My last review of 2022 goes to a very deserving Four 41 South BBQ. I've been hearing and reading on Yelp many good things about Four 41 South BBQ. So I needed to see for myself and give it a try. I must say, that everything I read and heard about them was true. The sliced brisket plate was amazing. I've never had brisket so soft and tender with an amazing but not overpowering smokiness. The bark was crunchy and full of flavor. And the pulled pork with their home made BBQ sauces ... it melts in your mouth. I had to sample all the home made sauces and went with the peach and sweet / sassy sauces. Amazing. Their white sauce was voted number 3 in the country! Sides are all home made right there. Mac and cheese - Creamy and dreamy Potato salad -Just like a Sunday picnic Baked Beans - Not to thick not to sweet. Just perfect Cole Slaw - Fresh, Crisp and couldn't get enough. Lol. I would say best BBQ I've had. And that's saying something when you live in Georgia. I'll definitely be back. And might do a catering as well. read more

Now this is real barbeque ! Four 41 South is an OTP hidden gem but not for long! This pit to plate bbq place represents all things Southern comfort foods and honestly, there's just little to no competition nearby. First, I have to address the fact that their specials are always creative. The current (and former) chef have developed recipes undreamed of, I'm always astounded at their uniqueness and ability to switch the menu regularly. It's rare to miss the previous special because they continue to outdo themselves. Secondly, love that their family-oriented. The wife, children, and fellow classmates are all involved in the business. The staff is very much close-knit and Kevin does a great job keeping the business connected to the community whether that's with his support of the local precinct, collaborating with local food brands on a menu item, or just keeping us up to date via social media. I appreciate that we're aware of what's next because they remain active. Lastly, their branding is great aside from social media. The restaurant's Southern, retro theme is subtle but I love it! They're quite busy. That said, if you want to get your teeth in a special come early because they usually sell out and bring your appetite because some portions are collosal. My only criticism is wait times can be lengthy, it's not every time but I've waited as long as 20 minutes. They have apologized and acknowledged long waits. Despite them being a few years in the business, they're still working on streamlining. I find that the waits are worth it but if you're pressed for time, order ahead maybe 30 minutes rather than 10-15 for pickup orders. I'm excited for the good things to come at Four 41 South! I'd love to attend a smoking class, and I can't wait for the breakfast menu to become a regular thing. I'm sure they'll outgrow their first location or at least find a second in a few short years. Coming from Big Bob Gibson territory growing up in Decatur, AL, I'm a BBQ snob with a chip on my shoulder (North Alabama hickory BBQ and white sauce are rarely included in American BBQ cuisine lists!), so I'm tough on BBQ joints. This one has consistently delivered excellent food, and it's one of only two restaurants where my wife will eat the ribs because of how easily they fall off the bone. They also do a BBQ potato that's so good I even eat the potato skin my wife leaves behind. To top it all off, we always get our Thanksgiving turkey breast from here with the gravy, which is why I was SHOCKED to find that after four years of eating here I've not yet reviewed it! read more

Solid bbq place and certainly the top choice in the northern burbs. I had takeout from them during the pandemic and was lukewarm about the food at the time mostly bc the brisket wasn't quite up to snuff imo. This time we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and had a much better experience. We caught them early ish right before the rush and while it did take them some time to acknowledge and then take our order, we did appreciate the knowledge displayed when sharing my wife has a gluten allergy. They were able to call out exactly what she couldn't have and also requested a change of gloves for the kitchen staff putting the order together. We opted for a full on sampler platter to split and the portion was pretty generous. We also appreciated being able to split the 2 pint sized sides into smaller sizes and ultimately went with potato salad, collards and baked beans. All 3 were quite good and the kids especially loved the potato salad. Meats wise the ribs really stood out. Brisket was a #2 as it was a bit more fatty than we would've preferred but neither side asked or confirmed so it's whatever. Pulled chicken and pork were good but not necessarily exceptional. Really liked the sauce dispenser and appreciated the unique flavors (the peach based sauce really stood out). All in all this place is legit and we'd gladly go back. read more

