Terrific, old-school Italian food! Great waitress---very nice restaurant experience. Prices are extremely reasonable!

My family and I decided to try this local spot because we were hungry and it was nearby. Honestly, from the moment we walked in, something felt off. We weren't greeted properly, and the atmosphere just felt uncomfortable. As a family of color, we didn't feel very welcomed. Our waitress wasn't rude, but she was very unprofessional. She brought drinks before even giving us menus and never mentioned the nightly specials. I only knew about them because I checked online beforehand. I had to ask for the specials menu myself, which was strange. The food took a long time to come out. We had to repeatedly ask for refills and extra bread just to hold us over. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing and not very appealing. One dish was so bad we sent it back after one bite. Even then, the service didn't improve. We constantly had to flag the waitress down, and instead of being attentive, she was venting about her personal life and having random, unprofessional conversations. When the check came, we were still charged for the dish we sent back -- she only removed part of it. I also wasn't given the advertised special pricing and was told it didn't apply because I asked for a different container -- something that was never explained beforehand. We spent $100 on food we didn't enjoy, with poor service and an uncomfortable vibe. The bread was honestly the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

A+ Food, Drink, and Service Initially dined at Francesco's several years ago and recently (July 9, 2023) made my way back there for another meal. As soon as you walk through the front door, there is a large bar and bar area. To the left is a formal dining area complete with enough tables and chairs to accommodate parties of multiple sizes. The decor is somewhat dated, but the establishment is clean and well-lit. Same with the bathrooms: a little dated, but clean, with good lighting, and stocked with everything a bathroom is supposed to provide. In general, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Our server, Patti, was prompt and attentive during our entire stay. She took our drink order immediately and then explained the specials expertly. Everything we ordered: drinks, appetizers, and entrees - were all served to us promptly and in a reasonable amount of time. Patti checked in on us several times to make sure we were content with our meal. Plain and simple: the service at Francesco's was great! The food we ordered arrived hot and delicious. It seemed to me that everything the menu described as "fresh made" or "homemade" was indeed prepared that very way. My appetizer was the beet salad. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was amazing! For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Filippo. The portion size was generous and the chicken, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts complemented each other perfectly. My vegetable was snow peas sauteed in garlic aioli - yummy! Throughout our meal, we were supplied with hot and crispy bread as needed, along with plenty of butter. I am looking forward to returning to Francesco's and would highly recommend dining here. Went here with friends last night for dinner, and the food was ok. Decor is definitely outdated. I felt like I was back in the 80s. We got seated right away, and the waitress was great and listed all the specials. We did order drinks from the bar, and even the drinks were eh just ok. The food was pretty pricey for just ok food, so I wouldn't say that it was worth it. I will say that the service was great. I didn't get a picture of the cream of broccoli soup, but that was very good. My husband got the stuffed flounder, and that was delicious. I wished I had ordered that instead of the pasta. My pasta was in a watery garlic and oil sauce, not good at all. I don't think we will be back. Nothing stood out for me to want to return. read more

We've passed this place going to and from the shore, and finally thought we'd try them out. No reservation required, and there's a pretty large bar area plus table seating. I'm not sure about alcohol prices or specials, but the bar sure was popular. Fortunately, there wasn't any wait for a table on this Sunday evening. First, they bring out the (endless) bread and butter- well, once you order, that is. The bread tastes fresh and warm, the butter is cold but still spreadable. I ordered the housemade spaghetti with marinara, which did taste good and fresh. My sister ordered the chicken parmesan, and received a whopping portion (a whole plate was just the chicken, with the pasta in a side bowl). Prices are a little more than expected, which is worth it for the portions- however, I felt that my pasta portion was a little underwhelming after seeing the chicken parmesan portion. Our meals also came with house salads, which I thought tasted great as well. Service was consistently fast and very friendly as well. We're looking forward to our next shore trip so we can stop at Francesco's again! read more

3.5 stars We have lived in the area for about 11 years and finally got around to trying Francesco's. The Hammonton area has too many Italian joints! Nothing stands out. Anyway, we were seated quickly and drink order taken immediately. Our server was really nice and informed us of Saturday specials. Brought us bread, which was average. Me: manicotti with house salad Her: chicken marsala with chicken pastina soup. The sauce of my manicotti was watery. Pasta a bit over cooked, which made it chewy. Chicken was whole pieces and flavorful. Homepasta on side was good. Soup was just okay, low on chicken. Decor in restaurant is dated. Looks 80/90ish. Rug was tired and worn, kinda dirty. The restaurant had a musty smell. All in all an okay place...would we return probably not. read more

