I was looking for some pizza on a tuesday night and came across this place. It was fairly empty yet service was still slow and it took over 40 minutes to receive our pizza. We had the option to sit inside or outside and choose inside due to the live music band being overly loud. However, the ambience outside was nice, with string lights and a very Texas feel. The parking situation is a little ratchet and in the rocks but it's tolerable. Overall I wasn't impressed by anything until I received the pizza. As someone who is a harsh critique and loves pizza very dearly, I can say that this pizza is the best that I have had in South Texas. The crust really got me, it was the perfect amount of crispy to fluffy ratio and baked just the right amount. We ordered a 12 inch Margherita pizza and had a slice left at the end. My husband and I finally got to try Fralo's while we were in town visiting family and it is safe to say we will be coming back! The restaurant itself is quaint and fun and the service was top notch. The weather was nice to enjoy a meal outside so we decided to try Fralo's. We had been wanting to try this place for a while, we have always heard good things about it. Since we had never been we weren't quite sure if we sat ourselves or where to go so we walked inside. We got a few blank stares from a couple of young staff members and just stood there briefly. A girl popped behind the bar and asked if we were needing a drink and we let her know it was our first time and we weren't sure what to do, she let us know we could just seat ourselves outside a s someone would be with us. We found a table and waited a while. Another table came in and sat down after us were actually served first. The restaurant is clearly short staffed which unfortunately is a common theme in a lot of eateries these days so I can't hold that against them. We got the goat cheese to start and each ordered a salad and got a sampler pizza. The starter and salads were great and the pizza was very good too but I can't say that it was my favorite. I will say the sampler pizza is a really nice option to try multiple pizzas or if you can't decide. I really wanted to try the pear one but could not convince my husband on this visit so I will have to order this next time since I hear it's a top pick. I would definitely recommend this place but know that the service may be a bit slow. It's important to remember that during these times there are things out of our control and business are doing their best to keep up. You can tell the staff at fralo's is doing their best and it's not a lack of effort. So-so pizza. Tasteless and when you take it home to reheat it the next day it's soggy. I suspect they use cheap ingredients and possibly artificial cheese. The lemonade is artificial and more likely a mix. We've tried it three times and will not eat here again. I'd rather buy a good quality frozen pizza. Love the laid back ambiance of this restaurant. Doesn't even feel like a pizza place. With the shaded patio and large fans that made it 10 degrees cooler, gave me a feel of southern California without the beach setting. The group playing outside, set the mood for a relaxing afternoon with a beer in my hand in good company. The salad we ordered was so deliciously citric with pecans accompanied by a flavorful raspberry dressing. You get two large slices of four of their specialty pizzas. I think I've tried all their pizzas now, but I still get the sampler. Variety, it's the spice of life. The atmosphere is equally wonderful. Even on August 3rd at 6:30 pm when it should be sweltering, the patio shade keeps you nice and cool. I've never sat indoors at Fralo's. I've enjoyed everything about this restaurant since the first day I parked my car on their unpaved property. The food is delicious, the owners are present, and the ambiance is unique and incredibly approachable. When you come to Fralo's you already know not to expect ordinary. Why? Because you just pulled up to a restaurant that's been turned inside out. The overwhelming majority of their seating is outside, and for the cooler winter months they've put up a tent with space heaters ready to accommodate the masses. What's inside the main building? Four or five tables, and the kitchen: where all the magic happens. Their ingredients are fresh and selected by the proprietors to ensure that the customers are eating only the best stuff. Ben took my order over the phone. I was really patient with him when he started going over gluten free pizza when I never even asked about gluten free pizza. But I kept it nice and casual and ordered one simple pizza. He had no knowledge of the menu at all. As he was talking I just pulled up the menu on my phone and let him ramble. He told me my total and told me it would take 30 minutes. I was outside the restaurant parked when I placed the order. I waited THIRTY MINUTES in the parking lot while 32 weeks pregnant after a 13 hour shift. I walked in to find out he never even put my order in. Worst service ever. Only got a simple "sorry bout that we can get in on the kitchen right now" They said they would make my pizza but what's the point waiting an hour for one pizza that's over charged? The location is cool and has really nice outdoor seating. Excellent place to enjoy a nice meal. The service was very friendly. We were surprised to find that it is byob which we would have enjoyed if we weren't just passing through. Nice selection of beer on tap and their house wine was very drinkable. We tried the sampler pizza with 4 different kinds. The pear pizza and the 4 cheese turned out to be our favorites. One issue is that if there is someone in your group, say a kid, who wants to create their own it can really drive up your bill. We ended up paying about $70 for three people to eat pizza and one beer and one wine. But it could have been much more affordable if they had some smaller pizzas for kids. However, we ate leftover pizza for two days so I guess it worked out. read more

