Well I had lunch here two days in a row. Saturday I had the Salad picador (chopped salad) Although I normally prefer a "real Chopped" salad, the flavors were spot on. The half salad was really enough for two. I love the clean taste of the food. The people are awesome here. My husband had the pork sandwich & loved it! Today I had the grilled chicken sandwich & it was good although I can't see getting it again, because it wasn't what I expected, but I LOVE the side salad. My friend had the quinoa (YUMMY) & the fish burger. OMG! That is the real winner!! The fingerling potato salad is the best I have ever had. They had these amazing vegan mexican chocolate cookies that I will dream about!! This is my new favorite place. read more

This place is amazing. I lived in Eaglerock for a while and still drag out of towners to Colorado blvd for the amazing resturants the city has to offer. Being new to the Colorado blvd food fare, I thought I'd try Four Cafe. I think they had just opened so it wasn't very busy. The service was very friendly and the owner took care of us herself. The fish burger the tastiest thing that I've ever put in my face. Only to have its title taken by Four's veggie burger. The deserts are also uncomfortably good. The lavender cookie is amazing, it has a very floral taste with a nice balance of salt and butter. And the peach cobbler is killer. Came here today and tried the Seasonal Living Salad (massaged kale + grated root veggies + avocado + lemon vinaigrette). I love me some kale, but tbh I just ordered it cause I've been slacking on the veggie intake these days. I was really pleasantly surprised though, cause that salad was delicious. The flavors married together nicely and masked the bitter flavor of the raw kale pretty well. Plus, it was a generous portion. I got the half size and it was big enough for two. My only gripe would be that there wasn't enough avocado. That seems to always be the case for me, but the salad seriously only had just a few measly cubes. But I would still order it again. That salad had me scarfing down raw kale, and that's something I hardly ever do. Maybe just BYOA? Oh yeah, staff was really friendly also! read more

I love their pulled pork sandwich with mandarin orange slices in it. The pulled pork is very very tender. And the bread is this swirly brown bread...don't know what it's called, but it's so soft and chewy and toasty. And their salad is so fresh. I think about this sandwich every 3 days. Ive tried the lemon pot de creme and butterscotch pot de creme. It's good, but it's too sweet for me. I don't end up finishing it. I've also tried their corn/coconut soup with radish topping. It's a little spicy with the peppers in it, but it's such an interest mix and taste. I'd recommend you try it, it's good :) It's pricey, but then again it's organic. My husband had a football game in Eagle Rock this morning and I was starving. So, I found this cafe on Yelp! I waited a little long for a to go order, considering people normally take food out when they don't have time to dine in . The food was AMAZING! We had the breakfast burrito and vanilla bean French toast. I'll say it was worth the wait. Now, on the other hand, they don't have the breakfast menu posted. So needless to say. I had decided what I wanted to order by the POSTED menu. Then, I was told they weren't serving food on the posted menu for another hour. This can be a little frustrating when you're pressed for time. I will chalk it up to them not having a lot of to go orders, because the two guys I dealt with were great. There are some hits and misses, but mostly I like this place. Fresh, seasonal, local (I think), and casual...good combo. And not too pricey, but not super cheap either. I always look longingly at the desserts, but still haven't tried one yet as I am always too full after my meal. Highlights - fish burger: delicious and filling! Right amount of char/cheese/sauce ratio. - meatloaf sandwich (I got it on brioche bun): soooo good, I was craving this the other day, but when we went in, it was no longer on the menu :( bring it back! - Salads are almost always delicious, and huge. Lowlights - swiss chard rolls on the appetizer menu, they weren't bad, just ok...would skip this for dessert next time. - and I haven't had a soup from here that I LOVE yet...but I'm willing to try again. This place is outstanding. First-rate sandwiches, salads, and desserts. All healthy and freshly made and the service is excellent. You order at the register, take a seat, and they bring it to you quickly. We've tried the cauliflower chick pea soup, tortilla soup, chicken panini, roasted turkey sandwich, egg salad sandwich, chick pea salad, beet salad, and the ginger snap cookie. I have always wondered about this place and a friend suggested we go there for breakfast. I wanted to try most of their breakfast menu but settled on the breakfast sandwich which was made with two over easy eggs, cheese, garlic aioli spread, and arugula grilled between multigrain bread. I opted to add bacon to the sandwich which came with breakfast potatoes. It was delicious! I ate the whole thing down to the last potato. They serve Jones Coffee, which I love, and I took a donut muffin to go for my husband. The donut muffin was amazing! It was like eating a soft snickerdoodle cookie, my favorite kind. I want to return there to try their lunch/dinner menu as it looked just as yummy as their breakfast...with a donut muffin to go! read more

