because I saw the chili macadamia nut Thai vinaigrette. It was everything I imagined and more. The food was fast and service was friendly. Locking for some mainland home style cooking? This is for you. You can get chicken pretty much anyway you want it and other dishes too. Nice sides add to any meal and many unique sauces to choose from. We chose to do take out because they would not take a reservation by hone but rather used something called wait list which despite repeated attempts did not work to put me in a wait list. It was an irritating experience from a service perspective -especially when I kindly asked to be waitlisted. So I should reduce my star by 1 due to service. read more

We came here just because Guy Ferrari came here with Diners, Drive ins and Dines. I ate the same dish Guy recommended and it truly was incredible. I got the Stuffed chicken. Also the bruschetta. Unbelievable. Fresh! Flavorful! Just incredible. It was so good that we said we're coming back tonight to try other dishes. You won't regret it going here! Logan was our waiter- very, very good. We live here so we've been to this place dozens great experiences here. So this isn't a reflection of the restaurant. This is because Friday 9/24 6:30,,, this bartender suuuucks. Sat at the first two chairs that were open. He tells me I have to sit all the way at the other end of the bar. Which sucks because he never goes to the other end of the bar. Took over 10 mins just to get one drink,,,, and then I never see the guy again. 45 mins later my drink is gone, he never comes back to see if I want food or maybe another drink. I have to go to the other end of the bar to ask for a check, which I never get. I have to flag down random waiter to pay my bill? That bartender suuuuucks. No tip for that asshole. read more

Almost didn't go here because of some of the reviews but gave it a chance and very happy we did. Went here in a large party of 12 with 6 adults and 6 children ranging In age from 6 to 13. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and worked together to get our order out. The food was excellent and the prices fair for what we ordered. I would definitely come here again. This was our second visit to Fosters. Earlier in the week prior to a rain storm the food and service were excellent. This visit the food didn't click. I had the identical meal but it was without taste, or flavor. My wife's salad was supposed to be mixed greens and was all iceberg. The positive was the hustle of the female front of house or kitchen supervisor. She was busy and committed which was in total contrast to what appeared to be the male front of house supervisor who spent long periods of time propped up near the bar slurping water or chatting to the hostess staff. First things first I'll say the waiter was very nice and accommodating. I don't remember his name tall Caucasian guy with tattoos. I ordered fish tacos specifically without dairy (my body can't handle it) I told him no sour cream and no cheese, It was loud in there so I don't think he heard me right. He brought out my tacos and they had sour cream I wasn't going to say anything about it but my fiancé asked if he could correct it and he apologized for his mistake, he brought the tacos out and half way through my second I spotted cheese melted under everything that was on the taco.. Since about an hour after I left my stomach has been insanely sore and I'm having food poisoning symptoms. I'm wrecked. Other than that the food and atmosphere were great. I recommend dining here but if you have any food aversions, make sure they understand what you mean when you say you can't eat something. read more

Food was okay, there are definitely tastier places in the area. The menu is large, perhaps they should scale down and perfect a select few dishes. Service was... almost terrible. With a party of 7, it seemed as if they were unsure if they could seat us, even though the place was empty. This is understandable, maybe they were understaffed. We know practically everywhere is understaffed currently... but our waitress was blatantly rude. Ordered kids meals for 2 kids in the group, were charged for an adult meal for one of them. We didn't receive a few of our party's beverages until after we had finished eating. There was never an apology or even admission that a mistake was made. Service was slow and unfriendly. Worse yet, we asked for a manager, but the manager never showed their face. Overall, very disappointing. Of course, we're on vacation so it's moot to say that we won't be going back to this establishment soon. Hopefully, this just helps other travelers be wary. I had such a good experience at Foster's for lunch with my girlfriends previously, that I thought I would bring my husband for an early dinner last Saturday. The service was just as good and the view of the lake was just as pleasant. Unfortunately, the fish tacos, with highly-seasoned fish, were still rather bland, as were the molten lava cake and Tahitian ice cream. The tacos could have used some cheese or a flavorful sauce. I can recommend the bruschetta with a balsamic reduction which was very tasty and came with five pieces. The portions were generous and there was no trouble being seated promptly at about 5pm. I will return for the pizza to give it one more chance, as that looked delicious. read more

