Just can't show enough appreciation to the entire staff that worked the day we came in... unfortunately our dining experience started off pretty crazy and had unexpected circumstances upon entering their establishment. The professionalism and compassion that we were shown by the manager, Jazlyn(sorry for misspelling), to the entire kitchen staff to out server Lisa to the hostess should absolutely be commended by the owners. They really made us feel like ohana by making us feel secure to continue to dine in even after the incident. But you can order food at the bar (which was empty) or at a table, then just ask for the check and a couple 'to go' boxes with your order . . . Which wastes WAY more of everyone's time. My family of four went there last night. We had to wait well over an hour to be seated so just keep that in mind. (This wasn't a problem as we expected a wait on a Saturday night). My issue was when we were finally seated it took over 30 minutes for a waiter to come to us. Actually, my husband had to go tell someone so we could actually get service. There were many parties that came after us that got service and were able to place their orders ahead of us. Once we finally got to place our orders our waitress knew about our situation but nothing was really done to rectify the situation. (It would have been nice to ask the kitchen to prioritize our orders since we were technically there first and it wasn't our fault no one came to our table). It took a long while for the food to come. The food was just ok. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. I understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes are made but when there is nothing done to rectify the mistake that's when it's a problem. Disappointing - We went to FK based of the recommendation of the valet desk at our hotel. We walked in around 730 on a Wednesday evening and were sat within a couple minutes. It took over 10min for our waitress to even acknowledge us and tell us she would be right with us. She came over with waters and never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered the half size grilled chicken Ceasar the stuffed mushroom, small bites 6oz steak medium well w/ Cajun fries and a kids grilled cheese w/ a Ceasar salad. The side Ceasar never came. The steak was like cardboard no flavor not even salt or pepper. It tasted like it was thrown on the grill over cooked and put on a plate w/cold flavorless Cajun fries. The stuffed mushrooms were okay. The kids grilled cheese was good however never received salad even after waitress apologized and said she would get it. I had to get up from my table to go track her down after she spent several minutes at least 7, chatting with another table never checking back in on us. When I met her at the food line I asked for A1 sauce butter salt pepper anything to flavor the steak. I took the A1 back to the table myself to find it was empty. She said she'd bring over salt pepper and our salad. It did not come. So I got back up and went and got the salt and pepper myself, still no side salad. The grilled chicken salad was the smallest I've ever seen (size of a average cereal bowl). From a business owner to another. There are several things I would take a look at. Seems like lack of training or supervision. Food quality issues means kitchen staff (something is not working) server may also need some tips on equal customer service to their tables and not letting a set of customers monopolies their time. Last thing after reading other reviews it is very clear you have a couple glitches. Lastly owner issue, portions it is not okay to charge $14 for a cereal size bowl grilled chicken Ceasar. You get one star for location and nicely printed menus. The rest of this experience was a waist of time. read more

The drinks were delicious, the calamari appetizer was unusual but amazing, and hubby said his shrimp and grits were some of the best he's had (and he spent several months in the Carolinas!). We were very hungry arriving from a flight. We arrived at 7:15pm and got seated right away, however it all went downhill afterwards. When ordering, the waitress informed us that they were out of many items (why not tell people when they first sit down?!!). We ordered at 7:30 and the (terrible) food arrived at 8:45. I ordered Carolina pork and there was no hint of vinegar in the bbq and 1/2 the pork was fat grissle. I gagged when I took a bite. The mashed potatoes were super bland. Daughter's Mac and cheese just tasted like buttered noodles and son's pizza crust was awful-so bland. No salt whatsoever or flavorings. Worst experience I've ever had between service and food quality. Waitress said she'd take off my meal from bill but then did not until we brought it to her attention. Don't eat here until they hire a new chef!!!! We unfortunately still left hungry and dissatisfied after paying $80 for an awful meal. read more

The atmosphere and waitress was awesome at waikoloa village.. She was professional, kind, and attentive. The restaurant wasn't busy on the evening of 11/24./19. Took 50 minutes to get a flatbread pizza. Appetizer came 10 minutes after that. The food was good. The waitress apologized about the wait. We just shrugged it off and decided to have a nice evening while we waited. The manager came to speak to us about the long delay on our food. This guy is a blowhole! Seriously! Very unprofessional to his staff and guests. Told us there was nothing he could do about the delay because he didn't know how to fix iPads for the orders and it wasn't his fault. He pointed fingers at everyone else. No apologies, just left our table. A professional response would have been appreciated. read more

