I have two teen daughters and I left them to pick our brunch spot and alas this is where they picked. Frances' Deli and Brunchery is definitely an Instagramable type of spot. Its cute, and has tons of great photo ops. However the food wasn't as exiting as the decor. There were four of us for brunch this Saturday early afternoon. My husband ordered the Reuben, one daughter ordered the Robin of Loxely platter, I ordered the chicken and waffles and my oldest daughter ordered the biscuit and gravy. For sharing we got the french toast mega flight and the mimosa tower. Sadly the only person who really enjoyed their meal was my youngest that ordered the Lox platter. It was definitely a well stocked platter and had enough lox and toppings for two healthy servings. My chicken and waffles was a huge disappointment. The waffles was a sweet potato waffle that didn't taste sweet and just had a weird flavor to it. I've had sweet potato waffles before and this one was dry and just didn't have a good flavor. The chicken that came with it was a breast I believe, but it as super small and super DRY. My oldest ordered the biscuit and gravy and like another reviewer stated, it was doughy and the gravy was not very meaty or flavorful. The husband ordered the Rueben. This was a disappointment due to the lack of meat. He tasted mostly rye and very little meat. So he ended up stacking the meat from one of the sandwiches to make it meaty enough to overcome the rye bread. We all enjoyed the mega french toast and the mimosa tower. read more

I was taken on a cute date with a special lady... since no fine young men wanted to see me eat bacon and French toast like a starving bear out of the Dan Ryan woods.. but anyhow. I loved the personal cozy and decorative small space the brunch atmosphere provides. It wasn't crowded for a Monday Afternoon. We ordered omelettes I had a spinach and mushroom omelet added jalapeños AND bacon... (I didn't say I was vegan, you just thought that when I said spinach).. And my friend ordered a JERK. CHICKEN. Omelette, BRUH. Her food came and I almost told them her plate was mine cuz where can you get a JERK chicken omelet ????!! HERE! I will be getting that next time. I also added French toast with strawberry and whip cream. I really enjoyed EVERYTHING. The wait on a Sunday mid morning wasn't too bad, maybe 15 minutes for a party of three. The dining area was packed, very hard to maneuver to the bathroom and back to table. But the worst was the blasting music throughout the place. It was deafening. After trying to yell a convo across our table, we asked the host/cashier if the music could be turned down a little. The response was "No way. This is Sunday funday! People are here for the music!" People apparently aren't there for the food. It was okay but nothing exceptional, and hard to enjoy with all the music noise and people screaming to be heard. The breakfast burrito was good, nothing to write home about. Luckily it was less than a 20 minute wait for a table. I can say the place was pretty busy, definitely a younger crowd. I can see why people come here to drink. The aesthetic was old but definitely decorated with a fun brunch theme. I think they've been around since the 80s. The mimosa flight (serves four) was colorful and looked so cool! They have fun flavors like cotton candy, green apple, cherry, and strawberry. We got the liter of standard mimosa and that served six. The alcohol situation was perfect for a Saturday brunch. The brunch was nothing fancy. The menu is super big and they have a bunch of fun looking options. I think the menu appeal looked better than it was. But when push came to shove service was pretty slow and we were always the one having to flag down our waitress. The food took forever to arrive. It was tasty, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't anything too impressive. There are better brunch places with less hype in the neighborhood. Definitely really liked trying the French toast flight. I haven't been to Frances' Deli in over 20 years and it hasn't changed much since then, it has a nice homey feel, it was warm and toasty on a 20 degree day with Christmas music playing in the background. Our server was there as soon as we sat down to take our drink order as well as the busboy with water. My friend ordered a waffle with strawberries, the waffle was a little tough to cut. She said her green tea was very good but not so much for the Chicken Soup, it had plenty of vegetables and a fair amount of chicken but the taste was watery so she put a squirt of lemon in it and tolerated the rest. