Each piece have all those little crispy kraggle bits. You can taste the yeast from the beer in the batter. And it's a very generous portion. It also comes with choice of salad or soup All for $18! Surprisingly solid eats at a small local casino? Count me in! Emerald Island Grille, an Irish-themed spot with American food, is the 24/7 restaurant of Emerald Island Casino in Downtown Henderson. It piqued my interest that they take coupons from the casino which you can earn by signing up for their players' club. Upon gambling enough to earn their welcome gift, which was a bunch of coupons, I picked up a same-day voucher at their players' card desk and redeemed it for the Breakfast Skillet (listed at $9.99). With home fries-style potatoes, a scrambled/omelet-like egg canopy, melted cheese, bacon bits, and diced onions and green peppers, this is a really hearty breakfast. Just dig in and keep going until you're either done or feel like maybe you need to save half as leftovers. My choice of side with that breakfast was the biscuits and gravy, and it wasn't the best. The gravy came out a bit lukewarm and the whole thing was a little undersalted somehow, and the portion is smaller than you'd think for a cheap dish. I tried the toast instead on a separate visit, and it was not as mediocre. Oh, and the wedge of watermelon was fine. The casino started mailing coupons to me for free select entrees on specific calendar weeks. This week, they had a Blackened Fresh North Atlantic Salmon Asian Salad (inexplicably priced at $7.00). The protein was a very nicely cooked salmon filet with a decent level of blackening. The bed of mixed greens was fresh, the sweet citrus-y dressing was good, and the tiny mandarin supremes were a fun pop of flavor. If they'd offered maybe some sort of baguette slices instead of just crispy wontons, it could've been a more complete entree. I still liked it though. As with restaurants at other nearby casinos, checks are provided at the table but settled at the cash register near the exit. If you have a player's card here and gamble, you can earn some sort of points which you can use as payment. Waitlist is on paper and is overseen by a separate employee around that area; I've had waits ranging from 0 to 30 minutes. I'll likely be back to Emerald Island Grille regularly as long as they have food promos, or maybe even for their specials of the day if anything sounds interesting. It's affordable and convenient enough as a local option for folks on this side of town. read more

My wife and I got the Friday special with lobster tail, filet mignon, shrimp cocktail, soup or salad, vegetable and dessert. Having lived in New England for decades we weren't thrilled with the small frozen lobster tails or the bland tasting clam chowder I got. The shrimp cocktails were fine and the filet mignon was small but passable. The vegetable (green beans) was surprisingly good, but the spice cake dessert was disappointing. We had some time to kill after finishing some errands so we decided to stop in for a quick breakfast since it's right around the corner from our home. We were expecting a diner menu, and were seated pretty quickly after we checked in. The restaurant is actually super spacious, there are two split areas for seating. The only thing I noticed was the tables, booths and 1/2 booths are extremely close to each other so there isn't much privacy. The food didn't taste hot, or fresh, the bacon was burnt at the ends, we didn't get much service after receiving our food, so we had to flag anyone down for refills. Also, they give you a slice of watermelon with your food. I mean it's a great deal, but I'm picky over certain things, it's placed right on top of your food. It weirds me out when food does that! The entire food was an assembly, kitchen style feel, and I will not be back. Maybe their lunch or dinner options are better, or if you're hungover the breakfast will get you through. I've been here a few times now, and the food hasn't disappointed me yet. I always get some sort of steak just because the price is totally worth it. My husband tends to get something on their daily specials. This day, we also got coconut shrimp for an appetizer, which was good. The only complaint I do have every time I come to eat here is that some of the hosts in the front aren't very nice. Some make me feel like I'm bothering them when I'm asking a question. The servers do make up for the hosts attitudes. The servers that I've had were very respectful and helpful and a lot more cheerful than the hosts. The restaurant is a bit tight, but if you don't mind that this place is definitely a go-to. I will always go back here whenever we go to that side of the town. read more

We wanted to try this place since it's close to the ice rink. Food was reasonably priced. They had a lot of awesome specials but they started at 11pm and we got there at 10pm. We really liked the garlic bread basket with the marinara sauce. I got the sampler and it was good. The onion rings had a bit too much breading for me though. I got my wings with no sauce and they were yummy. The service was excellent and they kept coming back to check on us. So yes, we got plenty of refills on coffee. read more

Very nice! You have to walk through a smokey Casino to get to the restaurant (which is a negative). The restaurant is open to the casino (no door blocking the smoke from the restaurant); however, we sat in the back and it was VERY nice (no notible smoke). The prices are GREAT! And the breakfast was really good. It tasted better than it looked. If you are looking for presentation this isn't the place for you. So...craving some good cafe food with coupon in hand, we traveled to Henderson for lunch. Upon arrival, we found out that Tuesdays are half off for seniors 55 and up and military..so we did not need the coupon after all. Just sign up for the players club and then they will give you a voucher for half off a meal..up to 7 dollars, so you can pick something 14 dollars and below and get half off....well that is most of the whole menu..so SCORE! I ordered the Cobb salad that was HUGE..I could only eat half. Hub ordered the open face Turkey sandwich..loved it! This place is located right inside the Emerald Island Casino. The food is very good, the prices are very reasonable and I found the service to be friendly and attentive. The only negative is that the restaurant is somewhat small and cramped and it can be noisy. It also gets very busy here, so you might have to wait for a table. I did have to wait for a few minutes the time I was there and then got seated at a small table in a crowded area. They have a number of daily specials and it looks like everything there is quite tasty. For the money you really can't beat it if you are willing to deal with these issues. read more

