Fountain Square Brewing is one of my favorite spots to unwind after work. There is always new local art on display, so there's something new and interesting to look at every time I go. It can be crowded and noisy but somehow that doesn't ruin the experience for me. It just increases the likelihood of running into new friends! This is a great place to just chill out with friends and enjoy a beer (or twelve). Good beer, good atmosphere, and the bartenders are friendly. I love that you can taste everything before you decide, since what I want that day depends on my mood. They had a coffee porter a while back that was amazing. Warning though-if you're there on a prime brew bus tour night the crowds will keep coming. Usually the buses only stay for a short while, so it won't be forever, just make sure you aren't out of beer when they walk in. read more

We were visiting family in Indy and they had never been to fountain square brewery. We walked about a mile from their place to check it out with our 3 kids(two of which were sleeping in the stroller). Apparently kids aren't allowed so we were asked to leave. Wish we wouldn't have wasted our time since there are SO many breweries in Indy to choose from. read more

I've started making it a point to get to know the local breweries. My taste for beer has started to move away from the hoppy IPAs into ambers, porters, and stouts, so I heard Fountain Square Brewing was a great place to try. Tucked into one of my favorite neighborhoods, this tasting room is inviting, open and easy to move through with great artwork. I've visited several times and there is always a buzz of activity that makes it a fun stop. The Backyard Porter is my favorite and I've made it point to come in for $5 Growler fills on Sundays. Backyard porter and Workingmans pilsner are elite beers no matter where you are... I was at Fountain Square Brewery for a show, and come to find out...it wasn't a bad place for one! The place gets a little loud, as you might expect, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. There's plenty of space, and there's places to sit if you need a break. But I've also enjoyed going to FSB for a drink. I love the porter, and I have enjoyed the Cinnamon Girl, as well. Overall, it's a great place to hang out and get a good beer. read more

I've been a fan of the Preacher's Daughter Amber but this was my first visit to the tasting room! The room has a great urban chic feel (I was made fun of for making that declaration but I stand by that observation enough to post it here). The tasting room is on one side of the warehouse and there are huge windows so that you can look into the brewing space. We sat on comfy couches around a large wood table and there was also seating at a bar and tall bistro tables. This tasting room has a "sit and stay awhile" vibe that I really liked. My friends and I had a great time sampling the beers in that environment. Very friendly and welcoming. Excellent beer. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm a huge fan of good craft beer and frequently visit other brewerys close to downtown (flat 12, Rock Bottom, Sunking). I went over the weekend for the first time to see a friend having a birthday party here and I must say I'm very impressed with the beer selection and taste. I tried their IPA, Amber, and Pilsner. They were all fantastic with great taste that in my opinion beat out the other local brews, minus Sunking's Osiris. The atmosphere was nice also and the service was good. I will definitely be stopping back in here. read more

My personal favorite of the Indy micro breweries! Workingmans Pilsner is smooth and tasty. Great everyday beer. I've tried their Soul Ride IPA and their seasonal Imperial IPA (the name has slipped my mind). Best in town - in my opinion. Fountain Square has always been close to my heart growing up. I always wanted it to be my southside Broadripple. Well it is there now minus the douchebags. A new gem in this area is the Fountain Square Brewery. The equipment and brewer were acquired from the defunct Alcatraz Brewery. I have been there twice and the staff and ownership are second to none. All the beer I have had is great. The Count Nibula Chocolate Stout is off the charts. I am glad to see such a great place makes its home in my favorite area in town. It had lots of big hurdles to get off, being the new brewery in town and being the new guy in a flourishing area. But if anyone made it to their grand opening, you can tell they are knocking it out of the park. Congrats guys! read more

I'm very new to beer drinking. I'd always been handed a generic beer in a bottle, or a Bud Light in a can, and shook my head when I took a sip. About a year ago, I found out what I'd been missing; I was introduced to locally produced craft beers, and never looked back. Indianapolis has a lot of brewers producing great offerings & I've enjoyed exploring this new world. Yelp has helped me follow fellow imbibers & discover new breweries to try wherever I wander. I've found lots of new favorites, but my go to beer is definitely Workingman's Pilsner. It tastes great, it goes with all kinds of food, & I never grow tired of it. I find it many places, but I really enjoy coming to the Fountain Square Brewery because of the great location. It's a cool neighborhood & the people here are an interesting mix. There's a traditional bar you can sit at or plenty of tables, chairs, or sofas. It's big & roomy and has vibrant, colorful art on the walls. In the summer they pop open the door & there's outdoor seating; sometimes there's even someone making tasty food outside. But best of all? They're right on the Cultural Trail! So after an exhilarating excursion all over town on Indy's awesome bike trails, you can take a break with a flight or a pint. read more

We went to FSB to see one of our favorite local bands. There is very little seating and they even take the chairs from the bar while you are using them. Their thing to cram as many people in as possible with unfettered bar access, and those pesky chairs just get in the way. You then have to hold your drink (while dancing) with no place to set it and spills happen. My wife slipped twice due to spilled drinks. This experience really sucked and we will not go back. read more

I came down here on a First Friday (which are always a great time in Fountain Square!) to have a beer while a friend filled a growler and was immediately impressed! The beers I tried were very tasty and the atmosphere was happening, with a bunch of people just hanging out here there and everywhere and talking while one guy played guitar and sang (thought the sound system did seem to need some refining...) All in all it was a great trip, and upon learning that they have cheap growler fills on Sundays, I'm going to need to come back and check this place out again! read more

So, not my favorite place. On the plus side, the staff were all very friendly and helpful at giving taste tests. On the downside, my taste buds and their beer options just didn't jive. I would have liked them to have offered a lower IBU beer other than a dark brew and something wheat. Also, I didn't dig the atmosphere. It was way too quiet. We've been to Fountain Square on many occasions and I'm never disappointed. Most recently we went on a Friday evening, and they opened up the actual brewing garage for a free concert. It was a great atmosphere to listen to music. I prefer their Hop for Teacher IPA, which is the perfect hoppy yet still refreshing brew. Reasonably priced, and always with friendly service. read more

First time in Indy and I came here via uber. It's located in a rough part of town ( from my perspective, first timer) but don't let the building and location fool you. I went to the bar and the bartender was super nice and explained all the beers they had on tap. If you are unsure, he will let you try all of them before you order. I drank the IPA, stout and pumpkin ale, all delicious. Free pretzels to munch on too. I sat next to a bunch of locals and they said this was their favorite brewery and that I made a good selection when visiting Indy. I would come back here again when I'm in town. read more

Went to the grand opening, and tried the milk stout. It was very good. If I lived closer, I would refill my growlers regularly ($5 on Sundays!). Didn't have a chance to try their other beers, so I cannot comment on them. I liked it better than Oaken Barrel. read more
