    Is dog allow?

Unfortunately no. Its against the county of Marin health department rules. But we do have outdoor seating and a water bowl for dogs. Many dog owners sit outside with their dogs. Thank you for being a considerate and responsible dog owner and asking… Read more

Do you offer vegan or gluten-free pastries?

Unfortunately no we don’t. But we do have gluten free cookies.

Do parents have to be in the play area with their children?

Only if the child is under 3 years of age.

How much is it for an hour in the play area?

Hi Courtney, thanks for asking. We charge a flat rate for 2.5 hours of play and only enforce the time limit when we are packed to capacity to allow those waiting to get their playtime as well. Our current rates can be found on our website. We also… Read more

Is there wifi? Google Answers says yes.

    Yes we do!

Would you recommend this place if you're just looking to sit in a nice coffee shop and don't have kids?

Yes - absolutely. It's beautiful, friendly and while there may be kids in the play area it's a separate closed off room so it doesn't feel invasive if that's not your vibe.

I ordered an iced mocha with oat milk during a busy time and waited about 20-30 minutes. While I was waiting, I noticed several customers who ordered after me received their drinks. I went up to the counter to ask about my order, and the cashier seemed confused. The barista remembered making my drink and believed someone may have accidentally taken it since there had been a drink sitting on the pickup counter for a while. The barista told me he would remake my drink and even offered the drink to another customer instead of discarding it. However, he continued making other orders before remaking mine. Just as I was about to ask for a refund, I finally received my coffee. I understand that mistakes happen, especially during busy periods, but better communication and order tracking would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, my first experience left a bad impression. As much as I liked the atmosphere, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this coffee shop based on the service I received.

Comforts sits right in the heart of downtown San Anselmo, with a small parking lot next door (very handy). We opted to skip the sit-down café and grabbed a to-go salad from the marketplace instead. The small size is $10, which feels reasonable until you look around and realize everything else in that to-go area is... let's just say Whole Foods looks like a bargain by comparison. This is premium Marin pricing, full stop. But back to the salad -- it absolutely lived up to the hype. All the components were fresh and crisp, but the real star is the sesame-ginger vinaigrette: savory, sweet, and tangy all at once. Add in the satisfying crunch of peanuts, and it's the kind of salad that makes you understand why people drive out of their way for it. Comforts has been a Marin institution since 1986, and one bite of this salad tells you exactly why. Just go in with eyes open on the prices -- and maybe don't browse the marketplace too long if you're on a budget.

I request tea with milk and it arrived without milk. I had to ask twice before the milk was delivered. The food came with no silverware - literally no way to eat! Again, we had to ask two servers and wait while they took checks to other patrons before giving us the silverware. All the while I had to watch the entitled of Marin demonstrate their ignorance and poor treatment of others (including people literally walking into the store and not holding the door for a pregnant mother with a stroller). From the (lack of) service to the entitlement the experience was awful. Don't waste your time.

The scene is very '70s hippie like with bad art indiscriminately placed with no sense of aesthetic. A bit of a cleanup is in order and a little more attention to detail could spruce it up.