Francesco's was the scene of a lovely date night a few weeks ago. The food was very good and service was excellent. I think Francesco's has the best garlic bread ever, definitely a must! I ordered a seafood pasta concoction which I really liked. My dining companion got chicken francaise which could have stood to be a little more lemony but was still good. Unfortunately when we were there the wine list was under major overhaul so we couldn't get what we wanted. But they had enough options for us to enact a contingency plan. The service was very personable and attentive. All in all it was a nice experience and I'd certainly go back. read more

The inside of this place gives you a feel eating at an old fashioned Italian restaurant. It has been around for awhile and the place has a good reputation. My family made our reservations and we were seated right under the blaring air conditioner. After asking the waitress several times to turn off the fan and lower the AC, nothing happened. My family member then approached the bar tender, who gave him an attitude for his request. I eventually went up to the kitchen and asked for a manager. A woman, drenched in sweat who was cooking told me there was nothing that could be done. I insisted on opening a window to let some warm air in and she finally gave in. Needless to say, not a good first impression of this place. You are served bread with warm olive oil, garlic, and fresh basil. That was nice. The waitress failed to fulfill my requests regarding drinks, extra plates, and confort for a 12 person party. The place was not that busy, but the service and arrival of food took forever and everyone's food came out several minutes behind the other. A clear inefficiency in the kitchen and chefs. The appetizer I ordered was the calamari. It seemed fresh, but was fried to a tough, chewy crisp. They were overcooked. The pepper sauce was really good though. The homemade gnocchi was some of the worst I've had from an Italian restaurant. If not for the sauce, I would have had to send it back. In conclusion, the food is overpriced, the quality is not there, the service is lacking, it is uncomfortable inside under the AC, I couldn't wait to leave, and I won't return. read more

Have eaten dinner here over the years five or six times. It was always worth the 40 minute ride as a 'special' place to go eat. Recently began working in the area and talked my team into takeout. Everyone was VERY happy. I had the cheeseburger. It was $8 but it was a 3/4 pound burger cooked medium rare, just as I'd asked and it came with all the trimmings, fries and a pickle. If you want a delicious Italian meal-then this is the place for you. The chef obviously cares to keep it fresh and yummy, and we had one of the best meals we've had in a while. We ordered the special appetizer and the broccoli rabe and sausage appetizer-delicious. Soup of the day was a satisfying roasted red pepper bisque. I took some extra home! The braciole was amazing! Food was good but didn't get served soup and salad till 75 minutes into our meal. Food came out at 90 minutes. The service was fine but the back of the house could not get the food out. Other tables got their food before is that were seated after us. We were seated at 5pm and there were only 4 other tables at the time. Absolutely no reason to have such slow order to table times. Love this restaurant. My husband and I eat here a lot. Also have been here for happy hour with my friends. I haven't had one bad item here. Everything I've ever eaten is amazing. The filet Sinatra is to die for. Chicken Parm is insane (won't order it anywhere else). The long hots! The Mussels! The baked Oyster appetizer! The salad is fresh and delicious with great house dressing. Pasta is always done perfectly. Everything tastes fresh and scratch made. Atmosphere is a relaxing with old world charm. Way over priced for very mediocre food! But the best was my husband got food poisoning from the fried calamari! He is a mans man and I smelled the super fishy smell from 20 feet away. This place reminds you of OLD WORLD Italian restaurants. This is a place I have been to before and haven't gone back in a while, but decided to go last night. The place has not changed at all. Food and wine are a little expensive but still very good. I had Veal Abruzzi with long hot peppers and my wife had Crab Raviolis in a great blush sauce. They bring you a family style salad, which is just OK. Overall, even being a little expensive, its a place I would go back to again. read more

I've gone here many times through the years, mostly for lunch. The food is typically overpriced I have to agree. The service is casual Italian style where everyone seems to assume you have no where else to be so they want to B.S. and pass around the wine and bread a while. Food wise, I usually go with their specials and I never had a complaint. What a phenomenal meal we just enjoyed at Francesco's! I had a perfectly cooked filet mignon with shrimp and crab, my oldest son had the largest serving of chicken parm I've ever seen and his wife enjoyed perfectly cooked pasta. Our nine-year-old polished off a gargantuan plate of chicken strips and fries. Some reviewers have complained about slow service, but everything is cooked to order, and the quality is worth the wait. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. Customers are treated like family. This is a restaurant that feeds the soul as well as the body. read more

I have gone to Francesco's several times and have always had a terrific meal. Last night, even with a power outage, the food was amazing! We had the all-you-can-eat crabs that were meaty and delicious. I feel sorry for Christopher D. for having a bad meal - our bread was so good that we asked for seconds and the price was quite reasonable (for 3 of us we had several drinks, amazing food and sides, and excellent service for $100) I am looking forward to going back soon. read more

