Last night, my husband and I dined at Union on the Hill for the first time, and I can confidently say it won't be our last! From start to finish, the experience was truly exceptional. The food was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding attentive, friendly, and professional, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a memorable night out. And oh my goodness, I can't forget to mention dessert! The carrot cake was hands down the best I've ever had. Love this place in the Union Hill neighborhood! I had to go around the restaurant a couple times before I saw the parking garage, which is very close and convenient. Came here with a few friends for lunch. They weren't busy at the time. Welcoming nice atmosphere. Loved the added touch of the cute little container of flowers on each table. We started out sharing the deviled eggs. Two with Sriracha, two with smoked salmon, and two with bacon. Loved them! Also shared the brussel sprouts which were good, but it seemed like it was missing something. I ordered the artichoke carbonara. It was very tasty and rich. I've never had bucatini noodles. It holds the sauce very well because they're basically like noodle straws. The egg on top was an excellent added addition to the dish. I really wanted a dessert, but I was so full after eating. Came for Mother's Day brunch and had an Incredible experience and meal. Our reservation was towards the end of brunch service so it was not too crowded and we were seated right away. Our server, Ashley (might be wrong spelling, sorry), was incredible and answered all of our menu questions like a pro. Food was excellent. Wife loved her crab omelette and my steak and eggs were perfect. We're for sure coming back for a date night soon to check out the dinner menu. There was ample street parking and we found a spot no problem. Could not have been better!! Seriously, it was fabulous. We sat in the bar, and was able to have great conversation, our waitress was spectacular and the food was phenomenal!!! No kidding!!! Each flavor was distinct, but the sriracha deviled egg stood out for me with just the right heat. The soup of the day was a red pepper bisque, and it was excellent.. bright, velvety smooth, tangy, and creamy without being too heavy. I paired it with a toasted brioche bun and it elevated the whole soup experience. For mains, my husband ordered the S&P breakfast with perfectly cooked savory eggs loaded with meat - simple and hearty. I got the the Hot Mama chicken sandwich with multi grain bread - it was juicy, tender, lightly breaded chicken beeming with flavors. My absolute comfort food! Located at 2976 Gillham Rd in Kansas City, MO, this spot absolutely lives up to the hype. I had heard so many great things before going, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The brunch menu is impressively diverse, with something for everyone. It was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. We started with a vanilla oat milk latte, which was perfectly made -- smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. For starters and mains, we tried the smothered biscuit, dill caper deviled eggs (including the sriracha version, which had the perfect kick), buttermilk fried chicken, the chicken and waffles three-way (beautiful presentation and incredible flavor), and the vegetarian quiche of the day. My starter was the Pork Belly Bites - which was crispy and tangy with the BBQ sauce. My main was the Seafood Lover, where the one scallop was super juicy and tender, the shrimp was indeed jumbo, and the salmon had good flavor. The seafood risotto was a nice base. I ended my meal with the Limoncello Cheesecake. It was pretty small and really I would've just called it lime. It was birthday brunch visit at my mom's request. Luke ended up being our waiter again. Still stellar service! Our party enjoyed all of our entrees down to the condiments on the side. I was surprised that it was a relatively small space because I've been recommended this place a bunch of times and it always seems busy. I tried the deviled eggs first, which were really good and all different. My entree was the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which was so delicious. You can't go wrong with cheese and lobster, and the ciabatta bread was super yummy. Finally I had the limoncello cheesecake. I have a massive sweet tooth and was so happy with my dessert choice! Came in for Sunday brunch. It was crowded. Decided to try something new. Diners rave about their lobster roll - all claw meat. So tried it and the house greens salad. Both were delicious. My friend had the corned beef has bowl. I don't eat beef but I tried a brussel sprout and Omg! He said it was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly over easy. All the flavors complement each other. For dessert we had the carrot cake with vanilla pecan caramel ice cream. A side of ice cream was kinda spendy - not sure it was worth $10 but it was good with the carrot cake. I like this restaurant. Union on the hill has become my grandma's new favorite restaurant. After burnt and Mac and cheese was removed from a former favorite's menu, I found this gem. Mema says the Mac and cheese is even better here. Plus, lots of GF and veggie friendly options for me. Always kind and accommodating staff, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere in a fabulous location. So grateful to have stumbled upon this establishment a few months ago. Our experience wasn't bad, but it was barely average. After we were sat down, one of the waiters put a dirty fork from another table down onto ours. We were very confused. Shortly after, a woman who seemed like the manager noticed, picked up the fork, and removed it from our table. As for the food, I ordered the lobster roll. I can't say it was anything to write home about. The beauty of lobster is the amazing flavor that comes through with fresh lobster. However, I felt that all I could really taste was the sauce they dressed the roll with (which was just on the verge of being too salty). I've had lobster rolls in Boston, South Carolina, and Florida, and I didn't think Union on the Hill did the lobster roll justice. I would most likely not go back, simply because there are so many other options in KC for good food. read more

Benedict had very little hollandaise and they charged $6 more for a gloopy tablespoon of extra sauce - without warning. Did I mention it was $25 before that add on? It was the crab cake Benny and the crab cake was in the middle of (not stacked with) two egg/jonnycake/hollandaise portions. The crab cake had a dollop of tartar sauce no bigger than a dime on top. In town for a game and this place was recommended by a friend who knows the area. It's a very modern, trendy place. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were attentive to our needs. They had a good selection of both food and drinks. Drink wise: we ordered a mimosa and a Bloody Mary to start then had a hazy IPA in can. We prefer draft but they only had 2 types on draft. Beer prices were fair- liquor drinks were $10-15 which to me is a little high for a mimosa. Food wise: we got a jalapeño cheddar biscuit that was amazing! Very soft and almost melts in your mouth. It was great with the whipped butter. For entrees, we ordered the corned beef hash bowl and the hot mama chicken benny. The bowl was huge! Full of potatoes, brussel sprouts, and plenty of corned beef. I took a box to go and the leftovers looked like it could've been 2 more meals. My husband gave the hot mama benny a 4.5/5 rating. Had brunch at Union on the Hill in the Hospital Hill District for the first time, and it definitely left a great impression. The space is bright, clean, and inviting, with a welcoming U-shaped bar that greets you as you walk in. Even though it was busy, we were greeted right away by a host and seated shortly after grabbing a drink at the bar. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they serve, and it shows. We started with their bread basket--more of a pastry basket, really--and it was a highlight. Think cinnamon roll, pound cake, biscuits, cornbread, and beignets, all served with housemade jam and butter. Most of it is made in-house, and it was a lovely start. Luke had the "Waffle Three Ways," which included mini waffles paired with spicy maple, hot chicken, and mascarpone whip--he loved it. I had the salmon toast, which reminded me of a smoked salmon Benedict but on brioche, with horseradish crema, avocado, over-easy eggs, pickled veggies, arugula, and tomatoes. Delicious and well-balanced. Despite how busy it was, everything came out promptly and the staff never missed a beat. The wings were delicious! They were moist, flavorful, perfectly cooked, came out piping hot, and definitely exceeded expectations. The Halibut was perfectly seasoned and cooked to my preference. The dish also came with seafood risotto and broccolini, which were nice accompaniments to the protein. Overall, it didnt blow me away, but it was a solid dish. The service was great and really stood out. The food came out quickly...not too quick to make you question it, but quick enough to demonstrate the food was freshly made and the kitchen is run very efficiently.
