I was really excited to come here for breakfast but it wasn't anything extraordinary if you ask me. We ordered the mimosa flight, the lobster omelette, crawfish Benedict, and the lobster deviled eggs. The best thing was probably the deviled eggs. The fried lobster was yummy but the yolk concoction was a little too runny for my personal taste. 8/10 The crawfish Benedict had more filler than crawfish but the spicy hollandaise added a good amount of flavor and the potatoes weren't bad. 5/10 The lobster omelette was 6/10 at most. The actual toppings weren't cooked in the eggs themselves and just thrown over top making it very unappealing to the eye and messy when eating. The flavor was there but visually, I never would have picked this off the menu if I knew it came looking the way it did. Overall pretty underwhelming experience for the price you pay.
I'd been here before, but that was a couple of years ago, so I was excited to try it again! Be mindful that they don't take reservations here, but honestly, I was seated pretty fast once my entire party arrived. I went on a Saturday at 11am! The inside is so cute! It's definitely a place work taking some photos at especially in front of their flower wall with their neon sign. I loved the music they played -- a good mix of current pop hits and throwback r&b (personally loved the BBD and Bobby Brown ). Tables are quite close together, but I never felt cramped. You just might end up playing footsie with someone in your party sometimes, haha. As for the food, it was good! I went pretty simple and just got pancakes, bacon, and OJ. My friends got a skillet and the biscuits and gravy and loved it. The last time I got the cinnamon roll pancakes and mimosa flight which were also great choices. Prices were very reasonable, but it's worth keeping in mind that they add an automatic 18% gratuity to all check. They can also split and take apple pay. Unfortunately, AMEX isn't accepted here. Overall, it was pretty great and I'd definitely go back for a 3rd time!
Tried this spot for the first time since it was a VERY short walk from my son's Drs appointment. It was very cute inside and the music/vibe was very fun. My son is in a wheelchair and I noticed other reviewers complaining about space so I was slightly worried but it accommodated us perfectly fine (maybe because it wasn't filled to capacity-no wait? Idk). They definitely could have used a couple more servers but we didn't feel neglected at all. I had the Julius Caesar wrap, my BF had the breakfast burrito with chicken (maple apple) sausage and my son had the kid's mac n cheese. My son finished his plate (which was on a kids tray with each item separated from the other ) and he never does that! He really enjoyed the fries, which we all agreed on. My BF and I both enjoyed the flavor of our wraps as well. Mine had a great dressing-to-lettuce ratio... Was not dry like I'm used to with regular chicken Caesar wraps. And the chicken was not overcooked! We had an interaction with the executive chef and he was very nice. Got a good laugh out of my kiddo. We will for sure be back!
Where do I start? First of all, 11 Department of Health violations is most concerning! Common on! 11 violations!! That's just pure laziness and a lack of respect for your customers! Secondly, these were the worst shrimp and grits I've ever had! The grits were soupy and the shrimp were flavorless! The dish is called Jerk shrimp with purple cheesy grits. I tasted nothing that even resembled jerk and the consistency of the purple grits was like lumpy, runny oatmeal! The French toast was okay, but it was room temperature and not hot! Overall, my food was a hot, soupy, flavorless mess!!! And don't get me started on all of these mysterious charges on the bill! Just tacky!

