The bar was hopping and loud filled with TGIF people winding down. The place has an industrial vibe, with about a dozen high top tables. Four tv monitors play sports around the room. There is a menu of their in-house made beers above the bar, where you order. My husband and I had a Badass IPA. The beer was smooth and good. Food is limited to pretzels and complementary popcorn. There was a sign for ordering HotBox pizza for delivery. They offer a Club option for $100 that gets beer discounts and other perks. Logo shirts are for sale if you want the shirt. read more

We came to watch the Purdue game and I was pleasantly surprised that they switched their wine to No Ruff Days - local Daniel's Vineyard wine. They have 4 different ones to choose from. Also way better than the other brand they had before. Alec was the beertender of the night and we absolutely love him. Such a fun guy. And his wife was there as well. Good to catch up with them both. Great local brewery with friendly staff. Super easy place to hang: dog-friendly, kid-friendly, with lots of board games, multiple TVs and ability to bring your own food. It's nice to have such a flexible atmosphere. The beer is fine -- I'd visit a few other local breweries first if I want the best ipa or stout in the city, but if I want a place to hang away from home and have a beer or two, this is the place. read more

This was a nice find close to the hotel while traveling to Indianapolis for work. The space is in a non-descript mixed use strip office building behind Squealers BBQ. There is an "L" shaped bar and ample tables and chairs. The space is fairly industrial looking and is open to the brewing area. They had several beers on tap; the ones I tried ranged from OK to quite good. I quite enjoyed the Brad's Rad Rye IPA and the Patersbier. The Bro Science 101 and the Barrelin' Around Bourbon Barrel Stout were good. I look forward to trying others the next time I am in Indy. The bartender was friendly and fairly attentive. Traders Brewery Company was a very nice discovery on the west side of Indianapolis. The Brewery itself is a very nice area with a nice bar and TV's. The beer is very good with the pancake batter beer being my favorite beer. The coffee porter is also wonderful as well. You really have to pay attention when you are looking for it, because it is hidden in the back of a warehouse. Definitely put the address in Google maps to find this Brewery. We met the owner Chris and he was a pure delight. He gave us the history of the Brewery and his background of how he became the owner of the Brewery. The story was very interesting and entertaining at the same time. This Brewery may be my new hangout with friends because it is a very open space area and very relaxing for its patrons. I kept always passing by this Brewery everytime, and everytime I kept telling myself I'm going to go there. Well, on a cold very rainy Saturday on October 26th I decided to go there. To my surprise it's really big inside, it's big enough to have a party. Before, you buy any beer there you can sample the beers, they offer the game connect 4, popcorn, and you can see the beer being made. Good local beer, great atmosphere, there was even a local brew bus that brought in more people in. My favourite beer was the Hana- Weizen it tasted very crisp, didn't cause no bubbles in my stomach, and in my opinion it taste similar to Heineken which the Indy local beer taste way better of course. I stopped in this new brewery after receiving a text from a friend about how much he liked the IPA here. He also mentioned great food too, so I was curious. Imagine my surprise that a brewery that had been open for three weeks wasn't on Yelp! Well, it is now! This is a family business with two pairs of related husband/wife teams managing the duties (and also one set of parents too!) One couple handles the front of the house business while the other couple handles the brewing and the marketing functions. Although they have a small storefront in one of the industrial strip centers on the southeast corner of 86th and Zionsville Road, the brewery is surprisingly spacious inside. There are tables near the door and the bar is on the right about half way back. The house beers are posted on a large blackboard behind the counter and are large enough to read without glasses! I asked and they have flights of 5 oz beers available in 4 or 6 selections. They currently have six house brews, 3 are planned as regular/year round brews, while the others may be seasonal or limited editions. I ordered a short flight of 4 and was happy with each one! I started off a Marlo (5.1% 27 IBU) amber ale which was deliciously rich in flavor. Very smooth and yummy...not many beers can say that! I moved on to the Patersbier (5% 28.6). This beer was very sweet tasting and was really surprising how much I liked it. This may be a limited offering, so get there soon! I went to one of the regular offerings, the Building One (5.8% 34.4) pale ale. It was very hoppy without the bitterness that some IPA's have. I call it a great transitional beer if you want to eventually add IPA's into your range of beers. My final selection was the Kiss my, I'm Roasty (4.2% 29) Irish Stout which was filled with a deep coffee flavor. Seriously, if you like your coffee strong and black, even when it's cold, you will love this beer. If you don't like coffee, move along to one of the other options. The good news is that whenever Traders is open for business, Mad Max Smokehouse Food Truck is ready to serve food to go with your beverages. The stout went really well with a sweet brisket sandwich I ordered while there. The staff was really friendly and I got to meet and talk with many of them on my Saturday afternoon stop. I've been here twice now and both experiences have been wonderful and I'm sure I'll be back a lot more. The people that work there are friendly and knowledgeable and they really want you to enjoy the beer you get. It's $5 a pint for most beers and that's pretty standard for the area. While there isn't food food, there is free popcorn that goes really well with the beers served (who knew), and they encourage you to order in or bring in your own food. They even leave out plates and utensils for that very purpose which is cute! They also have a nice collection of games including darts and foosball, so you can hang out and play for quite a while and you don't feel like you're loitering. read more

Stopped on a Sunday night before heading to the hotel. We were making our way back to Iowa and had our dog with us. We were prepared to sit outside on the (small) patio but dogs are allowed inside! The bartender was AMAZING and let us stay a little later without making us feel rushed. They do have a small selection of snacks but allow food to be carried in and will make recommendations! Traders has become our regular hangout. The beer is excellent and they have a good variety of house beers and a delicious rotation of seasonal selections and small batch beers. The staff and owners are all friendly, helpful and engaging with their guests. They have live music, trivia, and bingo on various nights - check their facebook page for schedules. On a quiet night, you can also play one of their many board or card games on the shelf. In addition to high-top tables and the bar, they have a comfortable couch and coffee table. The brewery is dog-friendly and on any given day you might run into 1-3 friendly canine regulars. They have 2 dog beds, water bowls, and a jar of dog biscuits for canine guests. The music selection is always good, but not overly loud so you can tune in to the music or have a good conversation without having to yell. This is a taproom not a restaurant. They have popcorn and water and soft drinks available. On occasion, they also have had an excellent house-made root beer. When they first opened, they had a food truck out back, but that's no longer the case. Squeelers Barbecue is across the parking lot and Yats is across the street, so you can pick up takeout and enjoy it with a great beer (or 2 or 3). read more
