Came in at opening at 4pm on a Friday. We were the second group there. The last time we were here it was called Midtown Gastro Pub. But they removed one of the names recently lol. We ordered at the bar (they also have a QR code ordering method) we ordered the California BLT (regular menu) and the happy hour Irish nacho fries and a happy hour Paloma and beer. Our order taker was friendly and helpful. The BLT was loaded with bacon and the bread was crispy!! The fries loaded with cheese and bacon YUM! The beer and Paloma were great too. So happy that the food has not changed. Still as good as last year when it was Midtown Gastro Pub Will definitely keep this on our radar whenever we are in town. Parking could be a bit of an issue but we were able to get a front metered spot today. read more

I reserved tables for my husband's birthday, and Jordan made the process very easy. He was very helpful and professional throughout. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and provided great service. The food and drinks were also great. The upstairs rooftop with the DJ was a lot of fun and had a great vibe. The only downside was that the bar service upstairs was a bit slow since there was only one bartender, and you can't bring drinks ordered downstairs up to the rooftop. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and would definitely go back. read more

Cozy outdoor table and seats as I walked past by. I took a second look and went inside. It's a beautiful comfortable sports bar with tables and chairs spread out. Love the interiors & the warm welcome of Mark! He was so fast in letting me know what's fast and not! It was happy hour and I got the &5 mozzarella sticks that was served in less than 5 mins flat I had to get something quick because I had an appointment. Sacrament has one shining star on the menu, and it's the fish tacos. I've had them multiple times, and they're honestly a staple for me. The white fish is tender, chopped, and mixed with little bits of crispy batter in each bite. Topped with that avocado salsa? Very impressive for a bar/brewery menu! I'd come back for the tacos alone. That said, it's hard to ignore that this place is a brewery, and the beer is really disappointing. Hence the three stars ): Everything I've tried has a kind of generic, flat taste. I have waited over a month and read some of the other recent reviews before writing this one to make sure I wasn't just in my head about some stuff. The service we received here was SO up and down, mostly down. It was by accident that we came to eat here. I am still unsure if the rooftop restaurant here is a different business or part of the same one.However, that's where we wanted to go originally.Because it was closed.We ended up eating here in the downstairs bar.We were greeted right away and explained that the rooftop lounge was up the stairs and didnt open for an hour. We were politely offered a place to sit and wait and have a drink until they opened.The bar was clear and inviting. The set up here works. Not a bad looking place. Instead of taking a table, we opted to sit at the bar. As soon as we sat down the bartender literally threw two coasters at us and asked us if we needed a menu. We told him this was our first time here.And yes, we did indeed need to take a look at a menu.He handed us two menus and literally ten seconds later asked what we wanted when we looked at each other he said...do you need a moment which we did. Literally a minute later, he came back and asked if we had made a decision. We still have the menus in our hands. And we were still looking at the selections so yes, we needed some more time. A couple minutes passed and we put the menus down and waited for him to come back to take our order. But this time, about 1015 minutes passed. And he did not acknowledge us, though he did walk past several times in the meantime, he spent his time talking to other workers talking to customers at the front of the bar. But ignoring us another bartender came up to us and said if we needed help, and we did, we gave her the order. And she got it started for us. It's still another 10 minutes. Our original bartender came up and he asked if we had made a decision. We had told him that somebody had already taken our order. And he left. This man was so standoffish. He would rank as one of the worst servers I have ever dealt with. It seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder. And either did not like me or my companion, but there was something off as when we were watching him interact with other customers. He was totally engaged with some yet. He did also ignore others. More issues arrived when the food finally showed up. The jalapeno paupers= were dense and they were not very good. The burger also was dense and not very good. We didn't order anything else other than these 2. Items in which we shared, I had water to drink. And my water cup sat empty for most of the meal. When the hostess finally walked by and asked if I needed more water, I said, yes, instead of refilling my cup or bringing me another glass. You brought me a plastic cup of water with no ice pricing. Here is also on the higher side. For what you're receiving, I do not recommend this place based off of this one experience though reading other reviews. It seems I have a singular viewpoint. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was modestly busy. Parking was a real challenge. Every parking space/lot close to the business was full, so I ended up street parking about 4 blocks away. The interior looks clean and has three levels; a bar and kitchen on street level, the brewing area in the basement, and a roof top bar. There seemed to be only three people working, a bartender, a service person delivering food and cleaning tables, and a cook. When I tried to order at the bar, the bartender explained that he was the only one to take orders and asked for my patience. As I waited for him to serve others, several more groups came in and sat down. Although I didn't really wait a long time for either food or drinks, I felt bad for the staff being so limited. Plus the fries I ordered were cold when I got them. Tried a flight of beers, which consisted of 4, four ounce pours. To their credit, everything I tasted was clean and correct for the style. I think the place has great potential, but the lack of staff is killing the possibility. Not sure I would recommend based on my experience, but because the beer was good, I might give it another try. read more

