Horrible Experience hosting a private event. The owner was extremely rude to us and definitely treated us like we were not welcomed at all and his poor staff members just kept getting yelled at for no reason at all. The bathrooms were really in bad condition and not sure where it was coming from but during our event a sour smell filled the area our guest couldn't take it and some left early. The owner, yelled at me (from his car) about how many people could park for free - totally understandable- but instead of just calmly resolving he stays in his car and keeps yelling "I ONLY SAID ONE CAR!" ok...that's not a problem. No need to yell. When I asked if this was ever communicated directly to the host, my sister, he kept saying he told the middle person. He had a lot of unwarranted hostility. It would slide if we were at the Waldorf...but at the end of the night I found a couple of dead roaches. There is alot the owners should worry about regarding their building and maybe add a light to the elevator...save yourself a liability? lol just wow I'm so embarrassed I had to tell a couple celebrities to please take the stairs. Where we host events the establishment we rent esthetically represents us so seeing roaches, dirty bathrooms and a dark elevator it was a bad look for anyone looking to book there after us. Entertainment companies are looking to rent or buy spaces even more - key tips , have movable furniture, respect your staff and learn how to regulate your emotions and SPEAK - you never know who you are ever speaking to that could bring you loyal business. So...It's a shame how you handle me in the parking lot. I assume you have ALOT of business/clients - so why care how you handle yourself to any and everyone, right? He refused to speak directly to anyone and kept delegating to a non English speaking staff member that could only do so much he was sweet but communicating was a struggle. They nailed the Asian fusion food here. Mexican, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and even more. Who would've thought that adding Szechuan chili oil to shrimp and grits could make it even better? It was creamy and rich but the spice from the oil gave it a nice kick. I'm also a huge fan of carbonara and the addition of miso gave it an umami flavor that I didn't even know was missing. I'm also not the biggest wings fan but honey butter is now one of my favorite flavors and Korean wings will always prevail. I also tried gochujang bbq and garlic parmesan, and all of the wings are pretty saucy but it's worth getting messy hands for. The one thing I would skip on is the kale salad. It wasn't even kale and the spring mix they used had leaves that were mostly wilted so it wasn't fresh. The pecans were also regular and not candied. The dining area outside is very nice and spacious but the downside is the amount of bugs that land on you and your table if you're having lunch. It seems as if they share half the space with Memory Look but there's also indoor seating with pool tables and bar seating. The plus side is the spacious parking lot which is uncommon for Koreatown. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab a drink and work on a manuscript. They had plenty of tables but also an outside patio area. There was food and signature cocktails. The first one was so good, (the fountain mule), had to try another drink. It was early afternoon so there was no one inside but the patio had patrons lounging and enjoying. There was some nice music playing in the background but ins8de there was a DJ stand. I'm sure it gets pretty live when the sun goes down. This was my first visit to this establishment. Food was okay drinks were cool, the ambiance was nice as well. Service: I was here for an event and arrived early; hardly no one had arrived and the service was cool. Once the building filled and folks began to order food and drinks, the service was not so good. Orders were not being taken, the bartenders were trying to figure out which drinks and food were ordered by whom. I'm not sure the staff were prepared for the crowd. With that being said, I ordered fries (they were fried really hard but I didn't complain) two glasses of wine and a shot of Don. I had a tab running on my card. At the end of the night, I asked to close my tab. When the bill arrived, and I took a look at it, I noticed that I was charged an additional four dollars per glass of wine; for a total of eight additional dollars. I called one of the waitresses over and asked her why did the price of the wine look different than the price on the menu and she told me it was because of gratuity. I looked down at the bill and there was also a 15% gratuity applied automatically. The bar was crowded, everyone was out of sorts so I just said forget it and I paid the tab so that I could grab my Uber that was already waiting for me outside. I think it's important to know that my rating is not based on my overall experience however, it is based on prices listed on the menu and adding additional fees to a receipt. There were a lot of us in the establishment last night and imagine how many other peoples tabs had additional funds added to them. This establishment was able to make additional money, especially if you aren't paying attention to the menu prices. I was paying attention to the menu prices, but to me I wasn't gonna fight over eight dollars and I wanted to go home and I needed to grab my Uber, so the rating that I'm giving is based on the fact that I don't think it's good business policy and it's not ethical