I preface this review with we are from Texas and my husband cooks amazing brisket, so we're bias. THAT BEING SAID - this is a very cute little place. Like a lot of bbq places, there's a line to get your food and then you pick your own table. It's a decent size place, but not very big. It is space accommodating, so there aren't too many tables squeezed into the smallish space. Their brisket is not terrible, but a little on the drier side (we like ours with more fat parts mixed in and juicy). Their ribs are alright. The Mac and cheese, grits & potato salad are all really tasty, but they all are a little heavy on the pepper. The staff is SUPER friendly. For knowing that we're Texans, the server had a great sense of humor and gave us these cute little stickers that said "you're from Texas, no one cares". Cuz I'm sure a lot of Texans say this place is mediocre bbq in comparison (cuz Texas does have the best). If you're not a snobby Texan, I'm sure this bbq will be amazing for you cuz it wasn't too low on our scale (and that's probably pretty high for normal non-Texas scales)! read more

Fantastic barbecue brisket! Very good flavor and moist. They are very cooperative in answering my questions and providing suggestions about their menu. While not fancy, the building was clean and nicely decorated. We loved this place! Brought our soon to be daughter-in-law, who had never had southern bbq. The brisket stole the show, soooooo good. I enjoyed the pimento cheese grits while my husband enjoyed the coleslaw. Our son ended getting a point of Mac & cheese to go since he loved it so much. I am a BBQ connoisseur. I travel always seeking the best BBQ anywhere, and I give my original and truthful food reviews. I'd heard about Four 41 South BBQ for quite sometime. I drove by once just to see where it was several months ago, but then I forgot about it, until today. Today was the first time I've been here to enjoy a meal here, and enjoy it I did. I ordered a standard pork plate. 1/3 lbs of very nicely prepared smoked pork. It was very lean. I began the experience with the baked beans. I've always thought my wife's baked beans were truly unbeatable, but these beans truly may rival hers. Though I'll never tell her. Next, I went for the potato salad. This was very interesting. At first I wasn't sure I liked them, but it quickly turned my opinion. I think I wasn't prepared for this truly unique experience. Besides the standard potato's, and mustard there was something else. I think it was a good dash of pepper and pickle juice. I like them. I'll have them again. I followed the salad with the palette cleansing purple onions and homemade dill pickles, in anticipation of the pork BBQ. Nice! The pork was perfectly smoked, tender with no fat or gristle. The sauce I chose was their standard sweet sauce. It was smooth. I finished with the Texas toast and a sweet tea. Very nice. Very nice. Will return. read more

I want to start by saying I was reluctant to visit Four 41after reading a review & reply from the owner on here. While companies do rely on positive reviews to bolster business, the man who left the review is entitled to his opinion and doesn't need to be a professional - if he is capable of tasting food, he can offer his personal criticism of it. I felt like the owner's reply was a missed opportunity for excellent customer service and he chose to insult someone who could've happily come back in to try other items that might've been more to his liking. But my husband said we should go anyway and we are SO HAPPY that we did! We shared a Sampler Platter which is enough for a family of four to easily try all the good stuff. The pulled chicken is the best chicken I've ever had, regardless of preparation, just the best chicken ever. I'd recommend the white sauce with it if you feel the sauce is necessary at all. The pulled pork was also top tier. Truly, everything was on another level of delicious. The macaroni & cheese is made with penne and somehow it has the amazing crust of a baked mac & cheese but the creamy sauciness of a stovetop version. The homemade pickles were awesome and I was glad to stick those in our to-go box as well. I can't wait to go back and get our new favorite barbecue again & try other sides. We loved the Georgia Peach sauce so much, we brought a pint home; my husband might just drink it if I don't watch out... While I may not agree with the owner's public relations methodology, I cannot deny that his kitchen is cranking out tasty food. At one point, in the throes of meat euphoria, I thought "I dunno, maybe that guy on Yelp should just get a slap to the head because this is amazing!" Like, it's THAT good. Our family frequents this locale often for some of the best BBQ offered in the Greater Atlanta area. I especially enjoy their juicy brisket. It comes off so tender and tasty that even someone like myself with a dry, irritated throat during allergy season can enjoy this special treat. The owner doesn't suffer fools, whether it be a