The person behind the bar was so sweet! They greeted me right away and got to telling me their favorite beers and gave me some suggestions on what they thought I might like. I ended up tasting three different beers but chose the lady barnyard which I thought was great! They make all their beers in house! For those who don't like beer they also have a couple of hot tea options! It's a fairly large place that has ample seating! They also have a little bit of outdoor seating! Will be back to try their canned fish. I was told that they serve them with a side of kettle chips.

Mattie Groves Brewery - A True Community Gem Mattie Groves is everything a local craft brewery should be. Their mission of creating and sustaining a thriving craft community really shines the moment you walk in the door. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely inclusive -- it truly feels like a place where everyone is welcome. Katie and Matt are two of the friendliest brewery owners I've ever met. You can feel their passion for beer, craft culture, and community in the way they interact with guests. They're present, approachable, and clearly love the space they've created. It's inspiring to see people who are actually rooted in the work and the relationships behind it. And of course, meeting Laika was an absolute delight. She's the heart and spirit of the brewery -- a joyful, social ambassador who makes new friends instantly. Her presence adds an unmistakable sense of personality and comfort to the space. It's impossible not to smile when she trots over to say hello. The beer itself is fantastic -- premium quality, thoughtfully crafted, and affordably priced. You can taste the care and creativity in every pour. And having Old Soul Co. right inside the building is the perfect pairing. Being able to enjoy fresh, delicious food without having to leave your seat is incredibly convenient, and their menu complements the brewery experience perfectly. Mattie Groves Brewery has created something rare: a place that feels personal, intentional, and deeply community-centered. Whether you're here for the beer, the conversation, the atmosphere, or the friendly four-legged host, it's truly a special spot. Highly, highly recommended.

On a long walk down L Street and decided to take a break. The dog friendly sign was the kicker. Looked at the beer menu and with help from folks behind the bar chose a High Tider Oyster Stout and Smash Pub Ale. No that's not a typo, they add 100 pounds of oysters to the brew to add the salty flavor. Don't believe me drop by and ask for yourself. The taste of Smash was light, especially compared to the stout. Both delivered well as the type of beer they were. Mattie's is a nice place with many fine brews. Outside seating is nice on a day like today.

    Stout, it bad pricing either.

Pretty cool spot. Beer selection is interesting. The brewkeeps are pretty dope, friendly and welcoming. Nice esthetics, retro gaming station and chill husky :) I may return to try some of the other beers on tap, especially if I'm feeling particularly adventurous. They did have a stout that was def my speed (10%+, not syrupy and pretty flavorful). I also want to try the food (looked pretty good). Check em out if you are down that way.

I enjoyed this place so much. There's plenty of street parking, although you might have to park a couple blocks down but walking is nice! Once you are inside, you are greeted with a calm ambiance with candlelit tables, a cute dog walking around and a warm environment. In addition to long, large tables, there's couch seating and a gaming corner. I love the little fun touches such as a dressed up skeleton near the brewing area. There's wifi at this location and information is posted inside. The bathrooms are located in the back and easy to access, just ask the friendly people up front for the code. Of course after a few beers in we were hungry and ordered pizza. The pizza special was japeleno, pepperoni and hot honey. You can add pineapple on this. I highly recommend this place. I cannot wait to go back.

We're such fans of Mattie Groves! Not only is their beer great and affordable, the atmosphere is inviting and friendly! Once usuals at Big Stump, we were so bummed to learned they closed. When we heard Mattie Groves was opening, however, we couldn't be more ecstatic! We popped in twice over the past month and couldn't believe how different the place is! The owners really outdid themselves with the remodel. Talk about glow up! Not to mention they have an adorable resident pupper who hangs around! As for the beer, they definitely have a unique selection that rotates often. I'm just getting into the beer scene (late, I know!) so I'm not too familiar with their offerings. I do know that I tried a beer with elderflower?? That was great! Love this place!

Came in for Sacramento Beer Week festivities on a Thursday after work. The guy behind the bar was friendly and efficient. We started with the beer and pizza pairing and ended with some cookies. The beers were all great. Although I'm not usually one for a brown, I especially enjoyed it here. There's a small patio out front. When you come in, there's a small bar top and some long picnic benches. It's a good spot for groups. I'm sure we'll be back soon.