Omg this little brunch spot and the neighborhood it's located in, is all so cute! Not far from the lakeshore. I had the Franny's Skillet and my friend had the Julius Caesar wrap. Both very pleased with our meals, plus the portions are so filling! We ended up getting the mimosa flight with various flavors, plus, the Chef came out to chat with us and gave us one on the house. I think the cranberry mimosa may have been my favorite! Service was amazing, our waiter was super nice and gave some recommendations. They have a list of specials that they change out monthly. This month they have a pepper steak with purple grits that looks divine! I wish would've came back for that before leaving town. We had a great time!
This was my 1st time here. I saw a TikTok review of it so I decided to check it out. It also helped they serve breakfast during the weekdays instead of just the weekends. We arrived around 10 am on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded or loud. I'm glad we came here because the food was amazing. There were sooooo many choices though. The waitress showed us some photos and videos of the food which helped make a decision. We shared the fruit tower & a bacon flight. My oldest son got chicken & waffles & wouldn't let me get a picture because he was "starving" after a 2 hr flight. He ate it up, no complaints. My other son got the waffle flight (pictured). He ate all of it except half of one & that's only because he was full. My lobster omelette was good. It had a lot of flavor and meat on it. I couldn't finish it. Wish the TikTok review would have mentioned the 18% mandatory gratuity and 3% charge if you don't pay cash, but it is what it is. They also have a military discount. Everything was delicious. If I'm back in Chicago I'll definitely come back.
The ambiance was great! When you walk in you immediately feel welcomed. I love the patio and indoor seating are. It's like it is all meshed together which gives it the new, modern, hip vibe. We had a large party, but we were well accommodated and received excellent service during our visit. We even had the chance to meet the owner. On to the food, we placed our drink order first. Once we received our drinks, we placed our food order. I had the steak, egg, and potato combo. I wasn't too impressed with the food. It was not seasoned. Everything I had was bland. Now I must say they give you a nice portion of food, so you are definitely going to get your money's worth. I will also say that the drinks weren't as good as well. I love that they have flights available; however, they were syrupy. It took away from the overall taste and flavor of the drink. I hope things with the food get a little better. I believe season will change the game for them.
First time here for brunch and I will be back. The decor is super cute very French inspired and the food is to die for...my friend and I had a martini flight that was so yummy and we split the French toast flight and Feb special Mardi Gras omelette which was so good and filling. The waitstaff was awesome. Our server Elvira was top notch. Loved every minute of the experience
Cute spot for breakfast and lunch! Get the Mimosa Flight! Our favs were the cotton candy and the dreamsicle. We also tried the peach and blue curacao. Our server was informative and she showed us real pictures of certain dishes off the phone. We ended up getting the french toast flight, which included lemon, apple, strawberry, and blueberry. The lemon was my least favorite, but the rest were equally delicious. The ambiance is very comfortable. They have indoor or outdoor seating, and it's in a walkable neighborhood with lots of places nearby.
I live across the street from The Brunchery and this place brings the heart and soul to this block on Clark Street with its' loud music and outdoor seating. The music is blasting, so if you have trouble with hearing I would not recommend this spot. We arrived and they said a table was ready for us, but we still had to register to wait in line. About two minutes after we registered, my phone buzzed and we were seated. They get you in and out fast - I swear 10 minutes after ordering our food it arrived. The Bacon Sampler is fun to split for $10, and the Great Since '38 Breakfast comes with two eggs, a choice of protein - get the homemade sausage, it is so special and unique. They also give you sausage options of chicken, pork, or turkey. The Brunchery has one of my favorite coffee brands, Lavazza, so you will be as happy with your coffee as you are with your food. They give you a side of milk if you order it so you can add the amount you want. Patrons can be dressed to the nines, so something you might want to be aware of.
So this place was a bit of hit or miss. We got in with no wait on Sunday around 11:30 for two, which was nice. The place was pretty busy and VERY LOUD. Our server arrived right away and gave us plenty of time to order as the menu is pretty big. Lots of options that sounded good including the specials but we went with: Biscuits and Gravy Hash browns Breakfast corn dogs Create a scrambler (egg whites, broccoli, onions and peppers, with homemade chicken sausage) + grilled potatoes 2x cinnamon roll pancakes My husband's biscuits were fine but the gravy left flavor to be desired. The hash browns were good with the hardened cheese though! He also liked the corn dogs but again I thought they lacked flavor. My scrambler was delicious! Would def come back for this, especially with the homemade chicken sausage! but my potatoes were COLD. Like bad. The waitress was nice enough to bring me new ones which were piping hot but asked for the old ones back which was kinda strange... I certainly wasn't going to eat them all so it was fine but a little awkward as I attempted to scoop them onto a tiny plate. My pancakes though were a huge disappointment. Silver lining for my diet I guess but my husband and I combined ate less than half of one pancake bc that's how flavorless and dry they were. Def the worst cinnamon roll pancakes I've ever had which was surprising bc they looked fluffy and delicious! Would not get pancakes here again. Overall, our waitress was great and I really enjoyed the scrambler and grilled potatoes but that's all I would come back for.
Wanted to switch up my breakfast outing and tried Frances' Deli and Brunchery. Arrive shortly after they opened for business so that I could get in before the breakfast crowd. So that I could get a sampling of their French toast offerings, I ordered the flight. That came with strawberry, lemon zest, blueberry granola crunch, caramel apple, and a French toast of the week. All of the slices except for the French toast of the week was a hit. The French toast of the week had a heavy-handed rum sauce that rendered a mix of licorice and medicinal flavor to it. Accompanying the toast flight were eggs scrambled with cream cheese and cheesy hashbrowns. Both were perfect and didn't need any additional table seasoning to perk them up. If you go for breakfast, I recommend getting there as early as possible. The stretch along Clark Street tends to have a lot of pedestrian traffic, and brunch is already a popular outing event in Chicago anyway. One other thing to note is that if you get the French toast flight, it may be advisable to inquire as to what the French toast of the week is, so there won't be any surprises.

