Deviled Eggs and mango chai latte
    Jonelle W.

The food and service were amazing. I would definitely recommend. The mango chai latte was creamy and delicious. The deviled eggs were not as delicious as they are hyped up to be but they were good. The lobster rolls were worth the price.

If you are searching for a brunch spot in KC that feels special with a beautiful location then Union on the Hill is definitely a spot to consider because Simply outstanding and easily one of the best lunch/brunch spots in the city. I selected Union on the Hill for my birthday lunch, and i am so glad I did. I enjoyed the light drizzle and crisp air while walking to the restaurant which felt just like a movie scene lol. The atmosphere inside felt modern yet cozy, with large windows showcasing wet streets and passing traffic created a beautiful backdrop. It felt intimate, warm, and perfect for a relaxed date. Restaurant had plenty of sitting and a beautiful bar. We started with the deviled eggs trio (Flavors - celery smoked bacon, cured smoked salmon, and sriracha). Each flavor was distinct, but the sriracha deviled egg stood out for me with just the right heat. The soup of the day was a red pepper bisque, and it was excellent.. bright, velvety smooth, tangy, and creamy without being too heavy. I paired it with a toasted brioche bun and it elevated the whole soup experience. For mains, my husband ordered the S&P breakfast with perfectly cooked savory eggs loaded with meat - simple and hearty. I got the the Hot Mama chicken sandwich with multi grain bread - it was juicy, tender, lightly breaded chicken beeming with flavors. My absolute comfort food! Service was attentive without feeling rushed, and the subtle Christmas decorations added warmth while keeping the modern vibe alive. It is definitely a perfect choice for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner to dine casually or for a special occasion. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!!

If you're looking for an elevated, flavorful brunch experience in Kansas City, Union on the Hill is a must-visit. Located at 2976 Gillham Rd in Kansas City, MO, this spot absolutely lives up to the hype. I had heard so many great things before going, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The brunch menu is impressively diverse, with something for everyone. It was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. We started with a vanilla oat milk latte, which was perfectly made -- smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. For starters and mains, we tried the smothered biscuit, dill caper deviled eggs (including the sriracha version, which had the perfect kick), buttermilk fried chicken, the chicken and waffles three-way (beautiful presentation and incredible flavor), and the vegetarian quiche of the day. Every single dish delivered on flavor, quality, and presentation. You can truly tell care goes into both the food and the overall experience. This has officially earned a spot on my list of top brunch spots in Kansas City. Highly recommend for a weekend brunch date, girls' brunch, or when you just want to treat yourself to something delicious. We discovered this gem last year during Restaurant Week; it's safe to say that we've returned almost monthly since then! Every menu item has been absolutely delicious; the staff is pleasant and extremely friendly, and the ambiance is warm and quiet with the best music playlist! We recently tried their brunch for the first time...perfection! The best chicken and waffles in the city, hands down!

Trying the shrimp and grits at Union on the Hill today and they did not disappoint. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and full of flavor, and the sauce tied everything together just right. Great comfort food with a little upscale twist. The atmosphere up here is always a vibe too. Definitely a solid brunch choice!

Decided to hit up Union on the Hill for KC Restaurant Week ($50 for dinner)! It's a nice space at night - it's relatively dark to set the mood, but still can be more of a casual atmosphere. My starter was the Pork Belly Bites - which was crispy and tangy with the BBQ sauce. My main was the Seafood Lover, where the one scallop was super juicy and tender, the shrimp was indeed jumbo, and the salmon had good flavor. The seafood risotto was a nice base. I ended my meal with the Limoncello Cheesecake. It was pretty small and really I would've just called it lime. Overall, decent experience, the price is somewhat high for the potions, but I would come back to try their brunch options.

Great experience for Valentine's Day! We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in and saw the place spruced up for the holiday. It was our first time dining there, but the decor seemed new compared to the pictures. Everything we had was delicious, from the drinks to the appetizer to the entrees. Our server was also prompt and friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone for a good meal or a special occasion!

