The hamburgers are pretty good that's about it. The fries are usually undercooked and soft or rock hard. I have tried to give the place a few chances but have ended up disappointed. The people who work there aren't the friendliest. The young girls working pay more attention to their phones and each Other than the customers.I wouldn't be writing this bad review it weren't for the treatment I received today. I made my order and it was a large one. The lady taking the order was very curt and almost rude with me while I ordered. Once I pulled up to the window the lady was again very curt with me and said she wants to go over my order to make sure it was all right, which it was . After she gave me the food and returned my debit card, I tried to still be polite and I said thank you. She said nothing to me at all and walked away from the window. Such terrible customer service. I get home to see the $10 clam strips and fries I ordered was basically a few small chunks of rock hard over fried clams, and mushy undercooked fries. Tonight was the first time I've been to the Fountain. I got the deluxe burger without relish! Soooo good. I wish I would've asked for another patty though lol the bun was toasted on the inside of each bun and just delicious. The fries were really good too!! Visited this restaurant on 9/16/18. If you're reading this and you're a manager, you should determine who was working the register that day (female in her late teens to early 20s) and either give her a crash course in customer service... or get rid of her. She never smiled once. After my family ordered and I paid, she watched as I wrote in a tip of ~20% on the receipt. Even then, no smile... no thank you... no manners. This treatment continued when our food was delivered and when my wife went to the counter to request the ketchup we had asked for the first time.... and when I encountered her in the hallway as I took my son to wash his hands. It was just weird; it took more effort for her to be so rude than it would have taken to just be nice. I would give 1 star for the lack of customer service, but the burgers we got were actually really good. They admittedly looked low quality with generic, cheap-looking buns... but they tasted great! This place could be a repeat destination for road-weary travelers if they maintained the facility better and treated their customers as if they wanted them to return. read more

Now let me tell you, that this place is old and family owned since probably the early 60's. It's not your state of the art establishment, So don't judge the book by the cover. The deluxe cheeseburger is amazing. It's a thin burger, with shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickle. One of the best parts of the burger is the grilled bun with crispy edges. Again, if your looking for the fat burger, this isn't the place for you. Price is good for the burger you get. The fries are a good portion and cooked perfectly, with good flavor. Hey, There must be a reason a place can be in business 50 years! Cheap prices for simple diner burgers that has a toasty bun and you can build it how you want it. (refreshing that the customer has ordering rights here.) BUT for me it was ALL ABOUT THE SHAKES & MALTS! They are AMAZING! You can't find them made this way any more. I've been driving by this place for years now and I finally tried it out and it was pretty good. I didn't mind the wait time at all. Some previous reviews complained of this but whenever an establishment cooks your food after you order a little bit of a wait is expected and honestly I prefer this type of cooking. Yes, it took a while to get the food, but that's a small price to pay for freshly cooked burgers. A drive thru doesn't automatically make it "fast food." This place has the best burgers!! If your looking for a delicious American burger this is the place to go! They always have a perfect toast on the bun and right amount of toppings. I will say if you don't get the double patty there is not enough beef to bun.... so get that double patty! I'm surprised at some of the reviews on here. Especially the ones saying they take forever to get your food. It is a DRIVE-IN not a DRIVE THRU. It even has a sign that says the food isn't made until you order it so it's always fresh. Sam assisted us and was very efficient and friendly. Food came out quickly and was delicious! The fish filet used were large and plump! My husbands burger looked amazing! This place has seemed to go down hill over the last year. I usually go there for dessert but decided to try a cheese burger and fries!! It was the worst stale burger I've ever had. It was a small patties covered in a mayo-sweet pickle sauce that was so sweet I could barely eat it. The bread was clearly toasted to cover up the fact it very stale bread. They've got the best fries in town and their burgers are decent if you can wait a while. It's greasy American fare, but it'll hit the spot if you've got a craving for burgers and fries. I've tried to go through the drive thru at least 5 times in the year that I've worked in Arlington, but they have literally never taken my order there, even after I sat there for more than 5 minutes one time. I'm not sure why they have a drive thru if they're not going to bother staffing it. Ugh. Bad bad food. The "chicken burger" was some factory produced breaded patty thing that bore virtually no resemblance to real chicken. Yuck. The "fish burger" was of the same ilk. First I should mention we hit the drive thru, there was only one car in front of us and they make your food *after* you order it (who doesn't enjoy their food freshly made?) With that being said our 10 minute wait time was very reasonable. We paid a little less than $30 for two burgers, two fries and two milkshakes which is also reasonable. So I can't understand the reviewers complaining about either thing, seeing how you go to any fast food joint and you pay around $10-15 a meal and wait anywhere from 5-15 minutes. read more

Ate here for the first time today. Not impressed. Ordered a regular burger and fries. Burger was dry, and the bread seemed stale. Fries had zero flavor (no seasoning at all). Service was OK, until I asked for some ketchup. I was handed 2 packets and had to ask for more. I was given 2 more and again had to ask for more.