I am EXTREMELY pleased with my visit to this place. From customer service to the food everything was great. But the star of my review is def be my lovely waitress Elvira. She is nothing short of amazing. If you go there please ask for her you will not be disappointed. I can rave about her and how she went above and beyond without hesitation but it's something you would need to experience yourself. She by herself would have given 5 stars from me! The food was exceptional we literally wish we could try everything on the menu. The decor was bright and welcoming. The owner/chef was present and def checked in to ensure that we're were enjoying our visits. I got a chance to briefly speak with him which was nice. I do look forward to my next visit here because one simply isn't enough. Good luck on your visit! read more

Keep in mind they don't accept reservations. We showed up maybe an hour or so before they closed, so we were able to get seated fairly quick. There were still quite a few people seated waiting on food and several others who entered after my party. This was my first time visiting. I had heard multiple people recommend it, so I figured why not give it a try while visiting the city. Service was ok. Our server seated us, but waited a while before he returned to even attempt to take our order. We were then informed we had like 10 minutes to order before the kitchen closed. Luckily, we knew what we wanted. The overall vibe was upbeat, well lit and great r&b tunes to complement the experience. When it comes to the music choice and volume of music, easy 10/10. We ordered several different things on the menu. The French toast was great, very sweet due to the toppings, which was expected. But good overall. The catfish fillet was crispy and loaded with flavor. Steak and eggs were good, but my friend definitely didn't get full from his meal, so he definitely indulged into the French toast that was left. Our toddler enjoyed his chicken apple sausage and fruit bowl immensely as he cheesed with every bite. The margaritas weren't worth the price. They were premade and heavily concentrated tasting. The espresso martini was a hit though. I highly recommend that. The chef/owner did prowl through the restaurant speaking to the customers, but it seemed very forced. Maybe it had been a long day! They do have a cute flower wall inside that would make for a little cute photo op. read more

Best French toast EVER!!! Cute spot...but it is very loud in here. I couldn't really hold a conversation with my partner at the table. The space seems limited and the cram a lot of people in a small space. The food is really why we are here right?? You will not be disappointed. They have daily specials and then they have a very extensive menu. I tried the flight of French toast. Every single bite was delicious. Each flavor taste like the bread was infused with the flavor. So freaking good and nothing basic about this French toast. Have you ever had jerk turkey sausage?? Neither had I!!!! Had to try this and it was good. It is made in house and so going. The red grits were a special for the day. They are more purple than red. I wasn't a huge fan of this but the gravy was the saving grace for this dish. The service was great and the food was served quickly. We tried the mimosa flight and that was good!! read more