rude, abusive customer or staff that didn't show up ready to shine. I appreciate that he runs a tight ship and loves what he does for a living as it shows in the offerings that are presented to his innumerable loyal customers. Unlike most BBQ restaurants, he offers an Alabama white sauce, along with many other great sauces, and it is a standout. This is a great local BBQ spot. I've tried the pork, brisket, mac and cheese, potatoe salad, cheese grits, and banana pudding. All the sides are top notch! As for the meat, the pork was pretty good. It's served a little dry but the complimentary sauces are really nice. Especially the white BBQ sauce. I can't get enough of that sauce. The last time I went I had the brisket plate and was given the option of ordering it fat or lean. I did 50/50 which was recommended. The fatty bits were quite nice but overall it felt a little dry. If I ordered it again I would try all fat. Does this place compete with the elite BBQ of Austin? Not really but it's still good and priced fairly. Service was extremely good. Very friendly staff. Seems like everyone working wanted to be there. The ambiance and vibe could be better. I'm not an interior designer, so I can't give great feedback but it feels like a restaurant that is new and recently put together compared to an old rugged bbq spot that has a unique vibe. Oh my gosh, y'all! We drove from Acworth to be here on a Thursday burger night. So worth it! They had several burgers to choose from including the special advertised on Instagram plus their regular menu. It's a cute building in a nice area - would love to dine outdoors on a warm day. The smells from the parking lot will make you drool. The restaurant wasn't super clean if you are a germaphobe or OCD about clutter, but I didn't mind since they were headed off of a rush. It felt like a family gathering - tons of locals obviously regulars, including the owners (who both stopped to chat with us), family, friends, and police officers. It was slammed, so I won't complain about how long we waited for our food; it was a LONG wait. But once we dug in, we knew why everyone else was there too. The burger meat was tasty, the pork so smoky and tender, the sauces great, the buns and proportions perfect. The baked potato had a spicy sauce but nice flavor. Be aware that there are no fries here - so strange! But the baked beans were perfect, and the mac & cheese was just how I like it: soft noodles with a cheesy roux and lots of pepper. A perfect spot to gather with friends for a solid meal out. Make sure you get there early cause tables are picked up quickly and tend to host a stay between 45 mins - an hour. The food is fantastic with various specials that allow for mixing and matching meats or having a sandwich, side and a drink. The pulled chicken sandwich was my favorite with a bit of the sweet & sassy sauce that has a bite but is oh so good! Mac & Cheese was delicious as were the green beans. Portion sizes are good and pricing felt right, service at the counter was fantastic as was the food walkers delivering meals. Great BBQ!! I had the brisket, lean and 2 sides. My brisket came exactly like it should. 3-4 sliced pieces, with a little bit of fat to trim off the side. Fall apart good. Not too much seasoning or salt, just right. The platter was a very good deal and I came away full. Cheese grits were on point, and BBQ baked beans as well. Small place in a very nice plaza. I had a good friend staying in Cartersville, so I looked for someplace in between he and I. This one had some interesting reviews, and nearly all raves about the food. They weren't wrong. I ordered combo, brisket and chicken with sides of Mac and cheese and coleslaw. My friend ordered ribs. They asked if I liked the brisket fatty or lean. I asked for 50/50. The brisket was amazing. Likely the best I've had. My friend said the ribs were done to perfection, and very meaty. Neither of us needed bbq sauce. Service was great. Met Kevin, the owner. He's not only a genuinely nice guy, but has a true interest in the people who visit. They don't have a ton of seating inside, and outside is too warm in the summer. The wait can take a minute because they do a lot of takeout business so be patient. Lots of bacon and sour cream and cheese. For 14$ this was not a good by compared to JD's in downtown Acworth that has a potato that is double this size with more meat for 12$. And if you want something bigger hit up Big Shanty (but the potato is on served on certain days) The pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese The sandwich seems small bit barely had more meat than the "light" lunch portion of the slider. Mac and cheese was Meh. The lighter potion pulled pork Is a small slider style sandwich. Again okay. All the pulled pork seemed wet and dry at the same time. It would appear my new neighbors have low expectations for BBQ, and likely have never had good BBQ. This place is Pricey... but, so are the best bbq places. The problem is this is some of the worst bbq I've had even outside of Texas. I mean dry and God Awful. I don't know what the reviews are about, but this doesn't deserve to be called BBQ. So far, community bbq in ATL is better, and Queenies, Al though a different style is also better. If this place had opened in Texas, it would have been dismissed immediately. Just Bad read more