What a cool place to hang out and have great beers! Tons of board games available for all to enjoy. Better than that, the beers . Their Kolsch is on point.

Resident Doggo. She loves to howl, it's hilarious.

I've been here a few time's now both with my book club and with friends. The new owners are very warm, friendly and passionate about the beers they produce always willing to give you more information or even a sample to help you make your best selection. It's mostly picnic table seating but do have a cozy couch corner you can snag as well. They have a couple games you can borrow which is fun. They will be hosting a monthly singles game night which I'm looking forward to checking out. The resident doggo is a beautiful husky that loves people and if you howl will join you, it's hilarious. I have tried the Marzen and the Farm House Ale and both were delicious. I'm hoping they do add ciders eventually for the gluten free and cider enthusiasts.

Oak Park brewing has many options of beers to choose from but something I want to really highlight is none other than their children's menu cheeseburger. I am the owner of 1 extremely indecisive toddler who will say he wants 1 thing and breaks out in tantrum when that 1 thing he asked for comes. But fear not! Let him be indecisive and choose diaper bag emergency gold fish and I can enjoy the kids cheeseburger ( comparable to the OPB Burger, hold the veggies), Burgers here are cooked beautifully. Pair it with fries and a tasty beer and you'll be in a happy place. Enjoy their patio with plenty of space to spread out and ample seating or get some of that AC inside. Parking is on the street and when that area is busy, you have to loop the block. Overall Oak Park Brewing is a great spot featuring a great lineup of beers and bites for all.

Parking: Free street parking (2-hour limit) Kids and dogs friendly!!! They also brew their own beers locally!!! The owner is an Army veteran with 27 years of service, which is reflected in the identity and pride of the space. The brewery also won a 2025 California State Fair Gold Award in the commercial craft brew competition. The unisex restroom is even called the "Latrine," staying true to the military theme in a fun and intentional way. What to Order: * Presidio: West Coast IPA (6.7%) * Fog of War: Hazy IPA (6.7%) * Colonel Concord: Seltzer (5.2%) They also offer 4-pack and 6-pack mix-and-match to-go options, which is a great bonus if you want variety. It's a community-focused brewery that hosts scheduled events, such as Thursday trivia nights. There is also food trucks on occasional events!! MURAL: One standout feature is the mural, officially titled "At Ease Brewing Co. Mural." It was created by Glen Warren, creative director at Sacramento-based Commuter Industries. The artwork blends a mid-century modern and space theme, featuring stylized rockets and celestial elements. It complements the brewery's vintage military vibe while still feeling playful and inviting. What I really appreciate is that the business gave the artist full creative freedom rather than forcing a strict military theme. That generosity shows in the final result: it feels authentic and visually striking. As the artist shared, the goal was to create something bold, simple, and joyful: an "Instagram hotspot" that brings a moment of optimism, especially reflecting post-2020 sentiment. Overall, it's a well-thought-out space with great beer, strong identity, and a welcoming community feel.

So look closely at it for the time slot so you know if the table is available. Eating is outside. So if you have allergies or weather isn't to your liking, this is NOT the place for you. They have a lot of shade space. However, the infrastructure that brings shade makes the place loud (think echo chamber). To order, there's a QR code on the table. I liked how this was easy. The only odd thing was that when you order, you're ordering from different kitchens, which I didn't know when I placed the order. So when we ordered burgers and pizza. They came out at different times. We ended up getting some BBQ because only the burgers came. When I followed up with someone they said our wait for the pizza could be anywhere from 30-60 mins (). That seemed long for a personal (small) pizza. By the time the pizza came out, we were done with everything else. Pizza was good though, BBQ too. The burgers were okay. It's pretty chaotic here. I would've picked another area to eat but wanted to check it out. I didn't even take photos because we were so hungry by the time the food came. I think this place is more for vibes than food. It's a good place for a group wanting drinks and eats or families needing space for kids to run around. It was just too crowded and loud for my liking.