My wife and i ate here last sat night, ate at bar as we wanted to, they had a couple specials and there menu items ad well. We decided to get apps and split a special. It was the my top 5 best end cuts of prime rib ive ever had. Im a big steak person, they always have a great piece of meat, better than hi end steak houses, anyway nite went well, we really enjoyed everything. Well be back again for sure. read more

Service is extremely slow. And food quality is lacking. We brought our kids here because we used to come here years ago and it was excellent. We won't be back. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. The bus boy couldn't even take our drink orders. Only 1 waitress on a Sunday; managing take out orders and all the tables in the dining are. 50 minutes and counting - still no salad or soup. Francesco's has great food and friendly service. Their food takes time but is so much better than chain restaurants. Even our baby ate more normal. Francesco's is conveniently located on Rt. 73 in Cedar Brook, about halfway to the shore. It has plenty of free parking. read more

My beautiful girlfriend and I decided to try Francesco's this evening, what a mistake! We always passed it on our way home from the shore and were always curious of how it was. Well, curiousity killed this cat. The food was extremely over priced, the bread was stale, the soup was tasteless, the marinara sauce tasted like it came straight out of the can, and the server was eeeekkk. The absolute worst. Food is decent however the service is very much to be desired. No mention of specials that the other servers said to their customers, no bread offered, had to ask for water 3 times before delivered. We ordered the all you can eat crabs and got there early 6 PM and had to wait 20to 30 minutes in between asking for more crabs and their delivery. Then when we finally received a " half" order of crabs and they were still frozen!!!! Alot of apologies but when I spoke to the "manager " supposedly on duty who was dripping with sweat and did not resemble a manager in any form.... her reply was...can I buy u a drink??? Really?? So that is supposed to forgive the $127 we paid for very below par food? I live in marlton and travel 40 minutes to visit this establishment and promise I never will again. I will visit my local chain eateries(Chickie and Petes) that also have an all you can eat on Wednesday's which I know will give me a very tasty dinner combined with stellar service. Wow, very disappointing..I really try to frequent the mom and pop businesses but you're really in need of stepping it up if you want to compete...how sad.... read more

This rating gets ZERO Stars from me, unfortunately I have to rate it at least one star or it will not allow me to post this review. The Food and Service was completely horrible from the time my Fiancé and I step foot into the place. We were sat at a table that was broken, the table top wobbled, you had to be extremely careful with leaning or putting your elbows on the table in fear of flipping the table over with your drinks/ food. I would think for the amount of money they charge for food, their equipment would at least be up to par. The next issue came when we were given FROZEN butter to spread on our bread. Ummm who gives FROZEN butter as a spread? As a server I would make sure that the butter was warm so that it could be spread over the bread; it would make sense not to give your customers frozen butter, this is just pure common sense which apparently they did not have at all!!! The third mishap came after waiting 30 minutes to get our appetizer 1 of which was calamari the other stuffed mushroom with lump crab meat. Our waitress proceeds to give us the calamari and makes us aware that the kitchen has burned our other appetizer and that it was going to be a while longer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! Who does this???? At this time I was frustrated and told the waitress that we were batting a thousand 1st the table, then the frozen butter and now we had to wait even longer for our appetizers this by far has been one of the worst places I have ever been too. Let me not forget to mention how horrible and bland my food was the the shrimp,was over cooked and I received my food COLD!!! Never Again will I ever spend a dime at this place! Growing up in an Italian heritage and working at a local Italian Restaurant for many years, when my not Italian boyfriend wants to "go out for pasta', I cringe and this is rightfully said when it comes to this establishment. This was my 2nd visit and 2nd most horrible meal I've had from this restaurant. Boyfriend ordered chicken parm both times and honesty you have to be an idiot to not be able to serve a thin slice of breaded chicken and 1/2 cup of pasta with a red garlic sauce. (yes they hate vampires here) OK 1st time here ordered crab Fra'Diablo, WOW about 4 cloves of garlic in a watery sauce over a small amount of box pasta not much crab either..( how much is a box of pasta these days?) terrible! might as well just eaten a clove of garlic. ricotta cannoli for desert, stale shell, need I say more....I cant ignore last Saturday night's meal, Boyfriend orders the same I was surprised that the side of pasta could be less then the portion 6 mos prior. I ordered Blackened Tuna with mango salsa, Salsa was good, Tuna WHAT. it was grey, cooked to death, so over spiced and topped with a strange brown sauce that looked like gravy but was loaded with cinnamon. I've ordered a lot of tuna steaks out&never anything this gross. Waiter comes back, asks if I want mine boxed( ate about 3 bites) say no, he doesn't seem surprised, never asked at any point how dinner was, clearly doesn't care.$75 later yes another bad meal! do yourself a favor if you want a good food don't go there! read more
