The server was so warm and kind. We were able to sample the beers which were lovely! My partner got a light beer and I did a sour. Both were awesome! As we sat, the opened the garage doors on the building which opened up to the outdoor seating area! We ordered a hot dog and chicken sandwich both were great! Parking can be a little tricky since they don't have a lot. But plenty of street parking! read more

This spot is really chill. I miss that they stopped brewing. I thought that was kind of a nice touch, but maybe it's for the best that they sell other people's beer. Anyway, parking here can be a pain, but you can always park in the neighborhood and walk over. They have a plethora of drunk munchies form the food truck they have on hand all the time. It's called the Lion's Den. I am actually a fan. Their hot dogs are great. The fries and tots are a good texture too. You can bring your doggo as well. Been here a few times but this is my first review. I really like this neighborhood brewery, very homey and laid-back. They have specials and tonight was a hot dog and beer for $10. They also have Happy Hour which runs from. 4-6 pm during the week. I had the Chicago Dog and Barrelhouse Stout. Also ordered the fried zucchini. Everything tasted great and would definitely recommend. My nephew had the German Dog and the Red Ale. He also ordered an order of the tater tots. He was equally impressed with all of the items he ordered and would also recommend. When you walk in the menus are on the wall over the bar and that is where you will place your order. Drinks will be given after you complete your order and if you order food you will be given a pager. When the food is ready you head outside to pick it up. There is ample seating inside and outside. Parking is limited but we were able to find a spot close. Definitely worth the try! read more

Great selection of beer and they always have one cider and seltzer on tap too which is awesome! There is a super cute dart board area to play games if you want, and there is a lot of seat. While there is technically inside and outside seating, really the whole place feels outside because the wall open up. The employees here are incredibly nice. A lot of family members work here and pitch in - it is very sweet. You can tell the owners really love their business. They also have amazing happy hour deals! The hot dogs are pretty good, not spectacular but definitely worth the price I would say. The tots are amazing. I haven't had the pizza yet, but they look phenomenal! Fountainhead has been on my list of Sacramento breweries to visit because of its high ratings. With that in mind, I visited the brewery last Sunday and was disappointed. The facility is located in an old, aging industrial building, that has only two off street parking spaces. Although clean looking, both the interior and the patio contain a hodgepodge of old wobbly furniture and equipment. There is a food truck/trailer in the back where the food service is provided. The food is an eclectic mixture of hotdogs, appetizers and sub sandwiches. So, if you are into hotdogs, what I tried was excellent and included shoestring fries that were also very good. However, I was there for the beer, and that is where it fell apart. They don't offer flights, so I tried tasting as many as I could. The IPA's were overly hopped to the point where you couldn't identify the hop or hops used. The dark beers were watery and the lighter beers were unremarkable. I realize that everybody has a different experience with beer, but for me if a brewery has 4 plus stars, it means they are making flavorful quality craft beer that is correct for the styles. That was not what I experienced here. I wish them success going forward. read more

Such a great place! You almost miss it when you drive by, but definitely recommend stopping and having a drink and a hot dog. The service here is amazing, the man that took our order was super friendly and made us feel welcomed. He even checked up on us after we finished our meal to see if we liked it. The hot dogs are a MUST. If you like a little bit of a spicy kick, absolutely get the Griller dog. They're also not stingy with the toppings, it was such a filling meal. And the onions rings are probably the best I've had in sac. Super crispy! I paired my meal with the lion paw pineapple drink and he topped it with blueberry kombucha, it was super refreshing. We were scrambling to find a low-key venue for our mom's birthday party and Fountainhead was SO inviting and accommodating. Been exploring breweries in the area and Fountainhead seemed like a cool spot to check out. Driving by, parking is a bit awkward as the lot can only hold a few cars. If it's full or hard to enter, you can park out front or off to one of the side streets across the road. The inside of the brewery isn't huge, but the outside has some picnic tables for chilling. Beer was ok ($8/pint). They did tack on a credit card surcharge (4%) which turned me off a bit. With inflation already going on, it's getting tiring to see vendors stacking on additional surcharges. Just increase the prices of your items rather than giving customers surprise fees. Overall, it's an OK spot but didn't hit any marks for me to feel compelled to return. read more