I'm glad to see a manager is reading these reviews because I want this to be productive. My wife and I used to enjoy coming here pre-covid. I've only been here a few times in 2021 and 2022 but the experience has been consistent. All of our food has been really overcooked and dry. I won't take a chance on the crispy chicken sandwich again, it was so charred the last two times. Our favorite item used to be the BBQ chicken flatbread but on our last visit it too was burnt. I walked by a server who was eating one on her break and it looked just as blackened and dry as ours did. We got hush puppies and I struggled to pierce them with a fork or even cut them with a steak knife. We choked down a couple but didn't enjoy them at all. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen but I'm sure it can be fixed and I hope that it is soon. The bartenders and servers have always been friendly and pleasant. We look forward to eventually coming back on a regular basis for our flatbread when things get better. read more

This is our first time to visit Foster's Kitchen in Waikoloa. While there is no doubt the good at the Kona restaurant is better, the food was good. The appetizers were very tasty. I had the fried chicken because I remember their chicken to be juicy. However, it was rather dry. The greens were also not as delicious as the Kona site. After 2 weeks on the island and dining out almost every meal, Logan's service here was phenomenal. We had great experiences at all the restaurants we tried. No complaints. But he was by far the best and most attentive waiter/server we had. Never an empty refill or plate on our table and all of his recommended dishes were spot on. So where do I start? First, we have to wait 15 min for a table at 8 pm. We finally get seated and 1/2 the restaurant is empty. So why did we have to wait like the restaurant was full? Then we tell the waiter how we came to know about Foster's from Food Network Triple D and we order 3 dishes. The ono fish tacos, the ono fish and chips and the $32 risotto with ono. Fish tacos are fine. Not a lot of flavor due to the abundance of raw cabbage. The fish from the fish and chips were dry and over cooked. The worst meal was the ono with mushroom risotto. For $32 - the dish was bland, under seasoned, watery mushy arborio mess. At one point when the waiter asked us how our meal was, I had to tell him how under-seasoned the risotto was. I also asked him to tell the chef it needed salt. So the waiter goes back to tell the chef and comes back to tell me the chef agreed it was under seasoned. No manager, no apology and no comp or willingness of the chef to make it right for us. I was planning to come back for the stuffed chicken since we're staying in Waikoloa for a week but no thanks. For people who do watch the DDD show, do yourself a favor and don't bother to come here unless you want to blow over $100 for a lackluster meal and a disappointing experience. read more

Foster's has the island spirit. There is no rushing diner's out to make room for the next. There's also nothing rushed about the food prep, though the meals are remarkably well prepared and scrumptious and make it to the table with little delay. We've eaten here on many of our island adventures, and this restaurant is about as sure a thing as you'll get. They have a rich assortment of dishes, drinks and desserts that should satisfy most anyone. Even though I am an aspiring Vegan, there are options here that are Vegan adjacent enough to make me and my tummy happy. It ain't a mainland vibe, and that's part of what makes it so enjoyable. Another worker was on top of water refills, clearing dishes and full of information about must see and do on the island. He even went out of his way to make us a list of places to go. Place is a tourist trap. Looked busy and fun from the outside, but the other negative reviews are correct. Had the shrimp and grits, no flavor, place was under staffed although I will say our bartender server did work very hard and they do make a good specialty cocktail I thought. We were so excited that we were able to secure a table quickly utilizing the wait list. When we arrived we immediately were seated. We ordered our drinks. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri- it tasted nothing like a daiquiri- more like a strawberry lemonade, it was tart. The waiter took back the drink to add another shot of rum. Still bad. Ordered appetizer, calamari- it came out cold. I question if it was even cooked. Waited over an hour to get food. We saw couples around us who arrived after us had their meals and even finished before we were even served. We were completed ignored since the delivery of the appetizer. When the food was delivered it was cold. I could literally pick up a ball of rice with my hand. Incidentally I was supposed to have garlic mashed potatoes- that was stated on the menu. Wasn't told of the substitution. Needless to stay that was the straw that broke the camel's back. We literally walked out. Totally unacceptable. The experience was horrendous for what was to be a birthday celebration. So let down. read more
