Love this place and I just got here. It has a relaxed ambience and is really chic and modern. Ordered a lemon poppyseed muffin and a iced vanilla latte with almond milk. My coffee came quick and was not to sweet and not to bitter just the way I like it. They have a nice playground for kids to play on so you can bring your kids while you get your work done. read more

Stopped in on a rainy day with two kids in tow. The playspace is otherworldly; I've not seen anything like it before. It was a busy Wednesday afternoon, maybe 20 kids in the space. Not crowded, but enough kids where I had to look out that my nine year old didn't run anyone over. I'd say the upper age limit is about eight or nine; anything bigger is too much for that space once the velocity goes up. Onto the coffee haus portion of the experience. I'm an americano drinker and the one I was served was top notch. Prices are upper tier but the decor (straight out of Architectural Digest), makes it feel appropriate. Coffee and snacks were just ok. Prices for kids area are astronomical. I was shocked and walked out embarrassed. The business seems to have put looks over function. The coffee shop is gorgeous, but $27 for my kids to use an indoor, minimalist play area for less than two hours? I've seen the owner defend the prices before. The most aesthetic-pleasing coffee shop ever. The idea of a coffee shop and a kid playground is a genius business plan. For parents who like to go to coffee shops to work or parents who like to socialize over a cup of good coffee and pastries, but also have to watch their kids, this is the place to go. Inside the shop, there is a massive playground for kids to play. I believe I read it was $12 per kid (but don't quote me on that) which is not bad at all especially there is someone inside the enclosure to watch the kids while the adults do their adult duties. The barista was super nice, we came in 12 minutes before closing because I thought the shop closed at 6pm instead of 5pm, and she was not irritated at all and super kind. I always feel bad when I go into a store right before closing because employees tend to be irritated. I highly recommend this shop located in downtown San Rafael if you have kids or just need a good cup of caffeine. I also noticed in the other reviews for Fox & Kit, the owner engages with them. Through his replies, I can see that he and his wife really put their heart and soul into this beautiful place of business that they created. I admire their work ethic and their want for their investment to be successful. Ok. So I decided to give this place another visit and I'm so sorry I did. I ordered a Chai and it was barely warm! The barista heated only the chai part and dumped the milk in cold. I didn't say anything figuring it was busy and so maybe she was just trying to rush things. I had also ordered a hot chocolate for my daughter. When I got it the lid was half on. I went to close it and the chocolate squirted out of the straw all over my arm. No biggie I just figured I'd ask for a towel and have her dump a bit out so the lid could close. When I went to the counter to ask the lady behind the counter threw a dirty towel at me. I then asked her to dump a little as my 3 yr old needed a lid and she snapped at me!! The customer service here is severely lacking. So my experience this time was a drink I couldn't finish, dirty tables, and a terrible attitude from the barista. No thank read more

Fantastic indoor play space for kids. Appropriate for kids 2-6yrs but they allow up to 11yrs old. They even have a separate place for infants but you should bring a few toys for them because it's just an empty area. The best for moms is the coffee is great and the pastries delicious! You do have to pay an admission for the playground but definitely worth checking out. read more

If you want a comfy place to grab coffee with friends, this is also your place. If you want to grab coffee with friends and have children you have to bring along, this is THE place. I love this place and my toddler loves this place! The staff are super kind, especially the manager/owner Devin. Their drinks and food are absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is beautiful, it feels like you are in a magazine! The attention to detail is amazing, all of the for here cups are gorgeous. Everything you order has a great presentation. Even the counter where you milk and sugar to your drink is pretty! Okay now for the indoor playground - AWESOME!!! I was SOOOO wanting this to become my new away-from-home home office, but I was incredibly disappointed on many levels. Fed the meter for an hour, hoping I could get a little work done while my kids are at preschool. Walked in and ordered a decaf latte, was told the machine was broken and they couldn't make a decaf espresso drink. Huh? Ok, I'll get a chai latte instead, which was $6.50. Thought to myself: Wow - this must be the best chai latte in town!! Used the bathroom only to find out that there wasn't any soap. MmmmK. Grabbed my drink on the way back from the bathroom and grabbed a table. My first sip was weird; the chai was extremely bitter, almost like it was burnt but also gritty and hard to swallow. Ugh, maybe I just need to get through a few sips... I'll give it some time. Opened up my computer to start in on some work... NO WI-FI. I go ask the baristas, and turns out they don't have wi-fi because they're trying to encourage a social atmosphere. Ok, I get it. but I just drove downtown, found parking, fed the meter, paid $6 for a disgusting chai latte, and now I can't get a little work done?!?! I checked a few emails on my phone while trying to get every penny out of my $6 chai latte, but I just couldn't anymore - there really was something wrong with it. The barista offered to make me a new one but at that point I had already lost precious time (work from home moms will understand), spent crazy money for a horrible drink, and still had to get stuff done before picking my kids up from preschool. Really unfortunate experience. I love the kid play space and the concept as a whole, but it is really lacking in so many ways! (and to the owners, as a side note, when you encourage parents to bring their kids to a coffee shop, having more than a one hole bathroom is imperative! if somebody is using the bathroom and your kid has to urgently pee.... what is a parent to do??) read more

Such a beautiful space. It is comfortable and beyond chic. Brought a friend and the owner was so kind and welcoming, he brought us our drinks and answered all questions. And the playground was phenomenal. Innovative, whimsical and one of a kind. Gorgeous costumes, too! The attendant played with our kiddos the whole time - it was amazing. $15 is a steal! Had a chance to meet the wonderful owners, a husband and an expectant wife. Got the scoop on all the efforts in designing this really neat place from the beautiful coffee area to the amazing indoor playground, the time and effort really shows. My dtr spent a solid 2 hrs in the play area and their staff played with her the entire time, it was amazing for her and us sipping coffee. love this place! I have been in 4 times already! So happy Fox & Kit has arrived. It's adorable and bringing some much-needed pizazz to the area. amazing design work. comfy and cute, yet entirely functional and inviting for kids. Love the big communal table and really love the idea of no wifi and trying to inspire communication. (coming from a device junky that needs a break) Service is great. Everyone working there has been very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I have 2 kids and cannot wait for the play area to open. it looks amazing. Even the bathrooms have been designed with every detail - i love the extra touch with the kids seats available and even providing diapers in case you've come to realize you are out. The only thing missing for me is gluten free goodies. and icing on the cake would be reading material for kids to look through. read more