The area to get into the restaurant to get your name on the list for a table is a bit tight and not real clear when you have people waiting to be taken to a table and those waiting to get on list for table. We waiting 20-25 minutes, not bad. We placed our order with a very nice waitress. The noise level in the restaurant is loud, we could hear what the guy on the other side was getting at the grocery store. Our food came out in a good amount of time. The soup was pretty good, my wife has the filet and I had the ribs. Both were very good. We've read some reviews and to me most reviewed this like they were at some elegant restaurant, it has a diner vibe but the food is better than a diner. Check it out. read more

If you're looking for a truly "Old Vegas" style coffee shop, this is the place. How I never ate here before now is a travesty, especially as a Vegas local who loves a good deal. This place was crowded with older folks and locals looking to get their bellies full for a low price, and it did the trick. There are daily specials, so be sure to ask. The regular menu is extensive and priced more than reasonably. You can get things like a $9.99 burger, fries and drink special every day, and the daily specials were fairly priced too ($13 pot roast dinner, $15 shrimp fajitas). The atmosphere is very old school and comfortable, with friendly and efficient servers. Our waitress was over 60 and looked like a career Vegas server, the kind that wears super comfy shoes, has a pencil tucked behind her ear, and calls you "honey" and "sweetie." Absolutely phenomenal service, and it added to the overall vibe of the place. We started with a chicken quesadilla, which was better than I expected. For just $8.99 (!) it was large enough to share and was stuffed with chicken breast , onions, peppers, and cheese. It was really tasty, sort of like a melty fajita. I wouldn't get an appetizer again, because the dinner portion sizes were massive. I'm a big eater, and this was a mountain of food. I ordered the lasagna dinner ($10.99). It came with two large slices of garlic bread (over-toasted and a little burned, which was a bummer) and was loaded with cheese. The lasagna was homemade, and it had those crazy delicious crispy edges that had baked in the pan. I saved those for last, and it was perfection. Really, really delicious. My friend had the 12" pastrami sandwich with fries ($12.99) and added a dinner salad ($1.99). The sandwich he was served was MASSIVE, piled high with meat. He went crazy for it and said he can't wait to come back. The fries were (surprisingly) quite sad and not even worth eating. You'd think an old school diner would have killer fries, but these were nothing special. The salad was such a cheap addition that I'll probably get one next time. It had artisan style lettuce (not just boring iceberg), a few cherry tomatoes, and croutons. Simple and to the point, but fresh and tasty. Sodas ($1.99) are cheap and they offer free refills! This is far from a fancy establishment, and I get the feeling that it gets very crowded during popular senior citizen mealtimes (I would avoid 4-6 pm, peak Early Bird hour)! We dined at 7:30 on a Tuesday night and got seated immediately. Don't let the location turn you off, or you'll be missing a good, solid, Vegas diner. I have been curious about Emerald Island, but never made the time or effort to go visit. We heard about their great food, especially breakfast, so we decided that we had to try today! As we arrived, we were expecting a "rinky dink hole in the wall" place, but it's hidden jewel! Pulling in to park, there was already a lot of cars. Found a space and went in. The place is small, but very nice and the machines here are very up to date! We came for breakfast, and the restaurant, Emerald Island Grill, was pumping! Got us on the wait list, waited 5 minutes and we were seated! They have a large menu, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, 24 hours a day. Honestly, the food was better than expected. We had received a free burger combo for joining Club Jewel. Hubs was going to pass but I was like "hey, free is free!" The restaurant is larger than it looks; there are two rooms. We were seated in the inner room, which was a good thing because even from the inner room, the smoke from the casino was pretty prevalent. Hubs ordered the bbq smoked beef ribs and I ordered the burger combo (of course!) His order came with a side salad and I was surprised that it was mixed greens instead of just iceberg. My burger was cooked a perfect medium with oozy cheddar cheese and the fries were nice and crispy. The combo came with a free drink, too! Hubs enjoyed the ribs and said the side of beans was tasty. Our service was friendly. Emerald Island Grill is not fancy and we thought the food was good bang for your buck. However, the cigarette smoke is difficult to deal with. The casino is very smoky and we thought the restaurant would provide a respite from it. Even though we were in the back room, it was still pretty bad. BBQ night is amazing. I usually have to eat dinner late and service in the late evenings (after 8 or 9pm) is consistently friendly but bad. Even though it was only 5:30 on a Wednesday night, the casino parking lot was full and there was already a 30 minute wait list for two. It happened to be BBQ night so we ordered the three meat combo and also the lasagna which we heard was very popular. The portions were large and the food was delicious! The brisket was so tender and flavorful, one of the best I've had in a long time. The pork ribs were also very tasty and fell right off the bone. The chicken was also very good, but a tad drier than I prefer. They give you BBQ sauce, but you don't really need it. Mac n cheese side was super creamy and delicious. First I'd like to say the staff and service is EXCELLENT! Loved the charming atmosphere. BUT the food lately has been below par. Yes, it's super affordable but I guess you get what you pay for. Then there's the ANNOUNCEMENTS for open tables. REALLY! do they need to announce over the casino speaker system which is SUPER LOUD, "Bill your table is ready in the Emerald Grill. Bill your table is ready in the Emerald Grill. Thank you". Too many words people! There is only one place to eat. I don't think anyone would be confused as to where to go when they hear their name called. And they always say it twice. It's even worse when there are multiple parting who's tables are being called.
