Ordered fish and chips entree to go. Was asked what side we wanted. We said no side was mentioned on the menu. She listed sides, so we chose sautéed veggies. Got home to find the fish and chips ( fish, coleslaw and fries as described on menu) was fish and veggies! No fries or slaw. Called them and they did not understand the problem. We said, for example, if I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and you said what side and we selected veggies, would they then omit the meatballs??? They did not understand the problem, no apologies. Oscar provided my husband and I with excellent service tonight at dinner. He quickly met us at table after being seated asking for our drink orders. When I explained I had eating restrictions he was incredibly accommodating. My husband wanted the gumbo but a fresh pot wasn't quite done, he checked on it personally and came back immediately to let us know it was ready. The order was completed quickly AND accurately. Four of us agreed on 3 stars. Food was ok. Not bad but not great. We heard later that their specialty is southern comfort food, so try something like the fried pork chop. We n the bright side, we really liked the singer! Good songs, nice voice and guitar. read more

Love this place. We liked it so much we went 2 nights in a row, our last meal before heading home. The food is great, servers are knowledgeable and attentive. Great atmosphere. Get the lava cake, it's worth it. We also have a child with a severe dairy allergy, and they did such a fantastic job handling it. Love!!! read more

If you're looking for great tasting food that feels like a non-tourist trap, eat here!! It's located in King's shops & we felt like we were at home near Hawaii Kai/Koko Marina. It's right off the water. We didn't have reservations--walked right in, seated promptly. My hubby & I shared pizza & a burger. Both were great, just know the fries are cajun seasoned; similar to "jerk" fries yet kinda salty. Our server Paulina was awesome & very personable. She recommended a few items on the menu & was attentive (& not overly). I really appreciate servers like Paulina who offer menu insight from the moment you're seated...it builds rapport, as opposed to being a nonchalant order taker going through the motions. Especially after our long drive back from Hilo...we simply wanted a quick bite & someone with a smile. She definitely created a warm welcome & set the bar. Very disappointed. We had high hopes for fosters kitchen since we have been to the one in kona but the one in Waikoloa was terrible. The wait was ridiculously long. I had the porky pig burger which was tough with minimal flavor besides the bbq sauce they put on top. The crispy fried onions that went on top was not crispy at all and seemed stale. I got the Cajun fries on the side which was also stale and cold. French fries are the worst when they are cold. My family got the steak burger which they also said was not good. And their fries were cold as well. We got the lemonade which was too potent and tasted like limeade instead. Altogether it wasn't a great first experience and if we go back (which won't be soon) we are hoping for a better experience. read more

Good but never great typical bar and grill eatery. You'll find that many of their staples are pre-cooked and then "fired" when ordered. Such was the case of our burger dish that could not be made rare or medium rare. Service was friendly and professional and that was a plus. Let's say they swing, but often miss, and that lowers their average to just good, but predictable. read more

Everything was great except for the food. ALL of it from fish to meat was overcooked and bland. It's the type of meal I'd expect for free on a plane. I had never asked for salt at a restaurant before . Drinks are great though and very good service combined with awesome views and coy fish. Hubby and I just ate here for dinner. Being July 4, the restaurant was very busy. I ordered fish and chips and didn't care for the fish and the fries were cold. However, the service was outstanding! The manager seemed quite concerned and had fresh fries made and sent me a drink to appease me. The service was so great, it made up for the food, which was good. I just didn't care for the preparation and they bent over backwards to make me happy. Our waiter, Poke, was excellent. Stopped in after a round of golf and holy cow what a find! Hidden gem of a place with fresh food made from scratch. The grilled calamari will make you sad for the poor calamari at other restaurants that must be fried. And the bbq chicken flatbread pizza is not to be missed, if you're into really good bbq chicken pizza. Throw in an ice cold local brew and what's not to like. The service was phenomenal. Hoke our waiter was a wealth of information and enhanced our meal with open opinions about the food... and the resort area. It has a fresh atmosphere and inviting employees. Came here with my family for dinner - great service and food. We ordered Cajun shrimp, stuffed chicken and both were delicious. The kids pizza was amazing too and they finished all of it. Finally the dessert was yummy - we ordered the banana pudding. We will be back again this week to try some pizzas for adults. Highly recommended for groups with kids - you can't beat the service and value for money. read more