Was hitting a lot of breweries in the area and this one was walking distance so we made sure to come by and we're glad we did. Small brewery (open since 2016) that survived the Covid era and I'm glad. Not a giant selection of beers - I asked if we could get a flight and he said they didn't have flights but would give us a little of each if we wanted. That's okay, we ordered a couple full beers and they were great. They do serve dogs there too, I could see coming here if you're close. There was also some function while we were there. Place was packed and it was good people there - there was a guy singing too (he wasn't that great but we sat outside so we're all good). This was our first time here and it was such a great experience! We came on a Monday so it was pretty slow but that was perfect for us to catch a chill vibe :) We were able to meet Daniel the brew master and Joe helped us out for the day. Both were very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Joe made us feel very welcomed and was very knowledgeable about all the beers in tap! Fountainhead also has a good truck in back that sells super yummy hot dogs with lots of toppings (trust me they don't skimp). I really dig the vibes at this neighborhood brewery. It's relaxed and everyone who works here is friendly and attentive. I've been here several times and there is always something new because they rotate beers so frequently, which I appreciate. Plus, the selection tends to be diverse, which means it's not all a shrine to super hopped IPAs (not my fav) like a lot of other breweries in town. I'm a fan of the PachaMama Zara Coffee Brown Ale that features one of our local coffee roasters. It's tasty, but I couldn't help but wonder how better it would be with Temple instead :) Most recently I tried their watermelon sour that blew my mind because I was pretty much convinced that I wasn't a fan of sours in general as I've tried dozens and have never tasted one that I've liked. This one was delicious in my opinion (and apparently flying out of their tap). They feature local musicians pretty much monthly in their large outdoor space and it's majorly dog friendly too. Both are major pluses in my book. I'll definitely come back, but I'm reserving my fifth star for when they bring a game-changing dark beer selection on board. read more

I stumbled upon this place yelping for a brewery I could come to kills some time. The two beers I tried were pretty tasty and they have some decent appetizers. They have several IPA's. I'm not a fan but my friend is and she really enjoyed hers! I started super light weight and ordered the strawberry seltzer, it was crisp and sweet, a little too sweet for my taste. But, then I had the basic AF blonde, which I really liked. My friend and I split one of the IPA's (whichever she picked) and although I usually avoid IPA's at all costs I took my friends word for it not being too hoppy-heavy so I took half a pint and actually enjoyed it. We ordered fries and their huge warm pretzel cheese. The perfect beer accompaniment. I've Their outdoors area set up is roomy... perfect for 2020 social distancing times. My friends and I got to Fountainhead right before it closed on a Saturday. There were only a few other people still around. I liked the backyard, out-of-someone's-garage feel. I really dug the authentic chill vibe. The bartender was generous letting us try different beers, which was a good thing because their red and stout were very different than what I was expecting. I ended up going for a nice, hazy IPA. No food for sale except some tortilla chips. Lots of games to choose from. The music was all over the place - from alternative 90s to new wave to pop - but it made for some fun conversations among the group. read more