to charge additional money thinking that folks may not pay attention because maybe they've had one or two too many drinks. We came here Sunday around 2:30pm. We couldn't find any other closer bar to get a drink while our friend waited for a table at Crab House. There was a friendly bouncer at the front who checked our ID. There happened to be a stand up comedy show when we walked in. We didn't really listen to it since we were there to talk and drink. We wanted a bloody mary but the waitress said they didn't have the ingredients here but then later said they have them. It took like 10 mins or more for them to make it, but they were missing tabasco to make it spicy. The drink was ok. whenever i wanted to have cocktails, or some drinks that are not soju in Koreatown, i always had to go either dtla or more west or north from k town so i was so happy to try this place out that i can come for drinks that are not soju. I went to 2pm on Sunday, our group was the only one customer until we left. The drinks in general are very pricey($18 wasn't even big) and took like 15mis to serve when we were the only customers), they only have one beer(coors) under $10 everything else was $10 to $14 for beers. No happy hour, there are not many selections of cocktails either. We also had french fries but It didn't taste fresh, not hot enough. The rooftop wasn't opened, I guess they only open at night. There were so many outdoor seats too but we didn't have a choice as none of the outdoor tables were ready. The server was kind and he even let us play a free dart game but I really wished they had some good drink deals, or rooftop/outdoor seats opened. I also expected that this place to be like a sports bar but the screens are not even big enough up too high so my neck hurts to see the screen. We arrived here on a Saturday night and the person on the phone said they'd be showing the UFC fight. So we went over and decided to try the place out. Lo and behold, they were showing replays of old UFC fights. There were two other large parties who were under the impression that they'd be showing the fight. Everyone was disappointed. We brought it up to the staff and they said they'd speak with their boss about purchasing the PPV. After about an hour, they ended up playing it at the upstairs level. The worker was working hard to try to get it playing for us so kudos to the kind sir. We go up and it turns out they ended up streaming it from a free website. Onto the food. We got a burger and nachos. Nachos were decent. The burger tasted like it took a nosedive in Santa Monica pier. Saltiest burger I've had in my life. Can't pay me to eat the burger again. To top it off, the waiter dropped off a check on our table as soon as we ordered the food, without saying a word. No one asked for the check. Bar is super new so they're working through a handful of operational kinks, but every time I come back, experience is consistently getting better - management appears unusually responsive to customer feedback. Upstairs is a good event spot; right now venue required min spend sounds crazy low (but they will eventually figure out). Overall, standout upper-scale sports bar amongst a field of also lively, but cookie-cutter divey-er ktown joints. My top choice venue to shout at tvs when my fav sports teams let me down. They switched our receipt with another table and ended up charging us around $1000. We tried to dispute the charge and our point of contact said they can not reverse the charge and would give us a cash refund instead. We never got the cash refund. The POC would not answer our calls and when I sent an instagram DM to Fountain LA, they blocked me lol. On top of all this, they also watered down the bottles for our table. When we noticed it was watered down, we asked for a replacement and asked for them to open the bottle in front of us. They told us that all the bottles they had were already opened? One of my boyfriend's friend of 10 years, DJ Mix (co-owner of Fountain LA) invited us to get a table on February 4, 2023. He originally promised us an established price that he claimed were the "cheapest tables in clubs" After some discussion, we invited 6 friends (2 of whom DJ Mix has also known for 10 years) and decided to get a table. The night of, we got to our table. It took them over an hour to deliver our bottles. When we finally started drinking, we noticed that the alcohol tasted watered down. The bottles were opened prior to us receiving them. When we asked for an unopened bottle, they claimed they already opened all their bottles in the back. Is this legal? To top it all off, we got our bill and were charged almost double from the originally discussed price. DJ Mix assured us that he would send us the difference. Over a month later of excuses and repeated empty promises, DJ Mix blocks us. Any inquiry we made to Fountain LA by email or instagram was either blocked or ignored. Predatory and illegal behavior from management and staff. If the co-owner is willing to throw away 3 decades worth of friendship over $400, imagine what they would do to you and your friends. Nice hidden gem in Ktown! Parking lot is huge, and the bar/lounge aura on the first floor is different from the second floor. Cocktails were good. I tried the Fountain mule (too bad I forgot to take a pix) and the Burger was yum/filling. They have pretty much every type of alcohol - cocktails, wine, draft beer, hard liquor, etc. The waiter recommended I try the Spanish Latte, so I'll have to come back again. Def recommend! read more