4.5 star! I had not been to Fralo's until this past weekend. I have to say I was impressed. The restaurant is pretty casual with live music playing. Service was on point. We started with moscato then ordered the sampler pizza which is basically your choice of four pizzas in one! Sweet! We got the Grant's pear, Luca's Torino, meat lover and nutty chicken. The meat lover was deff my fav. It isn't on the menu but just ask for it if you want pepperoni, bacon, ham and sausage if I remember correctly. The Luca's Torino and Grant's pear were both unique and tied as my second fav. Luca's Torino has chicken and arugula, looking cute and tasting even better than it looks. The Grant's pear is sweet and savory. Fantastic mix! We thought we got the nutty chicken as the forth choice but it turns out they misplaced it for Lorfa's Five which is a 5 cheese pizza. The loaded cheese was just too heavy I didn't enjoy it as much and probably won't order it again. Overall remarkable pizza joint. I loved all the unique choices on the menu and can't wait to return to try more. Wine and good pizza are a perfect combination I just can't pass up! I can deff see myself here often. read more

I haven't been writing reviews for a while because I just moved to San Antonio at the end of summer. I have been here long enough to savor some places, so it's time to Yelp about my favorites so far. Since Fralo's was our first meal after we moved (we couldn't find the plates or silverware, so pizza is an easy go-to meal while unpacking boxes), I find it fitting to Yelp about it first. We also have eaten Fralo's - either carry-out or there - more than any other restaurant in SAT ... It IS THAT Good! It also helps that we drive by it several times per day... Fralo's really IS "The Art of Pizza". They hand-craft each pie and cook them in their wood-burning oven. The pizzas are relatively big - a large feeds our family of three very well. The crust is not too thick, and not too thin. There are many speciality pizzas we have tried and have yet to have a bad one. Our favorite is the "sampler" that allows you to get four quarters each with a different pizza - perfect if you like variety or can't agree on toppings! A few things of note: there is very limited seating indoors; there is ample seating under the shade of trees outside. This is perfect for when the weather permits it. Also, the "word is out" about this place (even before my review :) there is a crowd most nights. It might have something to do with being a BYOB place. They have wine and beer to order, but most patrons bring their own. This place is perfect for groups or families. Our daughter made friends with other kids there on our first visit. The wait-staff is very friendly and helpful. When my mother comes for her first visit, this is definitely a place we will take her! read more

Wow, I'm really surprised this place hasn't been reviewed yet. Or maybe it's the stupid Yelp search engine not working, as it tends to do a lot. But either way, this place is AWESOME!!!! It's right off the access road of I-10, right across from the Rudy's BBQ in Leon Springs. The place has some indoor seating, but the main reason for going here is to come with friends, sit outside, chat, enjoy good food, good live music, and your drink of choice that you've brought. That's right, it's BYOB!!! It's awesome. They do charge a $5 corkage fee for each bottle of wine, but you can bring a cooler of beer and you'll be good to go. The prices are little on the steeper side for pizza, but their signature pizzas taste amazing and their combinations of ingredients are top-notch, and remind me a lot of California style pizzas. I recommend you get their sampler pizza which is a random assortment of 2 slices of 8 of their different signature pizzas. Their pizzas are good for splitting between 2 really hungry people or 4 people sharing an appetizer. Honestly, for the ambiance and the BYOB and the quality and taste of the food. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants to visit with my family. We live about 40 min away but will drive every so often to visit because it has great pizza and outdoor space for kids. I had a terrible experience there recently and no manager seemed to care. For one, the Manager was not wearing mask. They sat us but everything on the menu took 1.5 hour so we changed order and it took over an hour before it never came. Never had this experience before. Terrible!! Absolutely terrible. Manager never came to check and they kept seating. When I emailed the owner said they were short staffed. It's unfortunate that restaurants operate this way. We work hard as well to enjoy moments and meals with our families and restaurants not take the time or a step back to operate at the capacity they should.