I always have a positive experience here. The food is excellent, and worth a little pricier tag. Yesterday at lunch really blew me away, though! The gal who served me was so friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent - recommended great choices on the menu. (Fancy ham and cheese sandwich and cranberry ginger soda - a DREAM for lunch!) And everyone who came out to my table to serve was friendly and helpful and just all-around fantastic! The idea of this place is far better than execution and costs. I love to cook and eat healthy, but it's never a good sign to think you could make the food at a restaurant better and cheaper than they could. Tried a couple of times. Had the Mahi-Mahi burger and it was dry. Tried their tortilla soup one night when I was craving that dish and didn't have a few hours on hand to make it. A little weak on flavor. Love the idea of sustainable food and a changing menu to reflect the seasons, but needs improvement on taste and price. read more

I've been eating here for the past eight years. They vary the menu a bit as the seasons change, and it can be hit-and-miss at times, but the fish burger is always reliably delicious; you can always find at least one yummy soup or salad; the portions are quite generous; and the ingredients are consistently high-quality. I often stop in here when I'm in the neighborhood, even if only to grab one of their delicious home-made cookies. I did prefer before they introduced table service. I hope they go back to the old style where you order at the counter. Staff and service are always good. It does get crowded during meal times, particularly lunch. I've been going to Four Cafe for a few years now, and have had a wonderful experience each visit. My favorite items are the Green Goddess salad (seasonal) and the veggie burger on gluten-free bread (note the patty itself is not gluten-free). The veggie burger is one of the best I've ever had, super filling and so satisfying to eat! It's definitely a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of ingredients is worth it. I've been here a few times. The food is consistently good healthy, and quick. The staff is always friendly. It's a little pricey for counter for delivered tableside, but that's the state of things these days so I don't mind too much. I would definitely return. Close enough to Dodger Stadium that we came for a pre-game bite and a few drinks to avoid the overpriced offerings at the stadium. read more

I honestly can't believe I've never reviewed Four Cafe. We order / pickup from here at LEAST once per week and are always super happy with our food. Our kids love the plain bowtie pasta with cheese (our son actually also requests the broccoli on it) + the grilled cheese. My husband and I change our preferences as the menu changes seasonally, but always love the salads (chickpea, greek, picado, etc.). We also adore the fish burger as it's always 'in season'- it's truly outstanding. Big fans. Love that we can now order through Eat24- much more reliable for this restaurant than postmates or door dash....(+ much more economical!). read more

First off; I must say that I'm glad to see that gentrification has made its way to this area of Eagle Rock - there was a time in my youth during which I would've been stabbed in the neck while making my way to Camilo's down the street. This small bistro has some definite pro's which mainly consist of the menu and the staff. This place is run by a younger couple and the enthusiasm is conveyed in both their demeanor and their obliging attitudes. The menu is mainly comprised of some fun salads and sandwiches; augmented by frequently changing soup varieties and garnished with some baked goods. This menu is perfect for lunch but left me wanting a bit more for the dinner hour. However, I will add that I was extremely satisfied with the uniqueness of the selections that I made - Kale and broccoli salad with nori and roasted garbanzo beans, a citrus salad, pea soup, lemon cake. Perfect selections for lunch but my wife voiced a similar opinion while evaluating her own meal. It should be noted that there is limited seating but the turn-over rate is rapid enough to facilitate the queuing area. Also, although they don't presently have a wine or beer list, they are in the process of acquiring their liquor licence (which will really help bring their menu together). I DID, feel like I needed a five-o'clock shadow, a pair of black rimmed-glasses, and perhaps a beanie. The place couldn't scream "INDIE" loud enough. Almost too much (a distracting amount at times)...but all of the patrons who entered wearing their, "look! I belong to a counter-culture in an evolutionary neighborhood" clothes, made for a humorously mock-tastic people-watching event. Whether you're Indie or just a conventional "joe", I recommend this place; If not for the fun dishes and delicious baked goods, then for the support of an up-and-coming neighborhood and a couple that truly takes pride in what they feel they can offer the community [culinarily and alike]. I went to Four Cafe with my girlfriend last weekend and had a good experience. I ordered the roast beef, which they were out of, so I ended up getting the chicken panini instead. It turned out great, because the chicken panini was fantastic. Great flavor. My girlfriend had the veggie burger which she loved. As a side I had the spicy kale, which wasn't very spicy, but was pretty good all the same. The homemade soda was good as well Nice environment, good food, interesting menu. Wow, since my original visits to Four Cafe when it opened last year, it's gotten even better. The salads are now packed full of delicious stuff and the menu presents great options: you choose your salad (i.e. the veggie combo that sounds most delicious to you) and then add your protein (choose from one of four available choices: tofu, chicken, smoked albacore and Niman Ranch steak). The absolute winner is the roasted veggies salad with the addition of steak. Where do I start? Everything in this salad works amazing: the crunch of the roasted veggies, the creaminess of the goat cheese, the roasted pepitos, the creamy quinoa, the delicious steak and most of all - the absolutely irresistible mint dressing!!! That dressing would work in any salad, but it compliments these particular salad's ingredients beautifully and takes them to another level. I know their menu is seasonal, but I hope they never take that salad off it. I've had it more than four times already and I haven't had nearly enough yet!!! read more