Had a great Sunday afternoon at Fountainhead during Labor Day weekend 2019. Whew it was hot! But the great beer kept us cool I had the tasting flight and loved all my choices except for one. Pretty good amount of beers on tap, plenty of seating , corn hole , card/board games, TVs, this cute little VW bug makes a great photo opp, they also sell chips and salsa. This is a working brewery and the seating is in a patio indoor/outdoor warehouse type space so it might be a little more comfortable in the fall or whenever it isn't 100 degrees out. But the friendly service and chill vibe and great beer made it worth the heat . Glad we found this kinda out of the way place while searching for brews in Sacramento. in fermentum veritas. In fermentation/fermented product, we find truth. Or perhaps we find truth at the Fountain(head) of Youth? Oh yeah, I dig that 9.8% (yep. One will do ya.) Panama Red. At a brewery that offers not one, but two dark brews, which are my preference, Panama Red is still my favorite. Try it! Soooo tasty and refreshing, more bold that most reds. I dig that they have an actual variety of beers here, even with a limit of 6 styles at the time of my visit, including a stout, porter, IPA, an Extra Pale, and a Belgian Golden that was "out." There is nothing I can't stand more than going to a place and seeing all IPAs and Pale Ales on tap and like one tolerable something else. I like malty as opposed to hoppy, and I'm down with a lot of variety, but I don't get the IPA phase. I'll try a flight but I rarely want a glass of one. But I digress, the flight we purchased was affordable and served in 5 oz glasses with generous pours that really seemed larger than 5 oz, and included all five of the available beers. The sixth, the Belgian Blonde, was out, we were told, which was a huge bummer as I adore Belgians. However, I observed people coming in with growlers and getting pours from a sixth unlabeled tap. I wanted to ask what that was about, but the guy behind the bar didn't seem very enthused to talk to me, like at all. Not that he was rude, just not super friendly. The lady behind the bar was very nice, though. The weird tap thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe they had some just for people who have growlers from them or people who had reserved some ahead of time? Again, I'm assuming here, but it was kind of odd and sneaky. Truth be told, I wasn't very enthused with any of the beers expect for the Red, which is so good it's worth coming back for.They've also got a nice patio area, TVs for Giants games, wide open indoor tasting room with large communal benches, complimentary water, pretzels and oreos, and one unisex bathroom with a fully stocked changing table. That last bit makes me really want to get my five stars out, as it's rare to see an inclusive bathroom with such a nice changing table, but I need a few more visits before I decide to do that, and before I figure out what that exclusive mystery tap was about. Parking could be a problem here unless you know the area. There isn't a lot of room in the lot. There is room enough for cornhole and a foodtruck, though! I'm very glad to have a new brewery in the Hollywood Park/Curtis Park area, close enough to Track 7 to hit both on a lazy Sunday. I'll be back! read more

I will freely say, I am impressed! This new brewery in Hollywood Park is a whole new world- by that I mean it is one of the only breweries in town offering more than one lighter brew. Dark beers, hoppy beers, bitter beers, I grow tired of these. Please no hate mail! Everyone has different tastes and for me, I like a lighter blonde or pale ale, something a little sweeter, less hoppy and smooth. They have several offerings that fit the bill: Station 12 in particular is a great pale ale. They also offer Porters and Stouts, so do not fear, there is something for everyone. The beer tasting menu allows you to try everything. They also offer water and soda's for those who are not into beer, and free pretzels. Yay, something salty to make you drink more. What happened to bar snacks? They also have a variety of other salty bagged snacks. The food trucks are carefully cultivated and the owners are working hard to find the right trucks for the crowd. Inside there is a shelf with games including chess, checkers, board games, cards, and my favorite, Battleship. I played a mean game at the outside picnic table and enjoyed some greasy goodness from the "Squeeze Inn" truck with my Station 12. I met one of the owners, Mark, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and eager to discuss the craft. Super friendly and enigmatic, there is already a following of regulars. This new brewery does something really right: Open space, lots of shade, food trucks everyday, excellent and engaged customer service, and offering a different taste of beer. Variety is the spice of life. Take note- as it gets hotter, there is an indoor section and an outdoor area that has covered canopies. Living in the area, I've driven by this spot so many times and JUST noticed the other day that it was a brewery. I don't know how long Fountainhead has been here but I'm so glad my boyfriend and I decided to drop by on a Saturday evening. Parking is limited but we were lucky enough to grab a spot. (There's a lot of street parking if their tiny lot ever is full.) I was surprised to see about a dozen people sitting around enjoying their beers, playing corn hole, and just hanging out. There's a good mix of outdoor seating (under tents) and indoor seating as well. We grabbed a seat at the bar counter and ordered a pint each. I tried the Station 12 (a blonde) and my boyfriend got the Muddy Lion (a stout). Pints were $5 and filled to the rim! My pint was a wonderful blonde - light and refreshing. My boyfriend enjoyed the stout. We grabbed "Sorry!" from their game shelf and had a great time! There was a food vendor selling tamales, nachos, and street tacos. They have rotating food vendors if you want to buy a bite to eat or free hard pretzels. Great vibe, great crowd. read more