My wife and I spent a portion of our honeymoon at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, and were generally dissatisfied with the dining options on-property. Other than perhaps the Lava Lava Beach Club, we felt like Foster's Kitchen was the best choice nearby. We had a reservation and they were a little slow to seat us, but they made up for it with a free appetizer, which was very generous! We didn't make a stink or anything, they just did it. Great customer service. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for a resort area (in Hawaii no less!), and the food was tasty. I had fish and chips and my wife had a grilled ono dish. I'm told that they try to source locally as much as possible, which is great. Also, they had one of the best local beer selections I've seen anywhere on the island, with a good number of options from multiple Hawaiian breweries (Kona Brewing, Maui Brewing, Big Island Brewhaus, two that I'm not remembering). In fact, the only place I visited that had more options was the actual Kona Brewing Company pub. 5/5, would recommend to others and would go again. Cheers! read more

We were a little apprehensive about coming in here because of the ratings, and the fact that there were only 2 other people in here. Boy are we glad we gave it a shot. Right away, my husband was happy about the fact that they carried his favorite Maui Brew (Lahaina Town Brown) and I was pleased with the wine list. We both ordered the same thing which was the burger. But I got the Cajun fries and my husband got the regular. The burgers arrived and they looked ridiculous good! But they tasted even better. The beef patties were hand patted and cooked perfectly. Topped with sautéed mushrooms, slice of bacon and crumbles of Gorgonzola, holy cow! These babies were juicy when you bit into it. And the Cajun fries were spicy little devils that I couldn't stop eating. The staff was great and I'll definitely be back! read more

Once again Foster's has done it. We prefer the bar and took our seats. We were waited on by the same bartender as last time Kylie. She made our experience so wonderful. There was a really long wait for food but they were a busy restaurant. Bruschetta is an absolute must!! When we mentioned it was our anniversary trip she wrote down a list of fun things to do include a romantic hawaiian hotub excursion. Abysmal. Sent the steak pasta back because is was more soup than Alfredo sauce. Waiter asked if we wanted anything else. Just a glass of wine. Received the bill before the glass of wine. Had to ask for utensils to eat our appetizer. And then had to ask for clean cutlery to eat our entrees. Observations from our vantage point...lots of apologies from the staff to nearby tables. Orders going to the wrong table...the correct table having to flag the server down for their food. My god I hope the b-team was on shift tonight. If not, this place is doomed. read more

We ordered take out from them and the food was just ok. They messed up part of our order but the fries were the worst part. It was burnt, not crispy and inedible. No one ate them. I called to complain and they said I can come back and bring them there. And do what? Get new fries? The cost of gas and my time was not worth driving back to show them lousy fries. read more

After eating at this restaurant and the one in Kona I have about a 20%success rate of having a good meal. Visiting friends ALWAYS want to come here to eat because of the publicity that was stirred up after Guy Fieri filmed a partial episode there despite my apprehensions. I've been served everything from burnt pork chops, cold shrimp and grits, to boring Cajun pasta, and once watched a member of the staff eating a lamb chop that I can only imagine was sent back from a table. The beer cheese sliders are ok and have been my only safe choice thus far. It looks like they have spent time putting the cocktail program together but the execution isn't there. This is my go-to when in Waikoloa, as it is the most consistently good restaurant in a sea of really bad and overpriced ones. 8 of us dined in yesterday, and had a very positive experience. My favorite is the southern style friend fish and chicken (either stand alone or in a sandwich). That cornmeal crust fried fish and fried green tomatoes take me straight back to my childhood near the Mississippi River. I also recommend the stuffed mushroom appetizer--so ono! There's a nice selection of drinks from local breweries, and this is one of the better places for desserts in the area. Foster's chocolate torte is to die for! Service is attentive and online reservations system is very easy. Also, special shout-out to the $3.50 keiki meals. It is so appreciated and NOT something found anywhere else in the area. read more

Spent my birthday at Foster's kitchen. Had a Fabulous time. I had been junk fooding out all weekend and was ready for something fresh. I had the special shrimp salad with citrus honey miso dressing. It was stellar. What was more stellar was KEHAU , and introduced me to the pana cotta!! She was helpful, kind and knew all of my needs. From needing a straw to figuring out what dessert was going to blow me away. And giving me permission to get a second one if i please-seeing how its my birthday. read more

We joined waitlist, waited 20 mins, they texted us and said table was ready, so we unloaded the kids and handicapped person, then was told they are closing early due to staffing shortages.