It was birthday brunch visit at my mom's request. Luke ended up being our waiter again. Still stellar service! Our party enjoyed all of our entrees down to the condiments on the side. Meal 1: veggie omelette with biscuit and house grape jelly, tea * my mom loved her omelette, the fresh ingredients and the biscuit was soft with a bit of cheddar. The house jelly was perfect, I mean it should be jarred and sold! Meal 2: Caesar salad, cappuccino, chicken & waffles * my cousin raved about having the salad in a prior visit so she could wait to get it again! She loved it just didn't see her Brussel sprouts slices she was expecting. The chicken & waffles surpassed her expectations, chicken crispy and seasoned well with good waffles with the various toppings! Meal 3: Crab Cake Melt & musket. So I was scared I'd not like this, but I chose so right. The sandwich was put together perfectly.. the lightly toasted bread, the crab cakes, creole remoulade, arugula and tomato was perfectly crafted! I could only eat one half of the sandwich so just know I was happy about that! I enjoyed it all over again later for my dinner! The fries are simple side but the house ketchup makes them better!

I came to try Union on the Hill for restaurant week and had a nice experience. I was surprised that it was a relatively small space because I've been recommended this place a bunch of times and it always seems busy. I tried the deviled eggs first, which were really good and all different. My entree was the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which was so delicious. You can't go wrong with cheese and lobster, and the ciabatta bread was super yummy. Finally I had the limoncello cheesecake. I have a massive sweet tooth and was so happy with my dessert choice! The vibes of this restaurant are super nice and the server was attentive. I paired my meal with a white Malbec which was a great choice, and I really liked it! Overall a good experience!

Came in for Sunday brunch. It was crowded. Decided to try something new. Diners rave about their lobster roll - all claw meat. So tried it and the house greens salad. Both were delicious. My friend had the corned beef has bowl. I don't eat beef but I tried a brussel sprout and Omg! He said it was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly over easy. All the flavors complement each other. For dessert we had the carrot cake with vanilla pecan caramel ice cream. A side of ice cream was kinda spendy - not sure it was worth $10 but it was good with the carrot cake. I like this restaurant. The ambiance is inviting and welcoming. Staff are friendly. I've dined here for brunch and happy hour. It is consistently good.

We came here for the KC Restaurant Week lunch special. I got the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and my boyfriend got the mac & cheese which was very creamy and had a really good flavor! Solid lunch spot with some other fun options that I want to try (lobster roll, risotto, etc.) Will be back!

The atmosphere is really peaceful. The drinks are on point and taste exactly as expected for these classic drinks. What really stood out is the food, especially the appetizers. Both the Bites and the Meatballs were packed with flavor. Highly recommend. The main courses were both filling and delicious. Highly recommend coming here. We will be back.

The Bar program is innovative with lots of unique house infusions, shrubs, and local products. Drinks were delicious ( Stardrop and Shrub & Bubs NA ) as well as the House Fries and Bone Marrow appetizer. For dinner i ordered The Half Bird Fried Chicken. I enjoyed 3 of the pieces, took one home and my date had the other piece. All 5 pieces arrived out piping hot, crispy, bone in and flavorful. I loved the herbed butter and skipped the other sauce as it was too spicy for me. The other entree we ordered was the Coulotte Steak. It was recommended Med-Rare and was perfect. Dessert was exquisite. We shared the Marshmallow Pecan Beiget. It was a single fresh made doughnut with a block of toasted Marshmallow. Our server Paige took great care of us all evening -- friendly, attentive, and helpful without hovering. Drinks were a strong start. My wife enjoyed the Rittenhouse Rye, and I went with the White Mezcal Negroni, which was a fun twist on a classic. We mixed it up more than usual with our food order. I typically go straight for the Smoked Pork Chop (and probably will again next time), but this visit I decided to try the Chicken Tagliatelle. No regrets -- just a reminder of how much I love that pork chop. We loaded up on small plates to kick things off: the Pickles, Potted Cheese, Mushrooms, and Carrot Soup. The "pickles" are more of a seasonal vegetable assortment than traditional pickles, which made them more interesting. The mushrooms and the soup were absolute standouts -- rich, comforting, and perfect for a chilly evening. For entrées, we ordered the Courlette Steak and the Chicken Tagliatelle. The steak had great flavor, though it came out a bit more done than the medium we requested. The chicken pasta was hearty and satisfying, and I'm glad I gave it a try. Dessert really stole the show. The Pudding Chômeur was easily the highlight of the night -- warm, sweet, and incredibly comforting. Total crowd-pleaser. The Almond Cherry White Chocolate Ice Cream was also a big hit at the table and a perfect way to finish the meal. Another memorable dinner at one of our favorite spots. Now let's hope my photos post this time.

