Consistently the cheapest gas in my area. And by 'cheapest', it's usually at least 20 cents cheaper than even other stations along the same road. The closest competitor is the Liberty almost across the street, but this usually beats it by a cent or two. If I could pay in cash, it may be even a few cents cheaper than it already is. It's right on the corner which you'd think would cause issues getting in, but I've never had difficulty getting in and getting a pump. This review is overdue. I've been taking my car to Franconia Liberty for over five years now. They perform the annual inspections, oil changes and repair the vehicle when needed to include the engine and the catalytic converter. They have treated me professionally, made arrangements to pick me up (at no charge), went the extra mile to arrange for my car to be towed from my garage to their service station, courtesy of a dead battery, and have worked with me to find cost effective solutions. They have not sold me things I do not need, have been honest (i.e. the service engine soon light was fixed by a new gas cap) and have great flexibility with their hours to pick up and/or drop off vehicles. Has the be the worst inspection location in Alexandria. Most importantly the individuals working--at least on the day I went--were not familiar with the procedures or requirements for the inspection and did not appear to be properly trained. They had a lot of excuses but not much substance to their comments. To top it off the receptionist was rude, the area was dirty, and the parking lot itself is small and easily traffic jammed. These people are rude and liars. They hit my car and didn't tell me. When I found the scratch it was too late and I was no longer on the repair shop. When you request an oil change you don't examine your car for damages - correct. I was stupid enough to leave them my car for oil change. When return after few hours, although they supposed to call me and they never called, I had to call them after several hours to check the status. I was overcharged. Never go there. read more

My wife took the van in for an oil change. She called me after a few minutes saying there was a problem. Mechanic had taken the oil plug out and now claimed the threads were so loose they would have to install a new drain pan costing $280. This didn't sound right. I told the station owner to keep the van on the lift and drove to the station. I looked into the hole where the oil plug had been. It was unmistakable what I saw: Someone had taken a flat head screwdriver or chisel, stuck it into the hole, and drove it in with a hammer. One whole side of the threads had collapsed and could no longer be plugged. What happened here? The owner decided to take advantage of my wife figuring a female wouldn't know any better. Not only is it disturbing he would take advantage of a woman, it is also disturbing he would deliberately damage the car in order to turn a profit. I've heard of crooked business people, but never before have I heard of one who would do deliberate damage to his customers' property. I told the owner to take the van down off the lift. I watched that no further damage was done while I waited for a wrecker to arrive so I could have it towed to a mechanic I trusted (it had to be towed; due to the damage it wouldn't hold any oil). I wasn't about to pay this crook to repair the damage he had created. If you are smart, you won't do any business at this station either. The owner is a crook who takes advantage of women and will rip you off in a heartbeat. On the other hand, the gas is cheap - but how do you know it isn't watered down? Word to the wise: Avoid this business like the plague. read more

I came to clean my car and I went inside with two dollars to get some quarters , I go and put in all 8 quarters and the Vac isn't working so I go in and tell the man at the register that I put in all my quarters and it wasn't working he then asked me If I had put in all eight quarters or only seven I responded really fast and told him I came in with only two dollars and got 8 quarters back so yes I did , Then he gave me a paper that I needed to fill out so I could get my refund and he had the nerve to tell me to call this number and that the manager might or might not call me back like are you serious I'm never coming here again this will be the first and last time I come here. read more

This was my first time at Liberty. I was referred by a worker, because my car's windshield wiper fluid wasn't working, and the dealer kept trying to convince me it was frozen, and discouraged me from bringing it in even after I told them that I use -40 fluid. Anyway, after two weeks of no windshield fluid and salty roads, I decided to take it somewhere else. I took a chance on Liberty due to the high recommendation of my coworker and so glad I did!! I have simply had it with the service center at the dealership where I bought my car. They are more interested in generating profit than taking care of the customer. Always "recommending" extra service options every single time I take in my car. Do I really need a transmission flush at every visit?!!! So I recently decided to try Franconia Liberty since I have been happy with them for their state inspection service the past few years. First off, the manager (Keith) and assistant manager (Kendall) are professional and friendly. Also they are patient as I'm sure they wanted to laugh at me as I tried to describe, in my layperson terms, some of the problems with my car - "there's this 'klanky' noise from something underneath..." LOL. :-) They got my car in for service in a very timely manner. And also, I thought their prices for the service/repairs were very fair. I was not in shock when they told me the cost whereas almost every time I leave the dealership I have to mentally recover from the latest outrageous charge to my credit card. Came in because my car was overheating. They said they would do a pressure test, after the did the pressure test, they said there was nothing wrong, they also claimed they ran the car for 2 hours at idle, and drove it too. The Car came in with and eighth of a tank and left with about the same. 15 minutes after leaving the car over heated again losing 2 gallons of fluid. Car is now at Ford to get fixed. After reading the Yelp reviews I thought maybe it was just bad luck for a few people, now I know I will not bring any vehicles back to them and they also have lost my gas business. Good luck to anyone who thinks they can get something done, thankfully I only loss $55.00 for their non-help. read more

These guys were so great today. My car was all sorts of expired and I didn't know until I received a ticket while parked in Alexandria. The car is new so I guess I thought I didn't need to worry well I was coming out of the DMV and looking for an inspection station. I pulled right in and they took me me immediately. One of the guys came out to tell me the registration was out of date. But he let me use his computer and I was registered in minutes. They were so nice and didn't look at me like I was an idiot. Went to this shop for simple state inspection. Instead I feel like I got ramrodded. Nitpicking for things like a foggy headlight on a 15 year old car. Simply crazy as every car over 5 years old will fail as a result. Every car I saw there had a rejection sticker on it. This is simply a scheme to drum up more business. I have been to this service center a few times to get gas and get my safety and emissions checks done. I will never return for anything, not even a pack of gum, based on what happened this week. I took my car in to get the safety and emissions checks done and the safety check failed, due to the rear brakes being bad, at least according to the guy at the register. I knew that wasn't true because I just had my car worked on by my mechanic a couple months ago, and he didn't mention the brakes being bad. Anyway, the register guy and I go into the shop to talk with the mechanic, and the mechanic says "your brakes are bad, but they aren't bad enough to fail the safety inspection." Needless to say, I was not very happy w/ Mr. Register and I let him know about it. His response was "It was a misunderstanding". Yeah, a misunderstanding that would have cost me hundreds of dollars. Consider this a warning to anyone who goes there for service: they will try to rip you off. Ask a lot of questions and make sure to talk with the mechanic too if you are unfortunate enough to go there for service. read more