I've been wanting to try this place out for a while since I always see it when I work out across the street. I arrived for an early lunch since the space is not big and they seem to fill up very quickly. I can see why it fills up so quickly. Four Cafe is a lovely casual eatery. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I really like that all their ice teas are unsweetened. I had the combo: red lentil soup and pulled pork sandwich. Both were yummy. Red lentil soup is a creamy blend of lentils, onions, tomato and chilis. I really loved the small amount of heat from the chilis and a splash of yogurt added a nice tang as well as improve the presentation. This was a rich lentil soup. Pulled pork was served on grilled rye bread with orange segments, onions, arugula and Gruyere. Rye bread doesn't sound like an obvious choice for pulled pork, but in this case, it worked. Both the rye bread and country mustard added a nice counter balance to the sweetness from orange segments and citrus dressing. Onions tasted like they were dressed with an orange juice-based dressing. The sandwich is almost Cubany in its flavor profile. I love sloppy sandwiches, and this definitely was a knife and forker. I'm looking forward to a return visit to explore more of their menu. This meal was a solid 3.5 stars; with such a promising start, I rounded up. read more

So so so good. They have the best salads here! The salads are huge (even the half salads are enough for a meal) and incredibly satisfying. I don't find myself getting hungry again a few hours after eating a Four Cafe salad. I have tried soups and sandwiches here as well, which are generally good, but nothing compares to their salads. As the menu rotates seasonally it's always exciting to see the new offerings. It is a little small and often crowded, but I've always found it to have a nice atmosphere with helpful servers. read more

Does anyone really love frisee?? But I do really love arugula! Not cheap but never disappointed. Really cute cafe right in the heart of Eagle Rock. I called in to order for pick up on noon on a Friday. They answered right away and I had a great & easy order experience (usually I hate calling for pick up but he had such an upbeat personality that I was excited by the time I hung up the phone). I ordered the roasted asparagus sandwich with mixed green salad and the Jamaican jerk sandwich combo with the cous cous. The combo is getting $1 off the side price - no drink. The wait for pick up was 20-25 minutes. When I walked in, their dessert case caught my attention with all their cookies/brownies/vegan choices. I'm a sucker for cheesecakes so I decided to try their vegan cheesecake. I was able to add it on no problem and the total for my meal for 2 was about $31 (yikes!). Both sandwiches were really tasty. I loved the Jamaican jerk - my only complaint was the ciabatta bread was a little tough. The side mixed greens was literally ~1 cup of mixed greens with some dressing - my boyfriend didn't really like it. The cous cous though was amazing. Finally, the cheesecake was pretty good for being vegan - a little tangy with a carrot cakey/nutty crust. I was full after half the sandwich, half the cous cous and half the cheesecake. Overall, I would definitely come back. It was really cute inside and it's in a great location. The workers were really friendly and helpful. I got the chipotle chicken sandwich w/ avocado. It was a very delicious sandwich. Highly recommend. The atmosphere was very laid back with a younger staff working. Very clean place. I visited on a Sunday afternoon so there was plenty of seating. My favorite part was the big jug of water (. 50). No need to get up and refill or have to wait on a waiter. Came here with my wife to enjoy a Friday afternoon snack and have to say the food and service was good overall. I ordered the tortilla soup and it was delicious and savory. Nice balance of spice and creamy goodness with homemade Seward crunch chopped tortillas on top. One a rainy day it would have been even better. In addition the chicken had that free range organic taste. I was very impressed by the amount of time and thought put into this simple meal. Next my wife ordered the living salad with half salmon and it was so refreshing and delicious. The salmon was nice and pink with a great taste. And the dressing was a nice balance and reasonable size. As for the price like any popular hipster place it was a little high but when you have a lot of retarded hispsters coming and eating here because it's "cool" you can charge a higher price. The menu offers something for almost everyone, including lots of gluten-free and vegan options (this is LA, after all!) The service wasn't stellar, but it's an order-at-the-counter, first-come-first-served-seating kinda place, and the food was really yummy. We ordered the breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, black beans, avocado salsa, cheddar cheese) and housemade granola and yogurt. The pulled pork and egg sandwich sounded incredible, as did the lemon ricotta pancakes, but both were unavailable by the time we arrived!