Came here for lunch. Didn't realize that they are now Sacramento Brewing instead of burgers & brew. We wanted to enjoy the nice spring air so we opted to side out. The server gave us some menu and told us that we order our drinks & food at the bar. The food came out fast we didn't have to wait long. I am looking for good beer, good food and great people - I got more than expected when I went here. Can't say how many times I have passed by this place but so glad I finally took the time to stop in. My partner in crime and I wanted to catch a rooftop vibe on a beautiful Sacramento Saturday but to our disappointment the upstairs establishment didn't open until later. We did however decide to enjoy this place and it did not disappoint. Much to our surprise this location has two or three different establishments ( the rooftop is a different business). I digress.... After deciding to stay I noticed some people on the patio had flights, so I decided to go with the crowd and enjoy one as well. I told the server what type of beer/cider I enjoy and her recommendation did not disappoint. We had a nice brunch on a Sunday morning in Sacramento, after that we wanted to watch the Sunday football games . My girlfriend took us here and it was the perfect spot for Sunday game day ! Walking in it was decorated really nice with TV's everywhere and a huge bar in the middle is it all . They are a brewery so they have their own beers but , they also offer other beers on tap . They also have wine and cocktails. We had just ate so we did not order any food that day . We really enjoyed watching the Sunday games here . The staff was really nice and attentive. I am in the Sacramento area at least once a month to visit the Viewpoint Gallery. We always have a meal either before or after the show and reception. They seemed to be closed on Sundays during the pandemic. I am not sure if they were open other days, however, they are open now with a more limited food menu and a full beer menu and cocktails. You order at the bar and they being the food to your table. They have outdoor dining. We also have eaten on the roof, I am not sure if this is open, they don't seem to have much of wait staff midday on the weekend. My go to on the current menu is either tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich or the spicy bacon cheese burger. The burger is served with fries and a pickle spear. There are a lot of jalapeno slices on bun. I usually take some of them off, I like peppers, but I want to taste the meat. The burger is enough for two meals. They ask how you would like the meat cooked; my rare was not really that rare. The soup and sandwich is also enough for two meals I only order it when I am hungry, soup is too hard to take home and so is the sandwich and came with fries or a salad. On our last visit K had fish and chips he said one piece was over cooked and the other was fine. We also ordered poppers I like the, the dipping sauces was very thin. There was enough of it for me to dip my fries into I am not a beer drinker I usually have a Manhattan. It looks to me that they have and extensive beer menu. My first experience here was on roof top was nice very cool atmosphere misters and all. After a few drinks my gf and I got some food to try and sober up... even as buzzed as we were, we realized how bad the food was lol. Today was our second time here and the last time was maybe a few weeks ago. We came back because we really liked the ATHENA beer. We got here at approx 9:20pm and it was hot as f in there. As a flight attendant just in town for a layover, this place is a gem! I always love to find a good brewery and it checked all the boxes. I've been here a few times since this place changed to Sacrament Brewing from Burgers and Brews and the service has just not been great. We recently went to watch a Sac Kings playoff game and they only had 2 people working the bar on a packed Thursday night. We had to wait almost 30 min just to order a drink. A friend ordered some appetizers and overall the food but just greasy and sub par. There is a lot of space here and I think they could do a lot more with it especially if they had better service. The food was great and the drinks were better. I ordered a bacon jalapeño cheeseburger that came with fries and my fiancé ordered a pepperoni pizza. Burger was tasty the only small detail was that the fries were a tad too salty, but overall great meal. Pizza was cooked well and the pepperoni was abundant (loved this!). The drink selection is fantastic. They have just about every liquor you can think of as well as their own craft beer selection and regular draft options. I ordered a flight of their craft beers and would definitely recommend doing that. Their holy water seltzer was fantastic. The daily bread was fantastic if you're a fan of stouts. The service was great. There was a bit of a wait to order, but to be fair we came at the busiest time of night (on a Saturday nonetheless lol). Staff was polite and friendly. You're forced to stand in line to order food at the bar yet there's people who sit down at the bar and get service before the rest of us in line. I sat in line for 30 minutes and moved maybe a foot forward. Gave up before ordering because I figured even after ordering we'd be there another 2 hours since we never saw anyone's food or drinks being brought to them. I have been to this place a few times. However, after a certain experience, I do not want to go back. Long story short, there was a guy who was overly drunk (spilling all over the place and not standing straight up) and was trying to take this girl home. It got to the point where my friend said something to the security guard, who saw it and agreed it was inappropriate but did nothing. At some point, I go over to the girl to ask if she's okay and help her go to the bathroom and get her back to her friends. After we made sure she was okay he sat at our table and made us widely uncomfortable by saying inappropriate things and spilled 2 drinks in front of us. We again ask the security guard to remove him after his second spilled drink and they do nothing. We ended up leaving but what is the point of security? I do not want to go places where security allows people to creep people out and sit at tables they do not belong to. This place had a lot of potential and I had much fun there before this wildly uncomfortable experience. read more

