What a great addition to Waikoloa! I loved the Kona location and this is the same spectacular food and very friendly service. I had heard that they were working through some "kinks" in the early days, but when I was there it was very smooth. Get the stuffed chicken! It's awesome! We were excited to go to Foster's kitchen because they had an extensive selection for a gluten-free. When we got there the server started out by telling us what was not available on the menu which was literally half of the items. We were finally able to decide on something, hamburger and fish and chips with the truffle fries. They were out of the coleslaw and then the dessert that we wanted was not available either. Was a little more casual than I expected. Kind of loud at times with the open metal frame ceilings. The service for a table of 13 was excellent. I believe the servers name was Chris. He was actually sprinting to the kitchen at times. The shared appetizers were awesome but some of the fish entrees not as great. I had the spearfish tacos. Which were a bit on the tough side for the fish. A couple others had the fish & chips which are prepared in a cornmeal type of batter. I'm told they weren't that good. Great place with wonderful service, food and atmosphere. We were wondering around the shops looking for a different fish and chips place, and decided to stop here instead for a respite from the heat and take advantage of their indoor seating. We were both sooo glad we did. Jessica S. was our terrific waitress, she made excellent suggestions both food and drink-wise. We shared a seared Ahi appetizer and then fish and chips and a salad. She loves her job, she's very attentive to her guests, and Fosters Kitchen is lucky to have her. We called ahead and were told they don't make reservations but that we could join the wait-list when we got there. There's a way to join the list online, but the hostess said it wasn't available right now. We were told the wait was about 35-45 min. We quickly drove over there and joined the wait-list and was quoted 45 min wait. There were about 10 people in front of us. An hour later, there were still 10 people ahead of us. They didn't seat a single party even though there were tons of tables available. We were told the kitchen was backed up and they weren't seating people. Apparently the manager told them they could not turn people away, but it would have been much more helpful to us if they had just told us that when we checked in instead of making us wait an hour before telling us that, even when they did finally seat us, it would still be another hour before the kitchen had the food ready. So we gave up and left after about 2 hours. We've eaten at the Kona location and the food was great. Wish we could have eaten here as well. read more

Service is very nice and has a friendly atmosphere. Hosts were very welcoming and servers are helpful and attentive. Feels good eating here knowing the food is fresh and local so I know what I'm really putting in my body. On top of that the location is beautiful being that you're by the lake and there's is spacious windows indoors brightening up the place. Very kind of the owner to make the Keiki menu $3.5 to help support family's during a time like this and you won't find that anywhere else. Overall great vibe and is the place to be. read more

Best food I have had at kings market place since I arrived 2 weeks ago. A variety of salads, burgers and fish dishes-sandwiches. The staff in particular,the day Menager cayman and our waiter Mark provided excellent service even though the restaurant was rather full. I would recommend this to anybody visiting the big Island. We enjoyed the diversity of food options and sitting by the lake. The desserts were a let down.

I really wish i could leave a good review right now, however my experience was worse than fast food bc at least when you go to mcdonald's they tell you straight up if the ice cream machine is broken. We were originally told our wait would be 45-1hr, so we went and walk around and then an hour later return. The manager then told us that people weren't leaving and we would be best off placing an order to go (which honestly was okay for us bc we understood the situation). However....we placed our order including two items that we would MUCH later be told were not available. It took 25 minutes for us to be told our entree was sold out (25 minutes of waiting in rain), and then it wasn't until we received our to-go food that we found out our appetizer was out. All of this aside (as if this wasn't 2 hours of my life i will never get back), the food was meh. Everything was soggy, the pasta was over cooked, the replacement meals we were forced to order because of other things being sold out were not up to standard. For a nice restaurant I had high hopes, but was very let down. Seriously hoping this reaches someone who can take accountability for the customers experience here because the staff was not to blame. read more

Me and three other girl friends went to this restaurant over our spring break (all of us are under 21). We heard great things about this restaurant but were disappointed. This was one of the higher recommended places for us in Kona. The menu has great selections and the food is an overall 3 star quality. It's not bad but it's not super fresh either. We had a salad, ribs, fish tacos, and steak pasta. The portions besides the pasta were very small for the amount we were paying, given, this restaurant is pretty cheap in comparison to others in the kings or queens market. However, they appeared to be super busy and rushed us out of the restaurant quite rudely. They kept saying "take your time" but gave us the check 5 minutes after receiving our food. We were also asked about dessert 2 minutes into our meal. It made us feel stressed and unable to enjoy our meal. Overall, Not bad food, just improper service. read more

Me and my friends had such a good time here for dinner, while on vacation. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly and personable. We had so many questions and are a very indecisive group in general, but our waiter, Oscar, was so patient and helpful. He definitely knew the menu, gave us great suggestions, and had good humor. For Waikoloa, prices are reasonable and u get to seat in the lanai or inside a clean and AC restaurant. We didn't have reservations and this place was packed on a Thursday night. We had pretty good burger lettuce wraps. Very generous amount of burgers and fries. We had the soufflé and cheesecake for dessert. I would skip those because of the portion , which will not satisfy one person. Roy's choc soufflé is 2x bigger. Service was 5 star though and u can't beat the location. We liked their Kona location too. This place is popular and the 5 star reviews here r not fake (unlike several in the Islands reviewer by locals to boost business). Oops.. I could get in trouble for this comment! Don't forget the Mafia who favors businesses that pay the monthly ads here too. For Yelpers who have been around long, u know what I'm talking about. Nice place. Not too cold and very friendly hostess and waiters. Had the Paniolo Salad, kids Mac and cheese, kids ribs and strawberry puff pastry and seafood puff pastry. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy--too much and looked more like the cheese was just sprinkled on it. The ribs were excellent and actually a good portion for an adult. I think the heat made us feel less hungry. The Paniolo Salad was okay. The Gorgonzola cheese gave a lift but it needed something fruity like pears, oranges or berries. The music was not too loud and they were kid friendly. It was not over crowded and not too bar like even though there is a bar. Unable to get reservations due to lack of staffing/Covid state regulations of so many diners allowed, so would have needed to have booked days/weeks in advance. They weren't accepting any walk-ins either saying they were booked when we popped in. Asked if they do take out orders and they said as long as you call in before 5pm. Thought we would try that the next day and pick up and take back to our hotel for an early dinner. Called the morning of to check that this was still the case...female who answered phone told me it was until 6pm that you could order takeout and I specifically asked if it was 5 or 6 because the previous day I was quoted 5. She said it was 6 and only 5 the day before because they had not enough staffing due to a large party to accommodate take out orders. She reassured me it was 6 on the weekends. That evening I called to place our order around 520-525pm and another female who answered the phone told me they don't do takeout orders past 5pm! I told her what I had been quoted on the phone earlier in the day and she had no response other than sorry we can't take your order. She was not helpful or sincere in her apology. Had hoped to utilize this restaurant as a change of pace from the hotel fare, but guess not. Had to repeat another hotel restaurant instead; shame because the menu looked great. My husband had the Cajun Shrimp Pasta, my youngest had the kids Mac and Cheese, and my daughter and I split the Steakhouse Pasta. He enjoyed his pasta and it had a ton of flavor. It was a little oily. My daughter liked her Mac and cheese but said it didn't have much sauce and I agreed.
