Just went and saw "Olympus" with Morgan Freeman. What a great experience at the Fox Cineplex Theater in Banning, CA. They just upgraded to the new Sony Digital Cinema 4k projectors, which use reflective liquid crystal technology to create over 4,000 pixels horizontally, which Sony boasts is superior to theaters currently using digital technology that run 2,000-pixel projectors. And I have to say....the difference in seeing "Olympus" on this screen is like midnight and high noon! I sat near the front, which I usually don't....but nor strain on the eyes! For the price of the ticket...the Wednesday bargain shows are $3.00 per person, regular shows are $4.00 per each and shows after 5 p.m. are $6.00 per person. Where are you going to find that with what you're getting here? The treats...cheeper than any other theatre I've been to. Fresh and good. The owner, I'm told has been in the movie/theatre business all his life in one form or another. He loves the theatre himself and that's why he renovated this place to what it is today. And if you run into the owner, his wife or son while you're there, they will give you the run-down on its origan, history and the future. Easy access of the I-10, lots of parking. Great Job! P.S. This little theater is not only just adorable, but super comfortable and cheap!!! They play new movies, with ticket prices not exceeding six dollars per person! Inside there is a snack bar and a small arcade. Every time I have come here the staff are always pleasant and they keep it pretty clean. It's not usually overly crowded (even on a Saturday night). My husband and I are big movie buffs. We have always frequented theaters about 6-8 times a month and ever since we moved to Banning about 5 years ago we have loved this little Gem! PROS: Very inexpensive: the most you will pay for a Friday night premier movie is $6! Matinees are cheaper and Wednesdays are discount day which are even cheaper! (+ Buy 1 Large Popcorn, Get 1 Large Soda free on Wednesdays!) Concessions is equally as cheap. Most expensive thing I think they have is a Large popcorn, its under $5 and huge! (I think a small drink at large theaters is $5......) A huge variety when buying snacks, different size popcorn's & drinks, candies, ICEE's, nachos and hot dogs. They have many more soft drink choices than a typical theater and everything is always in stock. They also have me hooked on the popcorn flavorings you can add for free! They seem to always show the hot movies everyone is dying to see so you don't miss the newest popular movies and they release the same time as other theaters. Always clean! The screens are great color and sound as well. They have a newsletter which is very informative, they send it out every week with the show times for that week and the movies they will be showing in the upcoming weeks. They also send out a high value coupon! CONS: It is small and only has 3 theaters so going early and waiting in line is a must. My husband and I are picky about our seats and like to hit up the snack bar before previews so we usually arrive about an hour before our showing for busy days/times and a half hour early for days when we think it won't be that busy. CASH ONLY. The third theater is in the back of the lot kind of down an alley. May put some people off but I have never cared or felt unsafe. It is a smaller theater and screen though and is a little walk from the ticket booth and concessions. Since they only show 3 movies at a time they obviously don't show all the movies that are released so you may have to travel to another theater if you wanted to watch a movie they weren't going to show and really wanted to see. Seems like they don't ID for age for ticket sales. There are sometimes a lot of noisy kids/teenagers in adult movies. And for some reason I always get a fussy toddler/crying baby in my movies. (C'mon guys get a babysitter!) But that is not the theater's fault. My husband and I always get popcorn, soda, a pickle or an ICEE maybe and I don't think I have ever spent more than $20 including the tickets. On Wednesdays its more like $10 total!! They have spoiled us with their theater going to the bigger ones for twice the cost doesn't appeal to me anymore. read more

Went here last night at 6pm for a 7pm showing. Talk to guy who checks with Mgr -- he says: we don't sell tickets until 6:30. I kill a half hour, come back, and the box office guy says: We cant show that movie cause the projector is down. WTH? If that's the case, put a sign in your box office window! Say so on your webpage. This theater is a gift to the little town of Banning. With only three screens the movies change every week. A theater is only as good as the people that go to it. When you can see a major movie for about 5 dollars without driving 20 miles in any other direction that's a gift. The one thing I will say is the ... A lot of the customers are pigs. Help keep the place clean. Why do people think it's a right to leave all their trash on the floor? Help this lil place ... They keep the price down... Pickup you mess and throw it away yourself... It's you customers that leave it dirty... You are the dirtiest people I've ever seen in a theater. You get a 12 dollar movie for half price... This theater is ok. Not great, by any stretch of the imagination, but ok. Seeing as we don't have any other local movie theater options, this one is fine once in a while. Pros: low prices for tickets and foods. Cons: it's in Banning, the back alley theater is scary (since anyone can walk in there, and there are tons of sketchy people around there) and it's very small, cash only (hello 1980's). It seems pretty clean to me and the popcorn is pretty good. Perfect for going to see a kiddie movie (as long as you don't get stuck in the back alley theater). read more