Lovvvved the space and ambiance. Our server, Jamie was full of energy and knowledge! There were so many options to choose from! Lots of options which is a Good problem to have. Lovvveed the French toast flight! Fresh, fluffy, sweet and delicious! Maple chicken was a bomb! Flavorful and tender! Potatoes were seasoned and crispy! Jerk chicken omelette was delicious and juicy! The Man loved the sauce on that meal! He says he thoroughly enjoyed it (and that doesn't happen often). Such a savory meal overall! Last but definitely not least, Cocktails! An ideal spot for weekend brunch - even on a rainy, Sunday morning. The open setup with plenty of natural light is ideal for any gathering. I had the bananas foster pancakes and a side of maple sausage patties. The pancakes were delicious. Three was the perfect amount and the frosting drizzled on top was just sweet enough. The pancakes were light. I left the table feeling satisfied, not full. I also had a cold brew that was quite good. I'm under the impression that it was Lavazza. Good choice! read more

I came here on my birthday for brunch. This place has been causing quite a buzz on Tik Tok. I wanted to come and check it out to see what the hype was about. I got there around 11 AM on a Thursday, it was very laid back. The server told me it's pretty quiet during a weekday. I heard the weekends are a beast up in this place. The minute I walked inside I was amazed with the decor. Open windows for you to enjoy the summer sun. My server Maryorith was super nice. She gave me a birthday Mimosa on the house. I ordered the Mega French Toast Flight. O My Goodness all flavors were delicious. Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Zest, Blueberry Crunch & Caramel Apple. I ordered a size of crisp bacon. I enjoyed the different flavors of Mimosa. One glass is 7.00 but the Mimosa Flight goes for $25.00. As, I was leaving Chef Rylon was walking through the door with a gigantic smile on his face. Let's just say I don't have not one bad word to say about this place. It was a great way to kick start My Birthday. read more

What is up with businesses adding all these extra fees? I get a 18% auto gratuity but a 3% "service" fee and another 3% for credit cards. No reason I should be paying 24% extra without it being an option. I'd be less upset about this too if I had an enjoyable experience and quality food. We got seated pretty quickly for a Sunday morning but that wasn't surprising once we saw how crammed the interior was. With how crowded it was, I got bumped in the back about ten to fifteen times. The chicken and waffles didn't take long to make. I've never had or even thought of a sweet potato waffle and I will definitely get this whenever it's on a menu. The waffle was cooked perfectly with a slight crunch along the grooves while being more savory than sweet. The maple butter with it was nice but not even needed with how tasty the waffle was. The chicken on the other hand was super small and one of the worst fried chickens I've had. It wasn't juicy or crispy while the breading wasn't evenly coated and lacked seasoning. Lastly, I wasn't a fan of the nutmeg hot sauce which came on the side. In my opinion, this place is trying to be super trendy and show off for social media instead of focusing on good service and food. I love a weekend brunch but this was probably my least enjoyable one I've ever had. Not a fan of this place and won't ever be back. read more
Omg!!! A total vibe from beginning to end! I recommend sitting inside if you want to feel and hear the music! A wide range of selections on the menu and the staff were all friendly and cool! The prices were decent so I didn't feel cut short or ripped off at all which is sooooo nice in this day and age! Traveled from StL and Im pretty sure I will be hitting this location for brunch for many future Chicago trips! read more

For the trouble I went through any decent restaurant would honor a free meal. This is far from a decent restaurant. Don't forget to mention that half of our parties food came out 15 minutes before the rest and they sent the chef out to ask us 'hows everyone feeling!!!?!?" um HUNGRY!?! read more
Mimosa flight and sweet potato waffle is what brought me in! The service was odd. When we walked in someone said to followed them and when we did she seemed to forget we were following her and went to take an order from a table. So we awkwardly stood there waiting for her and then she left. So we sat ourselves...then our server took about 15mins to greet us and then another 10mins to take our order. Luckily we had some water but it was all very odd because it wasn't busy, we arrived 1.5hrs before closing. It's really cute inside with pintresty decor. However, the food was a disappointment. The mimosas were cute but the flavors were very very sweet and artificial tasting. The waffle wasn't anything special and the tiny piece of chicken was very dry. It came with a spicy syrup and it tasted like syrup with clove and cholula, it was quite bad, inedible. The French toast flight was just okay. read more

