Three stars because I do plan on giving them another shot. Had reservations at 7:30, arrived on the dot and was seated promptly upon arrival. We put in our order within 10-15 minutes and during this time had two other tables that were sat near us-- a couple and a family of 3 with a child. It took one hour for even just our single calamari appetizer to come to the table, while we watched the other two tables get served the same appetizers ahead of us, AND the family received their kids pizza before our own kids even though we ordered ahead of them. Within the hour, our youngest was getting antsy. She was hungry and tired of waiting. My husband took her out for a walk and came back right after we were served our appetizer. Another 10 minutes and we were told for the second time that our meal was on the way.... I decided to go to Whalers general store to grab a snack for my kids to hold them off. By the time I purchased something from there, my husband had met me outside and said we were leaving. I guess while I was gone, he waited for our waitress to let her know we couldn't wait any longer. He insisted we paid for our meal, even the ones we didn't receive, and she, kindly, would not allow him to pay but instead insisted that we came back to try them again. Maybe the kitchen was short handed or the entire floor was in the weeds. Whatever the reason, I would have been okay and more patient had at least our children's meals came out to keep them happy. It was very frustrating seeing other tables similar orders come out way ahead of our own. I could tell by the faces of a couple other tables who sat there empty handed even while we were walked to our own table, that they were having similar issues. Our waitress was very sweet though, and did not have to offer what we ate for free. Because of her, I would give this place one more shot maybe in another month or two. I ordered the Cajun Pasta and my husband ordered the Candied Chicken Burger. We ordered the kids Mac n cheese for the baby and my oldest ordered the flat bread pepperoni pizza. FK was the best dining experience we had while on the island. We were able to make reservations for our family and had no problems being seated once we arrived. I had the shrimp and grits and bowl of gumbo which was AMAZING! Surprisingly my kids enjoyed their meal (which they hardly ever do so Kudo's). The cherry on the dining experience were the chocolate cookies and ice cream. Our waitress was great, very attentive and personable. The amount of food you get for the price is awful. My boyfriend was finished with his country fried chicken in 5 minutes the portion was so small. The service was pretty inattentive. We tipped our server 10% and handed him back his payment device and he just walked away without saying thank you or have a good night. Didn't even make it through the door. Like some other reviews on here; my wife called to see if they could accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids at 5:00 pm on a Tuesday. The host told us "no." Not a let me see how I can help, not a come back in 30 minutes. Just "no." And yet, when we went to A Bay's Island Grill (where we were welcomed and quickly accommodated), I watched from their patio as the patio was sat with a single four-top and no one else. Nearly empty. There was no line of people, no steady stream of traffic going into the restaurant. And when we left, a single server was standing outside on the patio bored. Foster's kitchen waikoloa amazing customer service. But the alcoholic drinks didn't taste as well made as it should be. I had ordered the Steak house pasta that I always order at the Foster's Kitchen Kailua-Kona; this was my first time eating at the waikoloa location. So my steakhouse pasta instead of the sauce being nice thick and creamy it was so watery like soup the steak look like it was a little over cooked. I ordered a whiskey sour and it was probably the worst cocktail I have ever been served. "Watered-down" would be a compliment. I blame myself for not immediately sending it back to the bar. My son's cheeseburger was overcooked and tough. My Szechuan Ahi Tuna Salad was a joke. I have no idea why they would call a salad Szechuan when it's just a piece of undercooked tuna on a bed of Romaine. Landed here on accident - set out for another place that had a two-hour wait when we arrived, so we looked for options and availability. So glad Foster's won out. We had a sarcastic and fun waitress and a delicious meal, both of which I would come back for. We tried the mushrooms, calamari and wings for appetizers. The wings were spicy but way yummier with the Gorgonzola sauce. The calamari isn't breaded, but a delicious taste for those that like unbreaded squid. Our meals consisted of pasta, ribs, burger, lamb chops and ribeye and no one was disappointed. All three pasta dishes took home doggy bags. It was a wonderful dinner and a great atmosphere outside. I'll start by saying we have tree nut, peanut and shellfish allergies in the family. With that in mind, every aspect of the experience was great. The person who took the reservation noted our allergies. The person who greeted us at the restaurant a month later immediately acknowledged our allergies and let us know she had already alerted the kitchen. Our server, Paulina, was both friendly and professional while also both efficient and attentive. The botanical cocktail, goat cheese bruschetta and pork chops were the standouts of the evening. I thought the Lava Fliw drink was tasty that my husbanded ordered, but he was not a fan and later ordered a local porter. We also had gumbo soup which had good flavor and fish and chips--again not a favorite because although the fish was real good the dry cornmeal on the outside was not even a breading--just seasoned cornmeal.