I am giving this show 2 stars because they allow children in R movies without a parent present. They drop off their kids and the kids go into the R movie. I complained about it and they let them stay anyway. There was a kids movie also going on so why didn't they make them move to that one? What is the matter with parents of grade school kids allowing them to see R movies? That's how they grow up thinking violence is OK. read more

I love that this cute little theatre has all the kids movies opening weekend. I try to get there early. I like to sit in the back and unfortunately have had to sit in the second row with a child on my lap (Frozen on opening day). I got stuck in holiday traffic! I never carry cash, but don't mind a visit to the ATM to see a new movie for $4. I think the concession stand is also not overpriced. For $3.75 my kids get a small drink, popcorn and ring pop. My only complaint is that the bathroom is too small and poorly lit. My tip for bringing kids is to drag in their car seat. It is not staggered seating and it helps hold the seat down. read more

Horrible horrible. I took my children to watch the Jungle Book, for my 11 year old's birthday. I had to pay for my 2 year old who I've never had to pay for before when visiting this theatre. He doesn't even weigh enough to hold down a seat withoiht it closing up on him, but they made me pay, and then sold the seat he couldnt use to someone else. The manager told me there was no number for corporate and when i insisted he give me a number he told me i could make a complaint on foxcineplex.com... there is no section for complaints and no information on corporate.... The theatre is always dirty when I visit. I have never seen it ckean. I'm very dissatisfied and upset about the experience that I had. read more

5 star just because how cheap it is to see a movie in there. Theres only 2 or 3 rooms so only 2 movies ever get showed at a time. I have been going for 30 years and I love it--it just gets better. The employes's are so kind and courteous... and the sweet-deals on Wednesday are fantastic! I love the voice on the message machine--it is so explicit and clear..Ofcourse it was alittle to warm in there today. I go once a month with a group of friends like clock-work. I actually took my daughter there last month (??) to go see the lastest Twilight movie (i'm old, I don't remember the exact one??? vampire babies thats it) anyhow, she was like ok we can go there, but it was the day after its release, a long line, surprising cuz we got there just 15 minutes short of it showing time was able to get decent parking (in the back, they have a few small parking lots surrounding it) & was I glad I had cash on me (Cash only like the one reviewer stated), on the outside it looks like an old ghostown type theatre, on the inside, it was smaller theatre(s), I guess they are all the same size(??) but it wasn't that bad, I've been to worse if anyone from Whittier/Santa Fe Springs area remembers those $2 dollar theatres on Telegraph & Gunn, knows what I'm talking about, this place had way more justice over that/those stinky - funky rundown theatres....and yea the seating is like sorta cramped, you can't pass through the seating in front of people, not helping to step on their shoes, toes, hit their legs & as for the people trying to get sitting behind you, yes, you get bumped & hit from their asses too, while your bobbing in your chair like a shaking chihuahua ....lol, it actually made the experience memorable :) read more

This has been a great theater for me for years. The remodel helped the theater's looks a lot, and the seats are way better. The price is cheap compared to most theaters, though the snacks end up costing more than the actual movie (which is kind of depressing, seeing as though snacks are part of the movie experience). Today, however, a problem occurred. The theater I was in was airing a PG-13 movie and there were various young children in the theater. The movie itself wasn't the problem; it was the trailers leading up to the movie. Even though it was a PG-13 rated movie and there were little kids in the theater, an R-rated trailer with various sexual and bloody situations was aired. I don't know if it was a mistake that someone aired it, or if they are actually showing that kind of content at movies under R now. I personally hope that they will take care in knowing their audience has young children in it and not show R rated trailers/previews. read more

This may not be the best theater but I saw the screen fine. It was $4.00 for tickets before 5 pm $6.00 after that. With this ticket, large popcorn and large soda was $12.50. The theater in Redland would have cost 19+ dollars. read more