This is a typical breakfast/ lunch spot. There are many in Chicago but this a nice wonderful black owned establishment. I got the chance to meet the owner while we waited for our patty of 8 table. This place is first come first served! When you walk in you put your name on a list and wait. It can get crowded and this place isn't that big. The staff was running around crazy so it made it a bit challenging. They have mimosas flights, bacon flights, waffles, sandwiches, coffee, and salads. Bacon flight changes periodically so you can ask the chef or waiter. QR code menus available for you to scan. Drinks are on the lunch menu which is because the coffee is not on the breakfast menu. The biggest challenging which is no fault to the restaurant is parking. After finding parking you have to wait to be seated. If you have an appetite or little ones bring a snack. read more

Food was not good. Worst Reuben sandwich I've ever had in my life for sure. When we ask for the check, we realize a tip was already built in and service was nowhere near satisfactory .. plus the surcharge and another 3% if you pay with credit card. Got the blueberry pancakes definitely a winner. Crawfish with the red grits was different but definitely good, the gumbo also was great. Drinks were nice and strong, my waiter was also very attentive. It's the new place so expect to wait in a line. It's a nice comfy place with good ambience. read more
Definitely arrived expecting a wait but was able to be seated as soon as we walked in. Tables are kind of close together but luckily we sat by another rather nice couple. Specials of the month looked amazing! I had a sweet potato waffle with chicken and some sort of spicy Nutella syrup. Everything was decent separately but I should have taken the waitress suggestions. Mimosa flight was good with very different flavors (green apple, dragon fruit, cotton candy). I'm from Atlanta so a $25 mimosa flight is a steal. This place is beautiful. We were seated fast on a Friday morning and it seemed our food came out in less than 20 minutes! I tried the Strawberry Shortcake French Toast and the Chicken Wings and Purple Grits. I must say the grits are an acquired taste and I couldn't get past the taste! The waitress actually suggested that meal. The Chicken was great as well as the french toast! Everything was plated beautifully. The only thing we didn't like was how close all the tables were. Doing errands around the city and decided to grab a bite to eat. Had saved this in my bookmarked as black owned restaurant that I wanted to try. We arrived around 2:10, not realizing it closes at 3pm. Next time will go earlier as the kitchen closes at 2:30. Decor and seating in restaurant was very cute and photography worthy. They have an outside area that would be fun for summer. Location seems to be know for mimosa flights. We opted not to get drinks this visit. For food we got a Homestyle Skillet and Chicken & Waffle dish. Food was good, I enjoyed that my waffle was infused with sweet potatoes. If I come back, would get a skillet. Good coffee, good food. Main issue is the way they bill customers. They will add a credit card service fee whether you pay cash or not (I asked for it to be removed and it was). Then they add a mandatory 18% tip. Every time I wanted my server's attention he was on his phone on the other side of the room. Because the tip is mandatory, not optional, they tax you on the total of the food, and tip. I have never had this before. Won't be coming back here. read more

We ordered delivery and it was not worth the money. Got a bland breakfast wrap for 25! Both my friend and I's meals were missing ingredients. For this price, would not order again. read more

This place is the cutest! Great food, and a very cute vibe inside. Showed up on Sunday around 12:30, wait for two was expected to be an hour wait, but luckily there was two seats at the bar opened. The bar had 6 seats total. To start with I wanted a bloody(they were out) so our waitress recommended the mimosa flight. Very cute, I noticed other people were able to pick flavors they wanted where that was not offered to us, so I'm not sure what we had, but still very good! Cant go wrong with a mimosa! For food I wanted the pancake corn dogs(they were out) so I got the Rueben which was delicious!! The sweet potato fries were also sooo good! Their food here is top notch! Overall service was very slow but they were extremely packed, but will for sure be coming back for the food! read more