I was eager to try Foster's. I live nearby but hadn't made it before. However, I'm sorry I finally did and won't go back. Ordered fish and chips and chicken tenders with fries. The fish and chicken were ok. Nothing fantastic but decent. However the French fries were the worst and inedible. I think they made a big batch in the morning and then throughout the day they just keep refrying the same ones to heat them up. Greasy, soggy and over cooked. They advertise being so fresh but what they are serving is far from it. 7/21 update: Jeff - I appreciate your reply to my review. My order was a take out order and unfortunately my daughter did not check it before she brought it home. The fries definitely weren't close to fresh. Could have even been leftover from the prior day. Clearly not good or fresh and should not have been served/boxed in the first place. Fosters has become a regular hangout for my husband and me. Food is delicious and the staff are all fantastic. We always sit at the bar, and Deb is our fave. There's no drink she doesn't know how to make, and even when the place is mobbed she manages to keep everyone served and happy. The whole staff, in fact, keep the place humming and keep cool heads...even with snarky "travelers" who don't know the meaning of Aloha. read more

If you end up here The Hibiscus Heat Cocktail was fabulous. But everything else we ordered made this meal the worse meal we had on the island. We should have just eaten at the food court in the mall. The acoustics in the place are awful, it's extremely loud and hard to hold a conversation if there are any parties who are lively. We ordered a grilled Fresh catch and The Buffalo crispy chicken sandwiches. Both of were extremely dry on oversized bun. The chicken could have fit on 1/3 of the bun, and the fish tasted like something out of a frozen food bag. But it was so dry I could tell the difference. I think McDonalds might have offered a better sandwich for both and I don't think eat at McDonald's! Huge pieces of bread no condiments and the meat and fish were just so dry. The place was overpriced and staff was a bit stiff. We had to wait in the middle of the restaurant to be seated while the Hostess stopped to gossip with another staff member before seating us. We came here on recommendations from Lonely Plant and has made me question their recommendations. This is an overpriced restaurant that might be good if you are craving southern homeland cooking.. but def not worth the price, the lack of ambiance and overall quality. We stopped in the other night around 7 and asked for a table for four. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we said "no". She then said "we have no tables" even though the place was empty. I asked if we could be added to the waitlist and she said "no, you cannot eat here. We are not taking any more." Even though they were empty. She was very rude. We were very pleased with the service and the food. We had the steak and shrimp which was cooked perfect. Fish tacos were great. My son had the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and loved it. I had the Pasta with pesto and chicken and enjoyed. I would have liked a little more pesto but nice and creamy. My grandson had the cheesy grits and shrimp and devoured it. Foster's Kitchen's mission is to provide a high-quality experience in a more casual setting, and I'd say they succeeded. The staff at the front almost seemed too excited to show how committed they were to ensure we felt welcomed. The guy who showed us to our table pointed out both the Christmas tree and ornaments hanging from the strands of lights, and during dinner, the manager came to check on us. I appreciated the more local feeling of this restaurant, and their efforts to use local ingredients. The seafood puff pastry was great! We were advised that it takes about 15-20 mins since they are made to order, and they were definitely worth the wait. Four mini puffs came in a hot dish (don't touch, it came right out of the oven, which makes it easy to share. The seared ahi in the ahi salad was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh, not frozen. The tomato bisque was creamy and perfect with a grilled cheese. Fun fact: no cream was used in the making of the soup. Overall, highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice dinner, but you don't feel like changing into something fancy. You won't feel out of place in shorts and slippers. read more