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich which was tasty with a potato pancake. I thought the sandwich was skimpy compared to another photo I copied from another reviewer. My friend saw this place advertised on Instagram, and we were looking forward to it as it seemed like a neat spot with a good menu. They don't take reservations, which is a bummer, so we had a plan B just in case. I walked in first, and a man came up to me, and I didn't even know he worked there. He just didn't seem professional or friendly as if he even worked there. He asked me where my other party is, and I said "I don't know." He said I couldn't sit down until my friend was there, which is understandable, but he was just so sassy about it. A second employee greeted me and also said I had to wait, which is fine. It took a while for a server to come to our table. She was nice though. It took a while to get our cocktails. I got steak & eggs with a potato pancake. You get two big biscuits covered in a very tasty thick country gravy served with eggs and hash browns covered in cheese. The hash browns were really good as were the biscuits and gravy. I tried their Cluck-n-Gaufre (Chicken and Waffle). They serve a sweet potato waffle mixed in with chicken, topped with a fried chicken breast, served with hot sauce and syrup. I'm used to drizzling hot sauce on my chicken but they recommended to pour it all over the waffle since it had chicken in the waffle batter. I obliged and she was correct. It tasted amazing. I wasn't a big fan of their chicken. It was little over cooked, lacking the juicy and tenderness that I loved in a perfectly fried chicken. I went to Frances' Brunchery for Saturday brunch. I'd heard a ton of great things about this place, so I was really excited about it. I think the high standard I had was my first problem -- my high hopes were quickly dashed. My friend and I split the truffle fries, which were amazing. Honestly the highlight of my meal, with a heaping amounts of Parmesan and a fantastically tasty garlic aioli on the side. I could have eaten just a platter of these for brunch, and I wish I had. Instead, I ordered the BLAT breakfast sandwich, which was fine as a whole, but just a standard sandwich. I was shocked to see hardly anything French on the menu when I fully thought it was supposed to be French cuisine. Newsflash: it's NOT French cuisine! Just a run-of-the-mill brunch place with y creative offerings and mid quality. I think this place is known for their mimosas, which now makes sense because the food was standard, but I didn't try any, so if you're gonna come here, stick to the mimosas and don't waste your time on the food (except the truffle fries! This is my moms FAVORITE brunch place to go to when she visits me in Chicago. The food is so delicious and priced very reasonably. I absolutely love the Turkey Avocado Club and the BLAT. The sweet potato fries are always perfectly crispy! I love all of the cute sayings around the restaurant and the cute little outdoor area they have. The open windows give the place an outdoors feel as well. I also love to get the mimosa flight! Frances' is a good weekend brunch spot with a creative menu. They have a lot of fun brunch options, from french toast flights to club sandwiches, but I've tried a couple different things off the menu and have never been super impressed with the food. The mimosas and other cocktails are super fun and there are a lot of unique flavors to choose from (some better than others... cotton candy and blue curaçao were not made to be mimosa flavors... but that's on me for daring to order them). The flight comes in this really fun tower (pictured), but I realized too late that if unless you're really interested in trying the funky flavors it's a much better deal to just get a pitcher. It was on large matzo ball in a light checked broth. It tasted homemade, The turkey club was also very good. Turkey breast slices (not deli slices) we're used. I got the fruit salad, but one can get potato salad, potato pancake or fries as a side. Overall service was friendly and expedient except when it came to the bill. Me and my friend did brunch here last weekend. I came around 11:30am and it was packed on a Sunday. They don't have a waitlist option on Yelp, you have to come in to put your name on the list. It was about a 20-25 min wait. There's a Target down the street to kill time. The food: all reviews recommended it and I'm glad I listened. I shared it with my friend and it was just enough. The maple butter was really good and amped up the taste of the French toast. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake French toast. Loaded breakfast potatoes: was okay but missing some flavor, I wasn't really expecting cheese sauce on the potatoes but actual shredded cheddar cheese. They were generous with the bacon on top. Stopped in on a Sunday around 1:30 and this place was completely packed. I'd describe it as "over packed and under staffed". It is also fairly loud and hard to hear the person in front of you. The staff was friendly and did take our order very quickly however we waited about 30 minutes for the food to be ready.