PARKING - I was able to find a spot right away but I can see it may be difficult when it gets really busy as it's in a shopping center. Not a deal breaker. ATMOSPHERE - The smell off BBQ when entering was beautiful and was very clean and inviting. One thing that was odd to me was how quiet it was. I know that means good food as everyone was eating but it felt like I was in a library with no music or any noise whatsoever. I can imagine a loud talker having a meal here would be heard easily by every table but again I was there for the que and would rather have it quiet vs a bar feel with over powering music and can't hear our conversation. If everyone is quiet while eating than you know its a good place. STAFF - Very friendly and approachable. I could tell the people in the back were listening to my order and started prepping it before I even paid. The urgency and attention to that alone stood out. Food was brought out to our table with a smile right after we got our drinks and were just started sitting down! Crazy fast! It was 11:30AM and not super busy but I feel a busy day would be just as good. I got the impression the staff enjoyed working there as they seemed to be working together as a team and sharing the work. FOOD - The brisket sandwich and mac and cheese were amazing. I loved that they asked if I wanted a lean cut or fatty cut and I have never been asked that at the 100's of BBQ places I have been to. Simple little details like that stand out. The brisket was thick, juicy and had amazing bark and flavor. The bun was perfectly toasted. My son loved his pulled pork potato and my brother and his wife enjoyed the ribs. They looked amazing. (not my brother and his wife, the food). The sides were really good. I even had a few helpings of their collard greens and this yankee has only eaten these by accident once in my life. PRICE - I feel it's more expensive than Shane's or another chain type place but can't put this place in the same category. You expect to pay more for this type of food and its not over priced for what you get. The portions are good. THE GOOD - The drink station having code red was amazing. - Many flavors of BBQ sauce available without having to ask. - Love the fact they have napkins at the tables and silverware. - BBQ flavor, the smell, the size, everything about it was great. - The service, cleanliness and the pride they put in to their food. I read the posts on Friday saying "kicking off the weekend" or "burger back on the board today"...I guess I didn't realize they mean literally only "today". I could and should have called to be sure. I'm still a little confused on the smashburgers and who Matty is. It doesn't really matter as long as I can get one of these one day. The brisket belly and bacon rib posts also made it sound like its always on the menu and if it was available I didn't notice. I see the digital menu board but I didn't catch any specials on it. Not a real big deal as all the food is good but with the wording to be "today only" or "Friday only" would help people like me who use their stomachs to read. -The website looks great but I really wish I could see the menu outside of normal hours. I would have liked to see the options and a menu but the website forces you to see the menu when "ordering" during normal business hours and can't read it late at night. I didn't see any other place to see a PDF menu and didn't think to check yelp pictures for a menu. Also I would have liked to see the rubs online and different options as the picture on the product page shows them in the background but you can only view apparel and the classes online and cannot order the rubs and sauces. There looks to be a "view all products" button but it does not work. They may not know but feel if this worked I may have picked up a few items while I was there and didn't want to view these things while in line with people waiting behind me to order. While visiting the area, my husband surprised me by picking this Bbq restaurant for lunch. This was a big deal...because its usually me researching and determining where we go. I love the idea that he took the time to research and find this gem! When i saw the smoker outside and smelled the bbq, i had high hopes! :) Upon entering you order at the counter, lots of yummy options....so hard to decide. I chose a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. It was so delicious!! Oh!!! and i loved the bbq sauce options. I believe the owner told me they had won some bbq awards and they make all of their sauces and i believe they sell some too. Peach flavored sauce...yum! My husband had the brisket. He liked it alot.