First time here. Babe chose it. We walked. Dion was our bartender, he's perfect. We are both in the service industry and appreciate a real professional. Burgers and brews burgers are always on point. Spicy jalapeños burger and the BBQ burger with fries ... was so good. We could have shared one meal and of course did not. Happy hour 3-7 so we had to try jalapeños poppers... If sitting outside, you will have to order inside at the bar, which is no problem, but just be aware if you need anything, the service often does not come out, so you will still have to go inside. Yelp and google state that the Brewery are open until 10p on Sunday's. Arrived at 8:30p and were told to order soon since the kitchen was closing. We ordered food and drinks then the check came out immediately. Within 5 mins of receiving the checks (910p) the patio lights were turned off. I went inside to ask if the lights could be turned back on then was told the closed at 9p. I said on google and on Yelp it said 10p and the hours were not posted on the door, so I would need a box to go. I received my box, packed up my food and left. Given the location of the brewery and having homeless people asking for money and food, I no longer felt safe with my group sitting out there with the lights off. We left our beers half finished and left disappointed. I'm not sure I would go back, especially with out of town friends. The website link on Yelp gives you an error, so you will have to google it. We stopped by for some beer tonight around 8:30pm... Me and my friend decided to sit at the bar. We grab a seat. We see two female bartenders and a gentlemen. It's a slow night. It wasn't as busy. As we were siting and waiting for them to acknowledge us , they did NOTHING!! she walk pass us 2x. The first time she didn't acknowledge us or say "hi I'll be with you soon" she didn't say anything at all! She was wearing a brown dress drinking her Red Bull by the register where we was sitting at. Wasn't sure where I was going to go for dinner but my co-worker had the right idea. She made me come here with her because she ate here before and wanted me to enjoy my meal in Sacramento. We sit at the bar and are instantly greeted, I don't recall his name but he was wonderful and gave us great advice and conversation. I don't drink beer but I do love a good cider, the menu had apricot cider on it but he let me know that they stopped that one and switched to a pear cider. I was a little disappointed until I tasted the pear cider. It was smooth and so tasty.. my co worker decided on the Gallagher's IPA (which she also loved) and was glad that she took his advice. Now the food, I decided on a Turkey burger with cheese, and grilled onions and garlic fries. My burger was delicious and juicy and those fries well they were very garlicky but oh so worth it... my co worker got the bacon jalapeno burger with onion rings. Slightly confused as the street address is shared with Burgers & Brewhouse so we weren't sure until seeing the Sacrament Brewing banner in the window and above the stairs going down. (Edit: We were walking from 18th so didn't see the obviously huge Sacrament Brewing mural on the side of the building facing 16th, lol). Party of 6, tried out most of their beers with our different orders. My favorite was the special release "Bride of Mango-Stein" version of their beach blonde, ABV 6.5%, flavors of mango and lulo fruit. 5-ounce pours available for most beers for $3 each, the Mango-Stein not included. We also had the Hibisky, Sac-Religious, Waka-Waka DIPA, Redemption, Stuck in the Mud Stout (x2), and Rapture Imperial Brown. The only beers we didn't try were the Beach Blonde, Biscuits n Hazy, and Gallaghers IPA. They also have guest taps, guest ciders and cocktails. The "Tis da Season" apple vodka+cranberry drink caught my eye too. This was just the first stop after Bloody Mary brunch en route to At Ease. They also serve the Impossible Burger, desserts, rooftop brunch and mimosas. read more