I didn't have a reservation and was worried I wouldn't be able to be seated but I was by myself so I decided to risk it. The location stands out because well, there's not much else around, a parking lot across the street and not much else. I was offered seating outside and took it, not wanting to wait and where was my table but out front. I was worried that since I was the lone diner that I might get overlooked but my server managed to come check on me while heading inside to check his other tables while I got to enjoy the quiet and watch the sun set and while I had a fantastic meal. The top of the menu has their bread service, which I got and I ordered the tartare, and at the suggestion of the server the chilled corn soup. After having had KC style barbecue the past few days I wanted something a little lighter and was recommended the scallops. I'll start in reverse order here and describe my main. I've made the mistake of ordering seafood in landlocked states and paid for that error. I will wholeheartedly endorse ordering the scallops here, they had that fresh springiness, that light brine and I don't even like sweet potato but it just enhanced the star of the show. The chilled corn soup was also perfect-not overly sweet. I just got the taster but man it was so effortlessly good. A little meatiness from the crab, a bit of aromatics from the cardamom and a surprisingly brief sweet heat from the jalapeno. I love tartare and I loved how it was presented here with a wasabi tofu paste which gave it a little kick and yuba skin instead of bread was a nice touch. So, while we're on the subject, that bread. Oh man, that bread maybe I should fly into KC just for that. My friend was not wrong. On top of that I had their Polychronic cocktail which was like a tropical twist on a Manhattan which was terrific. Definitely the best meal I had in KC.

I can't believe I haven't written a review yet bc this place rocks my socks off!! The thing that blows my mind is that I've never had a bad meal here. We usually order 5-7 dishes here, and not a single one has been bad. Sure, we've had one, maaaaaybe 2 items where we were like, "okay, that was good but not amazing"--but it's rare. The first time I came here, I looked at the menu and was like, none of these words mean anything to me and some of these straight up sound like Harry Potter spells, but then the food comes and EVERYTHING tastes amazing. It's magical! The menu does rotate frequently, but somethings stay on for a while, like the cauliflower. Never have I ever been so excited about a head of cauliflower, but this one is just so delicious with the nuttiness of the almond slivers and the mild spices from the romesco. YUM. That's a dish you'll have to get! The cocktails are equally magical! The seasonal spritz is my go-to. Definitely don't snooze on the cocktails. They also have an interesting list of wines too, for those who are into some funky stuff. **They do have a sister restaurant called Anjin (which is supposed to be a "Japanese" Izakaya-esque experience) but as a Japanese person, it was a hard no for me. We ended up ordering two bottles of white and two bottles of red ($40-50 price range) and shared those between the six of us. We were also allowed to cork-and-carry any wine that we didn't finish. We ordered and shared the following appetizers: cheese & charcuterie, roasted red pepper hummus, crispy shrimp, pommes frites, and chicken shawarma. All of it was great - especially the chicken shawarma. Why this review isn't 5 stars: We were there to ask questions about different wine profiles and really learn about what we were drinking. This task seemed out of the comfort zone of our server, which we thought to be odd. However, there was another gentleman there (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) that really helped us out and steered us in the right direction all night. His recommendations did not disappoint. The other reason is that the rest of the menu is at a high pricepoint. We only ordered appetizers because of this. Overall - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. To start we had some furikake fries and shishito peppers. There are a lot of exciting and multilayed dishes on the menu, I think these two humble sides though really pack a punch and show that everything on the menu brings it's A game. From there the food ordering escalated as everyone in my group was over the top excited. The stand outs for me were, the dry aged salmon nigiri, the toro hand roll, the crab apple roll and my group was especially blown away by the scallops and are still talking about them a week later! Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and worth ordering every single time. * Crab Campanelli (11/10) - Absolutely incredible. Comfort food elevated to fine dining quality. If I came back tomorrow, I'd order this again without hesitation. Other highlights: * Filet (10/10) - Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavorful, and paired with perfectly prepared bok choy. Everything on the plate felt intentional. * Night Market Wings (8.5/10) - The quality was excellent. The sweet heat profile just wasn't exactly my personal preference, but that's purely subjective. If you enjoy spicy food with a lingering, slightly numbing heat, you'll probably love these. * Shrimp Tempura Roll (8/10) - Very good and executed well. * Tuna Roll (7/10) - Good, but it was the least memorable item compared to some of the standout dishes we ordered. Noka excels at creating a complete dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and several dishes that genuinely surprised us. For a special occasion, date night, or anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Kansas City, it's absolutely worth a visit.