This place has an excellent selection of beer and a friendly staff. The food is good but more along the lines of greasy pub food (which isn't a bad thing!) It's a good place to watch a game and the service seems really good although twice I have had a problem with checking out. Once was during a shift change and the other time I just had to wait 20 minutes to get the attention of the bartender but they were busy so I am not judging them on that. I just think you should know you might be there a while if it's busy. There is a big parking lot next to it so you can almost always find parking as long as there isn't an even at the Memorial Auditorium. Go and try some great beers! read more

FANTASTIC brewery! We visited this place for the first time on Columbus/Indigenous People's Day and I was pleasantly surprised. The location is fantastic (16th & J) and the artwork on the building facing 16th St is beautiful and draws you in. Once I got to the front door, I was blown away at the size of the restaurant/brewery and we were greeted by a few friendly faces. It's a tri-level building and you walk into the Burgers & Brews Restaurant but you immediately know that downstairs houses Sacrament Brewing Co. I was drawn to the speakeasy vibe of the basement brewery so that's where we spent our time. John was behind the bar and he was absolutely amazing! He was very passionate about the beer and he let us taste a few before we made our decision. He even introduced us to the brewers who were working while we were there. The beer was delicious and they have a great selection, everyone should have no problem finding a beer that they will love. Although we were not there for the food, just know that you can order food from the brewery/basement level. Good food + good beer = Happiness! Everything about our visit was fantastic and we cannot wait to bring our friends in. FYI, when we walked in, we saw a sign that said that the rooftop doesn't open until 6:30pm. I'm not sure if that's the case every day. We will definitely be back to enjoy food and beer on the roof! PARKING: there's a parking lot adjacent to the brewery/restaurant but there's a fee. There's also metered parking on 16th St, which is likely the most cost efficient option. It didn't look like they had a private parking lot. read more

After a show at the Crest Theater last night, I heard that this new brewery on J Street was open until late. (I'd known nothing about them previously, so this would be a new adventure of the brewing kind!) My first impression upon entry was that the design of the facility was of open, high-ceiling modern industrial. Very ~not~ claustrophobic. The long lines were appealing and shiny. There are multiple levels, and the brewing tanks are tall enough to extend beyond a single floor. The bartender was great about making us feel welcome. As we perused the beer menu, he offered to let us taste some of the ones that we were curious about. He was pretty genial and let us have some minutes to sample and discuss among ourselves what we thought of the beers. The 3 different versions of the brown ale were what caught my eye. The regular, the bourbon barrel aged, and the one with coconut flavor laced into the matrix. While each one was pretty good and and progressively sweeter, I opted for the regular brown ale, available in only 5 oz chalice pours, because it's a 9.1% beer! We'll be coming back to Sacrament Brewing again and again, I can foresee. I like the place. I like the beers. The menu looked great. (Check out the photos that I posted of the food selections) I'll be updating this review after I try the food menu. Niman Ranch patty burgers sound scrumptious. *Edit- I returned the next day during Happy Hour with a couple of friends and we all ordered the Niman Ranch hamburger with house salad on the side. There was some bit of confusion which resulted in a delay in the kitchen getting the food out on time, but our server kept us in the loop and we didn't feel forgotten. The burgers were really tasty and lean. I'd definitely order it again in the future! The salad we all got were nicely presented, but the freshness of the lettuce was a little disappointing. I'm wondering if someone tossed the dressing in to soon too long ago, and the lettuce wilted too much since them. I think I will think twice before choosing salad as the side dish next time. Maybe just try the fries, instead. Another thing that I noticed that with all the flatscreen TVs mounted everywhere, you couldn't help but know that there was a football game happening somewhere. The sound was turned up high enough that having a dinner conversation was difficult. I realized belatedly that maybe we should've gotten a table upstairs or downstairs. It might've been nice if the server had asked if we wanted towards the game, and if not, guided us to a quieter part of the restaurant.
